    According to the GMC website, the 2.5 has a max towing capacity of 3500 pounds, the 3.5 7000 and the 2.8 diesel, 7700.

    Excellent review. Love that color, which is the same as the Kinetic Blue on the Colorado for 2018. I wish I was a bit further out in my three year lease (15 months out of a 36 month lease) on a 2016 Hyper Blue Crosstrek Limited with Eyesight and Navigation, which I outgrew (2nd Crosstrek, but need more space for hauling and the utility trailer is sometimes a PITA). I would love to fleet order a 2018 Colorado with an extended cab/long bed WT 4x4 configuration with the duramax diesel engine (that configuration is only available through special fleet order), in Kinetic Blue, trailering package, WT Convenience Package, WT Appearance Package (adjustable spotter mirrors), fog lamps (heavy early morning mountain fogs), spray-in bedliner, underbody shield (deep ice/snow in winter), fender flares, and 7" MyLink system, and cargo area lights. MSRP ~$37K.

    Gm and Ford co-developed a 10-speed transmission. The Tacoma interior is small compared to the Canyon/Colorado.

    I had a 2005 gmc canyon offroad model which I totaled. I just bought the 2018 gmc canyon 6 cylinder and aside from the obvious upgrades in the engine and power, the biggest thing for me is the difference in turn radius. The 2005 turned like a bus. The 2018 turns like a corolla.

    "The Toyota Tacoma is roomier for the rear seat occupants"
    Are you high man? Or have you not actually sat in a Tacoma? I'm 6'0" and can comfortably sit behind myself in the Colorado... I can't even FIT in the tacoma

      Brian Lane couldnt agree with you more. Im 6'2" and fit behind myself in the colorado but when i recently took a road trip in the tacoma i couldnt sit behind myself. In fact, i couldnt sit behind the main driver who is 5'10". 8 hours in that tacoma wasnt very fun

      We were about to sign for a Tacoma and then tried to fit both car seats in the back seat and it was too tight.
      Ended up with a Canyon because of the bigger back seat.

    Nice review as always. An upper trim level Colorado or Canyon is on my short list to replace my current truck. However, if you compare the features of a Canyon Denali or SLT with a 2020 Tacoma Limited, 2019 Ford Lariat or 2019 Ridgeline RTL-e, you immediately see how far behind the technology curve the GM twins have fallen in a short amount of time. The GM twins have the AutoTrac transfer case which is a huge plus but the Toyota, Ford and Honda all have a full suite of active safety features, smart key entry, push button start, LED headlights, auto high beam headlights, etc, etc, etc. If GM wants to charge the same price as the competitors, they need to equip their trucks at the same level.

      I've owned a 2018 since new and I love it. it's a fast Mini Sierra. How the reviewer describes the transmission is accurate. I was able to get my dealership to upgrade me to the premium ATF which solves a lot of the weird shifting issues. Other than that I couldn't find another midsize that was as responsive and had as nice an interior.

    • @DrHogfan
      @DrHogfan 3 года назад

      @@burningdust I ended up getting an '18 All Terrain after a chic totaled my ford Explorer Sport Trac. It had 26 K miles and It's the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. I had some shifting issues but Dealer changed out the Fluid to Synthetic and no issues since. 4WD was awesome during the recent record snowfall .

    When starting thus truck with remote start, you are suppose to let it idle down before shutting it off. Letting a engine to properly warm up before driving or turning it off is crucial to engine wear. Also, you don't need to tap or hit the buttons on the dash so hard. Lol

    • @JBe77
      @JBe77 6 лет назад +6

      Okie Rider correction... engine warm up doesn't reduce engine wear, it's actually the opposite. engine warm up was needed with older engines before these fuel efficient engines began production.

      Colorado, the Tacoma is still a great truck but the new generation doesn't live up to the reliability reputation for what Toyota is known for as they suffer terribly from transmission problems, therefore I pick the Colorado for it's comfortable driving dynamics similar to the Canyon and slightly cheaper price and refined nature.

      I'm waiting to see what the new Ranger looks like. I've had Tacomas, and now I drive a 4Runner. I like Toyotas, but they don't really offer any luxury at all - no lane keeping assist, no blind spot warning, no adaptive cruise control, etc. I make several drives each year that are 1,000 miles or more, so these features would be great to have.
      I like the Colorado, but the materials and interior sure don't look like they're worth almost 50 grand. I'm hoping to get a Ranger version of the Ford Raptor because I want a rugged truck that is capable off road, something that can keep up with traffic on the interstates and occasionally do some light-duty towing.

      While I find the seating position is uncomfortable in the Tacoma, the real dealbreaker is the gear hunting transmission that is never in the right gear.
