    You get it or you don't...and...you don't. So we get it, it's not for you. Trust me, you definitely made your point...I lost count how many times you said you are confused or you don't understand why they make this. Perhaps I can shed some simple light on it for you.
    First, while there ARE people who don't like chrome, there are more who DO.
    Second, not EVERY truck buyer is a 6' dude! My wife wants this Canyon Denali, she doesn't want a 1500, nor does she want the Chevy. It's called consumer demand. She's 4' 11" and this is a perfect size for her.
    Third, the Denali is NOT equal in any way to the Chevy version, even loaded out. Sure, mechanically they're the same, but you get more detail, luxury, refinement, features and available options in the top trimmed top brand.
    Lastly, many people have smaller garages, driveways, live in an apartment or park daily in a parking ramp, or drive in areas better suited for smaller vehicles. I do agree, economically it makes more sense to buy a 1500 full size for relatively the same price, but many folks who buy this truck don't need, can't have, or just don't want anything bigger. And THAT is why this truck exists.

    I wanted/needed a truck for light hauling from time to time. I have a 2016 GMC Canyon All-Terrain that fits perfectly in my garage, fuel economy is great (3.6 V6), especially for a truckI It rides great, looks better and more professional than the Colorado. That's why some of us drive this truck

    I personally previously owned a Canyon Denali and absolutely loved it. I’m sure you realize that GMC wouldn’t produce this vehicle if it weren’t targeting a certain demographic. I am of a minority in your mind it seems!

    GMC Canyon does need something more, but GM is too busy doting over Chevrolet. I'm still looking at the Canyon Denali because I want the heated and cooled leather seats, etc. and I always thought that the GMC grills look better than the Chevy grills. I think the price comparison isn't far because an equally optioned up Colorado Z71 is basically the same price as the Denali. Also I wanted to like the Taco, but the seating is weird, cramped and being 6'2" I don't like staring out the top 3 inches of the wind shield. It's the same way in the Tundra. The Canyon\Colorado is much more comfortable, I'm looking out a normal spot in the wind shield and plenty of space in the rear seat on the crew cab with me up front. I can actually put the seat back far enough that I can't reach the pedals. lol

    I am trying to figure out what you are trying to tell us. "Why get the Canyon when you can get a Colorado?" Isn't that the same thing as saying Why get a Sierra when you can get a Silverado? or when Pontiac was made Why get a Firebird when you can get a Camaro? It's a matter of preference.

    • @TruckCentral

      @DragonKnightX12 6 лет назад

      Not really. Like the Sierra has more features than the Silverado, not just a upgraded exterior/interior.
      This dosen't really add anything significant over the Colorado, and for the price you could just get a Sierra 1500 SLT.

    I, for one, am looking for a vehicle that does NOT have a push-button start. Wait until you can't start the car and you'll see what I mean. The module will go out on you in about 5 years, which by then you're probably out of warranty. I know because it happened to a couple of friends of mine who spent a small fortune getting it fixed. They had to call for a tow late at night. It always happens when you're out and about, not in your driveway. Give me a key any day! I am also looking for a nicer interior like the Denali because I am not going to use it as a work truck and I don't want a huge truck. I can't wait to test drive one.

  • @justinbeamon6624
    @justinbeamon6624 6 лет назад +4

    I would say the turbo diesel is the way to go. For truck stuff and daily driving you'll get much better fuel economy and hauling and towing stuff it'll work great.

    • @photoapeal
      @photoapeal 4 года назад

      justin beamon it’s get 2mpg better than the v6 & cost $5,000 more... its a slower engine not as much get up & go because you’re getting higher torque & slightly better MPG & a 700lbs increase in towing capacity, it’s a good engine but is it really worth it? 🤷‍♂️

    • @Jten12
      @Jten12 3 года назад

      @@photoapeal way worth it , 25 mpg . 7700 lb towing . Exhaust brake integrated like a true diesel. The v6 u get the power after 5200 rpm. The diesel u get all that power at only 2000 rpm . Can town 300 lbs less than a raptor and get 20 plus mpg . Diesel burns slower. So u can idle way more as well when heating or cooling the inside of the truck. I’d say it’s by far advantage to have the diesel over a gas

    Just replaced my HYUNDAI Santa Fe, exchanging the moonroof for the bed. I wanted all the bells and whistles, but $45K? Well the Costco Auto Program brought the price down and then the rebate - so keeping my V6 engine and power everything with more extras makes it so worth it. The Denali has everything without adding on the extras like the bed liner and tow package and the steps which the dealer may throw in one extra but not all. Worth the price, I LOVE my GMC CANYON DENALI and I’m worth it!!!!

  • @tomsriv
    @tomsriv 5 лет назад +4

    The SLT is the better version. It has a nicer looking grill, classy, not gawdy. Nicer looking rims, although smaller. But my main reason for preferring it is the coco/dune interior. It looks so classy in those colors. Yet it seems 90% of all GM cars come with ugly "uber special" black interior.
    But as far as why this exists. I think if you like the wheels and the grill and want all the options available in an SLT plus the ventilated seats which are Denali only it makes sense to get this because trying to find a specific option on a model listed on a dealer website is like pulling teeth. Even if you ask the salesman if it has a particular option they will say yes just to get you on the lot.
    I'm one of those people who would not buy a silverado at any price, I don't like wide vehicles and I would not buy the Colorado either because I don't like the styling. It is between a Colorado SLT and a Ranger for me at this point.

  • @snatchbloock

    I just moved from a Colorado Red Line to a Canyon Denali. I really liked the Colorado. It drove very good, looked aggressively cool and met my needs. So why did I switch to Denali? I like to lease my vehicles and l got the Denali for a lot less money up front and almost $100.00 less per month. Considering it was equal to a nicely appointed Colorado, my choice was a no brainer. I was in the right place at the right time...but I still like Colorado.

    I can't park the Sierra in my garage. The height and width on the sierra wont allow it. I live in the north and won't shovel snow if i dont have to, no matter how much i love the car. So this truck, that will fit, makes sense for me

    To answer another of your questions (and keep in mind that a $30K Colorado does NOT equal a $45K Canyon - see my other comment) some of us live in the city, have the need for a truck, and the Canyon / Colorado fit into our city garages built under the house. That's why we need a $45K mid-sized truck. It goes to Home Depot on the weekends, hauls race motorcycles to the track, and is as luxurius as my BMW automobile was. One vehicle to do it all. You cannot do that in the city with a Chevy Silversaurus or a GMC Sierradon unless you buy a $60K+ premium version with power-folding mirrors so you can get through the garage door without doing $1500 worth of damage, and then those dinosaurs take up so much room in our city garages that nothing else fits. So what you don't get is that not everyone lives out in the sticks on a farm with a huge barn with wide doors for toys. These two trucks are perfect for our needs, and the Canyon is the luxo-version. This ain't rocket surgery. THAT'S why a $45K mid-sized truck makes sense, although they don't cost that much. I got my 2019 Canyon SLT completely loaded with everything a Denali has, WITH the long box, for right at $40K. A similarly-equipped Colorado was $39.5K, NOT $30K.

      GammelKong I only paid $36,600 for my 2019 Canyon Denali last month. The MSRP was something like $45,690. I really had to shop around and drive to a different town to get it that cheap. It was some kind of a loss leader Memorial Day special. They made me finance it. I was going to pay cash but they asked if I would please finance the whole purchase price. I still haven’t paid a dime for it. That just seems crazy to me. I’ll pay $34,000 on my first payment and pay the rest out over six months like they asked me to do because that’s the only way they’ll make money on it, some sort of GMC financing kickback thing. You have to find a bigger dealership that does a big volume of sales in GMC Canyons to get the best prices I’m afraid. The little guys cannot compete. Fortunately this place was only about an hour and a half away from me. I found it for $300 less even in Houston, but that’s a nine hour drive.

    I'll tell you who would buy a Canyon Denali. I am 73 years old been driving full size pick-um trucks for years...but most of my driving is around town. I need a largish bed, and agree the short bed does not cut it. At my age I want a little of the nicer things in life, so went for the Denali Long Box Canyon. I will admit it is not the truck my 2016 Sierra SLT was, but it is still a very nice truck in it's own way. It will pull 7000lbs, which is pretty strong. I did look at buying an SLT. but by the time I added all the stuff I wanted, I was getting into Denali country anyway. I don't like the way the gauges are buried in the dash...the smaller ones are very hard to see with sunglasses on.

    The Silverado and Sierra are too big to drive/park/maneuver in a city. We had one for a month and found it completely impractical. the hood alone made us feel unsafe while driving. And it barely fit in the garage. We wanted something practical that we could still use on our monthly trips to the mountains. The “mid-sized” trucks are big enough for us. We do wish the car companies would get their heads out of their asses and realize we want as many features and people who buy the Semis they sell as pickups these days.

    Have you actually priced a Colorado versus a similarly-equipped Canyon? You make the comment that you "...don't get a $45,000 truck, you can get a similarly-kitted $30,000 Colorado..." Bullshit. I have priced both trucks with equal options, or as close as I could get. $1000 price difference, and the Canyon had a more usable features such as a wireless phone charger, a SD Card reader for nav updates, and a bunch of other nice touches that you cannot get on the Colorado. It comes down to preferences about styling, available colors, wheels, etc.

    Looks like the room in the back seat may be a little larger than the Colorado. They tried to give us a Colorado as a loner truck while our truck was being serviced and with our daughter in a booster seat her legs wouldn’t fit between the front seat and her booster. Very small backseat.

    I have this truck, I totally understand your thoughts on the Denali but I'll explain why I own one. I'm 53 and like my vehicle in our garage and want my wife to feel comfortable driving it as well. I have always been a car guy and don't want a giant truck to wash and wax, and don't want to borrow a friends truck to pick up a 2x4 either. Now is the whole purpose behind buying a $45,000 truck is for the brand name Denali... of course it is, when was the last time you said, I can afford it but no, I'll buy the cheaper model!! It's like saying, no, I want an ugly wife, what do I need such a beautiful wife for? I'm just an older guy with a few bucks and really like the truck, I just feel good in it. Nice video though and yes, I'm pissed there is no push start, I think the chevy cruise has push start for gods sake...

    These new vehicles make me nervous. I only buy older used vehicles for cash and drive them. When these trucks are old, all of those electronics are going to have so many problems, not work, etc. I bought my current 2004 Dakota lightly crashed for $700, spent $300 on parts and have put nearly 100k miles on it and it's still going strong. I don't think I can get away with that on one of these things when it's 15 or 20 years old. I could buy a new truck. I just can't see spending that much money on something that spends most of it's time sitting in the driveway.

    Canyon looks like a smaller sierra. It looks like a truck. Colorado is nice looking dont get me wrong, but the front end kinda looks like a crossover to me. I still expect trucks, even the smaller ones to have more traditional truck styling. If it doesnt look like a brick im not interested 😆
