Comedians like Nate are kind of magical to me. I mean, picture any of your friends or a relative, on stage saying, "If I went back in time -- knowing everything I know now -- I don't think I would make a difference." Nate gets a nice laugh from that, but it's not even a joke. It's almost a little sad. Yet somehow, it's hilarious when he says it. My favorite line is when they ask about the word "satellite" and Nate says: "Well... I shouldn't have even brought that up then..." I've listened to this routine a dozen times in the last few months and that line cracks me up every single time.
a lot of "sad" things turn funny when you can just accept them like "well, that happened". it's a coping mechanism and it's funny cause it's real. also, delivery is key. love nate
How many times have I heard the time travel bit? LOTS! I still laugh every single time. It’s soo good. He must have had a very tight limit at this gig, feels like he cut his best jokes short even.

@davet5887 sure, but just because YOU personally don't like it doesn't make it inherently bad. You can avoid the things that you personally find offensive, and other people can enjoy them
I just found Nate two days ago and I’m binge watching everything I can find!!! The gift of laughter is good for the soul❣️Thanks, Nate a/k/a Nathaniel a/k/a Nathan!!! 😂🤣
Observational humor is wild. Nate is joining the ranks of Seinfeld, Steven Wright and Mitch Hedburg - who each have their own approach to analyzing how the world works
He's got a good point about time travel. Maybe these guys on Tiktok claming to be time travelers but get every prediction wrong are the real deal. How much do I know about what happened 300 years ago? Like maybe a few broad things, wars, maybe president. That's about it. I could be like, oh yeah, there's going to be a tea party in Boston in a few years. And they would go, "so what? There are tea parties every day... ".
People are always saying it would be go back and invent amazon or the iphone or something like that, but truth is Nate said it perfectly. You would be less likely to invent it if you went back in time before it was invented. You would have to figure out exactly how to make it, market it, get lucky, have the connections, etc. and most of us would do nothing besides try to bet on horses like Biff Tannen lol
Mark Twain's 'A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court' a guy goes back in time and institutes all of these early industrial age inventions into medieval culture. The telegraph, soap, a printing press, I believe even lighting. I'm reading it and thinking, " I couldn't do any of that."
Was he strapped for time!? He seems to have done all his material, which was fantastic in other videos, a bit hurridly, leaving out a lot. Still, never fails to make me laugh this guy
I have literally had those same thoughts about time travel! If I went back in time, I'd offer nothing. Like, I could explain germ theory a bit and tell them to clean the wound, but if you haven't already invented hydrogen peroxide or iodine then don't bother talking to me...
It is a longer bit. If you check out his special "full time magic" you'll see it in a full hour format. He got such good reception with the set up alone here that he ran out of time.
Forget the 20s, I'd be useless anytime. Me in 10000 BC: Hey, you guys should wash your hands before you eat that deer. Them: With what? Me: With soap. Them: What's soap? Me: Uh...it's a little white block that I think is made out of dried milk or something. You know what, never mind.
"I honestly don't think I could prove I'm from the future," 😂😅🤣 Love it!

His flow and phrasing is so on point and yet unpredictable. Nate Bargatze is a legend.
His transitions too…so effortless
As good as this is, he's even so much smoother now.
I don’t know who told him to change his hairstyle and grow a beard, but he owes that person deeply

Completely agree with you. It’s such a unique way for him to phrase that line, genius.

I have had the same thoughts, that as a time traveler you would be expected to know history a lot better than I do.

Why does it matter that he's clean? That works for him and that's fine, but it's not like saying curse words is bad comedy or something.
