I once ordered "deconstructed" Mahi tacos at a restaurant that was trying to be fancier than it actually was. I was expecting something different than what I got. It's the fact he won with black judges and after the church, and the prizes were afro centric. It clearly wasn't supposed to be him. It broke the obvious script. Feels like he's appropriating when he wasn't.
That was actually the only thing I didn't like about the sketch. That's just really dangerous language in real life. A perfect sketch for Nate's delivery.
The apologizing shouldn’t have been as funny as it was XD just flawless delivery. Love everything about this skit.
This episode introduced me to Nate Burgatze. Been his fan ever since. I've even seen him live and he kills it
Kenan’s “hoppin johhhn”, fake chewin and spitting, and flipping the the plate off the table was😂😂😂
that may be the funniest line reading of the words "rhode island"
Nate's deeply disappointed face at the announcement of his win is a detail I had not noticed before, but it is so good.
Punkie's character with her head on the table and Kenan's character rubbing her back in sympathy was hilarious!
the music at 0:16 sounds like the ff7 main menu theme
your hearing is immaculate
The crystal theme was sampled for that.
The constant “I’m sorry” and Kenan telling the sous chef to k*ll himself - 😂😂
I know that Lorne is not a big fan of improv, but there's no way Kenan knocking the plates off the table was at all part of the sketch. Heidi's reaction was too genuine.
I bet Lorne and the cast weren't happy with Padma Lakshmi. How hard is it to act yourself with just a few lines.
I’ve been a fan of Nate’s humor for several years now
Nate Bargatze was so solid in every skit last night. "Washington" was great writing.
Yes!! That one is so good. I was complaining to someone the other week about how confusing our system is. And I feel unsmart bec I'm 38 😂
When Keenan knocked over the plate and Heidi struggled to stay in character 😂😂😂 that’s one of the funniest moments I’ve seen in a sketch in a long time
the straight faced plate push off the counter is comedy gold LOL
"Plate 2 uhh… plate 2 frankly piss me off" 💀😭😭😭😭
Kenan's totally sincere "You need to kill yourself," is one of my new favourite lines.
People use it online bullying all the time, and words like that can push someone who's already hurting over the edge. Yes, I am fully aware that it's just a joke in a comedy sketch, but even so - words matter. I wish this line weren't in the sketch.
I thought it was funny too. Reminds me of when Terry Bradchaw said it while commentating football lol. I wouodnt condone saying it to a real person but sonce its a sketch its harmless. And honestly Im surprised you were allowed to even comment that as Ive been auto moderated for much less.
I just about fell out of my chair, laughing when he knocked the plate off the counter😂
The Howard University letterman jacket took me out! He was so uncomfortable with the winning prizes. 😂😂😂
LOL! OMG! This one was classic. All of it. And Keenan's plate flip was hysterical and perfect!
"I'm sorry."
I love that I’ve been watching Kenan do SNL style stuff since the 90s. I love his style so much
Deconstructed Black-eyed peas so... minus Fergie?
You better stop. Lol
Funniest SNL in YEARS! Nate Bargatze brought it!! And everybody worked together, great skits!
Everytime he says I'm sorry I die 😂
I SCREAMED at the way Mikey said collard greens😭😭😭😭
The xylophone sounds going off at 0:50 are too perfect 😂 they ALWAYS play that tune
it's a Marimba, actually
Bro I’ve been watching Nate’s comedy for a few years now. But to see him on SNL is amazing. I feel so proud as a fan lol
I have watched this skit like 27 different times and I haven't stopped laughing yet this is the best chef Showdown skit SNL has ever produced. "This IS the culture"
That was hilarious when he flipped the plate. 😄 Comedy works best when we're able to laugh at ourselves. Great job, everyone.
I had my headphones on and my wife couldn't figure out why i was laughing so hard. Kenan never fails :)
that's what I wanted to say! I just didn't want to single him out to make anyone else feel bad, but still - kenan did stand out.
