I had no idea who Nate Bargatze was, but if he can inspire a series of well written, deftly directed and hilariously acted sketches, I am so grateful.
I highly recommend his stand up! It's great. He has a few specials. Hopefully you will like them!
this sketch in particular really showed his comic vibe. his energy was spot on for how he delivers his standup

I felt this sketch. I'm white and this black guy I like is staying with me for a bit. He does NOT like my cooking, he's not even polite about it😂. I'm going to show him this when he gets up. (I know how to properly make Mac n cheese now! Still don't get seasoning meat...)

For Sure! Love the premise of this. Let's do one where Lorne Michealswitz has ten new actors to choose from for the SNL future cast. In this scenario, 9 are incredibly dull and not funny and love bagels and small hats, but the 1 who is the funniest by miles is far right from the bible belt. It would be so funny.
And Heidi nearly losing it as the plate kept rattling around on the ground!
Whatever Kenan does on SNL is pretty funny to me.

kenan's pretty funny with his skits - and this one didn't disappoint. He's always in self-deprecating character. I eat it up.
I love how the plate is thrown, like a cat pushing things off a table 😂 Love how Padma Lakshmi announces the prizes, and love, love Nate 😂

Nate Bargatze was freaking brilliant. Was great that the writers had such a fabulous host to work with and stepped up with the material this week. Props to whole cast for great show!
Spot on. The comedians don’t write sketches but they do have some creative control. His attitude and vibe must have been inspiring in the writers room for the show to have been this good this week. Bad guests poison every sketch even if they’re not in it.
I think they kind of get her Nate isn’t. It was a perfect a atmosphere for him.

@@jjackson5558it depends if you like his comedy or not. A lot of people who find this skit funny is knowing that this is how he does his comedy. I personally find him really creative and original, yet very basic. If you check out one of his specials and still don’t like him, no problem!
I truly hope that Kenan stays until the bitter end. The guy is truly the GOAT. His delivery of lines is so incredibly sharp and cutting. There's a build up with many of his characters and then he just slays it within 15 seconds. The plate off the edge is a one of the many brilliant Kenan moves.
He's a legend as far as I'm concerned. Versatile, talented, seasoned....what's not to love

When Keenan knocked over the plate and Heidi struggled to stay in character 😂😂😂 that’s one of the funniest moments I’ve seen in a sketch in a long time
Ordinarily, breaking Heidi is not easy. Strange how a simple plate flip did it.

I love Nate. People are showing him love I get it, but they're acting as if it's the best episode ever produced. It's not. It is funny and it's solid, but it's no where near top ten best SNL episodes of hosts. Fans need to chill out a bit

I love Nate Bargatze. He is so deadpan & clean while being hysterical. I have to comment on Keenan Thompson as well. He's the only cast member on SNL that's very good at his job in that show. He's been on there the longest of any current members and he's still funny. He's likeable and versatile. I don't watch the show anymore. But he's worth watching.

I know that Lorne is not a big fan of improv, but there's no way Kenan knocking the plates off the table was at all part of the sketch. Heidi's reaction was too genuine.

Everyone in this skit was amazing. SNL take notes, comedians make great sketches, and Kenan being hilarious instead of "the straight man" in almost every sketch is comedy gold.
I was chuckling the whole sketch BUT… I lost it when she said “Impossible Catfish”. I would’ve thrown the plate off the table too. Especially after it was sous vide😂🤣

What makes this funnier for me is that I am Mexican American and have a friend who is a chef and white and he made tamales one year and they were the absolute best I've ever had. No one in my family could believe it was his first time or that he has no Latin in his family. 😂😂😂

It's the fact he won with black judges and after the church, and the prizes were afro centric.
It clearly wasn't supposed to be him. It broke the obvious script.
Feels like he's appropriating when he wasn't.
That was actually the only thing I didn't like about the sketch. That's just really dangerous language in real life. People use it online bullying all the time, and words like that can push someone who's already hurting over the edge. Yes, I am fully aware that it's just a joke in a comedy sketch, but even so - words matter. I wish this line weren't in the sketch.

It's his job. If he ever wants to quit that is his choice to make. How would you like somebody forcing you to keep a job if you would want to quit? Now I agree he should never be fired, but if he ever decides for some reason to quit, even though it'll be disappointing, that is his free choice to make. It's his life after all. Having said that I doubt he will because comedy has been his life for forever already

I’m crying🤣…This happened to me irl! I’m a white woman and I used to work in an office with eight black women and me. I overheard a few of my coworkers talking about their cornbread recipes and friendly-bragging about how much their families loved their cornbread. At the next potluck with the board members I brought my cornbread, which is a recipe handed down from my Appalachian grandfather that I’ve added finely diced red chilis and jalapeños to. Everyone went absolutely nuts over my cornbread, but were kinda shocked when they found out I had made it… I got a few weird looks and a couple of the board members just kept going on and on about it. I was embarrassed but glad they liked it! When I told them that my grandmother who taught me how to cook was from New Orleans it made more sense to them… so next time I brought my gumbo… That went over just as well!
