Imagine, you're a street musician and, all of a sudden, you're on stage with David Gilmour. This guy will never forget that day!
It would be something out of this world as long as you know who D. Gilmour is, unlike this guy.
Seems as if he was more excited to get paid.
He's a lucky guy. Who would refuse such offer? Good on him.

Yesterday I met Igor, the crystal glass player, by pure coincidence walking in Venice. He's still playing the glasses at some of the tiny old squares ...and God, sounds great. When he took a break and people left I approached him and asked if he was the guy who played with David...he laughed and told me "you've seen me on the DVD right? hahah?. Such a nice dude. We took a photo and he thanked me for the money I left to the box and the memories I brought to him as 2006 is a bit long ago already..
Did he say if he knew David or PinkFloyd before that day he was asked to play? Because if he did and if I were him, I would have said yes right away even before being offered to be paid.
@@jeffbeck9347 In his words approximately "I knew that there was a band called Pink Floyd but I had heard almost nothing and I didn't know the name of the members and even less their faces. After that night I started to listen more about Pink Floyd and I've become a fan of the band nowadays but before that moment I didn't know who were that man and that woman that approached and asked me to join them at San Marco. I stayed with them not only on stage but at the hotel and rehearsing too"....no information about the salary haha One of those guys whom you can see from second one that he is a nice human being.
@@marccosta7376 Bro, thanks for the reply. It really answered the biggest question on my mind.
@@jeffbeck9347 He also told me that all the people in the band were great people and music was always present in some way...rehearsing, in supper conversations, David and Rick wanting to know how the glasses are played, etc. None of the band members had rockstar behaviour or a minimum sign of ego. I didn't want to bother him and after a picture with him and a "Thank you for your time Igor" I left and he continued playing. As a huge David Gilmour fan I was lost for words for an hour..

This is why I love David Gilmour, to ask this street musician to come and play on stage with them shows his humility. Awesome, totally awesome. 🍁🍁🍁
Russell I think you picked up on something that no one else has picked up on. Something has made this man humble.
When David Gilmour pays YOU, a street musician, to play with him!
@@ampzamp .. evidently his love for music has kept him grounded and he recognizes other people's passion for music - even if it's wine glasses. A pity that talent can also become distasteful if vented too ostentatiously in politics as happened to Roger Waters.
We have Gilmour to thank for giving Kate Bush some initial recognition in the music industry. Maybe he recognized the pitfalls early on with Syd Barrett - creativity, but also the destructive nature of drugs. The Floyd never went off the rails after Barrett - despite his demise, Gilmour graciously gave tribute to him in the album 'Wish You Were Here' with 'Shine On ..'
It's amazing how four people can randomly experiment with studio technology of the early '70s and produce an iconic album such as DSotM with session singer Clare Torry's one-off vocal that has seemingly elevated itself beyond the band yet is intrinsically linked to PFs success in inovation.
He offered him a job tonight. Why so much excitement?? It is very interesting all right, but not a particular burden for Dave
Why isnt he Sir David Gilmour.? Truly the best of British.

Gilmour is tuned at a different level. As soon as he heard the glass player, he immediately conceeded that the man's flow and feeling would be like a jig-saw piece, perfectly fitting his own music's flow and feeling. Art and talent recognizing art and talent, regardless of the circumstances.. and off to the stage they went. A beautiful moment, indeed.

Mr. Gilmour obviously saw talent and wanted to give him a chance to showcase it. A maestro sharing his stage.
We done.
David is such a class act.
yes!! He is not only a first-class musician, great as a person :)
He really is. A very warm and kind human being.
@Union Blacksmith - Fact!! :)
David is such a glass act!!
It's amazing how many of you know him so well! Incredible! Might want to ask his kids though... ;-)
Incredible! Everyone knows what a massive production a PF concert is…and to be that nimble to incorporate this into that evening’s show is mind boggling. David, you are a class act and your wife is as lovely as ever!!!
David kind of did this at another time in the 90's, when PF was playing in Australia. A street musician was covering their songs and David asked if he could play at a party that night. The guy said he couldn't because he was going to see Pink Floyd instead and D went, "well I'll be there too, but the party won't happen until after." BTW, Roger fetched some kids from a public school to perform Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2 at his last Chicago show. It was really excellent!
The Maiden that's awesome. Roger does that at every show. Gets local kids to come on stage for ABITW2. Saw him in Brooklyn a few weeks ago and Yankee Stadium a few years ago. He did it both times. Kids were amazing both times (so was Roger and his band, lip sync or not)
Lip sync???
@Justin M:
Same question as Bob Bob. Are you saying Roger and the band lip sync but force the kids to sing live?
Seems like this was standard procedure for Mr Gilmour. He did it in New Zealand too. I remember holidaying in Fiji just before Pink Floyd played Western Springs Stadium in Auckland in 1988 (January 22nd). On the way home we met some street musicians who were also on their way there and they had nowhere to stay, so one of my friends invited them to stay at his place. They accepted. They were playing on the street in Auckland, when Mr Gilmour approached and asked them if they wanted to play at the after concert party. They accepted his offer. I remember being at my friend's house when they were collected for the gig. They were picked up in a limousine accompanied by a van for the band equipment (a snare drum and an acoustic guitar), they got free concert tickets with full access passes and watched the concert from the side of the stage. Then they were shuttled to the party venue in the limo again after the concert, and the limo drove them back to my friend's place again after the party. Yes they got paid for the gig too. One of the guys told me after he wasn't a Pink Floyd fan, and was talking to Gilmour at the party, didn't know who he was. Thinking he was a stage hand or something, he asked Gilmour if he was going to stay with the band until the end of the tour. David Gilmour's response: "I suppose I should. I'm the lead guitarist and singer".
Hehe, Roger waters got some danish kids for his gig in copengagen aswell. Awesome. But i can imagine its difficult to get parents to let their kids go on a tour with a rock band :)
Both him and Brian May are fantastic guitar players but also really nice guys without all the rock star ego crap etc
I'd have to agree with you there!!!
I always see Brian May mentioned in Gilmour videos and vise versa as if it’s the only two guitarists people can name.
I don't know... sometimes I think I see a big ego lurking in David. I think he may just be better than most at containing it and pretending to be humble. He watched as Roger's ego soared out of control and nearly destroyed the band. Roger also made a fool of himself taking Pink Floyd to court, then he ended up performing in clubs in the same city that PF played huge arenas. If I witnessed that kind of major fall, I'd be very cautious not to let my ego show its ass. You can't be as awesome as David Gilmour and not have an outsized ego. What always strikes me as dumb is when someone is given some major award and they respond by saying that it's a "humbling experience". What exactly is "humbling" about being told you're the greatest? lol. (He does act quite humble most of the time though.)
You messing? Gilmour is a giant next to may 🙈 he's a butcher
@@Starlight_Silver You’re right. Of course Gilmour has a massive ego. All rockstars do. But I think he’s quite a shy person too. Those two things aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive. Just because he’s not flamboyant doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an ego.
Such a great, iconic musician. Yet also such a modest, unassuming, polite, considerate Englishman. What a kind gesture, and it will have changed that man's life.
One of the greatest singer, songwriter, guitar pickin geniuses I’ve ever seen. And I’m an old phart who came up when Elvis was the man and some guys named The Beatles came to town! Mr Gilmour is one of the kindest people in the industry and the world for that matter! Shine On David!

The sound of the guitar and the glasses go so well together, as if they were made for each other. So very pink floyd
Some one said, ' Imagine if you were the guy in the street asked to play with David. '" Imagine if you were David that could just by asking, be able to have great musicians except your invitation. No pretense. That's the magic of great music, no matter who you are.

Since this was filmed, Igor acquired international fame, riches beyond belief, tons of chicks, got hooked on smack, trashed countless hotel rooms, put out a widely panned concept album, fought with Dave over 'creative differences', frittered away all his money, crashed and burned, went to rehab twice, dropped back into obscurity. Now mounting a comeback with a tell-all book and small club tour with Nick Mason's drum technician, and Kevin Federline on vocals.
Just two lost trolls....
Agreed. He went the way of all flesh, once his head was turned by the associative Gilmour/Floyd fame. He started on wine glasses alright, thought he could handle 'em. Next thing you know he's onto pint glasses, still protesting to everyone that could handle it. Last I heard he was on Oktoberfest Steins and wasn't expected to be around for long.
