The man playing guitar on the left side was my father, Martin O'Hara. Shortly after this event he was diagnosed with cancer, and very recently after a long hard battle, dad has passed away. So this was one of dads final performances. It meant the world to him that people took the time out of their day to slow down and listen. It also meant the world to him when I told him how many of you people online have resonated with this moment. To slow down that day and stop to listen to those performers and singers was an effortless decision for any passers-by, but it meant a great deal more to him and I, it really was an honour. And dad died with that pride and peace that you gave him, so on his behalf, thank you so much for listening.
Mythic It sounds like your Dad was a helluva guy. I lost my Dad just a little over a year ago. He passed away on Feb.15,2019. If we could only go back and tell them how much we love them just one more time. And now sadly I have lost my Mom as well. She passed away May 28,2021. How I wish that I had just a little more time with Mom and Dad there is so much I would like to talk to them about and now I can't.
Sure they would, but I'm quickly losing faith that the human race will still exist as we know it in 100 years (if at all). People are losing their minds. We might all really be plugged into the Matrix under some awful global government.
9 years ago, I lost my baby sister. We would have found the nearest stadium and broke in just to hear the harmony of the vocals from the "average people". Don't ever think that because you're not the very best at something that you're not still a part of something amazing. If you doubt it, listen to the vocals from this crowd, it's amazing. Remember, you're always valued and always loved. And you're never alone, no matter how dark things seem, how bad you think things are or how much you think you won't be missed. I have a patch of skin that will prove you wrong. You are important, you are special, you are worth it, you are loved and we want you to be here. I know that trusting people is the hard part of opening up and looking for counseling, I'm a survivor too (even if I didn't want to be). But keep fighting to find someone you can talk to, they ARE out there, there are people that will listen. You don't have to go throught this alone. One last thing: I love you.
Such a beautiful thing to say... to share. Thank you. Depression is formless, tasteless, and colorless… as stealthy as Time itself and as depraved as a serial killer. It knows no mercy. It cannot be persuaded to give you a break, because it is the darkest part of you and therefore knows the best ways to darken even your brightest moments. I felt myself sliding down into it… being encased in it, yet I had lost the will to fight it. Hope had become a four-letter word. However, my family saw it and eventually helped me to overcome years of anguish… and years of pain. I suffered through physical pain, to be sure, but emotional pain digs far deeper. Some of you here know what I mean. I want to share something I wrote after finding myself through my battle with depression... something that defined my experience: I waited in the dark for a light to shine… yet this light, all along, was I

I can't fully describe how incredibly spiritual your father's and his two friends' performance felt to me. Then, Your comment describing your father's diagnosis and also his passing made me realize why the performance touched me so deeply. Whoa! Now that I've dried my tears and composed myself... What an absolutely moving experience! Watching this video has conflated two of my most treasured memories. First memory: I had the distinct pleasure of seeing and hearing Pink Floyd in concert in Tampa in 1977. I had just turned 15 and had no idea how fortunate I was to be there because when Pink Floyd returned to the US for the The Wall tour they only made two stops in New York and two others in LA. This is one of the many great songs I was privileged to hear. I'm confident that thousands of people sang along but the music was so loud you couldn't hear them. Second memory: three or four years later I attended a concert of The Rossington-Collins Band, which contained the surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. At the end of the concert they finally played the song everyone there had come to here, which was - of course - Freebird. There was no vocalist. A spotlighted microphone topped by the hat of the deceased Ronnie Van Zant occupied the center of the stage, which made all in attendance wish that he was there. For those who don't know, the song begins gently and mournfully, slowly builds in tempo and intensity, and then finishes with an ecstatic/cathartic 10 minute instrumental. So anyway, the tens of thousands of fans, without prompting from the band or anyone else, provided the vocals. It was a mystical experience, similar to the one conveyed in this video but on a grander scale and in real-time.
rvz77 Because it sounds as good as the first day I heard it, all those years ago. Transcending Time. You might be young, but I know my life is ending sometime soon. Live long with your music !

It must be an awesome feeling to know something you have written is so loved by the world that it can be spontaneously sung in a train station word for word by a couple of hundred people.
Earlier that day, the guitarist on the left received a cancer diagnosis and he didn't make it. I think the large crowd of people singing the song may have known him and came to support him play.
" Just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl ", some of the most poignant and heart wrenching lyrics ever written. So true, so real. Truly wonderful and emotional to see so many in unison singing this song, it was like an anthem that touched each and everyone of them and us viewing this clip. It is rare to see so many people form a choir and join in with buskers, certainly gladdens the heart in these days of gloom.
Nothing like a big group sing along. It has been a couple years since I've been in one. And this is such a great song to do it with. And so well done. Thank you all.
My younger sister just passed away from cancer sorry for your loss and beautiful song I am a Floydian and to all who have gone before shine on you crazy diamonds.
Wished I was there to hear and be a part of this. Pink Floyd will always be my main jam, even when I’m 80. If I make it there. I’m always playing Pink Floyd in my car at full blast. I’m in my own world and one person concert. This video was amazing!!!
It's amazing to see all these strangers come together as one. Our lives are very similar we're never too far apart. I got to big smile out of this. My dream would be everybody.
Because of the context in which this was played, and because of my personal situation, as much as I love this song, it never made me cry that hard. Thank you.
I dedicate this to my husband, my mom, and my brother who I miss terribly. They were my rock and the only people who really got me. They understood all my quirky sides. Wish they were here. 🦋🦋🦋
Just saying, if this is great to you, you should totally listen to the entirety of the Wish You Were Here Album. It's perfect, and I haven't found anything better to listen to since.
I saw the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour (twice) - and will always remember hearing 40,000 plus singing this song, honestly one of life's pure moments.
First album I bought with my first pay packet age 16 in 1977. Retired last year aged 58. Right now I'm feeling like my best years are behind me as we've been locked down for 9 months and I wanted to travel the world. I will get over it though and I know this is probably the first of 1000 views of this video from me.
I have no idea where in the world I've been all this time, but have just watched this video, and yes.. .cried my eye's out.... What an incredible testimony to the human spirt and the grace of humanity we all share. Then.... I read the note from the daughter of the man playing the guitar on the left, his story , her pride and love for her father, and I cry all over again. Wow, is about all I can utter right now.... and thanks for the gift of music and people like Martin O'Hara who shared their gifts and inspiration.
your dad was part of that amazing show!!!be very proud that he chose that song!! i play that everytime i visit my mothers grave!! yes,we are lost soles swimming in a fish bowl....think about it~! thank you ..................
This is my song to my honey we've known each other 46 years 5 years ago we hooked up through facebook I should have snatched him up when I was 17 now 57 thanks again!
I have lost count how many...Just how many times I watched this.. just to relieve this moment when an entire contingent stands up and sings an iconic Pink Floyd number. Yes I am not ashamed to share that every time I hear this i get teary inside. But something inside me tells me that I am lucky enough to have witnessed a phenomenon called Pink Floyd. Thanks a lot Pink Floyd for making me what I am today.

Small movements thru music
seeing on RUclips at BLACK METAL TEENS REACT TO PINK FLOYD
Beautiful, Dublin, absolutely beautiful!
Isn't it amazing , one of my favourite songs . I had the privilege of working in Ireland some years ago . Beautiful country . Wonderful people .
Sometimes we all just need a good cry. I watched this over and over again today and cried like a baby every time.
You and I, brother.
*Wipes eyes* man, these allergies out here crazy
No shit man!
Did you get the valuable internet likes you craved?
Lol
Nothing like a big group sing along. It has been a couple years since I've been in one. And this is such a great song to do it with. And so well done. Thank you all.
A slap in the face of those who say Rock should never turn "respectable".
I am so elated to know this many people know the lyrics.
@Venn Barr And we're supposed to believe you because you said it. Think you're a trump or something?
@@tedburg6042 lol TDS bigly
@@tedburg6042 That, and because it fkin says so in the description...
Beautiful.
Feeling sad for those who suffer from dementia.........but at least their hearts can feel it 😪😪😪💚💚💚
This video kicks me in the feels every time. The raw power of humanity uniting over something as simple as a song. Beautiful. 🥰

Yup, about Pink's age...
Incredible beutiful! Tears in my eyes. Love the lyrics. All that people together singing give me hope for mankind:
So nice to see everyone come together.......what we need more of now!!!!
This is wat happens when politicians aren't involved....💪😎🍺🇳🇿
who needs a train when you can sing along to pink floyd
I wish the world would come together like this more often.. music soothes the soul.
Well, half of them see the need to video their experiences so it's going to be awhile before people are present in their experiences with one another.
My younger sister just passed away from cancer sorry for your loss and beautiful song I am a Floydian and to all who have gone before shine on you crazy diamonds.
When music was music. Everyone of all ages and backgrounds could sing together. Love it.
This is a great song to do a flash mob to. It's well known and something easy for outsiders to join in on.
The power of music to bring people together.
My dream would be everybody.
didn’t know i was gonna cry, thank you so much for this.
This was a Heaven on Earth Presentation. How the crowd participated as in a Concert...
Because of the context in which this was played, and because of my personal situation, as much as I love this song, it never made me cry that hard. Thank you.
We have been so amazingly lucky to have lived in an era of truely heart warming musical talent. Thank you ❤
Choked up through the whole thing. Loved it. I’m 54 and I wish I knew this many people who knew the lyrics to this great song.
This was so beautiful and magical it brought tears to my eyes. 😭💙💙💙✌🤙🙏
Amazing how everyone can unite in peace through music 🎶, even for a few moments in time. 😢😢
I dedicate this to my husband, my mom, and my brother who I miss terribly. They were my rock and the only people who really got me. They understood all my quirky sides. Wish they were here. 🦋🦋🦋
I've thought about suicide a few times;this song&loved ones have brought me back
Just saying, if this is great to you, you should totally listen to the entirety of the Wish You Were Here Album. It's perfect, and I haven't found anything better to listen to since.
When you feel like this Gary, give Samaritans a call 116123. There for you night or day.
I saw the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour (twice) - and will always remember hearing 40,000 plus
singing this song, honestly one of life's pure moments.
Their best live concert tour as far as I am concerned. Beats Pulse.
my wife was passed october 2017, hope she could hear
Who else is crying
*raises hand*
caitosanna i do and have no clue why. love this song
I'm
First album I bought with my first pay packet age 16 in 1977. Retired last year aged 58. Right now I'm feeling like my best years are behind me as we've been locked down for 9 months and I wanted to travel the world. I will get over it though and I know this is probably the first of 1000 views of this video from me.
Everybody.
Absolutely superb. Rest in Peace Martin O'Hara. This touched me before and has done again. Thank you for bringing real magic into everyone's life.
This is a perfect example of how music can bring generations, together to overcome prejudices and improve the way we care for others.
I love things like this great song great people My America is in such a bad way thank you I needed this...
Kathy right with you. This put a smile on my day here in Alabama.

❤ ALASBUENAS Otia, vaya por delante mí sana Envidia....y APASALOBIEN TÛS y TÔS
This is my song to my honey we've known each other 46 years 5 years ago we hooked up through facebook I should have snatched him up when I was 17 now 57 thanks again!
I have lost count how many...Just how many times I watched this.. just to relieve this moment when an entire contingent stands up and sings an iconic Pink Floyd number.
Yes I am not ashamed to share that every time I hear this i get teary inside. But something inside me tells me that I am lucky enough to have witnessed a phenomenon called Pink Floyd.
Thanks a lot Pink Floyd for making me what I am today.
I couldn't have said it better.
The spiritual part of this video is not the just the song or the group. It wasn't random. The guitarist on the left had just been given a cancer diagnosis and has since passed. His son typed a comment to let us know. 😢 May he rest in music heaven.
So, so impressive, the performance, the song and the crowd participation. Timeless!
A fitting choice of song on such an important day, good on them.
