Was out at the pawn shop looking for some AK ammo and saw one of these on the rack. Turns out it’s new in box. Decided I wasn’t going to buy it today and left, got about two blocks down the road before I turned around and put a down payment on it. Gonna pick it up when I get my work check. Can’t wait. Thanks for the informative video.
Man I held one of those yesterday and I wish I would have bought it. But I didn't. That's exactly why I'm doing research right now seeing videos like yours. All right I'm going to go get one. Thanks for making my mind up for me🤣 Happy New Year to your brother!
I SO want to have one of these for the next time my German family visits us here in Missouri. (I'm a BIG fan of .22LR....easy to pack plenty of it but it'll hurt enough to deter.) I took them out shooting last summer and figured they'd shoot for maybe 15 minutes or so. 2 hours later and countless reloaded MP22 and AR-15 magazines they were grinning ear to ear as I taught them to say "Murica!" with each reload. It was funny and yet sobering seeing them enjoy a freedom that's strictly regulated and downright forbidden in their own country.
If you buy one and the rounds are jamming up, chances are you are using unplated lead rounds. Try using CCI copper plated varmints. They will cycle thru without jamming. I think the soft lead rounds catch on the sharp edges of the chamber and wont load properly.
Just picked up mine today! Florida in the US, came with suppressor! Great review man I’m really excited about mine! You answered some questions that took me too long to figure out on my own lol.
I cleaned mine and it seemed to have gotten much stiffer. Sometimes I almost feel like I have to be really agressive in moving the handle back. Ive taken it apart several times and checked everything. Still functions, but hasn't been the same since my first cleaning. Any thoughts on it? Thanks for the video.
Ive had one for awhile and my only complaints are the allen screw to separate the upper and lower and the sight picture isn't ideal. The length of pull makes it so the front sight floats around in the rear sight. But once you get used to it it's pretty accurate. Good groups. Quality seems good and it runs reliable on blazer ammo.
Is the barrel part under the sleeve rifled or can we just cut that part off and maybe locktite the front sight and add a thread protector and sbr it? Asking for a friend...
I have a picture of my mom's cousin in front of a Kübelwagen in Afrika Korps gear with an MP40 stashed beside a 98k by the driver's seat. (He was a driver for someone-picture claimed Rommel himself but I doubt that.)
In the states here that gun would land you 10 years in prison. Why? Because it’s barrel looks shorter than 16 inches which would normally be okay because it can be classified as a pistol but it has a shoulder stock making it’s classification a “short barreled rifle”. You need a special trust and to pay a $200 tax to get permission lol. It’s so dumb.
Yeah, the only way I can get the folding stock for my MP40 9MM is to SBR it through the ATF tax stamp cost $200 , the 22 MP40S you can have the folding stock without the SBR stamp , unfortunately we have radical Politicians trying to chip around our Second Amendment rights with crazy laws that doesn't keep firearms out of the hands of criminals.
Actually there perfectly legal..sold by ATI I've seen it at my local academy 😂thus guy knows nothing of u.s law u can own under over and side folders it just depends on the state your in😂
@@kyminuteman7897 I think you’re confused. The folding stock is totally allowed and legal and I never said it wasnt. I stated the fact that if your barrel is under 16 inches (or has an overall length under 26 inches) that classifies your gun is classified as a pistol, and pistols cannot have a stock unless you get a NFA tax stamp. A pistol with a stock is considered a SBR and to own one you need that tax stamp or youll get 10 years. Your gun store can still sell them but again youll need that stamp. You must not own any guns and just be a window shopper because you dont know sh1t lol. How do you not know these laws. There are a few exceptions to those rules like the mosburg shockwave and mauser C96 but that 22lr mp40 with a folding stock and barrel less than 16 inches is not one of them and owning one without a tax stamp will land you in big trouble.
The original MP 40 was made for the paratroopers of the Luftwaffe. It was so successful that it was later adopted by the Heer Wehrmacht and SS divisions.
That is ridiculous! In the United States, there are 12 states in the Union that have literally volatiled the Second Amendment rights and have been ruled Unconstitutional in the Supreme Court.🤔
I have a semi auto 22 cal MP40 - I went to a local gun store and all they had to sell was ammo that didn't cycle for my weapon - Can you recommend 22 LR ammo that has a reputation for good cycling?
I have the one with the huge fake suppressor as I am in the US and was thinking of cutting the barrel and finding a gun muzzle nut ? After I fill out BATF form 1 and go thru that process.
I meant the fake extension as the real one just had a muzzle nut in front of the sight with the shorter barrel for some reason you have one with an extension instead of a 6 inch Fake Suppressor which I assume is to reach the 16 inch length for US use?
@@imperialbricks1977 They do it two ways in the US, pin/weld the stock in place and sell it as a pistol, or leave the stock normal and pin on a fake silencer.
I notice the stock isn't quite the right angle when unfolded, it goes straight out, rather than locking open at a slightly down angle like on the original. It seems like it would be pretty easy for GSG to make an MP42 variant, with the Bergman MP18 style wood (or fake wood) stock.
My buddy bought one of in 22lr. , I understand these are replica’s. But what a disappointment, found it clunky and cheaply made. Maybe if it was in 45acp. it would be more fun.
nice gun ,but i'm kinda disappointed that the magazine hold only 23 rounds,i mean 22lr is a small and thin bullet and that magazine looks pretty large ,how can it only hold 23 rounds ?a glock 22 extended magazine for 40sw holds 22 rounds and 40sw is a much fatter round than the 22lr and the magazines are about the same size.so how can the 22lr only hold 23 rounds ? it's absurd.

Sweet. Thanks for showing disassembling and cleaning. Looking forward to your GSG-16 video next.

This is awesome. A nice little plinker and looks so nice too. Looks so damn fun. Appreciate the vids. Cheers
I got the 9mm and love it ,, totally awesome, I literally believe my AR-15 is jealous because I have been giving the MP40 more attention 😅.

Hey, You mentioned plastic. What is exactly plastic on it? just the handle?
How did you get one without the faux suppressor? I really want one of these by I don't like the way the suppressor looks.
Just picked up mine today! Florida in the US, came with suppressor! Great review man I’m really excited about mine! You answered some questions that took me too long to figure out on my own lol.
@Nigel Hopkins It is threaded, so yes you can screw the suppressor on or off.
Is the mag plastic ? I heard some are

My uncle fought his way through WW2 with the 9mm version of this gun.

Was your uncle a german conscript or...?
I wonder if he was shooting it at my paternal grandfather in Italy?
A beautiful weapon, I bet he was amazed with its low recoil and quickness of easy to change mags. Your uncle has been thru hell, I bet.
My grandpa used that and a kar but he actually got hurt in a camp I believe he was defending it
Round count on the mauser mp40 22lr? Any issue?

Still legal and no mag cap

Would be highly illegal in Australia (it looks like a firearm).

I just ran this one with a good selection of high velocity bulk stuff. Seemed to run most anything.

Ok Thank YOU....MY FRIEND
I'm getting one tomorrow.
I turn 18 in a couple months might buy this for my first gun I’m a total ww2 nerd didn’t think they would sell something like this in Canada
How many rounds do you have thru this gun? Any serious issues? Reliable?
waiting for gsg to make a fg42 model

MIne broke after 500 rounds. The breech block strips the threads. Started a warranty claim.
They also sale a 9mm version of this.

A 9mm version would be great; as close to original as possible.

Capacity wise, would also be nice if it could take pistol mags.

Is there any difference with that one to the gsg one ?
I live in Cali.. our version of this has the fugly barrel
I will no longer buy any GSG product. Bought this MP40 and found out one screw was missing. Took a photo and sent an email to GSG, no response at all.
Im having hard time deciding between this and gsg-16.
I don't understand. Is it an SBR or does that little thing on the end reach 16 inches?
No such concept as SBR in Canada.
