      I’ll be picking up my 20 wrx tomorrow and have been doing tons of research and Ron’s website has has soooo much good info compared to most other tuners. I’ve heard nothing but good things about him so he’s def the tuner I plan on going through.

    If anyone needs a good reputable tuner for their Rex or sti check out Shinji Tuned nothing but good things to say, and his prices are very good.

    Great informative video! What is your suggestion for handling scenarios where a check engine light may be due to a etune and general check up (details below)
    I did my first etune and it did not go too well, check engine light came on and he did not provide much communication or suggestions. Though a fair argument was that he can't troubleshooting without being in person...
    So how would you recommend handling getting your car serviced/troubleshooting in case you run into issues while etuning?
    Is the etuner capable of diagnosing similar with data logging or is it up to me to find a nearby 3rd party subaru shop (incase my warranty was to he voided now due to modding).
    Thanks in advance!

      Hey! So my best advice would be to use the Accesport to scan your codes and see why your check engine light is on (which code it's throwing) and that will give you a general idea of what is wrong. From there if it's something simple to diagnose and repair that would be great but if it's something confusing or complex I would message your tuner and let him know which check engine codes you have and see if you can send them a data log to see if they notice anything out of thr ordinary. Usually a tuner can remotely diagnose things to some extent. They may be able to say "it looks like you have a boost leak" but they won't be able to tell you where it is without physically having the car. But it's a great starting point

    Great video! A lot of good info here. I have a question, if I get a GESI downpipe, exhaust, intake and tune, will I have to have a check engine light due to the new Cobb greenspeed stuff?

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 года назад +2

      Gesi downpipes should prevent a CEL. Grimmspeed advertised that their V2 Jpipe won't cause a CEL.

    Hey can you do a video about tuning options for the FA20/24 motors going forward because COBB isn’t really an option anymore. There’s tons of info on this subject for EJ platform but I haven’t seen much for the FA.

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 года назад +1

      I'm sure I could but Cobb definitely will still be a great option as long as people aren't boycotting them. They are actually already making big progress with a new compliant flex fuel kit. But I think the only other option outside of Cobb is open source with a tactrix cable or a stand alone ecu. I think Cobb will still be the go to for most casual builds and street cars and open source and stand alones will be the go to for higher hp applications and track builds.

    • @CoolKid-gc3xz
      @CoolKid-gc3xz 2 года назад

      Maybe I was misinformed but I heard that opensource was only an option for EJ’s. Personally I have a 19’ WRX that is setup like yours on E85. Eventually I want to throw on a bigger turbo and EWG headers. Would there be issues because of my downpipe? I also heard ecutek is an option as well. Would love to hear your thoughts.

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 года назад +1

      @@CoolKid-gc3xz I know of a few people running open source on the FA20 platform. I actually have the same plan of larger turbo and ewg header. I am unsure how it will work because I won't be able to retune with my accesport. I plan on keeping the Accesport around just to monitor things but I would probably have to switch to open source or ecutek. But ecutek is actually owned by Cobb so it is going to end up the same way as the Accesport it's just a little behind. As for the downpipe you should be able to still get tuned but they won't be able to clear any codes caused by a catless setup. I would talk to your tuner about your options but I think if you switch to a Grimmspeed Gesi cat downpipe it won't throw a cat efficiency code. But I'm not 100% sure.

    I'd like to hear your thoughts on the jb4 piggyback for the 2022 wrx.

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 года назад +1

      Honestly I don't know enough about it to make a judgement but a lot of audi and bmw guys run the JB4 and some people have had good results on the 22 already. I am curious myself to see what all the JB4 can do with the 22 wrx but I've only heard positive feedback so far!

      @@StreetInspired1 thanks for the reply. I'm on the fence to buy one right now. I'm not planning on going too big on power. Probably just full bolt ons. But you know what happens when you get to that point. Spirals quickly.

      I've honestly never had thay problem before, I would imagine you can but I'm unsure. I would reach out to Cobb Support and ask them about the situation and see what the best thing to do is.

    how much does it cost around

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 года назад

      It will vary from tuner to tuner, the Accesport is currently $650 but I think they are increasing the price soon to $700-725. And the tuners usually charge anywhere from $400-1,000 depending on modifications and fuel. But on average I would say around 500-600

    Isn’t an e tune a guess? Unless it’s done on a dyno with proper afr and knock sensors, it’s a bit of a wild Stab in the dark? Sure some e-tunes will produce better than stock results but can you really be sure of no knock? No leaning out in the top end? Even same cars can have variables in them stock

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 года назад +2

      That's the point of the datalogging. The tuner can see afr and knock etc on the data logs and adjust accordingly. After you're familiar with how a certain engine behaves and that's all you do all day long it's takes all of the guess work out. I think a good etuner can get results just as good as a dyno protune without ever physically touching the car. Ots maps however I don't like because all cars will have different variables even stock as you said and one car could run great on an ots map and another car could blow up from that same ots map.

    • @lucian7182
      @lucian7182 2 года назад

      If you go with a Cobb certified tuner”they have a list on their website” it’s definitely not a guess. They ask what parts you have a start by sending you a base map for your setup. They ask you to take different logs for example 15 min mixed driving/ cruising, street, freeway, hills. They will also ask for WOT logs typically after the first revision. My etune from Shinji tune took 4 revisions. In the 4th revision I sent probably 6-8 different logs so we could make sure everything was great. I can tell you for a fact that that the afr are much more stable and consistent vs stock or Cobb ots. I also get way less knock or fine knock learn reading compared to stock or Cobb ots. The most fine knock or feedback knock I’ve seen is -1.00 -1.4-2.8 is within normal acceptable range. 0 knock at wide open throttle or under boost. Keep in mind a tuner doesn’t necessarily have to be emission compliant they are often in different states. Therefor it’s easier for them to give you a healthy tune for your car because they don’t have to worry about it being emission compliant like stock. I have a stage 1 + etune on my 21 Sti. It puts down 286 whp and 322 torque.
