      @surpiers Год назад +8

      @@pandabear1576 I honestly don’t agree though. The bigger fighters he went up against required a more defensive style which stemmed from his brittle hands because his opponents were significantly taller, had higher reach, and were biologically stronger. Canelo is a natural middleweight/light heavyweight, and was a stronger fighter than Mayweather, but because May was so good at his counter-punching and being defensively responsible, may schooled a fighter with 40 wins and no losses.
      Mayweather probably would not have beat any of the attackers/pressure fighters later in his career {Canelo, Maidana (admittedly a smaller fighter), De La Hoya, Hatton who’s a natural welterweight, Cotto etc.)

    • @pandabear1576
      @pandabear1576 Год назад +1

      @@obama7828 that’s not accurate at all. Floyd was bigger than a lot of his earlier opponents and he has the real of the average middleweight at 5’8. His only way to win was the same way he always fought. People confuse the occasional shoulder rolls with the fact that he used a high guard more due to pressuring from fight 1-50

    @winningwithwarriors9914 Год назад +2

    I train pro and amateur fighters and my philosophy is, the best amateurs fight like pros. So I watch the Olympics, to scope out the fighters who look the most pro-like.
    At his Olympics, Mayweather was the one that stood out for me. He was 18 and you could see, at the slower pro pace, he could go places.
    When I read things like, Mayweather never fought enough champions in their prime. That comment alone, makes me know, the person wasn't around to see Mayweather in his prime. If they were, they would know, it became obvious, very quickly, that Mayweather would be avoided. When he fought between super-feather and super-lightweight, he was a monster! He was knocking people out with skill, balance, speed and power.
    The fact is, the manner in which he beat everyone he faced and in particular, Augustus, Chavez, Hernandez, Corrales and Gatti, meant none of the other champions, who were also in their prime, would risk their titles against him. He was so clearly far ahead.
    The classic example is, there was alot of press about Mayweather vs Cotto.
    Cotto even put in an appearance at the Mayweather vs Gatti bout. During the bout, the camera panned onto Cotto. The look of horror and worry on Cotto's face, was a picture!
    Jim Lampley said, "You wonder if Mayweather vs Cotto, is going to be made anytime soon, after a Mayweather performance like that!" How many years later was that fight made?
    Or when, without going to check, I think it was after the Corrales fight. Mayweather was reeling off some names he would be willing to face next. Although I rarely agreed with Larry Merchant, when he spoke in this instance, he spoke the truth. He stopped Mayweather from reeling off those names, by initially shouting "errr, errr, hold it! hold it!" Merchant then proceeded to say, "None of these guys will fight you, after seeing that!" He was 100% right. None of them did.
    Hearns, Leonard, Hagler, Hopkins, Lewis, Tyson, Jones Jr, are among those who tell you how good Mayweather was.
    Jim McDonnell, who trained James Degale, told me this. He took a fighter over to America and the young man sparred Mayweather. After the third round, he had in his mind what to tell the young man to do. He said, "As the young man was on the way back to the corner he said, I know exactly what you are going to say Jim, I'm trying everything but none of it is working!"

They don't realize Floyd had over an 80% knockout ratio in the first half of his career. Philip N'dou, Chop Chop Corley, Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah, Oscar de la Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Cotto, Robert Guerrero, Canelo Alvarez, Marcos Maidana to name a few, If you think these fights are boring then I don't know what's exciting means to you.

      @@raulratonmacias1377 I never said his style was boring. I said Pretty Boy Floyd had a more entertaining fighting style than Money Mayweather to me. Money Mayweather was content to win a round by a single punch. Pretty Boy Floyd wanted to knock his opponent out every single round they fought and took it personally when they didn't get KO'd. I haven't watched any of his fights in years now but I can tell you one thing, his fight against Connor McGregor was really boring. He straight up carried a bum for four or 5 rounds longer than that fight had any right to be. And he did so on purpose. It takes skill to do something like that no doubt but it's not very entertaining. Pretty Boy Floyd wouldn't have wasted more than 2 punches on him and the fight is over.
