That transition from "Burger King!!" Straight into the heavyweight highlights was hilarious
Haha glad you liked it!
he likes his burger king
James Toney is the Shaq of boxing. Both are considered all time greats in their sport, but fans still speculate what mightve been if they took training more seriously.
Toney was so calm under fire, it's amazing to see him unphased by an onslaught of attacks since he knew he was ready to strike back.
Trivia: Toney and Shaq are cousins.
@@louduva9849 No fucking way. Fr?
@@ballo3595 yes they are first cousins
@@ballo3595 yup. They are unironcially considered first cousins.
Huh. Small world.
Imagine James Toney in this middleweight era 😂😂😂😂. Easily would be the most ducked fighter
I don't mention this Era with the greats
Nah, GGG will fight him
Nope
@@gungrave10 GGG ducked Andrade and Charlo. Don't think GGG was personally scared but his handlers wouldn't take the risk.
@@chadtep7571 Andrade is a bum
One of my favorite boxer of all time
Many boxer who got chin tend to slight defense but Toney was a specialist of defense with a granite chin
Never seen him hurt
He is calm but with a killer instinct
His fight against Iran Barkley was a masterclass
Love him
He got hurt a few times just slightly through his career, but the only time I really seen him hurt was against Samuel Peter, James got smacked good and had to hold on to the ropes, it took a heavyweight KO artist to actually hurt him.
@@JuggoJuggo and hit him in the back of the head on top of that. Toney got robbed that fight
Another lovely summary of the great man
Iran Barkley fight was hard to watch. He just wouldn't go down.
@@JuggoJuggoAgainst Peter it showed that Toney had some true grit. Most fighters would have packed it in.
Grand Master in boxing
"Let the beatings begin"
-James Toney
I think Toney would demolish everyone today from 160lbs to 200lbs. He is in every sense of the phrase built different and his style cancels out just about every other style out there.
Counter punching is not only a taught or developed skill, it’s also a form of character. It is a skill that can be enhanced by training.
Agreed. I feel like a lot of boxing style comes down to a fighters personality.
@@sergioflores9246 totally!
So pussy? Got it 😂
No seriously as someone who spars a good bit I hate counter punchers they wear on your patience.
That’s how you beat them though. Easy technique is to “steal” rounds. Don’t let them cut the ring off keep moving. At the end of the round with guard up get close and hit them with some flurries. You need to be careful but most counter punchers like to fight on the outside obviously. Most don’t want a close in fight which makes them less likely to hit you with power shots. Also most counter punchers are rhythm fighters you just have to figure out what disrupts that flow. Usually getting inside and clinching can do that.
A lot of counter punchers win because they simply have more patience than guys of other styles. They get us to act like idiots out of boredom or nerves. If we don’t than it’s easy to win lots of rounds.
So yeah styles and weaknesses are more a clash of personalities.
@@mikehatten5738 The key to any martial art of fighting techniques is to adapt and evolve to the opponent. While your in the ring it takes study & observation of how they fight. Then as a good fighter, developing a strategy to deal with it is key.
Being aware of your fundamentals and weakness is key to this, a lot of heart and focus won’t go a stray. If all fails, then be prepared to have a good defensive attitude. Timing is an attitude. Anyway it’s always going to be hard.
@@mikehatten5738 you have to have some serious skills to be a pure counferpuncher and make it at the highest level.
If boxing is an art (and I think so), then Toney is Picasso. One of my favs ever. I never get tired of watching his fights, so this clip is phenomenal, creme de la creme.
Chess with violence.
There's never been a defensive fighter like Toney who also brought power speed timing and an unbelievable ability to counter punch. He was the total package.
He was the definition of natural talent.
He hated training and loved sparring
@@Nimvarprobably why he sounds the way he sounds rn
@@vince11harrisyup but it makes monsters, thomas hearns did the same thing
His trilogy with McCallum was a master class of the sweet science
Tremendously skilled fighter. So slick.
Amazing tribute to one of my all time favorites. The master of real estate, one of the best at controlling distance, foot placement, and being economic. No wasted movement, everything with a purpose.
A Masterpiece Upload. Much Appreciated! The Legendary Dark Emperor! 🥊🔥
James “Lights Out” Toney. First time I seen him was on Fight Nite 1. He’s ones of the most underrated and under appreciated fighters of all time. Shout to James Toney, and shout to you and your top notch content!
I love how you showed both versions of James Toney. The lighter version and the heavyweight James Toney. Incredible work. Well done.
The Burger King clip is the greatest segue in a video you've ever done
Haha thanks I had to include it!
He is 5'9" fought from middle to heavy weight what a legend
Man Toney Was a phantom in the ring his defence Was beautiful ⭐⭐⭐
this dude is such a legend. burgered up and fought Holyfield.. what a guy
Lol
Beautiful to see this. Toney is underrated legend
James Toney is the boxing definition of being game
Another lights out video by Hanzagod!
Toney essentially was an old school, Golden Age boxer-puncher fighting in modern times. One of my favorite fighters of all times.
One of the greatest and he called out everyone and his so funny with his trash talk
It must be really frustrating having someone stand infront of you the whole fight, and slipping all your punches with counters. On top of that his face is nonchalant the entire time.
Toney was so active as a fighter that Hanza can literally make a 7min video of James from only 1 skills aspect from Toney arsenal.
Lights out was probably the last “old school” fighter fellas 😔.
Could have been even longer too I had to cut quite a lot out otherwise it would have gone on forever! Haha
i think floyd was the last old school fighter.
@@cheetoyeeto1232 Nah, not in my humble opinion. The training and dedication was there, but he didn't really have the "anyone, anywhere, anytime" mentality.
@@ogreface8 literally spent the first 9-10 years of his career calling out numerous guys who either ducked him or ended up losing before a fight could happen.
@pandabear1576 Bullshit. He did the dancing and ducking and game playing. It's the black marj on his legacy.
Hands down one of the Greatest that ever did it!!!! Period!!!!! Respect to Lights Out James Toney!!! I would have loved to see him fight Marvin Hagler!!!!
Toney and golden age hip-hop works so well!
Yeah Big L was running that shit
One of the greatest to do it, hand(s) down (literally)
The best to ever do it. Lights out in da house!
Probably the most naturally talented fighter i've ever seen. His skills were unreal. If only he would have spent his whole career at 160 lbs, he would have been the greatest MW ever. He was a joy to watch at 160/168 lbs.
I would say Roy Jones Jr is considering what you’re saying and that Roy toyed with the dude. No disrespect, but Roy is proven to be the most natural talent you’re gonna see in a fighter
@@thorn3802 Roy was all athleticism. He never had the fundamentals. Once his speed and reflexes were gone, he got knocked out by everybody. So, in terms of natural talent and skill, i still say that Toney is the best i've ever seen.
@@thorn3802toney was drained Asf n plus he nvr did road work n still gave ppl hell nvr been knocked out either says alot

Hanzagod and Rainy Day Boxing were neck-and-neck for the best beat selection for their boxing videos. This vid might have put hanzagod in the lead. Couldn’t have picked a better song for James “Lights Out” Toney! I haven’t even played the whole highlight because I already know how dope it will be.
Guy was born to fight man. Never hear him complained once, called everyone out, physically incredible body. Tiny head, long arms broad shoulders and the most rigged chin in the sports history. That’s why he could just stand in the pocket all day with anyone because you could tee off on him and if you manage to get passed his defense without eating a monstrous looping right hand, toney can just take your shot and not get phased.
Damn that's a highlight real wow amazing amazing counter-puncher
James Toney did put the Lights Out on his opponents even the great ones with his great counterpunching.
One of my all time favorites. Talentwise one of the best i have ever seen
Excellent video, truly a beautiful piece of work. Thank you Hanza

Salute, NZA.🍺 Another gem.🎯I draw strength from your videos.🙏
Toney as a middle weight was pure poetry.
Lights out baby 🥊
Great beats as always
Amazing video ✅
Toney is the modern day Ezzard Charles.
Good comparison! He reminds me of Henry Hank as well.
Would be incredible to somehow see them fight in their primes at light heavyweight.
@Jean-Etienne Toullin Because was simply naturally bigger than James.
But skills for skills you can’t say they aren’t close
@@yvans. Wrong. Ezzard was a natural middle weight, he started out as a middle weight with same day weigh ins(no rehydration nor weight cuts). James Toney was prob 170 after rehydrating for middleweight(he had to cut alot of weight, in hs for football he was around 200 pds). Ezzard's frame eventually and naturally grew into 175 after he realized he wasn't going to get a shot at the middleweight crown(he was avoided for being too good, even at light heavy). James Toney had food, modern nutrients, and a lack of discipline that lead to him growing out of all the weight classes to heavyweight. Ezzard would whoop him bc he had faster feet(james was stationary, which was his weakness), faster hands, better power, and skills as good or better than Toney.
@@jahjawesome5615James upper body defense made up for his lack of footwork
another masterpiece
A highlight masterclass!
smoothest fighter of all time
I think what is absolutely right for everyone - Toney is a man with who most interesting to fight/sparring. For real, its both dangerous shooter and some chess match)
Awesome😮
Before he went up in weight, Toney was a beauty to watch. A very good defensive fighter and counter puncher. His fight against Nunn was a real classic.
Toney cut down to middle weight when he started boxing
If I was a boxer I would be James Toney - smooth and beatiful
THE REAL TBE. NEVER RAN. STAYED RIGHT IN THE POCKET!
Veramente un fenomeno! Uno dei miei preferiti di sempre
My guys style is exactly what a master looks like. Incredible
I've told you this a lot but I'm gonna say it again. Best boxing page for highlights on RUclips. I appreciate how you make highlight videos for underappreciated boxers. I've said for years my dream is to have you make me a highlight video

The James Toney that beat Iran Barkley would never have lost a bout.

Hey Hanza! Could you show off a Juan Manuel Marquez counter-punching masterclass too? If you can?
Sure that's definitely one for the future

Heavyweight Toney is hilarious😂
Levels to this sport..
Natural talent. Imagine if he'd trained properly and kept his weight down.
The transition from middleweight toney to Burger King toney was so good hahaha
My birthday is on the same day as James toney 24th August let’s go champ!!!
Growing up watching this guy in his prime, these young fans just can't get it by watching clips or fights after the fact - those of us who knew boxing just KNEW we were watching an absolute throw-back legend.
One the best to ever do it! Hanzagod we need a Caleb Plant video!
I do have one here: ruclips.net/video/0g_RoR9JTGg/видео.html but I could make an updated one
Lights Out 🥊
1 of the most skilled boxers I ever saw. Toney never held the arms of an opponent. Nope, he defended with head movement and upper body movement. He was also accurate and had excellent timing. Maybe he was 30 or 40 pounds overweight near the end of his career but a former middleweight champion defeated several good heavyweights just with slick moves and accurate punching.
Pure MASTERCLASS what a fighter right up there with the very best.
goat
Old school hip hop - best sparring music
There's a lot of questions to ask when studying and analysing Toney's style; one Q that's gotta be at the top of the list is "How the hell did this guy get that much fight IQ"?

Gotta love the James "Two Tonne" Toney phase.
