When she said that a master's job is to protect her slaves, I felt like a lot of puzzle pieces just put themselves in place. Since she couldn't admit to having Hajime as a "friend", she calls him and other people she cares about her "slaves". Hiyoko really does like him... And it was nice to see someone like her who is somewhat rough around the edges warming up to Hajime. Still, she is a hit or miss character when it comes to likeability; you either hate her or love her, and you can change your opinion any moment if wanted. It just adds to her unique personality.
She's just like Komaeda. Now personally, I believe that you should always give people a second chance, and try to know them on a deep level before judging them, and both of them are pretty unlikeable at first. The big difference being that Komaeda is literally insane, but at least in his own way, believes he's doing something productive. Also he's crushing on Hajime so hard. She, on the other hand, doesn't really do much, but I guess I can't fault people for being rough when they've had a hard life, which is why I usually like dickish characters who turn out to have super sad backstories. Togami can go fuck himself (the real Togami)
We would know here a lot more if she wasn't replaced by Fuyuhiko but the choice was decent. Still in my opinion, I'd rather have Akane the Aoi clone sacrificed instead of hiyoko.
I hate the game creators for killing her off right when we started seeing a bit of Character Development, but.. meh... This IS Dangan Ronpa after all. you absolutely can't have a favorite character without them either being murdered or them murdering someone.

Hiyoko is really sweet and she deserves more love than she's given credit for. I can imagine being put in her shoes is rough. To list, she was taken from her parents, she apparently didn't like her mother, her father had no real influence, her clan operates according to old strict traditions, she's obviously a late bloomer and her traditional secular lifestyle has made her more detached and helpless compared to the others in DR2. So I don't think it's anything personal on her part when she bullies others and it's not out of malice, it's from detachment and due to the environment she was raised in. Sure her grandmother apparently pampered her well and she admits to being grateful, but it's not ideal. She has a soft heart underneath her bully act and just wants to protect anything or anyone she cares about, and wants others to protect her as well. She may be just as old as the others, but on the inside she's still a little girl who's scared of the outside world and feels weak both physically and emotionally. It's obvious why she latches onto Hajime and Mahiru so quickly - they serve as role models and examples for her to follow and strive towards, and also to comfort her. When you understand the context, Hiyoko becomes a much more sympathetic character and touches on the 'black sheep' feeling that plenty of people have. To me she's become someone that I just want to lift up and give a big hug to.

Hiyoko is such a precious child and I don't like how people treat her like an anti christ being just because she is mean to pretty much everybody, but like you said, It wasn't out of malice, it was just a way for her to cope with her detachement and lack of safe environment that she was bullying people, especially Mikan, because she might represent what she hates the most about herself : The feeling that she is weak.
I always refused to watch this video because I wanted to unlock this ending by myself. Today I´ve finally seen it... And I cried. I cried so hard and I didn´t expect that at all. Some of Hiyoko´s Lines in combination of her fate and the overall opinion on her just broke me. I just want to hug her, telling her there are people who care about her and that everything´s going to be allright.

Actually, there is a reason for her being a rude and disrespectful person that it's even been stated in game and by the creators. Hiyoko's childhood was filled with people she thought was her friend trying to kill her for her talent. Hiyoko as met problems like needles being put in her shoes, other dancers trying to crush her with stage lights, and so on. During this time she believed the only way to be safe is to be rude and disrespectful, and her shell is extremely hard to crack because of it, the only two characters that were able to crack it were Mahiru and Hajime in game, before the disaster it was Mahiru, Ibuki, that one girl who I forgot about that got murdered, and even Mikan who were all close friends with Hiyoko before the disaster.

Actually, there is a reason for her being a rude and disrespectful person that it's even been stated in game and by the creators. Hiyoko's childhood was filled with people she thought was her friend trying to kill her for her talent. Hiyoko as met problems like needles being put in her shoes, other dancers trying to crush her with stage lights, and so on. During this time she believed the only way to be safe is to be rude and disrespectful, and her shell is extremely hard to crack because of it, the only two characters that were able to crack it were Mahiru and Hajime in game, before the disaster it was Mahiru, Ibuki, that one girl who I forgot about that got murdered, and even Mikan who were all close friends with Hiyoko before the disaster.
