Wow, Fuyuhiko was probably one of the loneliest characters in this game. I mean, for a lot of his lines after you ask him to hang out, he is LEGITIMATELY SHOCKED that someone would want to hang out with him. Damn, that's pretty sad.

He's one of the only characters that got some actual development. Hiyoko was starting to develop, but as soon as she did, she was killed off. Same with Peko. Aside from them, the only other character that got some proper development was Hajime himself, everyone else seemed to stay the same all game.

In early development of Chapter 3 Spike Chunsoft wanted to kill off Fuyuhiko instead of Hiyoko. But they scrapped the idea because that would make Peko's sacrifice worthless. (Thank god they changed their minds...)
+Dr. Cardus Was Fuyuhiko supposed to play the same role as Hiyoko? You know, to accidentally run into the crime scene and getting killed for that? Or was the third murder completely different?

I feel like Fuyuhiko and Mondo would have got along in the normal high school life. Well, without Junko's influence at least. They're both initially hostile to the people they meet, cuss freely, and do their best not to be perceived as weak. They deeply respect family ties to the extent that they both brashly catalyze a homicide in trying to honor a deceased family member, and go on to regret their actions. They both have a cute side too. I read that some bosozoku go on join the yakuza as low-ranking gangsters, so a connection makes sense.

Fuyuhiko was great because he developed, he became accustom to violence and death his entire life, yet he was able to go beyond that and believe in protecting his new friends. Great writing.
Well both games had:
The main character with spiky hair and an ahoge.
The stoic aloof girl with braided hair.
The shy brunette girl with a murderous dark side.
The sporty brunette with big boobs.
The muscly beefcake who's best friends with the sporty brunette.
The chubby guy who makes a lot of inappropriate jokes.
The angry gang leader.
The PUREST, MOST INNOCENT character in the game, who is also proficient in dealing with technology.
The blue haired singer girl in a sailor costume.
The eccentric guy with black hair who shouts a lot.
The grey eyed girl with freckles who totally has a crush on the main character.
The evil blonde girl with her hair in two pigtails.
isn't ibuki more black hair with highlights instead of blue? plus that list shows one thing in common, they are all different from each other if you pay attention to their free time events and how they react in certain situations.
Celeste isn't shy at all and her hair's black, if that's who you meant.

I mean they have similar aspects and even some of the concept art is reused, but they still somehow manage to feel different

Fuyuhiko turns out to be one of the biggest bros as the game goes on - even if his major turning point came from his pursuit of vengeance, he really grew as a result.
It didn't. Fuyuhiko wasn't really after vengeance, it was Peko who misinterpreted his intentions.

@@IchCharacter Fuyuhiko would be the first to admit he was there for vengeance, Peko misinterpreted that he wanted her to kill Mahiru but he still lured Mahiru there and brought a bat which he went for and drugged Hiyoko. It's only when Peko died and he saw how much grief he caused by indirectly killing Mahiru that he changed

One of the few minor characters to get a full story and development in the background. Now with so many characters it does get difficult to write great arcs for all of them, and for the most part I think the games do a good job at giving most of them satisfying enough stories, but this was definitely one of the stronger bits
I wouldn't really write off any of the characters who participated in a killing game as minor, but yeah.
