Thank you! I just did this on my mini cooper countryman 2011. Live in Wisconsin and we have lots of salted roads so it got rusty. I had to heat the shaft cherry red, applied a wax crayon then used your hammer drill. The hammer drill worked exactly like your video. If you come to Milwaukee dinner on me!
God Bless You Griff, that is pure Sorcery Magic, lol. Worked like a charm on my R56 hatchback. Wish I would of known about this when I did my X5 axles. Awesome tip, well done and appreciated. Amazing how God works, I just bought a Ryobi One 18 volt cordless electric chisel/impact drill and it worked perfect for this application. My tip; Jesus is coming to Rapture the church very soon and the Tribulation is at our door step. Believe in Jesus, that he died for your sins and repent. There is very little time, don’t be left behind. The tribulation will be horrific.
Thanks for the tool info Gene...nothing like using the proper tool to get the job done. And speaking of "the proper tool" would you not agree that the Holy Scriptures, God’s Word The Bible, is a wonderful tool to help us learn about Jesus, “God’s Son” (Luke 3:22) (Luke 9:25) (Matthew 17:5) as he is the prefect image of God Almighty (Colossians 1:15-16). Jesus taught us to pray for the only "solution" to all of mankind's problems at (Matthew 6:9-10) namely God's Kingdom, of which Jesus is definitely enthroned as king over God's Kingdom (Daniel 2:44). 🙏🏽
Well, wish it had worked for me. This sucker isn't even thinking about budging. Told the customer the trans needs to come out if they want to go further with it
As a professional mechanic, I have never seen such a mountain made out of a mole hill. Never mind chiseling a grove in the cv axle, if you were to reuse that axle, not replace, you have just shortened it`s life. You will have distorted the lands inside where the rollers run. It would soon fail.
Alan, That is so true. Sorry for the late response... An individual would definitely have to exercise caution with the pneumatic hammer tool (as used in the video) if in fact they had any inclining at all of rebuilding/re-using an axle or any moving parts, in any situation or complicated repair job. I wanted to emphasize more of a level, delicate push on the casing in the video, rather than a gouging effect. Remember, in the video, only when the implicated force is level and straight, would the snap ring dissingage, freeing the axle. When did properly, not much tool force is needed leaving you the option to rebuild if desired. Also my video was solely based on "Pull and Replace" only, not necessarily reuse. Again I do appreciate your deep concern and keeping an eye out for us all. Thanks

It worked me and a couple of others in this thread. Why would it not work for you. If done properly just follow the steps provided. Be safe!
