- Is your TV talking back to you when changing your TV channels, volume, inputs, or loading apps? This is a feature known as talkback in Sony TVs. It is found under accessibility in the TV menu. See how to access it and turn it off in this video. Your TV menu may look different, if you can not find talkback goto the Sony support site below. Then type in your TV model number and look for where talkback is in your TV menu.

On my current model Sony there’s a shortcut whereby if you hold down the mute button for 5 seconds the talk back feature will enable and disable. I think this is how many people are unknowingly enabling talk back.
Tested, and sure enough, this toggles the feature on my TV as well. Great tip!
@@fraxhead7304 Thanks for finding this also, I added this information in captions to the video.
Thank you AUSSIE!!
Hi Aussie, I accidentally activated this irritating woman last night on my remote. I can't seem to remove her by pressing the button to unmute her. Is it by pressing for 5 secs on the Mute Button? Thank you
I'm pressing hard for more than 5 secs and she's still on 😢
I am not that tech savvy. But your instructions were easy and clear. My new Sony Bravia was a little different in the settings. But the accessibility was there. Thank you sir. Now I can watch my TV in peace. The talkback was making me think I was sitting on a shrink's couch..LOL. Thanks again.
Thank You!!!! My talk back was off, held the mute for 5 seconds worked for me!
Thank you! Saved my sanity. Somehow this feature got enabled on my TV. Apparently it was the Notme Ghost... :)
When my tv is off...i get the talkback...usually the automated voice says 'looks like something went wrong' shits me up at 3 am. Not expecting the tv going off at that time.
Thanks so much!! It worked!!
You are my bestest friend.. thank you so much!
Thank you ,that was doing my head in
Thankyou sooooo much h. I don’t even know how it came on but have been trying to turn my remote talking back off!!!!thanks again
No problem, glad it helped.
Thanks for your help 👍
Thx man.
Yesterday I was looking for that.
Edit:
you can press the MUTE or MUTING button for 3 seconds to quickly turn this feature On or Off.😉
Hi
I’ve spent all morning trying to get talk back off my tv , even after following the instructions on this video I still had talk back !
I read your message and pressed mute for 3 seconds and no more talk back . Thank you 👍👍👍

Hah no problem man. I'm glade to hear this fix your problem. 👍👊😎🍻
Thank you so much sir...
Thank you so much.. 😀
Thank you 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Thank you, Nicely explained. I'm looking for a any reason to get rid of my tv and replace it with the best OLED preferably not a Sony. On the other hand, I think you just saved my tv. Thanks!!!
It is irritating woman and I nearly wanted to go to the shop today to get a different brand as Sony gave me lots of problems since i bought it new in 2020 😢
Thanks alot
Thank you 💕
Thank you
thanks it worked
I had a hell of a time finding talkback option on an older bravia tv its like they went out of their way to hide the option no youtube video helped as it wasnt in any of the settings
This worked. I activated it from the "quick settings" bar at the bottom but it would not allow me to turn it off again. The Home button route was the key.
Nice, that is exactly what I have noticed also, making the home button the way to go.
Thanks
Thank u
No matter what I do, I have TalkBack off and it's still speaking and I don't even know how to fix it. I've went all over RUclips and the manual for the Sony xbr-75x850e. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks
I would suggest doing a reset on the sony TV. You find this in the menu, and then setup your TV from start again. This resets the TV back to factory settings out of the box.
@@FisherElectronics Royal pain in the derriere to have to do this. I've always had Sony tvs, but this is the most frustrating experience I've ever had with any tv, including Sony. Seriously considering returning this tv.
thanks. tried everything could not turn talk back off until i found your video
Thank you so much!!! I don't understand how it turned on in the first place 😕
There’s a shortcut if you hold the mute button down for 5 seconds. That’s likely how you accidentally turned it on / off.
I don't seem to have System and Accessibility in my Settings. I have a new Bravia Sony TV in 2020. Can you advise me? It's irritating woman
Why in the name of God this is even a feature on the Sony remote is beyond me. Everything is overengineered today.
Yesss
My Sony tv still doing the talk back ;(
look for Screen Reader. in the same section
i had to also turn off Screen Reader..
Work for me too!!! Yea
I did but when I do that then I can’t at all have any sound after that
Try unplugging the TV from electricity (find the power cord and unplug from the wall). Wait 5 minutes, plug it back in and see what happens.
Ya this isn’t working. Even turned off the text to speech in accessibility. Mine isn’t saying anything in the menus but when i go to any streaming service it speaks everything.
I don't think the problem is in the TV at this point. I would look in the settings of your streaming device for this feature. Or if you are using the apps built in the TV check the settings of those apps. Lastly if it is still happening and you are using the apps in the TV, you can do a factory reset. If you do that you will have to setup everything from the start again.
Worked for me. Talkback is somehow connected to MUTE. HOLD THE MUTE BUTTOM FOR 5-10 SECONDS AND TALKACK WILL BE MUTED.
Have turned off talkback. But still it's no use ..it's still talking back ..how to fix it
These videos are not made to support models that are not American. I would suggest unplugging your TV from power for around 5 minutes, then try again. Check for software updates on the TV. Otherwise contact Sony.
Thanks for this. I've turned mine off but I still get spoken search results when looking for apps to be installed. Can that be turned off too? It's driving me nuts.
@@MattCruse look for Screen Reader. in the same section
But she is still talking when I do a search for something. How to get rid of that? She says 'results for'.. so annoying. Thank you
Yup. That's not going away.
