Thanks for this video. I’m in the middle of upgrading my old pc from 2009 and am happy I saw this as I thought I could just throw in whatever gpu, but now I know it’s not the case with the stock psu
I built up an old Dell T7500 Workstation and it worked great, until a close lightning strike blew it up along with my water heater (flood). Now I'm waiting for my Dell Optiflex 9020 to arrive so I can start the build on it. I prefer the larger tower PC's because you always have a lot more room to fit in a graphics card and they usually have more RAM slots. My T7500 had 28 gigs of RAM and two quad Xenon processors, with a low budget graphics card that I already had. That beast (78 pounds) had SEVEN fans inside!
I've been trying to play games like Halo MCC and Minecraft on my family's aging HP computer, and its starting to slow down and it often crashes at the drop of a hat. I like the idea of buying a $20 desktop and upgrading it! this really helps!
Great advice, Zach! I ran into that Dell mini-PSU problem recently with a NEW PC, bought in an "emergency" situation when my son's very old PC died at the start of a vacation. Seemed like a great deal -- I told him we could just put his GTX 1060 in it when we got home, but....well, you know. Ended up having to buy a bigger case to accommodate a bigger PSU to power his GPU, then a new mobo with standard front connectors so the case would work, and...In the end, tossed the new Dell except for the RAM, HDD and CPU. It came out good, but not the bargain we started with. Needed more research!
Whenever someone does stuff like this all I can imagine is the pc going “YO WHY TF WE GOING SO FAST” as it’s processing the data of everything and not crashing
I got a similar thin client. It has 4GB RAM, a Core 2 Quad and an onboard graphics chip, and a 270w PSU. It actually runs Windows 10 pretty well. I was looking for a GPU to put in it, the 1030 looks like a pretty good option. Great video!
i also bought a second hand hp pc , and i was wondering wether i should upgrade to a current gpu such as the gtx 1050 or should i wait for the next gen of nvidia gpu's... any tips ? p.s my current gpu is the gt 730.
Hey alright 14k dude the last time i looked it was 11 very nice well done its only gonna rise up lol sometimes i get your intro audio stuck inside my head its a darn catchy tune haha .
I found a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 with the same CPU and the guy said is overclockable and I also found some 2x4GB DDR3L ram but I don’t know if the DDR3L rams would work with the mother board(it has ddr3 slots) I also found out it has 1600 MHZ pleaseee helppppppppp
I found a great deal: A new Dell Optiplex 3020 with 8gb RAM, 240gb SSD, i5-4590 with Windows 10 Pro for guess how much: 92 dollars! Planning not to really upgrade anything other than maybe the RAM, but the PC looks great and is pretty small. Planning to paint it, too.
i m building a new pc with i3 12gen and rx 6500xt can i use old motherbord (somewhere from 2006) in new build can my motherboard and psu will fit in it ? as per look motherbord looks big enough to support a psu and micro atx mobo
I have 2x Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF with a 240watt psu and an Emachines EL1352 with a 250watt psu. They all run without issues with GTX 1050Ti. The 300watt requirements that nvidia state is for the total systems recommended wattage supply. The GTX 1050Ti is a 75watt card, so absolutely no issue running this card with a 220~250watt PSU in such OEM small form factor machines.
I know that this is not related but I bought a prebuilt PC which comes with a small case and a Lenovo motherboard (which doesn't come with a model name or serial number), how do I identify the motherboard's size? (ATX, ITX, mATX). Thanks
If anyone wants to do this here's my advice. Look online for computers for sale locally, my advice is go for an hp or Dell with a 3rd or 4th generation i5 or higher. For hp the envy desktops that aren't smll form factor work best, they typically come with 12 or 16 GB of RAM and a PSU that is usually capable of supporting up to a 1050ti without upgrading it. (Although I'd seriously recommend upgrading the PSU) they can be had for around $200-$250 but while more expensive than this one from the start offer far better value for the money imo and can run gta v on high settings at a solid 60fps while in online and other games as well no problem.
So my computer overheats and the power supply is messed up. Should I try getting new fans, removing the dust, and getting a new power supply or should I just get a new pc? Thanks!
I can’t answer that without seeing it, but I would definitely try to give it a good cleaning and even reinstall some thermal paste before buying a new one.
I got 16GB DDR3/ my CPU is a AMD FX-8370 Eight core/ an my grafic Card is a Radeon R9 380/ and the Motherboard is an ASUS M5 A97 R2.0. What should I upgrade ?
1:32-1:50 is just one solution phrased differently....idk if he forgot he said the first one or he really thinks those are two separate solutions. To clarify for him if your PC only has 1 slot for RAM and you need more than 4 gb, DO NOT scrap your ram and buy two 4 gb ram sticks....buy ONE 8gb or 16gb stick. furthermore for all power calculations you can use neweggs pc power calculator and itll tell you how much power your computer needs
Thanks Zach. I found a ten year old gaming pc in the dumpster when dumpster diving and it still works. It has an intel core 2 quad q9300, 4gb ddr2 ram, gts 450 gpu, 2 320gb we hdd’s and a 400w power supply. What is a suggestion for me to upgrade it? I will gladly appreciate it. XD
Eh i kinda doubt it can be upgraded to a point it can play all new games at decent setting with over 60 fps. Even if you got a decent gpu the cpu would bottle neck the pc since its a dual core and since its that old i doubt it even supports hyper threading. The ram might be too slow but idk much about ram. Maybe it can work if you use duel channeling but idk. I doubt you can even get ddr3 ram or higher anyways since the motherboard is so old and even if the motherboard supported it the cpu wouldn't. If i were u i would just sell the parts on ebay or something and try to get a decent pc with at least a i5 cpu 8gb of ddr3 ram and an available pcie x16 slot to add a good gpu for the price like a GTX 1060 3gb. Maybe a dell optiplex lol
Before I was planning to build a pc from scratch so I bought a amd gaming motherboard. Yesterday I got a decent intel computer. Should I swap the motherboards and go with amd and upgrade ram and get a new processor or stick with intel and upgrade ram and keep i5 2320 processor.
Desperate Question: I'd like to upgrade my 2011, 21.5" Imac. I bought it for $20, it works and I was thinking if I upgraded the RAM from 2 gb-10 gb, the CPU, maybe the graphics card and changed the HDD to an SSD, I could play modern games on my Imac with no problem. 0.0 i found same specs in a dell vostro for 90 GBP, so i'd say keep looking. if its the best you can get wherever you live though, i would recommend it over the i5 2400
Hey bro nice tips btw I’m gonna ask you a question do older HDD affects games and boot up? Mine was getting slow over time and my FPS is getting crap from avg 200+ Med High to 03-01 fps Lowest settings (League of Legends)
Good video but some computers aren't even worth $20 anymore, I believe the fastest compatible cpu for that machine is a e6700 dual core at 2.66ghz. That won't get you much gaming today.
