HardCoreMore That would ruin the desired character of the car. A big, lazy V12 is exactly what they were going for. It's not supposed to be violently quick. It's supposed to be calm and VERY smooth while you ride the massive wave of torque. It should never feel like it's in a hurry. Mercedes did the same with their S600. It had a big ol' twin turbo V12 that "only" made around 500 HP, but the smooth, effortless way it accelerated was the perfect match for the type of car they were trying to make. It's a very Rolls Royce-esque approach to car making.
Just because it is a V12 does not make it better in any way. It's just a heavy and unefficient engine in a big sedan. If it was a sportscar it would be exciting, but in a luxury car it's just meh.
I dont want to sound like a fanboy but you guys crippled the 760 somehow when carwow used that car in 2 test both times it did low 11 sec 1/4mile i think 11.2 or .3 and here it does 12.1.....ya somethings off boys i love the porsvhe and obv would take that any day over the 7 but i call bs on this test

Porsche : when they gave their 918 to Chris harris to compare it with la Ferrari and the P1 they did not send any crow with it unlike the other two cars , in the Panamera case they claimed a 3.8 sec 0-60 and did it in a 3.5 sec and they didnt even bother to give the Panamera turbo S for this comparison.. i love their confidence in their products 👍🏻👍🏻

They should have used the Panamera Turbo S Executive model. It has 6" more leg room in the back, and has a 6" increase in the wheelbase over the sedan. The back seat is comparable to the 760iL's.
i just realized a massive difference in the 1/4 mile time for the bmw.. you guys tested it at 12.1 and carwow tested it at 11.3 it got me thinking what could have made such a massive difference ..
I am an owner of the current m760 (2017) and been to the drag stripe several time. I can tell you that carwow’s timing is biased. The best I can do with mine for quarter mile is 11.5 (almost empty tank), average around 11.7, traps a little bit above 120 (123 at most) But then again, 12.1 for the m760 is painfully slow as well, just not as fast as 11.3
the m760 is the best looking executive car ever made !!!! the proportions are perfect, thats what makes it so great, i've heard people mistaking it for 3 and 5 series, it doesn't look like a large car

Like the Rolls, the M760s engine isn't tuned for top speed runs but rather to pull it's own wait and around so its understandable that the Panamera won. Porsche always do more with fewer horsepowers

How is the Panamera crap? It’s well built, handles really well, far more reliable than most German cars.... This turbo isn’t as quick as the E63S or F90 M5 but it’s still superb. If you want outright power, the Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid is available. The Merc and BMW can’t touch the hybrid.
BMW is much more heavier, it’s limo for to be driven in, and it’s not in class with Panamera. Also Panamera got 4WD vs RWD. Aand Panamera is in class with A7 (S7/RS7), BMW M6 and CLS63, not with 7 series, S class or A8.
I never understand, charging same amount of money, doesn’t mean Porsche is in the same league of 7 series, S class or even A8. It is something in between 6GP and 7, CLS and S, A7 and A8, so Porsche won’t have direct competitors. But it NEVER will be the full size luxury sedan in my opinion.

u have more torque...more power...but delivering the power via the transmission into the wheels are not as efficient as PDK transmission...its the gearbox that finally determine....how to harvest all the power from the engine ....its the gearbox in the Porsche has the edge and this is coming from a BMW guy :)

This is not the same class, panamera = 5-series = E-class = A6.
Porsche does not have a competitor for the 7-series.
Errm, hate to be the one to point out that both the 2001 M3 GTR and 2017 M4 GTS are both stated as 3.6s.. so the statement about it being the fastest is not strictly correct. However, this is absolutely beautiful car and for it to even come near to the so called "track" offerings.. in my opinion.. unbelievable!

u have more torque...more power...but delivering the power via the transmission into the wheels are not as efficient as PDK transmission...its the gearbox that finally determine....how to harvest all the power from the engine ....its the gearbox in the Porsche has the edge and this is coming from a BMW guy :)
60 happens in 3.1 sec in California there was a bmw dealer that sent a few cars to see if the cars where good enough to be sold and the m760li did 3,1 , BMW M5 2013 3,8 AND the x5m 3,6 sec in California tested

A more power equal Panamera turbo S would have had the BMW for snacks. BUT the true measure in my opinion is not a drag race. That just tests part of the engineering that has gone into these vehicles. A true test is always lap times, where Porsche is the perpetual King.
Also there is no Panamera that will beat n M5 at any year even a 2013 M5 with the v8 smokes the 2013 Pan GTS I'm a street racer n race muscle cars n if ya ever saw a peddling job like this race was then you don't know shit granted the beamer is ten times heavier but the torque of a turbocharged V12 is insane n ya also don't compare a luxury sports sedan vs a sports sedan watching these guys n there false facts just pissed me off

What's a couple tenths of a second in the quarter mile. For me the obvious choice is BMW. More room, more luxury, and I think a way better looking car. But if you like sporty I guess then the Porsche is for you.

So the BMW is faster at least on the paper.
BMW 7 series is nice, but hands down the Porsche Panamera steals the show on this one.
If you like to bump up and all around in your seat like these guys did in Panamera then you should by one. I'd sacrifice 0,3 sec. for comfort of the BMW 7.
