Furiosa A Mad Max Saga was one of my most anticipated movies of 2024. having loved Mad Max Fury Road back I 2015, I had high hopes for this movie to deliver a similar experience. That being said, I was slightly disappointed with this movie despite it having some decent moments.
Whilst the film had some great set pieces and decent performances, I felt like the film was trying to cover too much ground and I personally feel that the film should have been split in two parts or at least have some of the first part of the story told in a sequel comic or something released online to promote the film.
Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke all give decent performances across the film. The story could have been condensed or told across multiple movies in mu opinion.
'Snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers, young Furiosa falls into the hands of a great biker horde led by the warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel, presided over by the Immortan Joe. As the two tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa soon finds herself in a nonstop battle to make her way home.'

@@gregmccurry8040 Furiosa provides a great creative foundation for the plot of Fury Road, for example we now understand why she tore down an empire and ripped off someone's face trying to get back to the green place when she clearly had it made in Joe's cult.

The point I made in the video is that I feel the film was two stories and not one. I think there were two stories which could have been fleshed out. I get why it was unrealistic to make it into two films though.
Movie was dope. I do wish it used less green screen like Fury Road did and I wouldn't place it above Fury Road. But I do really like the contextualization it adds to Fury Road. It was fun watching it after and seeing things like the Rock Rider Chief sporting some small horns similar to the Octoboss and them being Remnants of his gang.
I agree the movie was long. My main gripe with any new movie. Performances where amazing. Cinematography was stunning. But wanted to leave after 2 hours
Originally Miller wanted to film this and Fury Road back to back.
That said if you went into this movie, expecting Fury Road you will be disappointed.
However Furiosa is a good movie.
I was clear why I was disappointed with it in the video. I don't hate the movie by any means. I feel that this could have benefited from being two films because I feel there are two distinct stories. I get why they didn't do it though.
Yeah, and it was supposed to be anime according to Miller. But due to mid gains, producers put Furiosa on hold. Fast forwad few years and Miller was working on Max's movie when a female producer greenlight Furiosa.
I do like the film, and I like it's like live action anime.

I think I gave valid reasons why I was let down. Some of the comments I've had, you would think I said this is the worst movie ever made.

Cmon the first film was about Furiosa and so was the second mad max was an ancillary character in the first, be great if they made a mad max film
Honestly, if they adapted the game to film I think it'd be awesome.
I liked this movie more than Fury Road tbh. I didn't feel like the situation at the end make too much sense but it did give off mythology vibes

How did Demetus escape the final battle much less with no one pursuing him. He would have been the primary target to kill since he was their leader
I also liked that Anya Taylor didn't talk much. Her character had some trauma
I totally agree that this film should've been two films even if it was a lot slower than Fury Road. Miller had Anya Taylor Joy and the girl played young Furiosa really well, the studio really missed a great one-two combo for Furiosa's life. And two films would've made the revenge on Dementus a lot more satisfying.
I like the Furiosa spin-off, and the last two movies have been amazing, but after this movie, my dad and I both said, "Can we have the Mad Max movie now?"
I had a good time with this one. Not near the adrenaline rush of Fury Road but Alyla Browne and Anya Taylor Joy did great as Furiosa but Chris Hemsworth was the show stealer for me! I did feel some pacing issues but overall it was an enjoyable return to the wasteland. Great review!

I think if I hadn't seen Fury Road this would feel less like the "diet coke" version of an existing cinematic experience.
Compared to many other movies Furiosa was pretty solid, but compared to Fury Road it was lacklustre in almost every conceivable metric.

This move was a good time. I'm going sit through this review, but I'm not sure what you're on about with the title.
Well I felt disappointed by it, but I had very high expectations. I didnt hate the movie. I felt it was too long and had two distinct stories to tell. But it is just my opinion. Everyone experiences films differently. As I said it has some shinning moments.

This wasn't supposed to be Fury Road 2 and I feel like that's why all the fanboys are so upset right now. There's no way Miller could've topped Fury Road, so rather than go overboard on every aspect of the production in a vain attempt to one-up himself he decided to finally start filling in the gap between Thunderdome and Fury Road. Furiosa wasn't even supposed to be it's own movie, either, so to me that makes the final product even more impressive when you consider how it contributes to the overall plot.

Yeah im surprised at some of the comments I'm getting. I'm not saying it to be provocative, I gave my reasons why I thought it was disappointing. People seem to think I said this is the worst movie ever made.

Too much CGI, but i loved the rest.
Good acting, nice design of the cars and locations, awesome action and the brutality was not too crazy

The CGI was a slight let down. Fury Road had great CGI and is 9 years old. Some shots in this film are on that level but some is quite obvious green screen. Is what it is though.
I agree I found it disappointing. I felt the story lacked the depth it needed also.
My two major story gripes were ***SPOILERS!! ***
When Imortant joe takes her to become a wife as a child and she eventually escapes due to erectus.
I would have liked to see an acknowledgement from Joe later on when she has become a driver of the war something like *so that's where the disappeared too, or huh I only ever saw you as a breeder* something.
For somebody so protective of his "wives" as seen in fury road. He doesn't seem to care that his perfect and healthy new child wife has just disappeared.
Second gripe. Furiosas whole thing is to eventually get back to the green place. It's her ultimate goal, even her goal remains this in fury road.
She promised her mother she would plant the apricot seed in the green place. So to waste her mother's seed in Dementus's crotch. Just felt campy to me. And a wasted opportunity of her holding onto her last hope of the green place.
And then in future road when she realises the green place is Gone, she would still at least have the seed.
I also had issues with the ending of Furiosa feeling a little campy, but hypothetically she could just wait for another fruit to grow and then she'd have more peach pits. I assume she's clever enough to figure that out if she could tear down an entire empire in a desperate attempt to find her family. Other than that, you have to remember it wasn't supposed to be a standalone production so I think Miller did a bang-up job getting it ready for the silver screen.
The fact that this film relies so much on CGI is disappointing. The whole point of Mad Max is that it feels real, stunts, vehicles, landscapes. Fury Road was insane and this is sadly not. Also Jodie Comer would have made a way better Furiosa IMO
Fury Road has to be the worst one and really had little to nothing to do with the originals(Road warrior/Beyond Thunderdome(not including the actual first one which really had nothing to do with series)). This Furiosa was more closing matching the original Road Warrior/Thunderdome and very entertaining minus some of the poor CGI scenes
Hell nah. Furiosa is like a poor CGI parody of Fury Road. Less than mediocre in every way, story, music, characters, visuals, pathos..
