I love the Damned, always have always will. Saw them in 1977 and 1979. Dave and the Captain still doing the heavy lifting. Rat's good but has his manic speed inducted energy has waned, but hey we're all older. Brian is frail yet can still carry a tune. Dave is tremendous, still got it, great voice, brilliant showman, one of the best, yet most underrated front men ever.
Pretty fair assessment. Dave and Cap have definitely aged the best (especially Dave), and I think one very big reason is that they’ve been staying at it for so long. I have this theory that if you keep doing the things you love, as long as those things aren’t of a self-destructive nature, in spite of society telling you to ‘grow up’ and play by someone else’s rules… you can stay younger for a longer period of time. And with that in mind, Dave has seemingly barely aged. Or… maybe he really is a vampire. 🧛♂️
Stevob Dont know if you know But he damaged his hand Whilst they recorded the black album. Back in the day I played that album to death. I only found out recently he was drumming with one hand ... Never noticed... That is a shit hot drummer. No question..
Thankyou for the positive comments from the people who actually went to the gig..Of what I have heard and seen from this footage they seem pretty good considering they haven't played together in a while. To the people who have made negative comments, what did you expect? Maybe just be happy they actually got it together..Rat sounds great to me and Brian, even though he doesn't seem too well is trying his hardest 🤨😏😉
I saw them in a tiny town in northern Bavaria in 1977. I still remember the captain when entering the stage opening a bottle of beer and pouring it over his head.
@@zellah Maureen, the first ever gig I saw was The Damned at the Hammersmith Odeon (Now Apollo) on 3rd December 1980. Never thought I would be seeing them again there over 40 years later.
I saw 3 of the 4 original members at a show over 20 years ago, I've loved and collected the Damned since I first heard them around 1979. I was holding my 8mm video camera low in stealth mode to film the show. The band sent a roadie over to me who said, "the band sees you videotaping and they don't give damn, so go ahead!" Then I got to hold my camera up high for the majority of the show, what great bunch of guys!
I love seeing Rat… still in excellent form. he’s my punk drumming hero. Along with the rest of these gents, all legends. Reminisce…My first Damned record was the live in Shepparton 1980 still can’t top it. some one stole it from me. Haha fuk
Great to see one of the most iconic bands ever back together with the original line up. They were one of the best sounding Punk bands with these guys all playing.
Seeing this band is always a huge Privilege, no matter what lineup but this is even more extra special. Thank you so much for putting this, I couldn't travel to attend these shows, so seeing the videos is a great thing. I've said for years I want Rat back, it simply is not the same without him- he is the Heart of this band. And bless Brian James for delivering, despite his frail/worrying state. The Damned are a Master Class in sheer rock'n'roll excellence.
I was there! On the disabled viewing platform. All my footage is rubbish, so I'm so glad that you got some decent quality material. Rat Scabies blew me away - he's still got it!
Don't you find that we get put in some terrible places? I saw Cradle of Filth from the disabled area, behind a huge column at the side so we couldn't see any of the band, unless they stood right at the edge of the stage. The only person we saw was 1 of the performers, I don't know what to call them. They weren't members of the band, not dancers, but they stood on stilts (that's why we could see the one nearest us) & held an angle grinder to their stomachs where they'd attached a plate so they gave off lots of sparks. Mind you, I can't fault the group, they sat with us in the disabled area as they recognised the other couple in it from another gig. The 4 of us had been chatting & the group came & sat with us before their set for about 15 minutes, when the support group was on. They arranged to meet us afterwards to go for a drink, but I was taken ill & we had to leave early. The only decent disabled area I've seen was at a venue called Rio's in Bradford, Yorkshire, in the1990s & early2000s. You were right at the front of the audience. It always felt that they put some thought into disabled people, unlike other places.
@@angelaburrow8114 God, yes. Saw The Mission this year, put one meter in front of a massive PA, guaranteed bad sound and tinnitus for a week, could only see half the band throughout the whole gig. When I bought the ticket the venue promised me a space on a disabled viewing platform. There was none. Some venues are better than others, some places really think about disabled gig goers, some treat us like an afterthought, forgetting that we've paid our money too!
Thanks for upping this, I would never get to see them otherwise. They are real troopers who love their fans, putting on the best show they can for love of the music. As a musician I can tell you I know they did a hell of a lot of preparation for this gig and didn't take it lightly. No real musician would. I just admire the hell out of them for the enthusiasm after all these years, that's dedication.

I was there this night on the floor, it was crazy down there LOL. Second night I was upstairs basically where you were shooting from. This was so amazing and I'm so happy I was able to make it over from LA to experience this in person!
Used to think Killing Joke were my fav band as even though I've been into the Damned since 82 didn't get to see them live until 2015, I left that gig with a big smile, and since then I've realized that the Damned are indeed my fave band of all time. Sadly I missed this as not well so thanks 4 the post.

Even though Brian is probably not well he's still tight with the riffs.
All four of them delivered.
I have a few photos of him smiling in Manc and Glasgow. That’s what choked me up!
Never was a problem well or not but usually others do. I'm glad he's on tour with the rest.
You gotta love that rat on the throne again it’s refreshing 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Lovely seeing the old Rat!
