The Damned Phantasmagoria era 1985-1990 was epic!!!!! Some of their best music and live performances!!!! Grimly Fiendish, Shadow of Love, Is it a Dream, Anything & Eloise...... simply brilliant!!! Cheers
Seen the damned plenty and watched lots of damned RUclips vids but this has to be one of the clearest sounds I’ve ever heard- esp of Dave’s singing Hope the damned go on for ever
Good version of "street of dreams". What nice n ironic is this song first surfaced in 1985... and Dave Vanian is the ONLY one off that recording who's present here!
Songs 3 through 5 are in their exact sequence from the opening of side 1 of "the Black Album" from 1980. The Damned are known for having excellent album-opening songs; of the 13 songs played here (I am counting "Machine Gun Etiquette" even though it's not listed given its link to "Love Song" just like on the album), 5 of them were album lead-off songs.
@@dillanma It`s always hard for the support act and unfortunately The Damned are not that well known to the Motörhead crowd here in Germany. I really enjoyed both bands. Lemmy had always a good taste for his support acts. God bless him. :-)
From the underwhelmed response of the audience and the amount of Motorhead T shirts they're wearing, it's safe to say this was a support slot for Motorhead.
I saw them in 1987 in le transbordeur in Lyon. There were the darkest figure of the band,Rat Scabies, who didn't accept to stay for my interview.I didn't recognize the guitar and the bass player i was young ,but who could forget the amazing Dave Vanian? Not me!They play hall and a hour,Capitaine Sensible was not there, but it was wonderfull.
I LOVE THE DAMNED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the damned, saw them a couple of times back in the day, in fact at one gig in west Runton pavilion someone behind me had threw a can at captain sensible and he stopped the show and was yelling at me for throwing it , luckily a bouncer saw the guy do it and threw him out instead of me. Phew!
Esse show é tão bom, The Damned sendo incrível, todos animados, os caras entregando tudo e o publico moh morto. Dose. Eu ia estar alucinado e cantando a plenos pulmões. Amo essa banda 💚
slap me in the face, but they are "The Doors" on speed. Fantastic!! I've known the name of this group, but never hear the music - what a big mistake. So fit like so many young boys wish to be.
It takes a while for the mix to sort out, but once it does… Street Of Dreams has never sounded so good. No offense to Rat or Roman, but Captain really gives that song a little extra OOMPH that it doesn’t have in it’s ‘85 form, and Pinch holds the beat down perfectly. Nice way to open.
I`ve followed the Damned since 1978 through all their ups and downs and numerous band members but just can`t stand the sight of this keyboard player and his idiotically cliche self-conscious "Woh,look at me,I`m your really CRAZY Uncle" act....he reminds me of all those dorkish schoolteachers who try so hard to be "down wiv da kidz maan",or "Yoof TV" presenters like "Timmy" Mallet....So naff and cringey.
They were one of the first and even one of the best... but their time is over.....for a long time. Saw them in the mid nineties and they were as boring as here.
Y'know, I'm only about 10 minutes in, so I still need to see the rest to be completely objective..........but I'm feeling what you said. For all the life they have on that stage, there's no 🔥!! I'm not sure what it is. Maybe they've gotten too old. Hell, maybe I'VE gotten too old, lol!! 😆 Dave and the Dammed were one of 3 "inspirations" (the other 2 being U2 and Depeche Mode) when I went through my mid to late 20's as the lead singer and business manager for a clearly unsuccessful heavy-metal band, lol. Dave was SO INFLUENTIAL to me that I "ripped off" his Phantasmagoria-phase hairstyle; long blue-black hair, with the same strip of white, like the Bride of Frankenstein. LOVED THAT LOOK!! 😍 My singing was that register, relatively baritone (much like both Daves) and served me well. But, like most bands, we were popular, but not popular to the point of having a career out of it. But "Life goes on".

absolutely i saw them in the time in Frankfurt Batchkapp.....
Man, some acts in their prime don't even sound this good. Mind blowing performance. And Dave looking so very Vincent Price makes my heart happy
I had to remind myself this is love and not the album. 😮
The Damned are a bunch of freaks and I love it. This is an incredible performance!
They are still popular in 2020. Great music always lasts
And in 2024 😊
dave sounds so, so, so, so, SO, SO GOOD
...and Capt. Sensible's bkgd. vox ain't too shabby, either!
the most underated band ever.
Happy talk
@@broken1394 talk about things you like to do...
Another underrated comment.
I never understood why they weren’t more well known outside of the punk listeners.
The most overused comment ever. At least one of these can be found, in the comment section of *insert band here*.
Seen the damned plenty and watched lots of damned RUclips vids but this has to be one of the clearest sounds I’ve ever heard- esp of Dave’s singing
Hope the damned go on for ever
Most underrated band of all time, with one of the best rocksingers ever
LOve how they play the Black Album songs in order, what a gift for old fans
Kick ass, what a great show the best Punk band ever
una banda de punk épica, genial y enérgica a pesar de la edad de ellos y ni un amague de pogo el público...
Pogo is verboten in Germany! :0)

I was at this show. The Damned were the support act for Motörhead. Both bands were great that night. :-)
I prefer the Dnd to M'head but I'm surprised Motorhead were the support act.
@@bigtwit799 No. The Damned were the support act.
@@Franky58135HA My bad. Eh hed a liddle too mush Whiskey!

What a setlist, and lineup! Two masters at their type of music.
Saw the Damned live a while back, was hands down the loudest gig I've ever been to
Have you ever seen Motorhead?
As a kid I loved ' Smash it Up' .. I loved how a band actually released a hit song about smashing things to bits 😎🤘
His voice sounds so young!
One of the best bands ever
Dave's always had a superb voice, and more style in his little finger nail than most front men have in their whole bodies...
Best band ever

and so dam😂 good live
enjoying this concert so so much its neat neat neat
I LOVE THE DAMNED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!!
Saw the Damned support Motorhead in 2014, absolutely superb 🎸
Rest in Peace, Bryn Merrick, it was Nice meeting you ...
I'm in love with a video nasty
they are coming to Adelaide in a few weeks June 5th, very excited

Best live band ever
They weren't better than the Ruts live
I was at the MGE tour 1980...
Ruts set a bar that night as a support act 🤘🤘 for the Damned

My favorite moment was when the keyboardist caught the dancing bug and became the band's #1 fan in the middle of "New Rose"!!!
It's the only song he has literally NOTHING he can play on! I love Monty's spastic dance!
Monty is as Monty does 🤣
Phantasmagoria, a hateed, underrated masterpiece! I'd love to see them play that whole album.
YEEHA! Fkn brilliant!
I have to witness this band in action
Que show legal !!!
Isn't that Machine Gun etiquette after Love Song
Great show. Thanks for sharing.
God save this Band❤
The Captain isn't bothered if the audience doesn't quite get it -- he's dreaming of a lovely hot mug of Tetley Tea and a buttered bun! :0)
レアな曲も演奏していて格好いい!
こういう高齢者(失礼)になりたい!
あなた方は、本当に素晴らしいミュージシャンです!!!
love them :)
Great perfot
They always change the sets up and this one is great except no Plan 9, Channel 7!!!
Great band on a tremendous roll...I only wish captains guitar were a bit louder...
Falta su mejor tema..; shadow of love.Por supuesto Eloise tema del gran Tino Casal!!
Thé damned for ever ..!!!
Que banda del bien. Lamento no haberlos descubierto antes.
Al menos los descubriste con un monto de música que descubrir de ellos. Mejor tarde que nunca!
Long live the dammed 😳😳
That crowd are dead!!!!!
Captain couldn't even get a "woooah" out of them during Ignite, very poor :(
They came to see Motörhead. The Damned were the support act that night.
“Zee Germans” at their best
Those are some cold krauts standing around during those last 3 songs, inexcusable.
Lemmy a legend more than Motorhead... The Damned mean more in rock 'n' roll history than Motorhead ever will
1986年、東京でライブ見たぞ!
Looks like there playing in a cemetery
Cliff Richards audience!💥
Greg gig, but why is the keyboard mixed so freaking loud?
A shame that they did not play "In Dulce Decorum"...
I love the damned. WTF is up on the keyboard?
Silk layers might come back in
Just a tiny bit less of Keyboards and a little more of guitar sound to be perfect...
Bäst, helt enkelt !
😍
Come to México!!! Please 🙏🇲🇽
good sound and camera work. Set too short ;-)
I want and Amy seeking tickets

❤️💯🍻
For music alone, I may say it, up the Brits & Celts!
Dave should bleach his hair and have a black streak now he's older, I reckon it would look cool
Pretty sure Dave has a Dorian Gray picture stashed in his attic. Not aged at all, even tor 2014.
39.27 Punch it, Captain! :0)
Is it the original line-up? Great performance, but recording is well, not so good...
No Brian James or Rat.
Nah. If it was then you could say it was a punk gig 🤣🤣🤣
needs more cowbell
Not the Damned. 1/2 of the Damned.
The crowd really do not get it!
I told ma gal I luvs her and she better love me back or else!! I plays he some Garry Glitter music .
We Germans enjoy music, any music, even in concert - ähemm let's say a bit introvert!!❤❤😢😂❤❤
Falta Rat Scabies
Great!......2 plonkers didn't like this!
they were shit in the 80's...still are
Is that the worst audience ever?
Mancw

Monty is great. Leave him be to his dancing.
Nah
Leave off
He’s fine
He does all that because he’s a true damned fan before he was in the damned
You’d be excited too wouldn’t you !?!!!
Your comment is cringe.
Mont is a brilliant guy and so nice and quiet off stage

No need for piano
What are you talking about? At least half of these songs have always had piano in them.
Nasty!!!!!!❤❤❤
Annoying that those broadcast stations still can't do a proper mix. Its not Hansi Hinterseer, so why th efuck do they mix it like it was?
