Hey cheers mate actual verbal communication is not really my strong point so good job I have a few pix for do the grunt work. Thanks for taking a look mate
Cheers Matt, yeah mate I reckon I've found my fave camera of all time, it feels good, it produces cracking images and most of all I get a buzz using it. Thanks for having a butchers mate hope winters treating ya well, have a cracking '24 mate.
@@paultaylorphotography9499 had a few rough days over the last week or so. Two storms back to back but we’ve missed the worst of it buddy. A fair few had it a lot worse than us. Does look like the cameras well suited to your style mate though, keep enjoying it.
I love your enthusiasm and approach in this video. If you ever have opportunity to upgrade to a Q3, the excitement just keeps increasing. I love my Q series camera.
Cheers mate appreciate the feedback. The flip screen on the Q3 would be nice for sure but I think if I were to dive in for another Leica it would have to be a Q mono version I love black and white and the colour conversion I do is good to my eyes but the thought of shooting a dedicated mono is appealing haha the gas is far greater than my wallet allows though. Thanks for taking a look mate
So many great photos here, showing how good the Q series is in the hands of a great photographer. Nice real world review. I love my Q-P. Considering a Q2, mainly for the weather sealing.
Cheers Craig appreciate it mate, the weather sealing is a huge confidence booster, I don't go stupid (lazers aside) with it but I don't go too over the top protective with it either. Thanks for watching at the comment cheers much appreciated mate.
I’m two years in on a Q2 through work, and in a couple of years, I will likely purchase a used one for myself…unless the Q3 prices come down. Q3 has nice features, but gives up some simplicity of the Q2, which I love.
spot on mate it's the simplicity of this camera that is the key it doesn't over complicate things, you concentrate on the shot rather that searching for settings. Thanks for watching mate good luck with that camera.
Hey cheers mate appreciate I shoot in raw the camera lens does the work this is always my post workflow I edit in Lightroom classic I do a an auto levels then raise shadows drop highlights add a touch of clarity and dehaze only a slight tough though then I go to curve adjustment at the bottom is a drop box I add high contrast then go down to the post crop vignette slider and darken the edges a wee bit if the photo is really noisey ie shot at high iso I’ll add some de noise that’s it mate I prefer to be out shooting rather than pixel peeping and spending hours editing hope that helps mate thanks so much for watching and commenting 📷📷
Hey mate just basic editing, I drop highlights, lift shadows, add a tough of dehaze and clarity and a wee vignette. I have been using the masks in Lightroom classic of late, I select the subject just to add a touch of extra exposure to make the subject pop a bit. Thanks for taking a look. Enjoy your Q2, amazing camera.
Hey cheers mate, agreed dehaze is awesome, just have to be a bit careful with it if over done it causes weird colour shifts. Appreciate you have a look mate thanks. @@CrueLoaf
Great photos Paul. I bought my Q2 after a friend lent me his Q for a few weeks and I fell in love. It's ridiculously expensive, but because it is so small and powerful, I bring it everywhere so I have so many more photos than I would with my old DSLR (Canon 5D). Laser damage? That is a first. Good to know, never even occurred to me that it could be a problem. I cannot imagine how I would feel if that happened to me after just purchasing it. For noise, Lightroom denoise fixes any noise very effectively.
Thanks mate, yeah I love the Q system I just spent two days solid walking a total of 35km shooting a street festival in Wellington NZ massive crowds, the Q2 was awesome never flinched, I also used the X-Pro2 for some IR street stuff, on the camera it looks good. I've just driven back to base and my legs and hips are shot. A steady day of editing tomorrow. LRC noise reduction is so good these days, and yeah the laser issue happened to a friend with her Fuji at the same event the following year......lasers very dodgy. Thanks for watching.
@@paultaylorphotography9499 I almost got an X-Pro2 years ago but ended up getting an X100F which I have not touched since getting my Leica Q2. Might have to blow the dust off it and take it for a walk.
The X100 series I've used Marion models, the F being the last for me, I loved them all, but the Q series is on a totally different level. The X-pro2 is fantastic, not great on long exposures from my experience but in general situations faultless, but mine has been sidelined since getting. the Q, until recently haha, now it's a dedicated IR shooter and comes out to play regularly. Definitely dust off your F lovely cameras.@@StreetPhotographyChina
haha, mate I love the X100 series, I still have the X100, I had the T and the F, cracking line of cameras, but the Q is just Incredible. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment cheers
The best review of a camera and lens, honest and authentic, superb pictures, I own the Fujix100v, love it to bits, I am now convinced about the Q series, just which one👏👏👏
Thanks so much mate I really appreciate the comments. the Fujis are awesome I still have the X100, and the X-Pro2 (that's away for an IR sensor conversion, can't wait) anyway yeah Fujis are amazing until you try the Q series, totally different cameras the Leica instantly feel next level, it's a premium piece of kit. Whichever model you go with you'll love it. With the Q just be careful in heavy rain, and tape up the mic ports, they let dust get to the sensor. I not had that issue with the Q2 but I did tape the mic ports anyway just in case. I can't comment to much on the Q3 but like I said in the vid, flip screen would be nice, extra MP I don't need, so the Q2 will stay with me I can't praise it enough. Good luck with your choice John, you can't loose whichever way ya go. @@johnkelly-pd3vq
If that’s the camera you used for your light painting pictures recently Paul…which I think it was? It’s your goat!!! Thanks for your user review - it’s valued! 😎✌️👍
Tip - if you have a spare battery you keep in your pocket just in case, make sure you keep it fully charged. All batteries gradually go flat over time.
Hey cheers mate nothing special I literally do an auto convert to Black n White, I open shadows, drop highights, add a touch of clarity and dehaze and a slight vignette, occasionally I'll do a subject mask to increase exposure on the subject a tad just to make them pop a bit and thats it. So impressed you're impressed cheers mate
Hello Paul thx for the review. However I'm surprised to hear nothing about the focus / autofocus… 😳 Asking cause I was using canon's cameras and went to sony's which are exceptional concerning the autofocus…
Hey mate yeah sorry total oversight, then again it must be good if I hadn't noticed a problem. For my landscape stuff no issue at all, for street and doco stuff again no issues at all I find the AF is sound for what I shoot, if the AF is struggling ie low light I'll slip it into MF the focus peaking works a treat. My mate shoots sony the AF is state of the art, he shoots sport swears by it. I guess it depends on your needs, for me the AF is good enough for most situations. Thanks for taking a look, thanks for highlighting the obvious omission.
@@paultaylorphotography9499 Thanks for the reply. Yes I've been quite impressed by the Sony Alpha 7 IV's autofocus which sticks to the subject's face… That's why I was wondering about the Leica. Thx again. All the best ✨
All good mate. At work we use the Canon !dx system, cracking auto focus, but compared to the Sonys they are slow like I say my mate never misses a shot. For me personally the Q2 works well honestly I haven't missed a shot unless I fluffed the settings. Zone focus for street doco work is easy to use and works well, I will say it's easy accidentally to move the aperture ring when zone focussing, so I put a strip of gaffer take on the lens to lock the settings in place, but for most situations the AF is sound. Thing is for me the Q2 feels good to shoot it's totally over hyped bullcrap but it makes me want to take photos, christ feel sick typing that but it 's true haha Hope that helps a bit. @@betterburnout
Hi - as a Q2 user for a few years now I can confirm the AF is sound .. and MF is excellent when you need it. The camera is quick and silent at focusing. If you can rent or borrow one I would recommend giving it a try. Accuracy is top notch too. As a side note I do not tend to use a camera strap - just a wrist strap which is great and Leica make a Q2 holster which is expensive(of course) but really useful to slot the camera into securely and then it is easier to hold onto the rampaging grandkids :-)
haha I swear I've shot so many laser shows in my career never had an issue ever, until that one, direct hit funnily enough same event a year later I kept the camera away from lasers but a fellow shooter fried her sensor same thing. Be careful out there haha.
