Tom Clancy‘s book without remorse was published August 1 of 1994. John was a former navy seal and Vietnam vet who was working as an underwater demo contractor when his pregnant wife died in a car crash. He went into heavy depression became reclusive and drank heavily. A year or so later he picked up this girl hitchhiking and theybended up getting together and she brought him out of it. Turns out she had been a victim of human trafficking and sex slavery and she had escaped when he found her and the organization that trafficked her tracked her down and shot up their car killing her and putting him in thr hospital. The police didn't do shit so he went on the rampage to avenge her and free the other girls.

Anyone ever play Rainbow Six and it's sequel Rogue Spear? Clark is head of the unit administratively and operationally it's led by Domingo "Ding" Chavez. Who is the young sniper from Clear and Present Danger portrayed by actor Raymond Cruz. The story of the game is very clear on who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. But this unit is a multinational special operations unit and when I say multinational I don't mean NATO. There are a few Russians and one member is most likely a former hit man for Colombian cartels. Or a CIA operative. Possibly both or neither. Maybe just a wannabe adventure seeker with some skills and ambition. What's not ever addressed or even hinted at is the unit itself being a really awful idea and it appears to be under UN control. I can't help but to think Tom Clancy did this intentionally and it wasn't until I was older that I became more aware of the concept of Rainbow Six itself instead of focusing on playing a really awesome tactical shooter on PC. I think Tom Clancy wants to put forth that nobody is ever the villain in their story. Maybe thats too much reality when you're wanting to see a movie so I totally get your longing for the clear cut POS bad guy who is loud and proud about it. Tony Montana even spells it out in the middle of a fancy restaurant over an argument with his wife about her drug use and his desire to father a child. So it doesn't have to be corny to be blatant.

32:00 So one problem that i have with this scene, coming from a Corrections Officer with CERT experience, is that the tactics are all wrong. If we were going to do a cell extraction on someone whos as big and dangerous as that, as soon as the cell door opened we'd be deploying less lethals, either Tazers or gas him with OC. Then go and grab him once he gives up. There's virtually no reason why he needs to come out of that cell at that exact moment, if he wants to turn up then we just gas the cell with OC, close the door and let him cook until he has no more fight. Then you run in and chain him up. Also 100% we woulve shut the water to cell off beforehand.

Others have pointed out that the 1993 original publish date for Without Remorse by the incomparable Tom Clancy would mean Terminal List is far more likely to be following on the coat tails, this show is only proximally Without Remorse. The largest reason being that the character in Without Remorse serves at the tail end of Vietnam and becomes the basis for Tier 1 elements in universe through the 80, 90's and 2000s. That said the refrigerator spouse is a long standing narrative device where the spouse/partner is killed as the inciting incident of the entire plot.

Sean nails it in this. He’s a soldier turned cop I was a cop turned soldier after 9/11. After I deployed I had occasion to work with vets at night responding to scenes. Beat officers respond to scenes in “onseys and twosies” from disparate high random azimuths and time frames and some are vets and some are SWAT and some are cops and some have spent $ on private sector training. Few have worked together in MOUT are CQB and zero significantly so. You can’t hold a police response (let alone a multi agency one) to the same standard as guys who’ve worked together for a month let alone years. We don’t even really have a common language. Everyone has to be “semper Gumby” and super forgiving which by nature we’re not. That’s a while other culture convo. Re the talk about lights (around the 20 min mark) - the old-school Police method of holding a long, heavy multi-cell light up by your shoulder, with your arm bent and gripping very close to the lens-head. This has two advantages: 1) you can illuminate something without aiming your gun at it e.g. a confirmed innocent while you speak to them. 2) you can immediately flick your arm out and strike with the non-lens end, like a very heavy baton.
The disadvantages are: 1) you have no brace/support for your pistol hand. 2) one of your hands is completely occupied and way away from your core - you can't use it for defence, or for simple interactions like operating door handles.
Also, tactics schools stopped teaching that you should hold your light away from you for the simple reason that basically, given the average skill level of shooters (trained and untrained) under pressure, any shot aimed at the light source is likely to be within a margin of error that includes the holder i.e. if they could miss the light by a foot in ANY direction, unless you could hold your light two feet away from your head/torso, they might hit you by pure chance anyway. Better to be much more stable and braced, wih control over the light.

The white light info is interesting from you guys. I have used the Harries technique many times and it is surprisingly stable. And while I like my weapon light it seems like the Harries should be taught as a back up. I have had negative experiences with compensators on pistols in low light as it shoots flame out of the top of the gun like a dragon. Maybe it is just the low quality ammo or compensator type that causes this. Keep up the good work I love the videos.

The lighting technique... the back of the hands together, thats the Harris technique (we remembered cause like a Harrier airplane), the one where you hold it in your hand and gun together i dont remember either.
The other one thou, where the light is in one hand and you extent it far from your body, thats the FBI modified technique, it is actually really useful cause like you said people are gonna shoot toward the light.

Great video, though a couple of notes to clear things up:
First: Without Remorse is based off a book from '93. Difference in the details for just how things went down in the intro, but what the movie is based on definitely predates Terminal List (which the novel came out in 2018, since the question of when that came out for it was raised).
Second: Nobody is also the same writer, and one producer was also a director on John Wick. Fun fact on that one, the writer has stated there's potential for a crossover, at least as nods and easter eggs.
Definitely an interesting video though, and I'm enjoying coming through and watching your reactions :)

I read the book while I was in the Navy and fucking loved it. It was a page-turner pretty much from the get-go so I wanted to love the movie. I don't know what the hell happened or who was making the decisions but pretty much the only things this movie had in common with the book are the title and the name of the main character; that's about it. As it stands, the movie is okay. Michael B. Jordan turned in a good performance and there were some genuinely cool scenes, but the book is just so much better that's it's practically an insult that the two share the same title.

This idea dates back to the 90's. In the books drug dealers kill John Clark's girlfriend who used to be a prostitute for the gang. Clark was a former seal and CIA asset. John Clark eventually wages a war against the gang and takes them out single handedly. In the end Jack Ryan's dad (a baltimore cop) figures out hwo he is so he has to fake his own death. They should have stuck to the original story and made it a cartel. They completely ruined Clancy's story.
