Crazy thing about Roy Benavidez was that he actually stepped on a landmine in his first tour, was told he would never be able to walk again, and walked out of the hospital a year later. Then he signed up for SF. What a legend.
During his later MOH actions he even loaded up two dead NVA onto the second helicopter in hopes of gaining intel with holes throughout his body 😳 The stud jumped into an ambush to help save his friends with only an IFAK and a knife! Beyond Legend status for sure!
MSG Benavidez is a certifiable American badass hero! If a movie was made about his life, people wouldn’t believe it…
The book to read is "Legend" by Eric Blehm.
@@MikeDodds They had a GI Joe but a movie would be awesome his story is amazing
Here is his speech. ruclips.net/video/_oUtJxE4sjs/видео.html
If ironman was black who would play him? Robert Downey Jr.
Terry Crews
He,s just a Dude playing a Dude disguised as another Dude
Jamie foxx
@@Remember.The.Creek24 lol ya!!
RDJ should have played T'Challa for the second Black Panther movie.
Them laughing at simple jack at me dying 😂
You...you...you ma-ma-ma-make me haappy.
The entire look of the character played by Tom Cruise was put together by Cruise. When Cruise pitched the look to Stiller he didn't get it at first. After Cruise was in full dress and danced Stiller said "ok now I get it". Tropic Thunder is absolutely in my top 7 movies of all time.
Those giant hands though 🤣
It was honestly Cruise's best role in his career lmao...and dude killed it in Collateral. Dude should have stuck to playing bad guys tbh
DVD said it almost got a spin off.
That would have been truly culture changing LOL
The first scene you showed is a very direct spoof of the death of Sgt. Elias, Willem Dafoe's character in Platoon. Fun fact, if you look closely, Dafoe's holding the detonator in his hand, he set off the squibs himself.
In the top five of war movies ever made…..
I never noticed that before
They didn’t use squib shit in the final cut
What about at the end when the bridge blows. bridge of the river kwai
The opening scene is making fun of Platoon
Robert Downey Jr. even got a nomination from the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor! Just getting a nomination for a comedy like this is extremely rare and shows what a brilliant comedic performance it was...
I'm a lead farmer, muthafcuker...
Aussie here and loved his performance. BUT.... the accent isn't quite there. Granted for a yank he got very close. 2nd BUT.... he SWEARS like an Australian and freaks out like us.
Just had to throw in a few C words lol
Hes the dude playin a dude disguised as another dude!
Naturally, the Oscars was too chicken to show any acting clips that year. . .
"I'm a dude playin a dude disguised as another dude"
"What do you mean, You people"
"What do YOU mean, YOU people?!?!"😭🤣
@@Nick-qf5zl 🤣
Jack "Mad Jack" Churchill was a British soldier who went through WWII with only a longbow and a Scottish Broadsword.
Was in Basic training and someone yelled “cover me you limp d*ck f*ckups!” During a simulation. Dude was from a Louisiana swamp so hearing it in his accent made it priceless.
Tropic Thunder was epic. I didn't realize that was Tom Cruise until the ending credits. Also, the baby stabbing Ben Stiller on the bridge was hilarious. Also, love your guys Generational Kill breakdown.
Same here! Didn't realize Cruz was in it until the end. Great film.
This movie is an instant classic 😁
I don’t think he was credited originally? I didn’t realize that was him til somebody told me two weeks later!
Sean and Kurt laughing uncontrollably for a minute at about 11:06 was just about as unwholesomely wholesome as it gets. Love you guys.
Ben did a good job with the Platoon part
Surprised more folks didn't catch that it was a Platoon spoof.
@@armynurseboy Probably too young
@@jasonbrown5014 Even Buck was too young...
Tropic Thunder really is one of the funniest movies ever made. And the ending with Cruise's dance is just perfect.
When I first watched this movie, I legit thought they replaced Robert Downey Jr to make the joke that the actor was so engrossed in becoming the character. I actually thought it was a different actor until the second time I watched the movie, and it was late into the second time when it clicked and I was like “OHHHHHHHHH HOOOOLYYYY SHIT!” 😂 almost the same with Tom Cruise. My dad and I watched it in theaters and when he’s dancing at the end I was like, holy shit dad that’s Tom Cruise and he didn’t believe me until the credits proved it. Such an amazing movie
Tom Cruise WANTED to be Lex, he created the character description in his head and told Ben Stiller he wanted to play him just like that.
“I want fat hands, and I want to dance”
Best line in combat history was when Jamey Caldwell, a CAG guy, rescued that Italian hostage and used the line “we’re navy seals and we’re here to get you out”. Check out the bodycam footage. 😂😂
You got a search term for the video?
@@CarlosVixil I wanna say something like Italian hostage rescue, Iraq.
Your story around 31:00 about working with newly graduated Privates after coming home was amazing!
It was hilarious in the way you told it, but also interesting to hear your point of view & thought process.
I think you were 100% justified in lighting them up, but I may have also felt guilty afterward.
Roy literally says he was holding his intestines in at a point in his insane ordeal that day. He is the most badass soldier EVER!
Y’all need to watch the commentary because RDJ STAYED in character just like he said he does lol
Good stuff, guys. Stiller's weapon appeared to be a CAR-15 submachine gun, or is replicating one, that dates back to about 1960 and was used in RVN; often with LRRPs. Based on the M-16, it originally was for armor guys (tankers) as a space-saver yet had lots of firepower to replace the old WWII-era .45 caliber M3 (usually call a Grease Gun because of its' appearance). It had an collapsible/extendible buttstock and with it closed the total length was under 30".
Kurt not knowing about the XM177 variants/CAR-15 crushed my soul a little bit 🤦♂️ Hell it was the preferred weapon of all special forces as soon as they could get them... LRRPs, MACVSOG, ODA's all had access to them by some point... Even certain big army soldiers had them towards the later years... Come on Kurt! Your supposed to be the educated aficionado, not the transformers marvel CGI explosion loving Buck! 😂
Figured someone else talk about it and same them not knowing about the CAR-15 brought a tear. lol.
The Tom Berenger character in " Platoon " carried a CAR - 15.
I like that the director stepped on a landmine and it blew up, not that Hollwood BS of needing to "Step Off" of it.
SAPPER
There are pressure release fuses. They aren't used when setting up typical minefields (they'd explode due to shifting pressure from freezing/thawing in the winter) rather to set up boobytraps. They do however do what movies show, explode when the pressure comes off.
They can be put under ammo crates or gas cans or, best of all another mine. Do that last one and the top mine holds down the trigger device the "normal" mine gets disarmed and moved out of the hole, the pressure comes of and the delayed pressure fusing device sets off its mine, and the one in your hands.
I always thought he just took his foot off when looking down.
This movie came out when I was in Afghanistan. Man, I grabbed a copy of it at one of the Bazaars in our AO. Best money I ever spent. My boys and I laughed non-stop at this. Definitely needed.
The first scene they review is from Platoon (1986) with Willem Dafoe and Charlie Sheen
Can't believe they didn't know that.... 🤪
@@johnyd1911 They need to review Platoon
Bingo
There it is!! I love that damn movie, Platoon! "The only thing that can kill Barnes is Barnes!" Me and my old LT used to just rattle off lines from that movie back fourth when we were on route security together. Good times!...not really ha
@@bgarri8001 "We did not fight the enemy, we fought ourselves" Epic movie
If you get a chance, watch the Blu Ray director's cut with the commentary on. Robert Downey Jr is full-on in character the whole time.
He don't drop character till the end credits
One of the biggest thing I miss about being in the military is having friends like you guys to talk about a movie
Ben Stiller's gun was supposed to be an xm177e1 or e2. A short run SF weapon in VN but I seem to remember them using a front assembly that was too modern.
Can you imagine if they released a bloopers reel from this.
So glad you guys watched this! I remember watching this on deployment and quoting it for 11 months straight. Would love for you guys to watch Clear and Present Danger sometime!
Clear and present danger is such an under rated film!
Harrison Ford will always be the real Jack Ryan to me.
"Everyone knows you never go full r*tard!"
I grew up on Clear And Present Danger, Air Force One and Indiana Jones VHS tape LOL.
"SIR! THE LUITENANT GOT CLOSE BY BEING A SNEAKY BASTARD! SEARGENT MAJOR!"
"do you know the fine for littering in the state of California son?"
"(chuckles) YES SIR!"
lol
I'm a lead farmer MF! Haha so many times I would say that shit at my unit when shooting blanks
Outstanding movie, especially 1st half-- when Ben Stiller grabs the decapitated Director's head and starts drinking his "fake" blood, never gets old watching that scene, and so many others...
"Oi, I'm Dave Beckham!" *kicks head*
That dramatic scene of him being shot referenced Willem Dafoe's character in Platoon. Ya'll gotta watch that movie now' lol. I was dying when you said Bruce Willis 😆
"we cant comment" "please be careful" all while absolutely losing it laughing. Fucking love it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It wasn't Tears of the Sun. It was Platoon. Willem Defoe's character. Which is an interesting scene regarding the blood special effects. If memory serves, the cut they used wasn't synchronized correctly. He did all the movements but the squibs didn't fire.
I think Platoon should be the next movie up for Beers and Breakdowns.
He was talking about the music in the background not the scene itself
Every now and then when I'm depressed I come back to this reaction😂😂 The simple Jack scene was hilarious " I don't want to say anything we're going to get in trouble we got a tiptoe around this"
If I would have seen a Brigadere General as a pvt two weeks out of boot...I'd have jumped through the ceiling coming to attention. Colonel and above were mythical creatures ya just never saw, but knew they existed. So when you did see them, you couldn't help but give the utmost respect.
This film will go down as a milestone and a classic. Maybe someday we can make movies like this again. Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise had the best roles imo.
I thought the scene of Ben Stiller getting shot while looking up at the rescue copter was more reminiscent of the scene from Platoon when the same was happening to Wilem Dafoe
Yes that is exactly what it was referencing. Sometimes beer has a way of changing little details like that LOL.
They could never make this movie in todays climate. We must be thankful for these gems :)
my favorite thing about this series is how you can tell they filmed them on the same day/weekend...you can see them get progessively drunker and drunker through all the episodes lol
lol you’re 100% correct, we filmed the last 4 episodes in one night.
@@AbelHernandezguitar you boys about to get a little wild for the next b&b, I ensured that 🤣
This movie came out right after I finished Basic and it was family day. So we went to see this. I will never forget how much I laughed when my mom thought the fake trailers at the beginning were real! I loved this movie so much, it's a Stiller classic
Gotta correct Kurt the SF and MACV-SOG guys did have telescoping stocks on the XM177 commando carbines
They did, but the CAR-15 stock has a different shape then the modern M4 stock
@@MrSpudz2 but it has the correct stock…
Absolutely 100% Roy Benavidez was an American badass of epic proportions! His story you couldn't make it up if you tried. Unbelievable! RIP badass!
We need to start a petition to make a sequel: Desert Thunder. Same premise but about the GWOT instead of Vietnam.
No
another lesser-known excellent Downy Jr comedy: “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” it’s frickin hilarious
Fun Fact the "prototype" of the M4 the XM177/CAR-15 Commando did have a collapsible buttstock and was used by the special forces in Vietnam.
I really like the XM177's flash hider it just looks nice to me. It doubled as an adapter for firing rifle grenades usually a HEAT grenade or a HE Composite B grenade was later replaced by the M72 LAW, M79 grenade launcher, and MX148 under barrel grenade launcher.
Tropic Thunder!?!? I'm here for it! 🇺🇲🤘🏼
Abel: Please be careful!
Me: 😂🤣😂🤣😂
I'm in my late fifties. I recognized immediately the words spoken by Robert Downey Jr's character that were the words from the song, "Movin' On Up", the theme song to the 1970s hit television comedy show, "The Jefferson's".
Kurt not knowing about the XM177's or CAR-15s used extensively by SF during Vietnam (and later by select big army soldiers) killed my soul a little... 😥😄
Yeah I felt the same. But when I first watched Tropic thunder years ago I thought the same thing until I looked into the rifle variants and learned about the XM177s and CAR-15s. This movie actually improved my understanding of history in a round about way LOL.
This is one of the most hilarious quoted movies. also, showing my age but please do "Spies Like US".
This is now one of my favorite Beers and Breakdowns! I was dying laughing because you guys were laughing so hard.
Tropic Thunder is our modern day Blazing Saddles. Fight me or change my mind
Before I even watch this… I have to say that one night I was hanging out with a bunch of retired SEALs, and the endgame of our night was to watch this movie while high as fuck. Let me just say it did not disappoint
The quotability of this movie deserves an award in and of itself
I love the, "Survive!", It kills me every time.
Cool story about the guard in processing incident. Can't let disrespect go unanswered in any military unit. Thanks for having integrity when no one else did.
2:40 Dude. It's from the end of Platoon, Brother
If you watch the commentary version, Robert does the whole thing in the Lincoln Osiris voice like he said during the movie lol
When I’m down, feeling depressed, this is my go to movie, my FAVORITE movie of all time hands down! The entire movie is comedy gold! I can’t stand Tom Cruise but even he had me dying of laughter. Jack Black and RDJ are my favorites in this of course.
Was wondering if you guys where going to be reviewing this masterpiece of a film? I remember being in the theater when it released. Everyone in my theater was laughing hysterically. Lol
What's sad..if this movie came out today people would be screaming and freaking out...once 2012 hit everyone turned into a bunch of crybabies..maybe 2012 was the real end date.. people have turned into little babies who can't take any type of criticism
LOL 🤣 love when he pulls off that shot behind his back! 🕶️
Love that these guys can have fun with a spoof.
Booty sweat au natural. 😂😂
And tom cruise CRUSHED his cameo
I went full Tom Cruise ham on an LT as a 1SG after his Bradley shot the wrong target with their TOW at NTC, and he apologized to me. Awesome.
Thank you guys so much!! I've been requesting We Were Soldiers and Troppic Thunder since you guys started these
*I was late to this movie in cinemas and didn’t know it was Robert Downey Jr.* When he took off the wig I thought it was Paul Walkers brother or something. I still had no clue. I died laughing.
This is one that could never been made post 2020. An absolute masterpiece 😂
The booty sweat had me dying🤣
You guys are fuckin awesome! I’ve waited for quite a while for this review😂 was actually talking to a buddy about it like a week ago and I almost suggested it on a different video😂🤘🏼
When they show his hands or lack of...and I'll be tickling the ivories was hilarious
Thank you for using the term MOH "Recipient". Too many people use the term "won" and it gets under my skin. I learned my lesson early on when I met John "Bud" Hawk, a WWII U.S. Army MOH recipient. I used the term "won" and was raked across the coals by Bud. I have never used that term since. He told me it wasn't a contest, so he didn't "win" anything.
Denzel Washington: you don't win it you receive it.
Bronson Pinchot: tell that to Congress. From the motion picture courage under fire. Congress also calls it the "congressional" medal of Honor
This is the goldiest of gold content 🥇! Between the reviews and the stories, just epic sirs!
The Lead Farmer was and is epic. Love the vídeo.
The "Could you find out who that was" was HILARIOUS. He had no idea who he was talking to and he didn't give a singular fuck 😂
I love you guys man. Just stumbled across the channel and Man yall did it. Bless yall, cheers brothers🙏
Absolutely RD Jr's best film and he should've won the academy award & golden globe for best comedic performance EVER!. Great movie that makes me laugh everytime I see it.
So Robert Downey Jr. is an American Actor playing an Australian Actor playing a Black Guy who disguised as Vietnamese Farmer 😅 Legendary Performance! 🙌🙌🙌
Best episode of beers and breakdowns!! Thanks guys.😊
21:12 ...said the pot about the kettle...lol
Awesome awesome video bro! Laughed so hard. This will be in my top 3 favorites. Yall should beers and breakdown the A-Team
OMG I've been waiting for this episode since you started doing Beers and Breakdowns!
They’re mocking Platoon in that scene not Tears of the Sun
Brilliant episode had tears running down my face 🤣🤣👍
I laughed all over again with y'all on this one. Love.
The weapons in the movie are generally period correct. Collapsible stocks were used on the XM177 carbine, a shorter version of the M16. Later 700 series rifles were based on these earlier versions.
Absolutely brilliant beers and breakdown.
I sort of interview with Ben still at once where he said he had the concept of this movie written for about 10 years and because of the success of night at the museum the movie studio let him make whatever movie he wanted so he made this one....
It would be great to see what you guys make of The Way of the Gun, so underrated and brought action movies kicking and screaming into the modern world. 'Moving!'
I haven't seen it in forever, but yes, it's super underrated!
Yeah, but it's not really a military movie per se. Parker and Longbaugh were tactically very sophisticated for a pair of criminal lowlifes. If they'd just established some back story...
YES!!! Finally!!! Thank you guys!
jesus christ i had never laughed soo much watching your episodes before. definitely watching this movie again tonight.
I usually get a couple of laughs out of these, but this one was entirely hilarious. Great pick!
Finally! This was great!
Stolen valor happened in my last unit in the 82nd Airborne Division. We had a 1st sgt that said that he was a Sapper and wore the tab. Yes he went to that school and graduated but didn't have enough points for the tab. So he went to the px and just bought the tab. He did the samething for Jumpmaster School.
Awesome breakdown of an awesome movie. Thanks boys!
Bro the fucking dvd commentary is fucking hilarious. RDJ stays in fucking character the entire fucking time. Been waiting for y’all to review tropic thunder
So glad you did this , I just watched it again a few days ago
"we should be careful with this one" lol
21:55 the SOG units in Vietnam had the xm177 which in fact had a collapsible buttstock.
The best scene is when Tom cruise talks to flaming dragon.
Tom specifically asked for fat hands, otherwise he wouldn't do it.
I would like to get your take on Soviet era film Come and See.The Director based the script on himself in 1943-44 and his local experiences.Your views would be sort of from the other side of the fence.Good job on this one guys.
The more you know. The reference to the old GI Joe Saturday cartoon. (Now you know) & (Knowing’s half the battle)!
Yall laughing made me laugh even harder!!
The scene IS from the movie platoon ... When Officer Elias had been shot down by hes enemy Officer Barnes (in the Jungle) who claimed he was DEAD and Privat Charlie Sheen Saw him trying to escape from the VC's ..... While flying away in helicopters .... to me an EPIC scene from the movie Platoon ! :P (Ben Stiller's end pose stems from a REAL Photo of an American soldiers in the Vietnam War when seeing the choppers is coming for the rescue NOTHING fun in that ?) Willem Dafoe Does the same "pose" in the movie Platoon AND YES that pose stems from a soldier in the Vietnam war seing the Friendly Choppers.... Dont know if the guy you mention is the guy famous for that specific Vietnam / Chopper picture !
Y'all need to watch the extras. Especially the RDJ parts as sgt. Lincoln Osiris
