    Stallone had one of the best answers to a question leading up to the premiere of this movie. I don't remember what he was accused of they were talking about the movie being so violent and did not promoting any sort of peace and his response was war is natural peace is an accident.

    • @timgimmy609
      @timgimmy609 Год назад +2

      I guess violence is more “natural” than peace is, it’s a part of life clearly, but war is mostly a human thing. Not many other animals have large scale conflict in that kind of way. Animals coexist in mutually beneficial relationships all the time though.
      It’s not like this movie is depicting war in an accurate way or exploring the psychology like First Blood, it’s just an excuse to be as sadistic and violent as possible.

    I want to acknowledge your accuracy on the statement about the Barrett. I carried an M82A1 and that was for the purpose of punching holes through engine blocks (as Buck Rogers points out). It came in very handy during a very sideways mission, but humping that platform even in 2 pieces was terrible especially considering ammo weight. I hated the concussion report because it'd kick up dirt and almost always give away your position on a cold bore shot

  • @darwinjohnson5133
    @darwinjohnson5133 2 года назад +3

    Sean,
    The claymore is capable of being detonated with a non-electric blasting cap/time fuse system which can be initiated with an M81 Fuse Ignitor or a tripwire/initiator system. Our combat SOP on our ODA (1stSFG) during the 90's was to carry a Claymore in the top flap of your rucksack with a 30-second time fuse/non-electric system so that it could be pulled out for pursuit deterrent or for destroying your ruck if you had to ditch it.
    The claymore could also be prepped to initiate using detcord which allowed you to daisy-chain multiple claymores together and fire them from a single initiator.
    Modern claymores also have shock-tube initiation systems.

    There are 3 ways to set off a claymore that I know of. Command detonated - the clacker, Tripwire - set up as a booby trap, and I have never seen it but I was told you can use a timer.

    so for the claymore questions, MACV-SOG in wietnam found out ways of making timed fuses connected to the blasting caps for when they where breaking contact from the enemy

    I remember hunting when I was a young teen, and I'd never shot or been around someone shooting a 7mm mag before. And damn, I remember it feeling like the air got completely sucked out of the area standing behind that thing being shot, let alone when I did actually shoot it, and that was with a muzzle break. Still left a bruise the size of my shoulder on my 13 year old self.
    Can't imagine what a Barrett .50 would be like concussion wise though.

    There are both wireless motion sensor det and cable/trip/pull type det for claymores out there. The US just doesn't use them (at least openly) because as you pointed out, GC.

    Around 20 years ago like back in the days of Ebaum's world, I saw a video that was called something like Taliban gets lit up by 50 cal. That footage scarred me for life. It was a guy running into the street to line up his RPG. While there was a lot less blood than I would have imagined, the guy was literally torn to shreds. It was actually kinda like this movie.

    I worked on Expendables. Stallone is so jacked that almost every day that he drove his Saleen Mustang to set, he’d inevitably race someone on the way to work, shift gears in Rambo mode and immediately rip the shifter out of the console. That car landed on set on the back of a flatbed more than it did on its own wheels under its own power. Teamsters had a tent set up just to fix his ride when he got there.

    Loved this movie ( for what it was) Would of been tough to pull off a 80s Rambo today. Rambo saving the day was glorious to watch again. And him going home to the horse ranch was great. Should’ve stopped there.

    This is fresh hearing an SF guy that first played call of duty before he joined the military.comparing between a video game and reality. This is telling me I am getting old!

    In reference to your comments about hating the Barrett because it's so heavy was funny. I had a similar experience with the desert eagle 50 cal handgun. I had seen them in several movies when I was younger. Then I say Danny glover with one in predator 2 and swore I would buy one if I ever had the $$. A few years ago I was in a pawn shop in Georgia. I saw one for sale, so I immediately asked to see it. I had never seen one in real life, and I was determined to walk out of there with it...until he handed it to me. That thing was like trying to lift a damn dinosaur leg or something! I had never considered it being that heavy. I have a colt 357 magnum with a 6 in. Barrel that's heavy enough, but compared to the desert eagle, my 357 feels like a bb pistol. I couldn't imagine carrying that desert eagle around, especially when you add the weight of ammo and extra loaded magazines, so I didn't buy it.
    Maybe I should have just for the novelty but that's a big price tag for something I would probably never actually use. My 357 is enough for me I guess. I never go in the woods without it

    Don’t deny it.
