That Machine Gun Rambo was using in the final battle shoots 50 Caliber rounds that are supposed to be used against armored vehicles so shooting a human with that round is going to blow them to pieces which is actually realistic

The browning 50cal has a fire rate of 575 rounds per min so 1 sec burst is 9rounds per second and if you use APEI rounds its even worse ( armor piercing explosive incendiary ) Garand Thumb did a vid like 11months ago showing what just 1 of them rounds dose to a human and its devastating

Trivia, Sylvester Stallone stated that the shredding of that driver with the 50 caliber is a 100% accurate depiction of what that weapon would do to a person at that range.
@John Williamson - almost anybody who was in the active military could tell you that, and there is nothing surprising about it at all. Some civilians may be surprised about it, but beyond that? Nothing surprising about it, as at this caliber you are pretty much going to lose some limb if the bullet is going to hit that part of your body. And yeah, this can also cut you in half, literally. Very brutal, very quick, and there is nothing you can do about it. Edit: formatting and grammar...

I first saw this on the small screen and was surprised by the dismemberment violence. It must have been shocking to see in the cinema, compared to the gore in previous Rambo movies.

Apart from some celebrity from when he shot up a town decades ago, he wasn't famous except to those who knew him, and since getting out of jail, when not being an embarrassment to the government each time they use him, he has lived with monks in Thailand or wrangled snakes in some backwater or other.
As a former abrams tank commander, that footage with the 50 caliber tearing through bodies is pretty close to accurate. I've used it against numerous vehicle during my time in Iraq and it left holes the size of grapefruit even in the engine block, you can only imagine what it would do to a body. The only thing I find unrealistic is that it never jammed once while firing with trigger down (its a movie of course) the 50 cal is a notoriously moody weapon at full auto.
I remember asking a friend of mine who'd been in Afghanistan or Iraq, I forget which-just glad he didn't get hurt save for someone backing a truck onto his shoulder, and during the 50 scene I asked, "Is that legit?" He just nodded once.
During the scene with the boat pirates. I love how the subtitles stop at the point where Rambo stops listening to them as he plans which order to shoot them in. Such a cool detail.
I hear ya. Moreover, there's another detail I find cool: Rambo tries his best in this scene to reason with the pirates, even though he knows it'd be pointless. And in this part, he was clearly disappointed and pissed off, with that "just shut the f*ck up before I'm forced to make you" look in his face.

Sylvester Stallone wanted this movie to show the real atrocities that happened in places like Burma and other countries like it. He wanted it to be brutal and not have war glorified. To show just how bad some of these people had it. Hopefully we can all feel more grateful where we live, even if it isn't perfect and there's problems
This movie is a lot more darker and violent than the other films in the series. The film was a box office success, making $113 million dollars against a $50 million dollar budget. When I saw the teaser poster at a movie theater, my jaw dropped and I said, "Dude, he's back!" It was controversial as the film was banned in Burma for it's negative portrayal of the Asian government. They premiered the movie at San Diego Comic Con and the producer told the audience that the Director's Cut will be available in 2009.
The DVD had a mini series where Stallone explains that the movie wasn't even as bad as it really was but he wanted to show as much as he could so people know what was going on there.

The main bad guy was actually a Karen Freedom Fighter who agreed to do the part and sadly his family were taken prisoner by the Burmese government when they found out he was in this movie. This war has been going for over seventy years now.
I remember watching the Dvd feature where Stallone was trying to write a story that was relevant and saw something on the news about Burma and the horrors that were still happening. This movie HAD to be dark and terrible because of the things that are taking place. Interesting fact is that main baddie was played by a former Karen Rebel who risked his life to raise awareness about what's going on.
This Rambo film & First Blood, are my personal 2 favorites of the series!! And that Browning 50 Cal Machine Gun Turret scene.....GET SUM BABY!!!! Seriously Sylvester Stallone said "Might as well be truthful, to show what & how 50 Cal does to a human body at point blank range."
This might sound odd but i would seriously recommend watching the making of documentary for this film, i think it's longer than the movie but it gives so much more context to everything.
This film has the most realistic depiction of combat violence I had ever seen in any film up to this point. It's not like in the old movies, they fall down, a little blood maybe. No high-powered rounds do incredible damage to human bodies. I've seen it.
I love the meme from this movie. They took the shot of Rambo on the 50 cal gun and painted out the gun, so Rambo looks like he is giving an aggressive two thumbs up.

Last blood was a mixed bag, it had 3 different movies in it, they had all they needed to finish the franchise perfectly but they fucked up, not knowing if they want to kill Rambo off or not, if they want to do a Rambo 2-3 style film or Rambo 1 and 4. It was a mess tonally. Few GREAT moments, Sly GREAT as always, but they fucked up.

Rambo Part lll was already considered brutal and then this one pushed it even further. They included that throat rip as a fatality in Mortal Kombat 11 for him (he was a guest character in that game).
I believe the Karen rebels actually used the "Live for nothing or die for something" as their motto. And if you guys are into Mortal Kombat, they got Rambo in 11. Not only did they get Stallone to voice him, they also got that throat rip as a fatality for him.

There's a lot of truth in this film. It was almost rated NC-17. Quentin Tarantino said this was a masterpiece that would have won Oscars if it was made by someone we never heard of. A lot of people don't wanna see Stallone succeed. Stallone said he wanted to make an action film with consequences. In other words instead of the "happy killings" we are used to, this is a film about how we deal with life as much as death. Much of the footage in the beginning is REAL.
Who cares. It's more entertainment...the tunnel scene might be a top Rambo scene. The movie isn't great, but it's your life, if you want 4 to be the 'end' then let it be for you...
despite the over the top gore of this movie, it's probably the most realistic depiction of the violence of war, kinda like what we got with the D-Day intro to Saving Private Ryan.

That Gun that "Skool-Boy" uses is called The Barret M107 SNIPER RIFLE it's the same rifle that the late Chris Kile used during the war in Iraq..... The only gun able to fire a 50 caliber round....

Here we go!!!!! It always felt a bit like "ok, what if we just shoot Rambo 2 again, but dial it up to 200?", but it never bothered me. Its the full embracement of the over the top action - vicious, raw and unapologetic. A lot of people disliked it because of the violence, in my country the uncut version is banned because of it, but I liked it, because it was not littered with one-liners or showed how much fun it is to kill people. You rarely go "yeah, cool!!" in this movie, you are appalled and speechless by the "reality" of war. And it was nice to see how involved Stallone was with everything: actor, writer, director and closely involved with the developement of the soundtrack.
Immediately clicked! My favorite Rambo film and favorite action movie. So brutal and gory, has to be the goriest action movie ever! The last scene especially Once you do Rambo 5 you must do The Expendables series
@@TBRSchmitt Well...y'all have already gotten a taste of Dolph Lundgren with Rocky 4; if you want more with Him, I'd recommend Universal Soldier (with Van Damme) and maybe Masters of the Universe ('87). For Jason Statham...easily go with The Transporter, Crank or Death Race (2008). For Jet Li...try Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 the Grave and (of course) Lethal Weapon 4.
@@TBRSchmitt I would look at the cast list on Imdb. Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren among others. But you have basically seen the major action movies from the main guys, Arnold Sly and Bruce. Thing is the Expendables series keeps adding more action heros to the cast list, Chuck Norris in EX2, Mel Gibson in EX3 for example. But I’d just check Arnold’s and Sly’s IMDB and check for retro action hitters.

Here's something worth knowing. The actor Maung Maung Khin, playing the main villain is a real life resistance fighter in Burma. He was cast because Stallone liked his life story and Khin himself wanted to raise awareness about the Civil war and the government's atrocities. And he did that by playing a composite of some of the most despicable human beings he's encountered in his own life.
The final battle was inspired by Audi Murphy in WW2. “On January 26, 1945, 2nd Lieutenant Audie L. Murphy was commanding company B of the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, near the French village of Holtzwihr when six German tanks and several hundred infantrymen attacked his company. Murphy ordered his men to fall back to defensive positions in nearby woods while he covered their withdrawal and called down artillery to slow the German advance. German fire hit an American tank destroyer nearby and set it on fire. Witnesses later recalled how he “climbed on the burning tank destroyer, which was in danger of blowing up at any moment, and employed its .50 caliber machine gun against the enemy.” From Murphy’s exposed position on top of the burning tank destroyer, he killed over 20 German soldiers and repelled their attack. For more than an hour, Murphy continued to fire the machine gun, despite being wounded in the leg. He then led his company in a counterattack that killed or wounded 50 more German soldiers.” When asked why he did it he replied, “They were killing my friends”
I wish Stallone had stopped the Rambo series with this one. I really liked the symbolism of Rambo returning home, after finally finding a sort of inner peace and acceptance of letting go of the past. First Blood was showing Rambo wandering the country, unwilling to go home. Here he does go home. That's how I would have wrapped up his character.
I thought that this movie and Rocky Balboa were both phenomenal movies that extended and built upon their original stories and demonstrated the character progression really well. Also, it demonstrates Stallone's growth both infront of and behind the camera. You'll really like the Expendables series for the mix of comedy/action and the cast is unbelievable. I think you'll really like Last Blood for a bunch of reasons and I'm really looking forward to it.

Been a Stallone and Rambo fan ever since I was a kid in the 80s. I watched this movie in theaters, opening weekend. I was suffering through some mental health issues at the time and just the adrenaline rush from this movie, especially the final action scene, helped me A LOT! lmao it sounds like a joke: Rambo Cured My Depression! But it KINDA did 🤣
When you guys get to the last one, make sure you watch the extended cut. The thing is that when the movie got released, the audience in the US and UK saw a shortened version for some reason, while the rest of the world saw a longer version in theaters. And when they released the longer version in the US and UK on DVD and Blu-Ray, they called it "the extended cut", while for the rest of the world, it is "the original cut". So the extended cut is the right one for you.
I grew up in Burma during my teenage years. There was a boy my age (13 back then) that lived in my apartment. Every afternoon we would talk to each other from our balconies. One day I noticed that I hadn't seen him for months. It turns out that he was kidnapped by the army on the way back from school and sent to the jungle to be a mine sweeper with other 13 year olds. That's what the army does. They use children and make them march ahead of the army in case there's any mines.
The first scene in movie is from real event in Burma, forcing people to run over mine bomb is also real. violence is still continues today after they removed the democratic government
the quote from the director cut is impactful. when rambo talks about war. That we're like animals! It's in the blood! It's natural! Peace? That's an accident! It's what is! When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing. When the killing stops in one place, it starts in another, but that's okay... 'cause you're killing for your country. But it ain't your country who asks you, it's a few men up top who want it. Old men start it, young men fight it, nobody wins, everybody in the middle dies... and nobody tells the truth!
Was an 0331(Machine gunner) in the Marine Corps and I can attest that the scenes with the Ma Deuce were accurate except for two things. It didn't constantly jam and even rounds as big as .50 won't send someone flying like that. Everything else is realistic though, from tearing limbs off of people to punching fist sized holes in vehicles to ripping people in half. There was only one weapon I handled that was more destructive and that was the Mk 19, which is literally a belt fed 40mm grenade machine gun.
Being from Az "Rambo" is my Arizona hero such a true Bad A$$ I started watching these young because of my dad. I always have a moment when he goes full circle and comes back home after like 30+years.
Rambo: Last Blood had 2 theatrical versions. In Australia we had the longer version that has a 10 minute opening scene. The USA never got this version. It would be to your benefit if you were able to react to the longer version.
A sniper's purpose is almost more psychological than numeric. After someone next to you has their head explode and you don't even know where it came from, it tends to remove your eagerness to move forward. Also, the mercenaries weren't prepared for what they are in for.
Saw this on opening night with a bunch of mates in Sydney. Cinema had about 40-50 people in it - all male, all in clumped groups of 5-10, all around our age (let's just say it's a safe bet we all grew up renting VHS). Shocked exclamations and a few cheers through the film, but once the final set piece kicked in, the room just became a cacophony of howling, hollering, laughing and chaos. Unlike US cinema audiences, Australian theatre experiences for the sot part are not like this at all. Essentially, everyone was just so taken aback by the sheer gratuity of it all that it was really the only way to deal. "Laugh through it now, process it all later", basically.
Another Sylvester Stallone movie you should check out is Lock Up. It wasn't a big hit but I think it's one of his better performances in one of his better movies. It also has Donald Sutherland as the warden.
“Did they not do a Google search?” At that time, getting a phone line, let alone an internet connection was hard to come by in areas such as Burma. Assuming these guys were operating for extended periods in such areas, they probably didn’t even know what a Google search was. As always, I love you guys and your reactions! It’s crazy looking at this movie in juxtaposition with the previous three. The violence depicted is so visceral and realistic but ultimately necessary to show people how brutal and unforgiving this civil war is.
This film ALMOST GOT AN NC17 rating for the children getting killed, but when Stallion told the producers this needed to be shown, they dropped it back to an R Rating.
I highly recommend you watch the director's cut. It extends a few conversations between Rambo and Sarah, giving both characters extra dimension. During the scene where Rambo forges a new knife, we hear the pastor saying a prayer for the missionaries, which I think is just as effective as the "killin's as easy as breathin'" monologue.
What is so great about this film in my poor is... People think just because they are on a "humanitarian" mission in a war zone. ..that the parties involved in the war will respect them. Not the case. Often times these people end up murdered, kidnnaped, and sold into slavery (sex trafficking/labor). When I was in Afghanistan...a doctor that worked for a humanitarian organization was kidnapped . He was being transported to Pakistan where he would most likely have his head removed and filmed. Lucky for him, the group that kidnapped him stopped to stay at a house that we knew about just before the border of pakistan. A rescue mission was out together and the doctor was ssved. However, a navy seal lost his life in that mission. I remember thinking, "we lost a key member of our military fighting force today...In exchange for a civilian doctor. Doesn't seem right or fair. This navy seal post his life to save a foolish man's life". I understand that people want to help others...But the doctor was better off trying to create political pressure to end the war than going into a war zone. Like Rambo said....you ain't changing anything.
The reason why Stallone kept his shirt on the entire film was because he had gotten tattoos. This would have been a continuity error for Rambo, who lived in Thailand for 20 years after the events of Rambo 3, because no one in that country tattoos in that style (to my knowledge) of which Stallone got his.
At 10:34 in this video, part of the flashback actually shows the original ending for the first movie, where Rambo uses Trautman's gun to shoot himself dead. It's a real "blink and you'll miss it" scene.
I like this for how it portrays on realistic effects a weapon has on a human body. The weapon that Schoolboy uses is a .50 Cal anti-material rifle. Its primary purpose is to disable armored vehicles like tanks. It can penetrate the armor of tanks. That weapon that Rambo used towards the end that was on the Jeep is a M2 .50 Cal Browning. That's why it tore through those soldiers like Swiss cheese. You can find images online to see how large the bullets are. The movie wasn't shy on showing the viciousness of the Burmese government towards its own people.
This is my 2nd favorite Rambo movie after the original which will never be topped. I got to see this & the last one at the theaters. If they ever do a special screening of the first 3 I would be there

Definitely a brutal movie. I didn't have a chance to see it in the theater, so I saw it about a year later. It certainly left an impression on me. I prefer the first 3 movies, but it's still good.
I feel the director's cut of this one would have been the better option. The cut dialog rambo has with Sarah in the boat before being convinced to take them was great. Didn't understand why it was removed and it showed that out of everyone in the group she did understand him better.
Critics said this movie oversimplified the Burmese conflict, but it clearly had an impact: getting caught with a bootleg copy of this film was an automatic prison sentence in Burma. Getting caught selling the bootlegs was an automatic death sentence.
I got to see Rambo in the theaters and thought the last battle was awesome with Rambo tearing through all those soldiers, but after me and my friend went home and we had time to let it set in and we were both shaken and had to talk to one another because of how brutal the movie was. Rambo III was in 1988, so 20 years between III and Rambo (IV) TBR.
i remember when this movie released, people from Myanmar felt like somehow they saw the light in the end of the tunnel.... so many emotions, i remember when Rambo killed those Burmese soldiers...everybody in the movie theater..cheered and shouted for Rambo... i remembered some of them were crying with mixed reaction... like they were looking for a hero to save their country....so many memories ... back in 2008 this movie was very very illegal to watch. Now U can get arrested and sent to prision if you watch this movie. Again, the burmese people are still fighting the dictatorship after the coup 2021 on February, now even it more intense than the last 70 years civil war. Now every states of the country (people defence force) are fighting. Everyday is fighting now.

Trivia, Sylvester Stallone stated that the shredding of that driver with the 50 caliber is a 100% accurate depiction of what that weapon would do to a person at that range.

Some civilians may be surprised about it, but beyond that?
Nothing surprising about it, as at this caliber you are pretty much going to lose some limb if the bullet is going to hit that part of your body. And yeah, this can also cut you in half, literally. Very brutal, very quick, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Apart from some celebrity from when he shot up a town decades ago, he wasn't famous except to those who knew him, and since getting out of jail, when not being an embarrassment to the government each time they use him, he has lived with monks in Thailand or wrangled snakes in some backwater or other.
As a former abrams tank commander, that footage with the 50 caliber tearing through bodies is pretty close to accurate. I've used it against numerous vehicle during my time in Iraq and it left holes the size of grapefruit even in the engine block, you can only imagine what it would do to a body. The only thing I find unrealistic is that it never jammed once while firing with trigger down (its a movie of course) the 50 cal is a notoriously moody weapon at full auto.

I remember asking a friend of mine who'd been in Afghanistan or Iraq, I forget which-just glad he didn't get hurt save for someone backing a truck onto his shoulder, and during the 50 scene I asked, "Is that legit?" He just nodded once.

During the scene with the boat pirates. I love how the subtitles stop at the point where Rambo stops listening to them as he plans which order to shoot them in. Such a cool detail.
I hear ya. Moreover, there's another detail I find cool: Rambo tries his best in this scene to reason with the pirates, even though he knows it'd be pointless. And in this part, he was clearly disappointed and pissed off, with that "just shut the f*ck up before I'm forced to make you" look in his face.
There were rumors this would be PG-13. Thank God Stallone stuck to his gut and went full gore.

Sylvester Stallone wanted this movie to show the real atrocities that happened in places like Burma and other countries like it. He wanted it to be brutal and not have war glorified. To show just how bad some of these people had it. Hopefully we can all feel more grateful where we live, even if it isn't perfect and there's problems

When I saw the teaser poster at a movie theater, my jaw dropped and I said, "Dude, he's back!"
It was controversial as the film was banned in Burma for it's negative portrayal of the Asian government.
They premiered the movie at San Diego Comic Con and the producer told the audience that the Director's Cut will be available in 2009.
The DVD had a mini series where Stallone explains that the movie wasn't even as bad as it really was but he wanted to show as much as he could so people know what was going on there.
So, the movie barely broke even.

Met Julie Benz years ago. I joked how she was in all 3 of the IMO goriest movies of 2008-Rambo, Saw and Punisher.
They had used the original Rambo music by Jerry Goldsmith in some parts of the movie, with new music composed and conducted by Brian Tyler.
The main bad guy was actually a Karen Freedom Fighter who agreed to do the part and sadly his family were taken prisoner by the Burmese government when they found out he was in this movie. This war has been going for over seventy years now.
I remember watching the Dvd feature where Stallone was trying to write a story that was relevant and saw something on the news about Burma and the horrors that were still happening. This movie HAD to be dark and terrible because of the things that are taking place. Interesting fact is that main baddie was played by a former Karen Rebel who risked his life to raise awareness about what's going on.
This Rambo film & First Blood, are my personal 2 favorites of the series!! And that Browning 50 Cal Machine Gun Turret scene.....GET SUM BABY!!!! Seriously Sylvester Stallone said "Might as well be truthful, to show what & how 50 Cal does to a human body at point blank range."

This might sound odd but i would seriously recommend watching the making of documentary for this film, i think it's longer than the movie but it gives so much more context to everything.
This film has the most realistic depiction of combat violence I had ever seen in any film up to this point. It's not like in the old movies, they fall down, a little blood maybe. No high-powered rounds do incredible damage to human bodies. I've seen it.
I love the meme from this movie. They took the shot of Rambo on the 50 cal gun and painted out the gun, so Rambo looks like he is giving an aggressive two thumbs up.

Last blood was a mixed bag, it had 3 different movies in it, they had all they needed to finish the franchise perfectly but they fucked up, not knowing if they want to kill Rambo off or not, if they want to do a Rambo 2-3 style film or Rambo 1 and 4. It was a mess tonally. Few GREAT moments, Sly GREAT as always, but they fucked up.

Rambo Part lll was already considered brutal and then this one pushed it even further. They included that throat rip as a fatality in Mortal Kombat 11 for him (he was a guest character in that game).

I believe the Karen rebels actually used the "Live for nothing or die for something" as their motto. And if you guys are into Mortal Kombat, they got Rambo in 11. Not only did they get Stallone to voice him, they also got that throat rip as a fatality for him.

This movie have a bunch of good lines, and interactions.
"When you're pushed, killing is easy as breathing" and then you see the Christian aidworker going at one of the soldiers with a rock. A murder as old as mankind itself.
There's a lot of truth in this film. It was almost rated NC-17. Quentin Tarantino said this was a masterpiece that would have won Oscars if it was made by someone we never heard of. A lot of people don't wanna see Stallone succeed. Stallone said he wanted to make an action film with consequences. In other words instead of the "happy killings" we are used to, this is a film about how we deal with life as much as death. Much of the footage in the beginning is REAL.
Can't wait until you guys do more Stallone. It's always fun watching. Lock Up and Daylight are great, underrated Stallone films.
Nighthawks is a good early career movie for Stallone as well.
They still have one more Rambo to do.

That Gun that "Skool-Boy" uses is called The Barret M107 SNIPER RIFLE it's the same rifle that the late Chris Kile used during the war in Iraq..... The only gun able to fire a 50 caliber round....

Bigger was the Grand Slam, which was so ubiquitous that when the atomic bomb was announced to the public, its power was compared to 2,000 Grand Slam bombs to put it into context for people at the time.
This and Rocky Balboa helped resurrect Sylvester Stallone's career. This used real news footage and was filmed in different parts of Myanmar/Burma. The lead missionary played the main priest in The Sopranos

It always felt a bit like "ok, what if we just shoot Rambo 2 again, but dial it up to 200?", but it never bothered me. Its the full embracement of the over the top action - vicious, raw and unapologetic.
A lot of people disliked it because of the violence, in my country the uncut version is banned because of it, but I liked it, because it was not littered with one-liners or showed how much fun it is to kill people. You rarely go "yeah, cool!!" in this movie, you are appalled and speechless by the "reality" of war.
And it was nice to see how involved Stallone was with everything: actor, writer, director and closely involved with the developement of the soundtrack.

@@TBRSchmitt I would look at the cast list on Imdb. Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren among others. But you have basically seen the major action movies from the main guys, Arnold Sly and Bruce. Thing is the Expendables series keeps adding more action heros to the cast list, Chuck Norris in EX2, Mel Gibson in EX3 for example. But I’d just check Arnold’s and Sly’s IMDB and check for retro action hitters.

Here's something worth knowing.
The actor Maung Maung Khin, playing the main villain is a real life resistance fighter in Burma. He was cast because Stallone liked his life story and Khin himself wanted to raise awareness about the Civil war and the government's atrocities.
And he did that by playing a composite of some of the most despicable human beings he's encountered in his own life.
The final battle was inspired by Audi Murphy in WW2.
“On January 26, 1945, 2nd Lieutenant Audie L. Murphy was commanding company B of the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, near the French village of Holtzwihr when six German tanks and several hundred infantrymen attacked his company. Murphy ordered his men to fall back to defensive positions in nearby woods while he covered their withdrawal and called down artillery to slow the German advance. German fire hit an American tank destroyer nearby and set it on fire. Witnesses later recalled how he “climbed on the burning tank destroyer, which was in danger of blowing up at any moment, and employed its .50 caliber machine gun against the enemy.” From Murphy’s exposed position on top of the burning tank destroyer, he killed over 20 German soldiers and repelled their attack. For more than an hour, Murphy continued to fire the machine gun, despite being wounded in the leg. He then led his company in a counterattack that killed or wounded 50 more German soldiers.”
When asked why he did it he replied, “They were killing my friends”
I wish Stallone had stopped the Rambo series with this one.
I really liked the symbolism of Rambo returning home, after finally finding a sort of inner peace and acceptance of letting go of the past. First Blood was showing Rambo wandering the country, unwilling to go home. Here he does go home.
That's how I would have wrapped up his character.

I thought that this movie and Rocky Balboa were both phenomenal movies that extended and built upon their original stories and demonstrated the character progression really well. Also, it demonstrates Stallone's growth both infront of and behind the camera. You'll really like the Expendables series for the mix of comedy/action and the cast is unbelievable.
I think you'll really like Last Blood for a bunch of reasons and I'm really looking forward to it.
Last Blood got a Rotten Tomatoes score of 26%, for good reason. It’s terrible.

Been a Stallone and Rambo fan ever since I was a kid in the 80s. I watched this movie in theaters, opening weekend. I was suffering through some mental health issues at the time and just the adrenaline rush from this movie, especially the final action scene, helped me A LOT! lmao it sounds like a joke: Rambo Cured My Depression! But it KINDA did 🤣
Fun fact: the actor that plays the Burmese general is a survivor of the war in Burma and experience a lot of does atrocities.
When you guys get to the last one, make sure you watch the extended cut. The thing is that when the movie got released, the audience in the US and UK saw a shortened version for some reason, while the rest of the world saw a longer version in theaters. And when they released the longer version in the US and UK on DVD and Blu-Ray, they called it "the extended cut", while for the rest of the world, it is "the original cut". So the extended cut is the right one for you.
And that was the story of how John Rambo single-handedly ended the Burmese Civil War.
You've got to love the missionary going off on Rambo after he literally just saved them from murderous bandits.
I grew up in Burma during my teenage years. There was a boy my age (13 back then) that lived in my apartment. Every afternoon we would talk to each other from our balconies. One day I noticed that I hadn't seen him for months. It turns out that he was kidnapped by the army on the way back from school and sent to the jungle to be a mine sweeper with other 13 year olds. That's what the army does. They use children and make them march ahead of the army in case there's any mines.
Every Christmas Eve my family has a tradition where we all sit around the fire and sip cups of cocoa, watching Rambo's Murder Jeep scene on a loop.
The first scene in movie is from real event in Burma, forcing people to run over mine bomb is also real. violence is still continues today after they removed the democratic government

This movie have gotten me into the Rambo franchise! Sly crafts everything very well in this film.
Was an 0331(Machine gunner) in the Marine Corps and I can attest that the scenes with the Ma Deuce were accurate except for two things. It didn't constantly jam and even rounds as big as .50 won't send someone flying like that. Everything else is realistic though, from tearing limbs off of people to punching fist sized holes in vehicles to ripping people in half.
There was only one weapon I handled that was more destructive and that was the Mk 19, which is literally a belt fed 40mm grenade machine gun.
Being from Az "Rambo" is my Arizona hero such a true Bad A$$ I started watching these young because of my dad. I always have a moment when he goes full circle and comes back home after like 30+years.
Rambo: Last Blood had 2 theatrical versions. In Australia we had the longer version that has a 10 minute opening scene. The USA never got this version. It would be to your benefit if you were able to react to the longer version.
My fav Rambo. Super dark compared to the rest. But also super realistic with what war is like.
A sniper's purpose is almost more psychological than numeric. After someone next to you has their head explode and you don't even know where it came from, it tends to remove your eagerness to move forward. Also, the mercenaries weren't prepared for what they are in for.
Saw this on opening night with a bunch of mates in Sydney. Cinema had about 40-50 people in it - all male, all in clumped groups of 5-10, all around our age (let's just say it's a safe bet we all grew up renting VHS). Shocked exclamations and a few cheers through the film, but once the final set piece kicked in, the room just became a cacophony of howling, hollering, laughing and chaos. Unlike US cinema audiences, Australian theatre experiences for the sot part are not like this at all. Essentially, everyone was just so taken aback by the sheer gratuity of it all that it was really the only way to deal. "Laugh through it now, process it all later", basically.

The big bad in this movie was himself a Karin rebel. And it was meaningful for him to do this movie to bring awareness to this war.
I was really surprised how good this movie was. He managed to make the most down-to-earth AND over-the-top sequel at the same time.
Another Sylvester Stallone movie you should check out is Lock Up. It wasn't a big hit but I think it's one of his better performances in one of his better movies. It also has Donald Sutherland as the warden.
Lock Up is great. I really do hope they watch it eventually.

It’s crazy looking at this movie in juxtaposition with the previous three. The violence depicted is so visceral and realistic but ultimately necessary to show people how brutal and unforgiving this civil war is.
Apart from First Blood this might be my favourite of the whole series. Props to Stallone for directing this
This film ALMOST GOT AN NC17 rating for the children getting killed, but when Stallion told the producers this needed to be shown, they dropped it back to an R Rating.
I highly recommend you watch the director's cut. It extends a few conversations between Rambo and Sarah, giving both characters extra dimension. During the scene where Rambo forges a new knife, we hear the pastor saying a prayer for the missionaries, which I think is just as effective as the "killin's as easy as breathin'" monologue.
What is so great about this film in my poor is...
People think just because they are on a "humanitarian" mission in a war zone. ..that the parties involved in the war will respect them. Not the case. Often times these people end up murdered, kidnnaped, and sold into slavery (sex trafficking/labor).
When I was in Afghanistan...a doctor that worked for a humanitarian organization was kidnapped . He was being transported to Pakistan where he would most likely have his head removed and filmed. Lucky for him, the group that kidnapped him stopped to stay at a house that we knew about just before the border of pakistan. A rescue mission was out together and the doctor was ssved. However, a navy seal lost his life in that mission. I remember thinking, "we lost a key member of our military fighting force today...In exchange for a civilian doctor. Doesn't seem right or fair. This navy seal post his life to save a foolish man's life". I understand that people want to help others...But the doctor was better off trying to create political pressure to end the war than going into a war zone. Like Rambo said....you ain't changing anything.
The reason why Stallone kept his shirt on the entire film was because he had gotten tattoos. This would have been a continuity error for Rambo, who lived in Thailand for 20 years after the events of Rambo 3, because no one in that country tattoos in that style (to my knowledge) of which Stallone got his.

Best Rambo movie ever. The theater actually gave a standing ovation at the end I couldn’t believe it.
At 10:34 in this video, part of the flashback actually shows the original ending for the first movie, where Rambo uses Trautman's gun to shoot himself dead. It's a real "blink and you'll miss it" scene.
I like this for how it portrays on realistic effects a weapon has on a human body. The weapon that Schoolboy uses is a .50 Cal anti-material rifle. Its primary purpose is to disable armored vehicles like tanks. It can penetrate the armor of tanks. That weapon that Rambo used towards the end that was on the Jeep is a M2 .50 Cal Browning. That's why it tore through those soldiers like Swiss cheese. You can find images online to see how large the bullets are. The movie wasn't shy on showing the viciousness of the Burmese government towards its own people.
This is my 2nd favorite Rambo movie after the original which will never be topped. I got to see this & the last one at the theaters. If they ever do a special screening of the first 3 I would be there
Yeah... i'm in my late 40's and grew up on Rambo 1-3. I would go see them in the theater.

Definitely a brutal movie. I didn't have a chance to see it in the theater, so I saw it about a year later. It certainly left an impression on me. I prefer the first 3 movies, but it's still good.

I feel the director's cut of this one would have been the better option. The cut dialog rambo has with Sarah in the boat before being convinced to take them was great. Didn't understand why it was removed and it showed that out of everyone in the group she did understand him better.
Critics said this movie oversimplified the Burmese conflict, but it clearly had an impact: getting caught with a bootleg copy of this film was an automatic prison sentence in Burma. Getting caught selling the bootlegs was an automatic death sentence.

I got to see Rambo in the theaters and thought the last battle was awesome with Rambo tearing through all those soldiers, but after me and my friend went home and we had time to let it set in and we were both shaken and had to talk to one another because of how brutal the movie was.
Rambo III was in 1988, so 20 years between III and Rambo (IV) TBR.
i remember when this movie released, people from Myanmar felt like somehow they saw the light in the end of the tunnel.... so many emotions, i remember when Rambo killed those Burmese soldiers...everybody in the movie theater..cheered and shouted for Rambo... i remembered some of them were crying with mixed reaction... like they were looking for a hero to save their country....so many memories ... back in 2008 this movie was very very illegal to watch. Now U can get arrested and sent to prision if you watch this movie. Again, the burmese people are still fighting the dictatorship after the coup 2021 on February, now even it more intense than the last 70 years civil war. Now every states of the country (people defence force) are fighting. Everyday is fighting now.
