Mark Sullivan it’s based on real events the guy who played the commander his family was slaughtered by the regime he was portraying. So this movie was a brining something real to the theaters
They wrote the violence to be so brutal because it’s set in Burma (Myanmar) and the Karen Rebels have been fighting a tyrannical government for 70 years now. 60 when they made this movie. A lot of Burmese refugees were glad they depicted the brutality as close to how it actually was for them.
The actor that plays the villain, Maung Maung Khin was actually a real life Karen Resistance fighter who escaped to Thailand (where the movie was filmed). I imagine he was quite familiar with the brutality of the Burmese military.
My high school teacher who was a Vietnam War vet, said Saving Private Ryan was the movie that came close to depicting the brutality of war...and even that film, he said, fell short. If you’re familiar with how brutal Saving Private Ryan was, then Rambo 4 is pretty darn close, just to give you some perspective.🤞
You know I was just thinking about the invasion of Normandy Beach scene in Saving Private Ryan and how it compares to this scene, they are pretty close.
It appears Ashtyn has been raised on modern PG-13 violence. This movie was rated "R". It's a throwback to old 80s action films. A similar scene back then would have been more cheezy and noticeably fake. This is probably closer to reality. Plus since you only reacted to just the one clip, and not the whole movie, let's just say there's reasons why there was no mercy given to them.
She doesn't understand that this is a watered down version of what really happens in Burma! This wasn't Sylvester Stallone just dreaming this stuff up. Which makes you think that if this is a water down version of what really goes on over there then that's really scary!
This movie is so perfect it shows exactly how much damage a bullet does to the body. Hats off to the writer. And lady their mind are in a perfect condition, he is just showing the reality don’t live in a fairyland face the reality
The man Rambo killed at the end was actually the leader of the Karen Rebels! He participated in the movie to help bring attention to the real life atrocities that were happening in this country!
A US soldier wrote to the film creators saying well done on ACCURATELY depicting what 50 cal bullets do to human bodies. That was not done just for the sake of gore, it was done because it was doing it PROPERLY.
Bad things going on in their head? No, whoever wrote the scripts should have made the ending scene more violent and brutal. The Rambo series is for guys and this ending scene is just pure entertaining.
To anyone who hasn't seen the movie First Blood, you're missing out because you gain more insight on John Rambo as a broken veteran, needlessly pursued and assaulted by police and haunted by the horrors of the Vietnam war serving as a Green Beret
This is a movie talking about how even in this day and age some countries still make martyrs of Christians who are simply trying to bring medical supplies and aid to poor countries. American or no, many Christians are bravely still going to places like this doing the right thing helping people.
I love these movies and i love John Rambo hes very inspirational in so many ways he even teaches you about survival and combat its really cool stuff and hes very realistic too
War is hell, this movie depicts as close as possible to how it is. War is no picnic, ask any war vet who has seen combat. They never come back the same as before they went to war. Myself, when I first watched it, I was expecting the kind of stuff seen in the first 3 movies, but this movie upped the ante, amped up the violence, and as the bad guys were mowed down, I could only cheer.
If you think about it Rambo has always touched on subjects based on real events that have taken place Rambo first blood shows how we treat our war hero’s, Rambo 2 saving pows in Vietnam because they never gave them back, Rambo 3 fighting the Russians in the Middle East self explanatory, Rambo 4 Burmese civil war and now Rambo 5 taking on human trafficking and the drug cartels
yes! the perspective they went with for the antagonists, gave me chills when rambo started moeing them down with that big ass 50 cal! they made their military look so evil!
Written and directed by Sylvester Stallone, he wanted to make the violence more realistic so he looked at what these weapons REALLY do to people and recreated it for the film. Other parts of the movie as well, it doesn't shy away from showing what really happens over there.
Poor girl thinks this is fake. While u sleep in ur bed all warm and cozy, there are men out there keeping us safe. They do the dirty work, so we dont have too.
5:35, maybe it’s that they have a little semblance of what actually happens when you shoot someone, heads do come off, arms legs things go flying, and they try to capture the chaos of war not theatrical side
that 50 cal is used to disable and destroy military vehicles! so when the antagonist we’re getting cut in half in this scene, it’s probably pretty accurate to the real thing.
The leader of the bad guys in this film, was himself a captive of the real life Burmese totalitarian regime. So he gave first hand accounts of the horror of war and genocide. Also, the producers of this Rambo 2008, knew that the action in the 1980's Rambo movies (graphic as they were for that time) - would be boring by the standards of a 2008 audience.
A buddy of mine that served in the US ARMY in Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan says from first hand knowledge, that this is the most accurate depiction of what Rambo's Browning M2 .50cal and School Boy's Barrett .50cal can do to another human being.
My uncle and I were hanging out one night up at his place in the summer of 09 and we were pretty loaded and he came across this movie and asked me, what's this? I said the new Rambo uncle Gregory. He said oh shit we got to watch this. Funny too because he himself was a highly decorated Vietnam Green Beret in the 5th. Recon Team Mamba and he's a huge fan of Stallone and the Rambo movies. During this scene I asked him is that what a .50 cal gun woyld do? He said, yep it will take your head right off. Told me that was very realistic. He liked the way Stallone didn't give two fucks about the group of people and that he only really cared about the woman because Rambo was like a beast. He was living in the jungle catching snakes that are deadly and didn't care about the world. Because his own country didnt care for him and my uncle could relate to that when he and my father returned from Vietnam they got shit thrown at them by self righteous hippy fucks that were lucky they didn't have a side arm when they did that chicken shit stuff because he said he would have buried those pussies and would eat a nice big lunch after doing it. Just to let you know Hollywood dipshit asshats didnt write this movie. The man himself Sylvester Stallone wrote and directed it. If a highly decorated Green Beret gives Rambo a seal of approval then its good I guess. I didnt know how decorated my uncle was until his funeral. A two star General and the fort Bragg color guard came to his funeral and he told our family the medals and citations he won and all the confirmed kills he had. He won the silver star and many other medals for heroic and above and beyond courage to save his fellow soldiers lives to come home to what he and other veterans had to deal with is just wrong. I sure wish he was still alive to see this new one. He and my dad took me and my cousin to the original first blood when I was 8 and seems like yesterday but time sure flies

You said that the producers or writers of this movie must be not all there in the head? This sort of violence is very normal in war and ethnic cleansing. War and combat is glorified in movies and games but in reality, a living nightmare to those who have survived or been through it, those that do are normally hunted by not only what they have seen, but by what they have done or not done, especially when the adrenaline leaves your system when your back at base and you start going through it over and over in your mind.
