"upon speaking with X, several cutscenes will play in sequence" Every single freaking player: oh no... IM NOT READY 😢 I just love the collective PTSD we all have from that one single sentence.
Emet Selch is the most perfect antagonist ever written. No matter how many times he offered advice, how many times help offered aid that we had no ability to duplicate, he was always true to his cause even if they only temporarily aligned with our's. He was always going to betray us, we all knew it, we just held out on that hope we might have avoided it, but it WAS ALWAYS going to happen.
Shadowbringers, and ESPECIALLY the patches, are just a string of voice actors taking their performance to a new level and every other voice actor taking offense and having to one up them in their next scene. Alisae, Lyna, Elidibus, Ardbert, they just raise the bar and then the next one raises it again and they rise to the challenge every. single. time.
@@ninjafoxgamesgeekery Here's hoping that one day they'll eventually go back and have VAs voice that one specific scene that everyone wanted so badly to be voiced, but wasn't. (Being vague because spoilers, and Jorja's not there yet.)
There were a lot of really good and emotional story beats leading up to this, but I feel this was the first absolute haymaker Ishikawa landed on us. Flat on my back wondering what hit me.
The game builds us up, tears us down, and then has the best cheerleaders a hero could ever ask for, pick them back up again. Having Ardbert talk about looking at the sky and realizing "it's all your fault," is a brilliant bit of writing that has us understand his emotions as the character is empathizing with ours. This expansion was such an emotional journey.
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.
This whole part of ShadowBringers hit me hard! I had zero clue who the exarch was so when his hood flew back I screamed and cried. I asked my husband “was that G’raha?” And he said “yes and he’s been waiting for you here this whole time”. He waited 100 years for you just to save you and a world that wasn’t his. When Urianger knelt in front of me all I wanted to say was “there is naught to forgive, I understand why you did it.” Whatever they paid the writer of this expansion, they need to quadruple it!
Natsuko Ishikawa wrote (the better) half of Stormblood's MSQ and then was promoted to lead writer and wrote all of Shadowbringer and Endwalker. As for compensation I'm sure she gets paid well but do a search for 'Pax West Natsuko Ishikawa' and you'll see her getting something that no amount of money could match imo.
Learning Vauthry's origins made me feel sorry for him, honestly. He was indoctrinated by his parents, and manipulated by the Ascians from birth. He never even had the chance to be normal...
So here is an interesting Final Fantasy fact, Mt. Gulg was a dungeon from the first final fantasy game, and players have left the source and are in the first 😊
Okay, I seem to be in the minority here in seeing the Meol Twist coming from a mile away. When the jungeleurs pulled out the meol, the populous was not jumping around and cheering out of hunger, they seemed more like they were getting their drug fix. "Meol is peop-I MEAN, meol is sin eater" was one of the possibilities that came to mind. Did that occur to anyone else?
It's been a joy to watch your playthrough of this lifechanging story! All FFXIV fans are emotional leeches, who feed on other people's tears and share in them. lol
"Emotional leeches"...isn't wrong. The way I like to put it is that you can only experience something for the first time once (unless you're in a Drew Barrymore "Fifty First Dates" situation, but that kinda voids it) and so we vicariously relive our first experience through others' first experiences. Which can lead to toxicity and backseating, because we want them to have the best experience possible, thus giving US the best "repeat first experience." Selfish altruism at its best.
Feo Ul's temper tantrum about not being called upon will forever be the highlight of SHB for me besides post story stuff lmaooo, bc it makes them so mad they go absolutely batshit on the forgiven xD
I still think it would have been great to have Vaulthry be pretty like Innocence from the begining. Would have been better to sell the "benevolent" "chosen by the sin eaters" ruler of the city of pleasures instead of the bloated Jabba "totally obvious that he is a bad guy" look
Right but the power of light is stasis. And he was given the power of a Light Warden as a baby. So as he grew up he literally remained with the features one would have as a baby. Extra fat on the hands, feet and face. Little hair save the crown of the head. And roundish features as the body hasn't grown to a more adult form.
Would we have hated him as much if he was pretty from the start ? We've seen plenty of villains turn ugly in a quest for power. I think this was a welcome change.
I'm angry at my gf (silently) for playing through shb too fast. But like I keep watching all the streamers reactions videos and being stuck in the past, so it's not even fair tbh. Shb is best imo

I was one of the few who had no idea it was Graha, and his hood blowing off brought me to tears

And he never lied about it.
"Oh no! Curse your sudden, but inevitable, betrayal!"
Alisae's VA can be such an incredible powerhouse of emotion when the situation demands it.
She became my favorite scion.
Followed by estinien and g'raha.

12:17 - Oh, no! He's hot! 🤣
18:30 - Oh, and you would know all abou t vaguely defined acts of teleportation and their risks, right Y'shtola?
Graha loves our WoL so much and it shows. The best boy. We love him.
G'raha is the boyfriend we all need but not the one we deserve.

When Vauthry flew away with those wings all I could think about was the caterpillar in A Bug's Life.
I am a beautiful butterfly!
I'm pretty sure you're not the only one 😅

Everyone watching: "Nope."

"My husband shot my other husband!"
I do love when people get to the “Oh no! He’s HOT!!” part of the game.

ardbert watching the talos come to life and feeling hope for the first time in a hundred years is just (breaks down crying on the floor)
Graha held the line for 300 years for you just to get shot by a pistol

It did have some real soylent green vibes
I never clocked it being sin eater, but I was absolutely sure it would be people.
Shadowbringers: Emotional Damage "R" Us.
That Alisae scene to end the video was one I don't remember... damn did it hit hard.
22:59 - When you've visited the Balmung Quicksand one too many times.

Yeah, this whole segment really wrecked me :( But don't give up, I know the WoL can still do it!
The most "Oh no he's hot" to ever "Oh no he's hot"
OMG I am loving your FFXIV playthrough!
Oh boy oh boy oh boy! I can't WAIT for the next video!
I've never heard of anyone choosing anything but "Alphineau and his Assistsnts."
2:36
Not gonna lie, that was unsettling even for ME! Absolute horror tones right there.
:0 fellow Penny enjoyer going through Shadowbringers!!
Her cosplays are fantastic. I remember a Yang one as well, and of course, the Neo aesthetic for her and her WoL.
12:17 OH NO! HE'S HOT

Funny enough, I had no idea who Gra'ha was since the towers weren't mandatory at the time so I was like "Am I supposed to know this dude?"
Heheheh, I’ve been waiting for this moment >:) and a few others. Hehehe.
Yesssssss I've been waiting for this video!
Lmao I was one of the few that literally had no idea who the exarch was cause I skipped all the CT cutscenes
I still love you Emet, don't let these people get you down 💓

Keep in mind graha tia has probably not heard his own name in 100s of years.
Oh yeah, Emet is one of FF14's greatest monsters.
easily top6 the most stressful cutscene .
Ahhh, I need more. Guess it's time to scrub Twitch and see how far you are
people saying "oh no he's hot" like... he's hot in a way a nice porcelain vase is hot
lets go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mmmmm yes, delicious streamer tears
Feo Ul is best fae.
Feo Ul is bestie ❣
