Personally I think the books would've been way better if the inside was an LED screen instead of a regular book.
Like a pair of tablets inside of a sick techno binding.
I honestly think they should get rid of the books altogether. I've always considered them lame both from a design and a conceptual standpoint.
I'm like 99% sure the Gunblade is supposed to be like a Railgun but also serves as a Blade. It also reminds me of the Energy Sword from Halo
The crazy thing I discovered with monk weapons is that the real "Xiaolin warriors" used claws, or bladed fist weapons for melee attacks to kill their opponents back in the old days. Xeno's takes on bladed monk weapons needing to be blunt are 100% false, since Xiaolin warrior monks who were at war in the old era needed to kill their enemies. The Old School China era was another hell in itself.

What bothers me the most about those books is why on earth are we using paper on a sci-fi weapon?
They could have done something like a screen or holographic pages lol just seems lazy they are more of a binder than a book
give smn and sch and scholar a tablet instead of a book. lol

What they should have done for SCH and SMN was black pages with the purple/blue glow as the text of the pages with the hexagons on back.

SCH SMN got shafted hard (as per usual.) if they went with either a multilayered tablet book that lit up as you said, or a metal binder that opened into hexagonal sheets with the circles acting as book covers, and the blade material as the binding, the weapon would be set. IDK who they have on book design, but honestly the only designs that have been interesting is the tombstone SCH book from the contest we got with 6.4, and summoner pretty consistently gets the short end of the stick.
Or remove the pages thing and make it a full tablet screen with text/diagrams that change in a loop
As a fan of the aesthetic, im a big fan of how the relics look overall, but I agree that I wish they had different colors or were differently themed based on job. This feels more like a set of ultimate weapons than it does a relic, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it is a thing. Again, I love the aesthetic, but for those who don't, they are kinda out of luck.
and then all the fucking children would bitch about the color they get and wanting one of the other colors that were used. this way everyone can just shut the fuck up about it since they're all the same color

Surprisingly I'm not against universal colors this time. When it comes to one color per class, some classes always get the same color all the time that I don't like. Like Xeno says he wants red and yellow on the axe, but I'm never a fan of red, yet there are already way too many red themed axes. Good to get something different and generally appealing.
The glow has a hexagon effect, the streamer has a hairagon effect.
These weapons look like they are straight out of the new dawntrail technopunk area where the new raid will also be set, so yeah it looks like it could literally be a dawntrail savage weapon. I wonder how similar the actual savage weapons are going to look to this honestly.
And thats why I love them, I like futuristic Cyberpunk things and I need to make a glam to match it and the area.

Why ..... this weapons look like shit , basic , no difference or uniqueness between all of them , boring , no creativity involved.... now you can unsubbed no one will miss you
I don't mind the arrow on the bard weapon being glowy like it's magic because let's be honest, the only thing "archer" left of bard at this point is that all of their instant cast laser spells are vaguely arrow shaped at the end.

After the previous step WHM weapon, we were owed an awesome one. The previous step was...horrendous.
Its funny cause I liked the third step better than this one. This step is cool if you're going for a techno vibe though.
Yeah, the Shadowbringers white mage one was amazing too.
Gunbreaker weapons seem to go through this pattern of being either elegant, well balanced swords, or being monstrous cleavers. Someone really has to be into that Gundam butcher knife aesthetic to like the last step and Abyssos was just godly for a lot of glamour.

I get the same feeling with machinist weapons. It's either a nice elegant piece of machined art, or some kind of bulbous monstrosity that makes me not want to play machinist

im surprised this wasn't used for the raid weapons next raid tier, considering the setting it's in but these are pretty cool
i feel the hate for monk bladed weapons. Imagine if instead of holograpic blades, they put just holo knuckels in your palms.
I love them but wish each job had unique colors on its weapon and also missed opportunity to be dawntrail's savage weapons while those could have been something else that's more uniquely themed

The Kitoesis books look really cool. I've yet to find any others I like except for just the Plain books the Garo/Makai books are fine.

yeah the hw and sb relics are great, but also add the crafted tsukuyomi book
the vfx are cool but previous weapons imo have more unique designs

I like how the SCH weapon, from the front, looks like a butterfly or fairy
I'm not too big on the weapon color dye (prefer the Zadnor Final Relics)...but I believe it's intentional; for when the 2nd dye option come sout, it's gonna look insanely good
Meh the second dye probably won't change the effect color
The only gripe I have with these weapons is the fact that stuff like the Arcadion, Solution 9, and Terminator exist.
The moment I see these weapons my mind immediately pivots to that theme and not an Endwalker relic.
its okay xenos we gunbreakers know being bald can lead to your head overheating and making bad calls. but we love you for it
I wish the rest of the weapons had a little flair to reflect the job more like WHM did. A little holographic detail/reference.
The white mage weapon feels the most custom-designed out of the lot. It visually incorporates the job's themes and makes creative use of the effect.
Dragoon _feels_ like its about to shoot forward and stab something. Real good use of the effect and good model design.
Summoner and scholar books are reminiscent of Bahamut and the fairy respectively (wings shoot out of summoner, scholar feels like fairy wings), but they have the problem all books have: the good looking part faces downward.
Red mage would be great if the glow blade followed the shape of the physical blade. Right now it feels more hefty than a rapier.
I agree tbh the could've easily given the relics a different colors , the stormblod relics all have the same effect but they all have unique color schemes . Idk just like xeno said they seem homogenized lol
Hmm idk why Square is taking less risk on stuff like this relic design at all feels like a crafted Extreme weapon glow instead of it being fully unique.

I quite literally can't use any of these weapons in any glamour, they all look completely out of place and their homogenous design is a massive turn off.
And I wish we could turn the FUCKING glow off!!!
I am hoping with 2 dye system on 7.0, will let us change the colors it swaps too, which make really nice for effects. To note: i think the gunblade is supposed to be simular to a tesla cannon.
These give off more akin to the Ultima weapons. *they all look the same with same effects*
Glow on weapons isn't actually in a dye channel, youd have to go into an editor and change the effect itself
The "joke weapons" would be better. This weapons would be cool, for the first tier of the next raid.
If you told me these were supposed to be relics I wouldn't believe you none of them are unique at all not even the colors
Not to defend how watered down the design of the final relics are, but I think the reason why the Mandervillian weapons look so homogenized in design, instead of individually master crafted weapons, is because they were meant to be mass produced. We find out that Godbrand Manderville designed them as a way to fight against the monstrosities that people mutate into during the Final Days, so maybe they were intended to be mass produced and distributed widely so people can defend themselves.
All I'mma say is, Desperius kinda slacking on picking a light af location for these relics, being in a well lit area doesn't do their glow justice.

but anyway. I think one way to "fix" the book weapons being so boring is to give them some kind of minor visual flair to their classes' summons. Like they don't have to completely revamp the scholar fairy for every new book, but imagine if like the extreme golbez book gave a lil dark tinge to Eos' wings or something
I like that FF14 has jobs that use books for casting, but I wish they would be more creative with the special books, different inside pages and generally unique shapes. When I saw a screenshot of the Summoner book i thought it was two black screen edges and a bunch of magic circles in the middle.. Was disappointed it was just the same old inside.
I got my gunbreaker one first. I loved how it had similarities to the Monado from Xenoblade.
I think the gunblade is my favorite of the relics, but I get why some may not like it. I've always loved the forward displacement of the blade from the handle (think Shulk's monado from Xenoblade), especially with gunbreaker's handle/chamber displacement designs on previous weapons. The shaft of the blade moving to open into a holographic blade alongside the effects of this tier is EXACTLY what I've wanted for a long while, and with the design of Solution 9, I think we'll get gear that matches the same aesthetic of these weapons.
I would love it if it was sleeker. It's literally the only aspect I don't like about it, the bulkiness compared to the handle
tbh most ppl do seem to love the GNB blade. hes one of the very few ppl whos hated it, ive seen
I think sleeker is fair, if the unsheathed blade stayed in the same location, the sheathed state would only need to move the back of the blade forward to close the sheathed gap. that way the hole between front and back blade would only exist when unsheathed, the weapon would have a sleek shape, and lastly would still keep the interesting physical displacement of the blade. @@nejaahalcyon
The weapons look really nice. The only problem is that there isn't a satisfaction to get them and you don't get this sort of "exclusivity" like the relics from previous expansions. Back then you had to work your ass to get one of these even though it was more for glam than anything else. It's really sad to see 90% of the server with the relic weapons since basically, it's a common weapon. I hope by next expansion the bozja/eureka-like areas give us some sort of task or something to complete the new relics.
you know there will be 21 relics next expansion and there is so many different glamour options already if you want to have a unique looking weapon you already have a ton of options since most people just use the shiny new thing and forget the older stuff is there
why do they make for smn and sch a cyperpunk themed glamour for a book. just give them a fucking tablet already ffs

WHM is hands down the best. I would have loved SGE but the model itself is too big and didn't need the 2nd particle ring.
I love that the pld shield has emitters on it and the glowy triangles actually match up when drawn
Anamnesis Lux is one of like 2 or 3 good books in the game. It is the only one I use on my Summoner.

this last tier is only as good as a random trial's weapon series. Didn't bring any unique weapon shapes like ARR or HW relics, and then they decided to slap shit load of effects and call it a day.
I can't tell if the projection on the bow is actually supposed to be the arrow or if its a bad take on some combination of the stabilizer, strong stop, and cable guide of compound longbows...

Overall I like the designs of the weapons themselves and the effects only downside is I would’ve definitely preferred different colors for the weapons as well or at least a specific color for the category of the class the weapon is in
I'm just glad that the monk weapons aren't excessive. I will usually use the glamours that aren't dragons or whatever on my character's fists.
I personally think relic weapons for SCH and SMN should give skins for your summons at the final stage
I'm convinced now that these were never intended to be relics, but recycled tomestone gear they never ended up using. There's no class identity at all.
If gunblade's opening had extended energy bladed barrel, that shit would look 6/5, but sadly it doesn't 3/5.
Last relics for endwalker and the entire saga, should've been more epic. like godly, galaxy space theme. not another engineer robotic crap. just my opinion.

All the weapons having the same effect doesn't surprise me. That's seems pretty normal. The weapon effects all being the same color scheme was a surprise though.
I really like the weapons but they just have the old protect skill casted on them and I can't unsee it now
The weapons look cool, but im honestly dissappointed in them for Hildibrand weapons. I'd of personallyt like it to be brighter, more coloruful and goofier designs. None of these have any real personality to them.
By making all the relics having the same effect and color, it just seems like these were marketboard weapons.

Underwhelming tbh. Reminds me of SB relics and boy were those a massive let down. I think the main issue is the monotony of the weapon effects.

I feel like they had a low budget for relics this time around or something. Very low effort. All of them have an identical effect, every step was a flat 1500 tomes straight up, didn't feel like a relic at all. Maybe they figured combining it with the Hildibrand bullshit would even it out. Xeno's right though, the PLD, DRG, and WHM weapons stole the show this time.
ngl i defo wouldve been more mad if i had to grind a bozja area for this relic weapon. Like holy everything just feels samey it really just feels underwhelming
i think they could of had better potential for the book by not having an actual book and it being like a hologram book thats just kinda effects with some kinda arcane text on it
Everything else beside, the original video is quite a "meh" to me, limited angels, didn't show how the weapons look off hand, and very bad choice of bgm, didn't fit the weapon theme. I saw better.

The weapons are from the future. The gunbreaker weapon looks like a plasma rifle. Futuristic weapons tend to differ aesthetically than what we’re commonly used to.
Sadge thet they made GNB weapon look so bad at least I play different tanks whenever I feel like it so WAR axe will be cool

Hmm, maybe they'll bring back some of the XI motifs for 7.0 relics then, that'd be interesting. I totally agree with Xeno btw, about how each style should be unique to the Job rather than one unified design.
However that would also result in a shitload of additional work for the art teams.
This game and it’s damn d-guards. What do they have against cross guards on the proper swords? Why are ninjas reverting back to rogue knives instead of ninja swords? As far as I’m concerned, pretty much all of the EW relics have missed the mark. These look like they all drop from the same boss, and with the exception of the whm staff, feel rather uninspired. Surprised these’ve been as well received as they have.

I am trying to nitpick. Every job weapon should have a specific, unique effect.
I like when they redesign the AST's cards back on occasion, the traditional theme of the original design clashes with the cyberpunk feel somewhat

Seeing these makes me appreciate the relics from previous expansions. Not a fan of how every weapon is similar in aesthetic. They look like weapons you'd get from a raid themed around said aesthetic, not a relic questline.
The thing i don't like about GNB weapon is that it looks like someone ripped a laser cannon from a spaceship and said "here's your gunblade" if it had more gunblade shape rather than space ship salvage, it would be so much better!
Heck, shrink it and make those laser cannons the sage weapon instead of the stakes!

For the first time in a long time we actually have an astrologian weapon that I think can actually stand up to Canopus Lux. I haven't changed my astrologian weapon glamour in years because nothing just felt as good particle wise or design wise as the canopus lux.
Same, its my go to weapon glam. I kinda wish the hex effect overtook the cards more like the spheres on cl does though,
I agree with your take on the monk weapon, I notice a couple weapons that are huge blades that a monk Carries and punches with, I feel like we need more relics like those, we do not get enough of those weapons for monk honestly in which I'd say they are cooler than what we got or just fists in general.
First bow since HW I like, honestly did not think I would ever like another bow. And I like the MNK weapon, I always wanted smaller weapons over the bulky ones they always get. That said Omega ult wep covered that and I will never use anything else since getting those also made me retire from raiding... and still have not come back to play the game in general since kek

Tbh, the previous tier of relics looks better because the weapons didn't have one glow style/color. PLD/DRG has the black and blue glow, WAR has the red and orange, RPR/GNB has the green and yellow and so on. I think the only reason they made this design is because they want to connect these relics to the next expac's relics.

i dont get the sentiment for these relics that the issue is "that they all have the same effect". thats literally been a thing on relics since ARR. the only exceptions i can think of are the HW Books for SMN and SCH but other then that the effects were the same just tweaked for the weapon model and maybe a color variation, which is kinda redundant since these are RGB weapons which go through different colors anyway. they work on the exact same principle. and yes i know what im talking about i have done all HW relics, most ARR Relics, Some SB relics, All ShB Relics and sofar im working on all EW relics. you either like the effects of the phase or the phase isnt for you, thats literally the relic thing since their creation. but for that you have different phases from which you can pick your favorites for glam and get replicas.
if they were all gonna have the same effect the least they could do was make them different colors. gonna be real this might be worst finished version of relics yet and thats saying something cus the stormblood relics were kind of a let down.
I see a lot of people talk a lot of sugar about the gunblade relic. I thin its awful. glad Xenos has the correct opinion ;)
though the onlythree weapons i really like from this set are PLD ,DRG, and SGE.
I liked the previous set much better.
Point of order. as a summoner main. The last good looking relic was the ARR relic. Some people seem to like the anima weapon too, but I don't like the effect.
