In 2 days he learned 5 songs, 5 extremely fast and hard songs and we played live without any rehearsal, we had a good time together, he is a very humble and friendly guy, amazing to see him on Drumeo!!! The most impressive thing about this performance for me is looking at his neck and shoulders. Look at how relaxed he is!!!. At no point does he look stressed or tense. Admirable and enviable.
Exactly, he is so relaxed. He learned this incredibly difficult song in one hour... and played it so well that he could have literally went on stage with the band and played it right then and do it effortlessly... really mind blowing stuff!
When playing anything it's important to stay relaxed. That's how people learn how to play fast and loud like this. I've played multiple instruments and that's the most important lesson I learned when I first started out in music
He has to. If you are tensing up and trying to muscle through a song like this, you will not be able to play it. You NEED technique and finesse. It's the only way.
Drumeo has really figured out their social media game. Here I'm sitting as a guitarist who doesn't care much about technical drummers with their ghost notes and rebound hits, but it's hard to stay away from these types of videos! Well played Drumeo, well played! (And you to Riccardo!)
I wish someone would do a guitar Channel like this take like country guitarist or hip hop guitarist alternative and see if they can learn metal or fill on the guitar part of a song without hearing it
This is a man that has truly mastered his craft. Coming in and learning an almost 8 minute song thats considered to be one of the most difficult out there, and playing it almost flawlessly, after only a little over an hour is insane.
That was insane! He listened to the song, Wrote down some notes about the song, and killed it! In less than an hour and 20 mins! He just looked at his notes and saw it come together...Crazy!
This song always reminds me of a buddy, he always just nailed the ridiculous parts on guitar hero, tongue stickin out, buttons clacking, with the 4x or 8x still on the screen. "How did you do that?!?" Came out of my mouth every other day with this dude. Fly high Jason. Miss ya bud!
I’ll be honest, I saw this dude on his practice pad and thought “there’s no way he can do this on a drum set”. I’ve never been so happy to be so wrong. The dude’s a machine! 👍🏼👍🏼
What makes this even more impressive is that between all of the starting and stopping and note taking he probably only heard the song what 5 times in it's entirety in the 1:20? The amount of talent this channel displays in every video is incredible.
The funny thing is, I can hear where there are little hesitations and 'mistakes' and deviations fro the original - but his playing is so good that even knowing those minute errors, it still sounds amazing and live I wouldn't be able to tell.
Two of the biggest concepts Ricardo just proved, is the need and importance for recovery techniques and ear training. It teaches you how to think through drum styles and song structure types.
It is still absolutely amazing to see someone who is so good at their craft do something like this. under a hour and a half the dude nailed a ridiculously difficult song (for most of us anyway)
This song played on my playlist last week when I was taking my 6 year old daughter to daycare. I didn’t realize she was paying attention and she absolutely loves it lol I need to get a video of her singing the chorus. Now she makes me play it at least once every time we go anywhere
Strange. I started watching this video in the kitchen while my 12yo daughter was eating dinner, it grabbed her attention too, asked what it was. It’s an interesting song with different perspectives, isn’t it?
Dragonforce is an amazing band dude, I've met them before at their concert in Orlando last year. Check out their album the Power Within as well as Sonic Firestorm, amazing music.
This episode will always hold a special place in my heart. My ex of 8 years’ brother was a teenager while we were dating and he 150% lived for playing guitar, whenever I would go visit my ex his brother would ALWAYS, literally, always be playing guitar in his room. Dragonforce was one of his favorite bands and he worked his fingers to the bone trying to cover their songs, but one night I remember coming over and hearing him playing to Through the Fire and the Flames and he was incredible, even though me and my ex have been broken up for years now, I always remember how hard his brother practiced and I still feel proud of him to this day, I hope I can reconnect with him one day to tell him myself ❤
I've never seen Riccardo on a set before. Holy crap! Only fast on the hands, he said. He did an amazing job with his feet too. And he didn't look like he struggled at all! That was intense.
I love that we all get to learn the learning process from all these great drummers, like, with Riccardo we see he identifies beats using phonetic notes like “Tumpa Tumpa”, Samus66 using voice cues that he records for himself…They all work in their own way and the result is always phenomenal, thanks for sharing, Drumeo! Right. I get it that everyone is calling him out for editing his videos (which they should), but that also should not get in the way that he can legitimately play. Dave Mackintosh is actually the first drummer who inspired me to start playing when I was maybe 10. I said to myself, "I gotta play like that" 😂 I'm glad to hear him get a shout out, he is not recognized enough

Also I very much agree how Dave is not mentioned enough! Besides Herman Li I can say the same thing for anyone else who has played in DF.

@@winkletown8828you're kinda watching a reaction vid, there's just one more layer of separation. This guy is reacting *and* learning the song at the same time, and the crew is reacting to his progress.

That's the difference between a pro and amateur, the amateurs get into an A/V Engineering trade school like me and record the pros.

Marlini is a fantastic drummer indeed, despite not memorizing the entire song and at times where he'd drum to the wrong beat he'd adjust right away and very smoothly

Great performance. And you know it wasn't edited because he actually missed stuff and had to catch up. He'd have passed live, so this counts as a win in my book.
Right. I get it that everyone is calling him out for editing his videos (which they should), but that also should not get in the way that he can legitimately play. This play through was not edited at all and he is playing very well and tight the majority of the time. For learning this song on the spot like that, honestly very impressive imo.
@@firedragon_ck4509 Editing is not the problem. Claiming otherwise, when editing is. He is definitely pretty good.
@@firedragon_ck4509then maybe tell him to not continuously lie and say he doesn’t edit at ALL
@@firedragon_ck4509 It should do and always referenced. He lied to a band for an audition by faking his drumming. The fact he can play this song doesn't change that.
@@firedragon_ck4509 i don't think anyone ever claimed or believed that he isn't a world class drummer. not even the guy who made the callout video in the first place
Wow my goosebumps probably won’t stop for a week after watching this cover! 😮😮😮
For just a split second I thought he actually got ahead of the song, which would be a feat for something of this tempo. Awesome job, what a great sport you are Riccardo.
Yeah, somehow being out of time is more impressive
He did get ahead for a few measures then dropped back, which makes this performance all the more impressive in two different ways.
Every damn video on this channel is such an awesome treat. Thanks Riccardo, and team Drumeo!
Dave Mackintosh is actually the first drummer who inspired me to start playing when I was maybe 10. I said to myself, "I gotta play like that" 😂 I'm glad to hear him get a shout out, he is not recognized enough
that’s exactly how I was but with Herman Li/Sam Totman for guitar. I rarely listen to them nowadays but they were the first metal band I have ever heard and they were my favorite band for a while.
Also I very much agree how Dave is not mentioned enough! Besides Herman Li I can say the same thing for anyone else who has played in DF.
I love the fact that Riccardo almost looks like he’s reading an electricity or gas bill while actually playing insanely fast drum parts at around 200 bpm.
I LOVE the addition of the “Guitar Hero” notes during the song. AMAZING
Was about 14 when this record came out, was convinced that drumming and guitar playing had peaked with this song lol
I was like 17 and yeah....hahaha. You also didn't go to a hangout sesh and NOT play this damn song on guitar hero.
Which band/song surpassed this in your mind?
@@iauThat one Nikki Minaj song
@@iau Depends on what instrument. Id say something like slaughter to prevail has faster drums, that guy is not human. As for guitar im not a guitarist so i cant say for sure but maybe animals as leaders?
That's hilarious... so you'd never heard of *any* death metal *_at all?_* Necrophagist was out before this, and absolutely obliterates this overplayed and annoying track, on *every* level. Gene Hoglan was doing more intense drumming with Death, over 30 years ago. 🤣
Never heard of this guy before but wow can he play. Made it look effortless
That was F-ing awesome! You guys just made my bad day much better!
That looked like an absolute workout!
Now we just wait for the Herman Li reaction or the drummer of DragonForce reaction
People actually watch "reaction" videos? Sad
@@winkletown8828 You must be fun at parties!
@@winkletown8828troll.
@@winkletown8828you're kinda watching a reaction vid, there's just one more layer of separation. This guy is reacting *and* learning the song at the same time, and the crew is reacting to his progress.
@@winkletown8828you’re watching one right now lmao
When I was learning by ear in the 80s it took at least a few days, sometimes more than a week to learn a new song practicing 3-4 hours a day, these guys are doing some of the most difficult songs in a few hours. That's the difference between a pro and amateur, the amateurs get into an A/V Engineering trade school like me and record the pros.
This guy is insane to take on this song..also..love the Toto shirt 🔥
As a musician...this is insanity. I'm not a drummer but to have this level of talent is crazy. His take is more than enough for a live performance. I'm amazed by this.
So can we get Matt Garstka play Meshuggah Bleed here?
Lars ulrich
🗿@@planetcaravan2925
I probably think he already knows how to play it somehow 😂😂 knowing he is really into meshuggah
Matt Garstka playing Bleed would be boring, it’d be for a lack of a better word, easy for him
Pretty sure Garstka can play Bleed in his sleep.
I love how Riccardo writes down how to literally perform the parts instead of notes, that's very italian and we are proud of him 😁
Marlini is a fantastic drummer indeed, despite not memorizing the entire song and at times where he'd drum to the wrong beat he'd adjust right away and very smoothly
The feet play on this song has to be something crazy to maintain live. Drummers are amazing dude.
The hands _almost_ coming down then stopping during the breaks. I feel that! I started sympathy sweating halfway through the final take.
This video is brought to you by intense nostalgia. Fucking amazing
I know right. Im about to go listen to the whole Inhuman Rampage album lol.
Gene Hoglan is a quick study, I call him the super-sub. would love to see him get a challenge at some point.
I would love to see him do some Testament and Dethklok stuff.
Yes please.
What a king!!! The man is from another world for sure!! Thanks for this Riccardo!!
Please bring Aquiles Priester. By the way, he covered this song amazingly.
If Im not mistaken he was the touring drummer for a few years aswell
Never realized how intense the drums were. The guitar rifts are brutal.
wow that was epic so clean even the slip ups sounded good
That cold movement efficiency 🥶
Man he nailed that!!!
Watching this whole vid with a big smile on my face and goose bumps as he hit the last notes
Can I just say how awesome that floor tom sounds! Massive
So gentle, humble, barely any body movement to keep the energy stored, focused and having fun. These are videos we enjoy
I love this damn channel. I seriously love you guys.
I also love seeing drummers reach up and tap on their IEMs because they're scratching an itch deep down in the ear canal. I'm glad I'm not the only one, lmao.
It is nice to see an honest play through by this dude. He is an awesome drummer i hope he gives up all the quantizing his own videos. Natural is where it is at.
His ego is too fragile to not edit his videos
Say what you will but he totally crushed this one. Dude’s legit
what else would someone say?
fukin drama queen...
An hour and 19 minutes?!?! HOLY SHIT!
H O L Y DAAAAAMN, never been so entertained on youtube in a long while. love how he starts rolling his eyes and getting bored around 12:20 xD meanwhile he's killliiiing it! What a champ!
Fantastic Riccardo! So many casual DF Fans forget how awesome the drums for this song are.... focusing instead on Herman's guitar..... LOVED IT!
Damn !!! This man is a Beast!! How easy it looks!!!
no sweat guys, its just "tumpa tumpa" all along !
Amazing. He makes it look so easy. No flailing around - all his energy is directed to playing.
