  • We have made some headway on the off grid cabin addition. I got the floor insulated, subfloor nailed down, and walls framed up. Next is sheeting, roof rafters, and metal. Thanks for watching! #diy #homestead #outdoors

Here's a guy who starts building a brand new home and then decides you know what I need to put a addition on my current home. This is the kind of content I'm looking for!

He's adding an addition to this house because they are getting an addition to their family. Otherwise he would have finished the new house before doing this addition. Plans change when you get the news they did.

No. This guy built a shed located on a 3-mile hike through the snowy woods, an hour drive from the nearest small town. Then, he built a log cabin beside it. Then, he built a bathroom for the cabin. Then, a porch. Then, He tore down the original shed, and then he bought another piece of land closer to a slightly bigger town, and about 30 minutes outside that town, he built this cabin. Then, he hand-cut all the stumps around this cabin, bushwhacked all the shrubs with an old push mower, and made his own yard... by hand... And THEN He built the upstairs! AND THEN he put up a wall, TORE DOWN THE WALL, AND NOW HE IS ADDING ON THIS ADDITION!!!!! OH MY GOD IM OUT OF BREATH. and i didn't even get to mention the workshop, the chicken coops, etc etc etc... oh, don't forget about THE NEW HOUSE-SIZED LOG CABIN, really a log-HOUSE he's currently doing, he's got the exterior walls up so far.

Great start! All you need is a hammer a saw and nails! Don’t under value yourself, you’ve done a great job! It’s quite amazing to watch your vision come alive in front of you, and so quickly. Can’t wait to see the roof on next week! ❤

You are one hard working man! Its impressive how fast and confident you are. You should start a cabin building company! It would be a huge success! I wish the best for you two!

You have a few pine trees to move. Your build is looking good Kyle! I can’t believe how quick you got the walls up. You will have that done way before the baby is born.

Son, (I say son because you are actually younger than my youngest child) I am impressed. Many of the channels I watch are building, or have built homes, and you are the first I have seen NOT using a nail gun. As you said, nothing but a skill saw, a hammer, and a tape measure(you forgot the chain saw and the level though LOL) It's impressive the way you do it. And other than Sierra helping to plumb the wall sections, you've done it all by yourself, Truly impressive! I hope you are going to pull your roofing off, so you can get a good overlap so rain/snow will run off really good. Also, I hope you bring your Dad in again to help, esp with the trusses and roofing.
Congrats on the new baby coming soon. Waiting for the baby(esp your first) it'll seem like it will take forever but progress on the build(for you, not us) time will fly by!
Thanks for sharing your life with us!

Another great video. The fact that you are self taught is amazing and I hope you're proud of yourself. The house is going to be a beautiful home for the three of you. Please tell Cierra Happy Mother's Day! I'm looking forward to the next video!

I love big 36 inch doors aka handicap doors. You can actually carry things through them.
