  • Ubon Ratchathani is a major city in Northeastern Thailand. It is also considered a gateway to this region. It has got an international airport and I will be flying with Vietjet today.
Nowadays, Vietjet flies to over 10 destinations in Thailand and a lot more destinations across Asia. Vietjet has always got great monthly promotions and several flight options. If you fly to Bangkok from abroad, its flight is a good connection from Suvarnabhumi Airport to other parts of Thailand. And their service is quick too! On the aircraft, you can select your seat with only a small fee.
Ubon Ratchathani boasts the country’s first sunlight each morning. It has a long history and is rich in culture. Local culture there is derived from many roots, including Thai, Lao, Cambodian and others.
    #1 Wat Mahawanaram
    📍 goo.gl/maps/K4...
Wat Mahawanaram, as known as Wat Pa Yai, is an ancient temple in Ubon Ratchathani, believed to be built in 1779. It is a place to enshrine Phra Chao Yai In Plaeng, a Buddha image in the attitude of subduing Mara. The name literally means "Indra transformed'. There is a stone tablet inlayed behind the Buddha image. This temple is the centre of merit making in Ubon Ratchatahni.
#2 Wat Phra That Nong Bua
    📍 goo.gl/maps/oC...
Wat Phra That Nong Bua is a must-visit place. With its stunning architecture, the highlight of the temple is Sri Maha Pho Chedi which was built in 1956 to honor of 2500 years of Buddhism. The gleaming gold and white chedi at this temple loosely resembles the Mahabodhi stupa in Bodhgaya, India. The old stupa with 5 meters wide and 1 meters high is now housed by the new 55-meter stupa square base.
This temple is where Buddha relics are stored. Visitors can come and pay respect and experience peaceful environment for meditation. During the annual Candle Festival, carved candles in the parade are mostly prepared here.
#3 Khampun Museum of Weaving Culture & Khampun Museum Cafe
    📍 goo.gl/maps/W6...
Khampun Museum is owned by a Thai National Artist - Ajarn Meechai Taesujariya. Ajarn Meechai's love for hand-woven textiles inherited from his mother, Khun Mae Khampun Srisai (คำปุณ ศรีใส). Khun Mae Khampun was named a National Artist for Visual Arts in 2018 and Heritage Artist in 2010. Together with Khun Mae Khampun, Ajarn Meechai has invented weaving techniques and designed textile patterns. They vowed to conserve the age-old skills and knowledge, consequently the founding of Khampun Museum in the compound of Ban (House) Khampun which is open to the public once a year during the Candle Festival while the museum is open daily.
There is a nice café which serves local dishes and a variety of coffee and drinks. The overall atmosphere is serene and charming. This is a highly recommended place to visit.

Thank you for you message. Sorry for a late reply. Yes, Ubon is near Pakse and southern part of Laos, so you can travel there by land transportation. Geographically, you can further travel to central part of Vietnam too. Enjoy your trip!
