- In this episode we continue the Axial SCX24 Competition Build. I install the brand new Mofo RC Servo Beast brass servo! This thing is epic. Additionally, I add a complete billet transmission, skid plate, and new wheels and tires. To further refine the chassis and suspension, I swap out the shocks as well.

I really do like the mofo RC parts but I'm a super big fan of parts that go in without modifying other parts
Yeah... For most builds you're right. For a comp build I do think you have to go a step beyond the average joe to make your car the best.
Awesome build! 13:57 Hope you get better soon!
The difference in tires was amazing. 😱
Huge!
Check out the endura all-terrain tires they got a really aggressive tread pattern to them and they're really grippy nice and soft they kind of look like the mud terrains but with a little more lugs on them
Wheels are fire 🔥 👌
Super new to this, and your videos are great, thanks for the info man! Hydrate man, see you on the next one.
Thanks for watching! I’m on the mend 👍🏻
looks great with the wheels
I’m really impressed you’ve come a long way since the earlier videos! The servo is very nice but I think the new tires n servo combo made a huge difference…
Thank you! It’s funny how cringy my first videos were when I look back at them. I’ve had so much fun growing the channel and evolving the video styles. It’s been great.
I have a set of those Grippers and they're Super sticky. Right now I'm torn between those and the Swamp Kings also a very grippy tire.
You can power the servo directly off the lipo if you make an adapter, only the signal wire needs to connect to the receiver
Hey Adam, it’s been a bit since I was on your channel and I’m watching about 3 weeks worth of videos. I’m so happy your going to reach 10k! You channel is growing so fast it’s amazing. Best wishes in the new year.
Thank you, I appreciate that! Happy new year!
Heck yeah looking sweet dude, Yep I’m here watching
Dude that looks amazing!!! Your wife did another killer paint job that’s awesome. Also cool that you and your wife read comments and she watches your videos. She should make a painting channel and name it chicken rc. Chicken and waffles 😂
Adam I just drove the trx4m in the snow and that thing is amazing in the snow that thing just really goes the traction is just amazing I mean this truck is just out of this world it is the best truck that tracks as ever made for rock crawling and going through tough terrain I took it through a tire run in the middle of the snow and Frozen it just went right through it with no problem
That’s awesome! Glad you like it!
I can’t wait to put some higher end parts on my Dead Bolt. I’m on Family Medical Leave so my money is limited for now, but the stock servo was useless, so I did get a Emax metal servo, and mount with a sexy horn. Works way better, now it turns both directions! Got some cheap brass hex extensions in the mail too. Looking foreward to trying it out with them in.
A little bit makes a big difference! Just keep picking away and it’ll be unstoppable before you know it!
@@CapeCrawlers No kidding! All I have done is relocating shocks, after cleaning and lubing them, making sure there were no binding or interference issues. Ended up with no springs and a front limiting “strap” hair tie. This thing is awesome.
Yes it did come out awesome, catch you on the next one
Thank you! It’s getting better and better!
Try running some small hair ties on the shocks. youll still get full flex but helps with sticky double barrels and helps with side hilling. Center mount limit straps help flipping forward and backward, but hold zero support when side hilling. Truck looks great man!
Good tips, thank you!
I'm building a back halved gen 3 single cab tacoma. I bought the deadbolt a few weeks back as the platform to build off of. My first crawler. I have some parts coming from injora and I am making a lot of custom parts myself, including the body and bed. I'm going for a capable and realistic looking rig. My daughter just got the gladiator and we will be building a 4 door full body tacoma. She wants more of a overlander type rig. We are having a lot of fun driving and building.
That sounds awesome! Even more awesome that you’re able to share it with your daughter. Have fun!
I have a Brass Servo Beast on hold....until I have the extra money to pick it up. That's thing looks sick and I'm a huge Brass Fan...Nick can attest to that lol
It's a monster!
Just ordered the Mofo servo...
One thing I did differently is by going with underdrive gears in my LGRC rear end.
I hope you feel better soon. Merryest of Christmas' and Happy New Year too 🥳
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you as well!
I got number 5, love this servo
You were early!
I’d like to see those Swamp kings on the flipped steelies. Very cool setup altogether!
I run that setup on my JLU and it’s killer!
Yes I'd like to see that as well!!!
Aw man it looks BEAUTIFUL LOVE IT
Thanks!! I’m super happy with it
Great build man! Looks totally awesome!
Thank you!
I really like the truck plus the gunmetal wheels look amazing
I do too. It’s a good combo. And thanks!
You should check out the surpass hobbies servo it's 17 g but it's still in a plastic body so you still get a nice lightweight to it I understand the brass is nice cuz they're heavy but they can be a little large even with the enjora servol mounts
Beautiful. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Thank you, and same to you!
The wheels are sick! The whole rig is sick!
Thank you! Love this thing.
I ordered a scx24 after watching your builds.
Thanks for the great content Adam!
Thanks for watching!
Sweet setup! You should do the Lizard Ultimate in it! Have you tried the FlySky GT5 yet? If not, you should do it and the micro receiver with the Lizard Ultimate!
The servo horn that came with this Servo Beast is the one that I was talking about in my other comment about MOFO selling them, so you could test it on the Reefs 179 before ordering if you would like!
The Swamp Kings look sweet! The wheels look also awesome, but I think you should switch them to another rig. I think Swamp Kings with the Injora Negative Offset SS1.0s would be awesome!
Hopefully you feel better soon sir!
Thank you! I have not tried the flysky but I should. I’ve heard great things about it. That would be an awesome combo with the lizard and then I could run the full 8.4v 💪🏻
@@CapeCrawlers Of course! Yes, you definitely should!
how does the overdrive gears help out? dont they make you go faster?
I couldnt get my stock ratio lgrp gears to work in my front lgrp billet housing.. i had to go with a treal overdrive to get it to work
Interesting! I was able to put aftermarket gears in another set of Super 8's but not these. Stock fit fine, as do the LGRP ones. Maybe just differences in specs from batches?
How did you mount the front of the body with the magnets. What did you gave to use to mount the magnets on.
Anyone know what magnetic body mount will fit the mofo ugly af chassis ?
Do you have issues with the mesh between the LGRP billet trans spur gear and the pinion on the Mofo Torquebeast?
I didnt think so initially, but I took this out for a run over the weekend and it was definitely suffering. Felt like something was binding. I wonder if that's exactly what it was?
I used the Torque beast 50 with a 11T Mod 3 pinion. When I went to mesh it with the LGRP all billet trans it seemed like there was too much wiggle room and I was worried I may strip the gears if my tires got caught in a tight spot.
What link combo do you have installed? Starting a new build and looking for some input.
I did gladiator links front and rear. I like it!
@@CapeCrawlers oh wow I didn’t think it looked that long! Thanks for the reply, you have a great channel and awesome content!
wow! looks so good.
Thank you!
I think some treal vintage titanium wheels would look killer on that rig
I’ll have to look those up!
i noticed recently that my front Y link rubs the yoke on the front drive shaft on my mofo ugly af v2 with jlu length links how much clearance is there on your build?
I ditched the y-link and did the four link front. I prefer that setup for clearance and better movement in the links
Build is looking sweet! Have you tried the Injora Super Sticky's on here off camera?
Recently I ordered me a knockoff HR LCG frame, Injora brass Gladiator links, 48mm shocks, steel driveshafts, transmission purple 50t motor and a "Hobby Fans" skid plate for my first ground up build. Was thinking about the Injora brass wheels with the Super Sticky's since they are ~$40. Throwing in a Radiolink R4FGM for communications. Just on the hunt for some axles, servo(s) and ESC at this point.
Thanks! I have not tried the new 64mm injoras on this particular build. Only because I’m really enjoying them on the trx4m! They may be worth a try because they’re such a great tire
just put those deep dish wheels and hyrax clone's on my ftx mini Texan, it looks awesome.
The big 64mm tires? They are awesome
Hey Adam, I can’t find the upgraded transmission for it because when I go to the link is says error and when I dig around the company website I can’t find it
Looks like they've discontinued it. Here is an alternative: amzn.to/3nd98pd
Upgrades are a win win, second set of sneakers were a hellava lot better , I think the wheels look awesome 👍 what about bigger hexes on the axles if you don't have them on already? I hope you feel better soon bro 👍 HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Thanks! I’ve just got stock length hexes so that’s a good idea. I may try some extended ones tonight. Merry Christmas!!
On the tires try tho new injora pins the smaller wider ones.
And bro if you tilt the front shocks more toward the middle of the chassis like a diagonal angle it will drop the front end and make it sit level jus sayin👍🏼 I like the wheels I have tbh they look good, ima a fan of the lgrp wheels 😂
I had the 55MM pins on here before and they worked amazing. I may put them back on because they performed so well. I’ll mess with the shock position. I don’t want to lay them back to far because I don’t want to get that crazy chassis lift on inclines. But I’ll play around with it 👍🏻
@@CapeCrawlers I can dig it. If you take out the double barrel part on the front that might help too. And yea bro I remember that you should definitely put the pin 55s on there
Great video new subscriber! 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for watching!
The paint is supposed to go on the car 😋
Get well soon
Not on my hands? 🤣
Moforc UPW’s in a +3mm or +6mm with the injora 64’s!!
This is the way
What chassis you running on this one
Got upgrades for my scx24 fot christmas :)
Awesome!! Enjoy!
I love those wheels but do feel the same about the color, they look black most of the time instead of gunmetal. I lost a few screws after my first run with them but that might be on me. It was a late night when I assembled them. Did you see LGRP has some 1/18 Capra parts now? I'm thinking of getting their brass portals
Yes! I have capra parts inbound! Can't wait to run them.
merry christmas my man! it's hard to deny how good those swamp kings are, they even look bad ass too. they are probably too big for TRX4M defender though you think?
Same to you! They’ll fit the defender pretty easily. I’ve seen folks running them on the bronco too but I haven’t tried them. I think if the bronco can clear the Injora 64mm it can clear the swamp kings
Do you ever check out any of the Mews racing parts
No, I’ve not seen their stuff. Are they good?
Adam, are you able to run Flex Blades on your front LGRP Portal axle? This LGRP Portal front axle I have isn't playing nicely with the Flex Blades that I have Grrrrrr...maybe you or one of the people in here has advice I'd greatly appreciate it.
I have not tried running flex blades on them. I can give it a shot to see if I have similar issues though. What are you running into for issues, shock binding?
If you get a chance check out the mews racing transmission it sits straight up and it gives you a bigger can there's also one where you can get a brushless motor conversion for it if you have the room it's really nice and super smooth they also make a plastic version that will accept a brushless motor has a little bit of flex to it but I like the aluminum one better if you get a chance to check it out you really like it
I’ll check that out, thanks!
Adam….. what’s up with your black finger? Where you hunting for hourgruoxs with Dumbldoor😂. JK…. Builds looking good. Always a pleasure watching your videos 👊😎
LOL I forgot to address the black finger 🤣 I was painting another build in between filming 😎
Just found this channel. I watched like 10 videos in the last week. Is there a coupon code for a main? At any rate keep the videos coming.
Thanks for watching! You can use dec0522, dec1022, or dec2022 to save some money on orders of $50, $100, or $200. My affiliate link is in the video description 👍🏻
Adam, grab yourself a NSDRC Micro BEC for $9.99 and send that thing to its full potential. Also be careful with such a demanding servo on stock esc I recently burned one up because it pulls to many amps.
I will do that! That’s another reason why I think a new esc may be needed. I know I’m going to be putting a lot of stress on that system
@@CapeCrawlers as long as your running a BEC for your servo you should be good. I have the V2 electronics on my comp build and all you have to do is plug the BEC I to channel 3 or 4 and your balance plug on the battery and you’re good.
What classified this a comp build? Might sound like a noob question but is it because you compete with it or is it a certain part that makes it a competition build?
I called it a comp build because it’s built specifically for performance. I had intended to do comps with it but never got around to it. There are specific criteria for different classes and I don’t know them well enough to say where exactly this one would fall
@@CapeCrawlers makes sense. Thank for the answer!
Just curious what is the total cost of this build as it is in the end of the video?
I’ll tally it all up. I’m almost afraid to do so 😅 I would guess around $600 at this point.
@@CapeCrawlers it's an awesome looking rig but dang at that price that's a 1/10 scale build
👍🏻👍🏻
Becouse the front shocks don't working on end bottom course?
Not exactly sure what you mean. The shocks worked good but my tires were rubbing on them pretty bad
Well I just picked up my new crawler trx4m
First and love ur videos brooooooo
Thanks for watching!!
Love it. Will follow you on your build. You are welcome to reach out and brainstorm if you have time. Be safe my friend..
I wonder if it's possible to turn the Gladiator into a comp rig? 🤔
I’m sure it is! For mine I would just have to narrow the track. It’s too wide to fit through any gates as it is!
@@CapeCrawlers That's true.
Scramblers
Hey Adam. Where did you get the no problem/problem sticker on the rear? I love that sticker
I got it on a sticker sheet from LGRP!
