Definitions are agreed upon by society, you can make up your own slang usage of terms, but that doesn't make them common definitions that are widely agreed on by society. Woke has a meaning, being aware of systematic injustice, if you can only recognize it when it happens to you or folks like you, you are clearly still asleep. If they can do horrible things to "them" (folks not like you) then they can easily do it to you too.
This is the agreed upon definition of woke in its most simplistic form, even a chud like you can grasp the concept.
What other alternative definition folks who clearly lack understanding of its common usage and only generally understand it through the nebulous way its often used in a pejorative sense, rather than a proper verb.
In Jake's case he clearly has a rough understanding of its actual meaning, touching on it using different language to paint the same picture.
I used to drive for lyft and uber. I've had both trustfund 20 somethings and rich people in the back of my little 2017 camry. I drove people wearing nice clothes to clubs I couldn't ever hope to afford to even enter.
I've also had ex-cons and addicts in the back of my car.
All while I was working to afford my half on an apartment, plus groceries, plus fuel, plus auto insurance, plus utilities.
Nothing will teach you quicker about the wage and class gap than being a taxi driver or a rideshare driver.
Forgive my sins but I used to watch videos in this circle when I was an edgy and dumb young adult. I realized it was a way of holding myself back in that living as my real self. Totally leftist and non-binary now. Gamergate did some real brain damage to me 😢 Been really proud of all the change and growth I've been able to do. What sucks is I was on the right path in my late teens and then it literally was gamergate some prominent journalist blocking me on Twitter for just asking genuinely what was happening because I didn't know. Gamergate probably cost me years of self-discovery and understanding of my love for advocacy and LBGT+ Ally-ship, but of course now I'm a little bit more than just an ally. Omnisexual too!

Sorry I know it's a bit off the full video's topic, but "ugly produce" isn't necessarily "dogshit". It's just visually unappealing crops that are graded lower quality simply because of how the bullshit food acquisition of corporations go. Places like McDonald's and Lays get the first pick of the high grade potato crop, then smaller businesses/stores get the remainders, and the "ugly produce" is usually sent for scrap or just tossed. There's nothing wrong with it save for blemishes or uneven growth. In full agreement on your position that basic produce should be wholly accessible to everybody, but just wanted to say that the small places that sell the unwanted produce aren't just giving out bad stuff.

24:35 Story time- I got a worker's permit in middle school and was rejected from jobs I applied to for years and years and years (still unemployed after graduating high school and my sister never counted very infrequent under the table work as a real job). And the hunk of concrete that is the "chip on my shoulder" from still being unemployed through college (my first, also very infrequent, work study program I had to beg for to have something on a dam resume) and being rejected for employment every summer and from fast food places and cashier jobs...Then there was thankfully some work study work when transferring to a 4-year college , which is why I tell anyone going into college that the custodial/facilities services work studies tend to be more available. But the last grades of my last year there plummetted at the sheer anxiety and fear that that resume and filling out so many applications would still yield no work just as it had before then. At the time I panicked that the stupid BA in journalism and communication, while it had been enjoyable, wouldn't bring any work (but I guess I wasn't devalued as hard as liberal arts degree holders..) That was nearly 10 years ago. I've sobbed in a Dept of Labor building filling out forms, I've had no reliable transportation only up until recently and had to walk or bus (when possible) to locations for work or filling out forms, I've only had positive interest from family when I have had employment (part time mostly when it something did finally happen, after several civil service exams and all that effort my sister thought I never did)...What message that leaves a person is your only value is when you have "job" because "job" is more important and without it no one should or will care. I hope my neices and nephews don't have to go through that and I'm also honestly not holding out hope that basic survival needs will be made universal in my lifetime - that while "unemployed" I will still be seen as lazy selfish entitled mooching all of that (my mom is nice but who could shake the feeling of being a disappointment? Not me.) It makes it sad when "oh what would you want to do more than anything" makes me answer that that isn't possible for me and while I've had hobbies I like those are never in comparison to "work or you will die" that has been especially plaguing since high school. There are those who have been through worse, I know, and those who are really struggling worse (as bad as I feel about it I am at my mom's paying what I had saved up before my last job had "jump before you're pushed" me, and there are those with no safe places to sleep or reliable food). The question of "if you could do anything" is buried under hundreds of never being contacted after applying to jobs and the many who at least contact me to let me know about the rejection. Sorry ya goofball "wokeism is so evil" crowd, but most of us have real problems outside yours.

When people say media literacy they are referring to a set of skills that allows oneself to parse what it is they are hearing and seeing. Most important of these skills is one known as "frame of mind". Another the ability to perceive deception which extends into not being able to comprehend sarcasms, cynicism, and parody. I'm sure there are some people that lob it around as an insult with no understanding of what it means, most likely yourself at some point but that doesn't mean it's just an empty buzzword.

I have seen numerous long form videos made people who are deemed conservative even if they aren't where they provide plenty of examples, plenty of evidence yet despite all that because they have an interpretation of media that is not left wing they will be accused of media illiteracy by left wing idiots in the comment section and on twitter. Human history has always been a battle between the haves and have-nots and then a “synthesis” is reached as humans progress to a new form of materialism. In the medieval times it was the landed elite vs the landless serfs, but when land ownership became more common and the Industrial Revolution changed how labor worked, history shifted forwards to the current bourgeoisie-proletariat conflict.

The word woke has lost all meaning. It’s part of why I stopped being a center right person. If woke can mean “Stalin did nothing wrong” and “hey, maybe we shouldn’t restrict the rights of women and the LGBTQ+” then the word is meaningless.

The problem with auntie woke conservatives is that no matter how much they try to post-hoc rationalise their bigotry with rhetoric dressed up like logic and science, it's still a post-hoc rationalisation. They still by default get their knickers in a twist when they see women and minorities in their media and video games, and their public rationale for why they feel that way is just a smoke screen. It has absolutely nothing to do with core deep-seated reason why feel that visceral reaction. So whenever one of these conservative right-wing reactionary types tries to shroud their bigotry in logic and pragmatism, you know for a fact they are being dishonest. Decided to look at the comments on the original video, kinda funny, mostly lame. Basically all shadowboxing. The conclusions that otaku draws from marx and socialism are so disconnected it is hard to describe. At first I was surprised to see him describe lefite ideas pretty ok, but he basically went from yeah 2+2=4 is ok and makes sense but 4+4= starting a race war. He would have been better off to not define the terms in the first place. I was hoping for more but it really does seem like all their arguments hinge on shadowboxing a false conclusion, I am unfortunately and usually left with a similar thought of "are they just dumb guys?".
But then the overwhelming disgust in their comments take hold and they just start farting out the weirdest concoction of edgy angst and bitter diatribes I've ever seen. Intersectionality is not complicated.
Say you're looking to move out from your parents. You need a job and an appartment.
You want to find a boss and a landlord that won't discriminate against you. Because you don't want to be fired or yelled at for no reason, and you'd feel safer if there wasn't out there someone who hates you who knows where you live and has a key to your home.
There is a pool of jobs and appartment in the city.
And there is a pool of -isms distributed among the bosses and landlords.
And you get a set of -isms that are working either in your favour or either against you.
The more -isms you got going on working against you, the more difficult it is to find both a job and an appartment where nobody hates you. The more the pool of interesting options shrinks for you.
This might make you take a job that pays less well, take an appartment that is more expensive, further away from work or interesting things. You might not have interesting safe options, so you might have to make sacrifices in terms of your job or housing quality or you make sacrifices to your safety. And the more people make sacrifices to their safety, the more hate crimes there are.
This is extremely concrete, profound life impacts.
While I agree that workers should earn more of the profits than they usually do, I always struggle when people say or imply there is no risk as an owner. Someone had to buy the tools that allow the workers to work, Someone has to do marketing, there is a risk of being sued, there is a risk of people getting hurt, there is a risk of failing, there are other areas of the business that are needed to operate that may not directly be a source of cash flow, etc. If all the profits go to the workers, then how do you reinvest to buy and upkeep equipment, etc.?
If I invest $500k to start-up a business, do I not deserve to be compensated for this? The workers wouldn't have a wage if I don't create the infrastructure for them to work.
For this, I think society should move more towards co-ops and employee owned businesses.

Yeah you aren't producing anything. You aren't doing labor. Without workers doing the actual labor that produces the actual thing of value, what you have is an empty building and a pile of useless tools.
Ignoring that you magically somehow magically have 500k that I'm sure wasn't obtained by also not doing and not producing anything and definitely wasn't obtained by extracting wealth from actual laborers and producers.
It is the transformative property of labor which generates 100% of the value of anything.
I don't think anyone denies that there's inherent risk involved in starting a business. It's a matter of how much that initial risk is actually worth relative to the work the employees do.
@@thenewapelles6448 a lot of these people also fail to understand that the consequences for the laborer are often much more severe than they are for the capital owner. The capital owner merely risks having to become part of the labor class in the worst case, whereas the laborer risks health, homelessness, poverty, etc.
