I was subbed to him for a long time, I never had looked at his other channels. I not only un-subbed, I posted multiple comments on a few of his vids telling him how disgusting I found his opinions were.
He lost a lot of subs because of his other channels and complained about it. I mainly watched his castle videos and subbed. Some sword videos. Watched his Wheel of Time videos because he was angry about the changes (as I was) and didn't say disgusting comments about women and sex or gender slurs which most of the anti-WoT channels did. But his views on women's roles started getting my attention. I ignored it at first because he would say things like you picked up - most men, most women at the time...I eventually unsubbed when I became aware of his views.
The whole "are you a good person" thing is something he pulled on Jack Saint. Shad did a response video and actually posed that question to Jack, which seems highly hypocritical given many of the things Shad has gone on record about when it comes to people who have different thoughts and opinions to himself on a variety of topics. Everyone from other sword youtubers, including actual fencers, archery youtubers, including actual instructors, metalwork, including actual blacksmiths... He's called any of them who disagreed with his views all sorts of things, which kind of implies Shad is not "a good person".

For science I've opened a random Shadiversity video from over a year ago and he wasn't wearing a ring back then either. I think wedding bands are just not a huge thing in mormonism, like I know they don't exchange rings during the ceremony. This is a persistent myth that many guys seem to not understand: men are stronger than women *on average.* If you take 1000 men and test their strength compared to 1000 women, the men will be stronger. But this tells you nothing about individual people's strength or athletic ability. If you take a female boxer or UFC fighter and put her up against a male boxer or UFC fighter, she's probably going to lose (I only say "probably" because even in competitions like these, improbable flukes do sometimes happen). But if you put a female boxer or UFC fighter against some guy with a sedentary office job and a typical American diet, who just moderately exercises to maintain or improve his health, then the woman who's a trained athlete at her physical peak is probably going to win. A random man on the street is probably not going to beat a trained athlete, regardless of how much more testosterone he has. It always kind of reminds me of that one South Park episode where Cartman signs up for the Special Olympics with zero training or preparation, assuming that since he's not ND/disabled he'll easily win. He then gets his ass kicked by the "special needs" people who showed up to compete after actually training and preparing, like athletes would. It doesn't surprise me that Shadiversity wouldn't understand this, though, because if you see people and the world through this essentialist lens ("this group of people is stronger than that group, or more talented than that group, or has higher IQ scores than that group, and there's nothing anyone can do to change that") then you don't understand things like physical strength, or talent/skill, or intellectual capacity/academic achievement, as traits that can be highly variable and open to influence on the individual level. All of these measures are things that can be improved with work, and you can receive different "scores" in them at different points in your life. They're not static, essential measures that stay the same your whole life.

But his views on women's roles started getting my attention. I ignored it at first because he would say things like you picked up - most men, most women at the time...I eventually unsubbed when I became aware of his views.
The whole "are you a good person" thing is something he pulled on Jack Saint. Shad did a response video and actually posed that question to Jack, which seems highly hypocritical given many of the things Shad has gone on record about when it comes to people who have different thoughts and opinions to himself on a variety of topics. Everyone from other sword youtubers, including actual fencers, archery youtubers, including actual instructors, metalwork, including actual blacksmiths... He's called any of them who disagreed with his views all sorts of things, which kind of implies Shad is not "a good person".

For science I've opened a random Shadiversity video from over a year ago and he wasn't wearing a ring back then either. The ideology he's talking about at the start comes from the traditional patriarchal perspective. So, it's referring to "value" in a warped sort of way. Not value as a person, but value as an object, as a commodity, and so on. They see women having inherent "value" as desirable objects, and men having to earn their "value" through productivity, etc. In other words, women are seen as assets to be protected, and the average man is seen as worthless beyond what he can provide. The men (and these days, women as well) in power except themselves from these "standards" by presenting themselves as the most "valuable" people in society, of course. They also present their positions as something that can possibly be obtained by the average man (or woman, these days). You know, this is all sounding a lot like a certain economic ideology, now that I type it all out...

This is a persistent myth that many guys seem to not understand: men are stronger than women *on average.* If you take 1000 men and test their strength compared to 1000 women, the men will be stronger.
But this tells you nothing about individual people's strength or athletic ability. If you take a female boxer or UFC fighter and put her up against a male boxer or UFC fighter, she's probably going to lose (I only say "probably" because even in competitions like these, improbable flukes do sometimes happen). But if you put a female boxer or UFC fighter against some guy with a sedentary office job and a typical American diet, who just moderately exercises to maintain or improve his health, then the woman who's a trained athlete at her physical peak is probably going to win. A random man on the street is probably not going to beat a trained athlete, regardless of how much more testosterone he has.
It always kind of reminds me of that one South Park episode where Cartman signs up for the Special Olympics with zero training or preparation, assuming that since he's not ND/disabled he'll easily win. He then gets his ass kicked by the "special needs" people who showed up to compete after actually training and preparing, like athletes would.
It doesn't surprise me that Shadiversity wouldn't understand this, though, because if you see people and the world through this essentialist lens ("this group of people is stronger than that group, or more talented than that group, or has higher IQ scores than that group, and there's nothing anyone can do to change that") then you don't understand things like physical strength, or talent/skill, or intellectual capacity/academic achievement, as traits that can be highly variable and open to influence on the individual level. All of these measures are things that can be improved with work, and you can receive different "scores" in them at different points in your life. They're not static, essential measures that stay the same your whole life.
