When I was handed the box, I was impressed by its weight, with 23 numbered bags full of parts and its manual of 484 pages. His assembly was very challenging, especially his arm. The risk of making mistakes is high in this set. Very rich in detail, his power function works very well (making sure that the gears do not rub each other) and the pneumatic system is great! It's very nice to play with this set! It had been a beautiful experience!!! :)
I started building this beast 4 days ago and I'm still going. Worth every cent and worth every second that you lay your hands and eyes on it. Best lego set ever
+dabooda49 Haha yeah it took me two days to finish building mine, but I didn't bother with the crane. I just extended the bed and made it a skipper lorry. How did the crane build go? Bet it wasn't much fun XD
+KrazyKrafter's Minecraft I saw that mining excavator 3900 piece set, and after looking at it i reckon this set is still much better, because it is so much more interesting and complex mechanically (with the gear box and pneumatics). That was just my thought when looking at it, we'll wait and see when it comes out though
@@liamshelley496 really well, nothing to complain about. I'm currently taking it apart and rebuilding it as it's B model again with all the lockdown free time, and everything still works the way it should
Thank you so much sariel for taking you time to review these models. I often times wait for your reviews to come out after other peoples to save myself the surprise. Thank you for your hard work and effort
This video was fantastically helpful. Not only was your walkthrough really entertaining but your photographic accounting of all the bags helped me greatly as I bought my set as an open box and was terrified that I'd have to count all the parts!
Fantastic review. I found that if you move the foot pad on the stabilizers up one hole, you get more ground clearance, and you can use more of the functional length on them. Keep up the great reviews. [I'm jealous you get these sets first. lol]
I built this one a few months ago. It's probably the most fun I've ever had building a set, and that's saying a lot. :) Definitely worth it, and packed with cool features!
This is a must have set. Thanks for the great review. You new video style works very well. It is crisp & clear. Yes The video will be longer in this new version, but you gvie better information in this way. Looking forward to the other set reviews.
Thanks to this review, I got myself one of the best technic sets in history and also the newest and most treasured possesion in my collection. Thanks Sariel!
It just finished this monster of a set that I got for Christmas! And boy it's an amazing piece of kit. Well done Lego you really blown my socks of with this humongous set!
been saving money since February for this set, at first i was dead set on getting the crawler crane, after reading all the different forums about this truck im set on buying it first. amazing reveiw sariel, youve put all the rumors and speculations to rest
"dumping - The favorite function of your ex" - haha. Nice review! I just stumbled on your videos after looking at the Volvo load and Arocs truck sets, and they are very informative with some good quips. Thanks for such great quality vids!
according to the instructions, the "feet" of the stabilizers are actually supposed to be attached one stud higher, which would increase the groundclearence a little bit
I just recently got back into LEGO Technic but when I am thinking about buying a new set I always visit your channel because here's every detail I need to know!
I think it's a great model to build. The pneumatics work better than on the Unimog. Only problem that annoyed me was the steering. Due to the blocker on the upside down (the connecter with the grey ring-thingie on the yellow bar, I couldn't steer as much to the right as I could to the left. So I simply removed it. Now it works perfectly. And I guess due to the size of the parts and the truck itself, there was no room for 4 rows on the front grille. 3 looks good enough. Thanks to you I found out my little problem with the steering control. The lights were actually working against each other. (one moving clock-wise had the other one moving counter clock-wise). Just needed to switch the position of a little gear and now it's fine. All in all it's worth its price, I even got it cheaper due to a sale. :D
1. That banana is, I think, a sign of things to come. 2. I've also asked this question over at Eurobricks: I so do want to use the thin cylinders for a 4-wide MOC, but I fear that the cylinder wouldn't work on their own, but then fitting a whole pneumatic system in 4-studs wide a space (I'm making a crane. Would they? 3. Whoa. Mr. Kossmann just topped his Unimog and topped it bigtime with this beast. 4. I think the red parts would make for (huge) pistol slide parts. 5. Good thing Spidey decided to join Mercedes. I heard their F1 team is on a roll these days. 6. Packed set, really. Packed almost to the brim with parts, functionality, and loads of hoses. 7. "Motorized function 3: Dumping. The favorite function of your ex..." yeah, you just won my heart over. Watch out, though: your hamsters may do just that to you! 8. How dare you not put five Richard Hammonds *sniff**sniff* in the dump? They could have used a cool ride. 9. I'm excited to see this with treads and the walker.
Bought it before 2 days. Great set - massive with realistic look and rich details. I like the functions. THe build was the most interesting I've experienced from all lego sets I've had. Some mistakes are possible if you are not careful or if you rush some figure. I had to reassemble once or twice because I've missed a pin or a gear. The arm is tricky because some of the pictures do not show clearly where to connect the cables - the blue ones especially. And the organization of the cables is a bit tricky in the base, near the controllers. The set looks much better in real life. Before I buy it I was like - hmmm good parts pool with some rare and useful parts , but not so good looks but I found it at a good price and decided to buy it. Great decisions. When I built it ive discovered that it looks pretty nice and realistic. I've been impressed with its weight too. When the cashier gave the box to me and I handle it I've almost dropped it on the ground. I've expected not more then 2 kilos , half empty box, but yeah it is 4-5 kilos 3/4 full box. I've decided to buy most of my sets because of Sariel's videos. Thank you man for the detailed and interesting reviews!
BrickitSAM Life got in the way. The project will be restarted. And we'll catch up in one video acompanied with instructions. Probably after i get my hands on this model. :)
nicjasno Will you show us tips for building realistic trucks? The E30 build show was very nice. I am hoping you would make videos on building trucks and other vehicles in the same style.
Great review. I will definitely be getting this once it is available. I have been waiting for this set for a while now. Plus I have all the other flagship truck, so I need this one.
33:40 its not relies on bucket's weight - just about tubing and its good set. You propably got squeezed black tube connected to small cylinder (as I got for others). It can be repaired :)
took me a day jsut to buid the crane but totaly worth the pain i had in my fingers :D (i got rong like 4 tubes that go underneith the crane :/ bad luck xD)
I still think this and the other sets from 2H 2015 are very deeply impressive and I did wonder how on earth future sets could come close, but the sets for 2H 2016 seem to blow them out of the water since they come across so much more sophisticated than the 2H 2015 sets. Obviously, it's a given the Bucket Wheel Excavator is one I'm looking forward to seeing you build and review (to be fair, everyone is really!), but the Claas Xerion 5000 Tractor and Porsche 911 are definite ones to watch out for too, the tractor especially since it's so heavily loaded with a wide range of functions.
thanks for the reply. the two red pins on the lower left and right are preventing the grey lift arms from connecting correctly. i built everything as it is in the book.
+Anthony Yovino Well, clearly you did not built everything as in the book because the red pins are not in the way at all. Also, these are 7 holes long grey liftarms, not 5 holes long. You built it wrong.
Awesome set, looks great overall. Needs some improvements in the suspension, because it's a bit high and ugly. But I can't wait to get it and work on !
How easy or difficult would you say this set is to motorize or alter? Removing the crane, and only having it as a dumpster, would it be a better set? Possible adding the pneumatics to the dumper, in a weird but strong fashion? And whilst the suspension doesn't fit exactly as in the plans for a trial truck, would it take long to rebuild this set into one? Would be amusing to watch that process.
Darius Lee It's a large set which already has a drivetrain, so motorizing it should be fairly easy. Rebuilding into a Trial Truck vehicle... well, you would need to change almost all, except perhaps the cabin.
Hey there, just finished building the 42043 and I noticed something you did wrong. The stabilizer feet need to be attached 1 stud higher so that the beam is the same level as the end of the foot. Pretty noticeable at 30:52. Although I doubt you still have this set assembled.
I don't know how much longer I can wait...I'm going to have to get 2 or 3 of them first week of august at legoland...I'm I'm going to buy this set should I bother with 42009?
I thought it was very easy to use the knobs to steer the truck when I got the set. Hardly any friction and no backlash for me, but then again, you got an early copy from Lego so maybe they improved the model slightly after that.
+Lauri Kotila I don't think they did any modifications to it, but if they did, my model would be one of them. Honestly, the steering is fine as long as you're not bumping the individual axles. The two axles can get way out of steering lock if you just push one of them, and I think that's what Sariel is referring to.
In case anyone is having issues with the crane's turntable not spinning: Is your crane not turning at all or is it turning only back to centre? If it turns back to centre, the problem might be caused by varying play between the turntable of the crane and the gear driving it. I experienced this issue myself and it appears solved when pushing the small black drivewheel as close as possible to the turntable and pinching the cage it runs in tight (no gaps).
+Max McTabish Yeah, pushing all the pipes on wasn't much fun, but it is definitely worth building
How's the set holding up today?
@@liamshelley496 really well, nothing to complain about. I'm currently taking it apart and rebuilding it as it's B model again with all the lockdown free time, and everything still works the way it should
"Dumping: The favorite function of your ex" ROFL :D

Sariel i thank you for being the coolest youtuber ever!
monkeymaster26 Thanks, hamster helps a lot ;)
The Hamster is The best Part in The Whole Video... Keep The Hamster Busy!!
lol
Thank you so much sariel for taking you time to review these models. I often times wait for your reviews to come out after other peoples to save myself the surprise. Thank you for your hard work and effort
Thomas Spurling Thanks. The 42042 review is coming this week, too.
This video was fantastically helpful. Not only was your walkthrough really entertaining but your photographic accounting of all the bags helped me greatly as I bought my set as an open box and was terrified that I'd have to count all the parts!
+ficklecycler Happy to help.

Happy to help!
Totally going to get this for birthday or Christmas! That's basically my entire TECHNIC collection, plus some new parts and pneumatics, in one box.
That's the most amazing model I ever saw, just beautiful
What a spectacular contraption. The mechanics and physics behind it is unreal.
This is so going on my xmas list!
Agree
+Redstoneprime316 Same
+Redstoneprime316 Its on mine already
Redstoneprime316 I got it for x-mas lol
It just finished this monster of a set that I got for Christmas! And boy it's an amazing piece of kit. Well done Lego you really blown my socks of with this humongous set!

Andrews LEGO World Thanks. I will be reviewing crane in a few days too, if you need an insight.
finally they have incorporated suspension into the more intricate builds. Great video.
The build of rear suspension and the crane was the most complected I have ever seen in Lego sets. This was however definitely a fan to build :)
You are the best at reviewing the product better than any RUclipsr I know
Watching this video for the fourth time now...
GAH!
I WANT ONE!
+KrazyKrafter's Minecraft Gonna buy it very very soon!
Tried to buy it two times this weekend already, at different stores.
I had issues with both...
+KrazyKrafter's Minecraft I have it!
(I almost finished building the crane)
I hope you will ever own one too!
KrazyKrafter's Minecraft That one is awesome too!
KrazyKrafter's Minecraft
I watched a video of it, and it's *BIG* and *awesome*!
This will bring me back to Lego Technic!
Great video. Very informative. This is the no. 1 thing on my Christmas list.
"dumping - The favorite function of your ex" - haha. Nice review! I just stumbled on your videos after looking at the Volvo load and Arocs truck sets, and they are very informative with some good quips. Thanks for such great quality vids!
God I love the music to these videos.
LOL, really? kinda makes for a peaceful vibe
i think the four valves on two sides look good, but it is hard to control them all at one time. and- you're the coolest youtuber ever
according to the instructions, the "feet" of the stabilizers are actually supposed to be attached one stud higher, which would increase the groundclearence a little bit
Holy crap ive been subbed to the channel for a very long time and i dont think ive ever seen 5 stars given!
Your videos are awesome! They have every detail that matters!
MyFrostee Thank you, doing my best :)

Nice to see it ! a bit longer (I have not watch the time building to not spoil myself) :)
Thanks for the review. I have just ordered this set after watching this video.
Amazing set, can't wait to buy it since I have seen it for the first time on pictures and videos. I dreamed of it few times
100% professional review, excellent hamster too!
I think it's a great model to build. The pneumatics work better than on the Unimog.

6 hours building time. Great model! I love it!! Nice videos! I'm just using SBrick anymore!
Just got it today and man is it a beast!!
Just built my arocs and watching the video I noticed I had the hoses to the extendable arm arranged incorrectly. Thank you for helping me realize this

I first thought, ex would be a weird word for dump bed, then I understood the joke^^
this is the absolutely cooooooooolest ever
It has been years but this week I’m buying one off of eBay in so excited it’s my dream set
Omg love the bloopers at the end, and the set is cool, but the bloopers man! Oh boy!
Owen Buckingham Glad they didn't go unnoticed ;)
Good review! Nicely done man! I don't like the way the 'collapse' when the hydro function turned off, but it is still a good set to have.
I love this review and you and your hamsters sense of humour!
Thank you for this very useful review.
Can't wait to get my hands on this and make an improved chasis! :)
nicjasno Me To!...............When is the next build video?? You quit after 12 ;-(
BrickitSAM Life got in the way. The project will be restarted. And we'll catch up in one video acompanied with instructions. Probably after i get my hands on this model. :)

Nice work! Very comprehensive video!
Thanks for this. Cant wait ti get mine over the coming weeks.

Banana for scale ... Love it 👍🏼 🤣
This is an amazing set. I must buy this!!!!
annnndd now I need this set, damn Sariel, I don't have any money!
Guss De Blöd But you have two kidneys ;)
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den
But I like my kidneys!
Guss De Blöd I'm sure you like one better than the other ;)
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den And I'm starting to think that I like the technic set better than both of these anyway XD
Guss De Blöd I don't have the money either, but at least you're breathing!
Thanks for this :) got bought one for my 40th and looking forward to the build; extra caution when it comes to the tubes
took me a day jsut to buid the crane but totaly worth the pain i had in my fingers :D (i got rong like 4 tubes that go underneith the crane :/ bad luck xD)
How funny...I also missed out an entire gear (very small dark grey) which meant I only had one half of the functions working.
As always, a fantastic review!

it will be hard for any LEGO set ever to be better than this one... most likely the best ever made
Ever made yet.
awesome video. you must be a pro!
Nice big set, looking forward, that I may build it! :)
Thanks for nice review! What are your impressions about 1x1 long cylinder strength?
Desert Eagle LEGO Technic Creations It's much stronger than I though! I will publish a detailed test this week.
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den Thanks!
@Sariel's LEGO® Workshop what do you do on page 234. i dont get it.
I thought it was Mercedes-Benz Actros 3245? Thanks for the very good review!!
I only watch these reviews to see the cute hamster! ^^
Very cool review!
About time they brought Pneumatics back, the motorised systems just dont compare for a lot of tasks like hiabs and lifts.
Great review, thanks!
Wspaniały zestaw. Dziękuję, za świetną recenzję. Na pewno kupię zaraz po premierze :) CUDO!
excellent review!
this is beautiful, I want it.
Wow so amazing video i realy want dat set
The new MB Actros has a very high cabin.
nice model ! nice review !
thanks for the reply. the two red pins on the lower left and right are preventing the grey lift arms from connecting correctly. i built everything as it is in the book.
+Anthony Yovino Well, clearly you did not built everything as in the book because the red pins are not in the way at all. Also, these are 7 holes long grey liftarms, not 5 holes long. You built it wrong.
very cool model.

It's been a while since its release, but I just ordered this set ;D
This was my first LEGO technic set my latest were the Porsche and the Bucket weel excavator
This is so HUGE !!!
Konrad Cygan That's what she said ;)
This is AWESOME

+Patryk Gontasz No wybornie. Szczególnie mocno maskuję się trzymaniem strony na domenie .pl
I don't know how much longer I can wait...I'm going to have to get 2 or 3 of them first week of august at legoland...I'm I'm going to buy this set should I bother with 42009?
Nice review!
The Hamster has surely something to do with that... ;)
6:23 great for an RC 4x4 turning rack.
I thought it was very easy to use the knobs to steer the truck when I got the set. Hardly any friction and no backlash for me, but then again, you got an early copy from Lego so maybe they improved the model slightly after that.

Screaming like a little girl right now! SO AWESOME
