Darth Vader Anything with tracks is better than without! :^) Even high-tech farming equipment with tracks has the best performance. For example, the best tractors have four tracks like the set and combines have two front tracks! I am a big fan of tracked vehicles, so of course I really like 42069.
27:13 that is an intake that is irl supposed to stick out from a hole in the hood but for some reason is under it. If it is under the hood, then a normal air filter would do. I would of couse choose some JDM honeycomb. As soon as i can, i am going to work in Lego as an engine supervisor.
Why does it seem like half of Technic's flagships are flunks, and half of them are good, but then the next-largest set is the opposite of the flagship? Great review by the way. I always enjoy your videos.
This years flagship i think was an experiment for lego. They wanted to attract a young audience (vivid colours, RC big vehicle and tires, lots of parts) and the older audience (big wheels, rare parts, modifiable, power functions). Instead they got the opposite reaction. It's too expensive for younger people and too boring for older people.
I am absolutely amazed at the level of detail on this set, Even the bucket seats got a premium treatment, including nicely shaped headrests. It goes to show that "motorized" sets aren't always the best sets, considering most of my collection sits on the shelf with the batteries removed!
Those rubber pegs for the belt was first used in #70317 Nexo Knight The Fortrex in the beginning of 2016. They works very good on smooth surfaces. I may have to order a few of them on the next LUGBULK if they are available there :) I also have the older red double version (part 14149), but they are a bit higher and works better for rough terrains like stairs, carpets, cats, hamsters... :)
27:15 It's not a turbo, but a blower (usually used with a supercharger). Only critique of the video ;) Great video of a great set, this is definitely something I'll be considering buying :)
wasnt sold on the design at first but as soon as i saw those doors opening it looked amazing, then everything else started looking better and better each new function
"If you don't mind the dark purple pieces" WHAT the dark purple pieces are what make this set sooooo good. I will definitely be making a purple super car with this set to display with the porsche. Ive been dying for those mudguards in a new colour, and purple... best choice (although red would be great too)
Thank you Sariel, as usual your reviews are incredible. The fact that you put in a part about exchanging the tracks for rims/tires made my decision to get this set. I do like the wheels much better, and going thru my wheels/tires box last night I found the combo I thought would work best and it was the same as you thought looked best. Now I can say I have all off-road Technic models. The purple/black is rather growing on me.
Another incredible LEGO set review. Your little buddy really takes it to the level. I noticed this time he got to hang out during the build. Give that hamster a raise already!
I'm going to get this set just for the fenders, going to try and make a widebody 1970 Hemi Cuda out of it, obviously will need tires though, I do have the parts to build Ken Block's tracked Subaru so i can use the tracks for that I guess
You could stick the antenna through the bottom of the blue pins and it would stick better. You could also take lego hubs and but them where the mini turntables are without much difficulty.
I love this set. It is so quirky and different with its strange theme and colours much better than a boring yellow excavator. How well do the Claas wheels fit on the tracks and what are the eight languages?
I tried the wheel mod in this video, the rear wheels worked good, but the front wheels needed reinforcement in their axles, otherwise, the front wheels could easily fall out. It was also faster than tracks aswell.
@Sariel I think the 42070 set isn´t soooo bad then you think. Well, it is a bit expensive, but look at 28:37 , the 42030 Set had almost the same pieces and Remote control, and it costs almost the same!
Have it. Love it. I finished it yesterday. I ain't very precise with the stickers, but at distance they look perfect. Is a bit hard to steer with it's sheer weight. The tracks work well, but requires some effort to move forward (normal for track threaded vehicles). All in all, I love this model. Best I ever had.
I’ve never built a technic set before and I really want to get this one, besides the non numbered bags, are the instructions hard to follow? Because they look really hard :/
Probably the best Lego Technic set i ve seen the last 10 years or at least in top 5. You did a good review that shows well the features of the model. Only the speed build is not so great because the camera is too far away from the bricks.
Wczoraj otrzymałem ten zestaw. Jeszcze go nie skladalem ale podczas otwierania pudełka zauwazylem iż nadkola sa u mnie luzem a nie zapakowane. Dzis policze ile paczek zawiera zestaw.
Great review! I cant wait to get this set and build modified version of B-Model. Not that the main model isnt cool I just like look of B. I can already see myself buying at least 2 of these in the future.
replace engine with motor, fill compartment with battery box. Motor for steering is up to you but im sure there is enough room for that too. Worst case scenario you can replace one of the seats.
Bruh, I got this as a Christmas present in 2019, but unfortunately I didn't finish it and put it in the box for 2 years. I sorted parts in different packets, and actually took them to a few places, and I've lost some parts and a sticker sheet. I finished it just today, but I still can't find stickers.
I wonder what was the logic behind decision to patent numbered bags (thus preventing others from using it) and then not use it anyway. Did someone at LEGO went insane?
19:50
Mate these arent "folding sides"
Its a roof tent
Oh, nice to know, thanks!
Who would love to drive that irl?
Darth Vader Anything with tracks is better than without! :^) Even high-tech farming equipment with tracks has the best performance. For example, the best tractors have four tracks like the set and combines have two front tracks! I am a big fan of tracked vehicles, so of course I really like 42069.
Skiing Biology God case II fourtrac :D
Me, of course!
Tracks wear out fast and require maintenance. They are also often hard to turn and can't go as fast as tires.
12171010011010 however their intended purpose is for snow, sand or mud, all places where tires preform significantly worse than tracks.
This is my favourite Technic set so far...
this is the holy set number,
that is until 69420
but still *we thank god for this sacred lego set*
Set number: 42069...
Christian Brooks 420 - 69
Christian Brooks …
I think 420 - 69 = 351. You're welcome.
I don't get it...
Myster Mystry Yes
Nice set number...
And i also took the time to look through the videos to find this set number
this begs for motorization
yeah, with lego rc motors it would be quite coo
with xerion (or RC model tire) wheels
Formulka I would add powerfunction and wheels because they look a bit better
It probably wouldn't be hard to motorize if you are willing to get rid of things
Formulka I agree
1 add PF
2 remove diffs, tracks
3 mount portal hubs with wheels
4 participate in trial truck contests
5 win
27:11 That's not a turbocharger, my profile pic is a turbo
I was hoping I wasn't the only one that noticed that
kaposvári bando Its a supercharger.
Yep, it's a blower. :/
Issa supercharger
Joseph Groholske yes like you said its a blower but without a supercharger
27:13 that is an intake that is irl supposed to stick out from a hole in the hood but for some reason is under it. If it is under the hood, then a normal air filter would do. I would of couse choose some JDM honeycomb. As soon as i can, i am going to work in Lego as an engine supervisor.
i fell like this model has gotten the best rating in a while, if not ever :D
MrHuggaga i think the only one that got better ratings is the heavy lift helicopter. however i am not sure
Thats because the set number is 42069
Oh boy you do not know why didn’t you
More and cooler functions than I had expected. This model is growing on me. Thanks for the high quality video.
Why does it seem like half of Technic's flagships are flunks, and half of them are good, but then the next-largest set is the opposite of the flagship?

Yeah.... I agree. You're the hammer that hit the head on the nail!
Man, I was hoping so much you locked your hamster in the cargo compartment just to see how he reacts... xD
I was too afraid.
I don't blame you, especially when their eyes get red...
I am absolutely amazed at the level of detail on this set, Even the bucket seats got a premium treatment, including nicely shaped headrests. It goes to show that "motorized" sets aren't always the best sets, considering most of my collection sits on the shelf with the batteries removed!
18:16 This is the first lego vehicle that is not motorised and its tracks dont suck..
HE PUT THE HAMSTER IN IT
hamster went ther himself
got ya! Spelling error "youcan" at 28:12.
really nice review, containing every thing we need to know about this set. I love your channel and creations, they're awesome!!!
Those rubber pegs for the belt was first used in #70317 Nexo Knight The Fortrex in the beginning of 2016. They works very good on smooth surfaces. I may have to order a few of them on the next LUGBULK if they are available there :)

F0NIX i've seen that these pegs will be available on new Lego Boost set (an easier Mindstorms with more regular bricks and less technic)
27:15 It's not a turbo, but a blower (usually used with a supercharger).
Only critique of the video ;) Great video of a great set, this is definitely something I'll be considering buying :)
do you know just how many blue lego sets there are? TOO MANY
Blowers usually connect to either a hemi or a supercharger
The hamster is adorable!
Kids when they see the lego technic 42069: omg thats so cool
Me when i see the lego technic 42069: nice
Tom van Deijken ah I see you are a man of culture as well
wasnt sold on the design at first but as soon as i saw those doors opening it looked amazing, then everything else started looking better and better each new function
This is way cooler than I thought it would be, great job to the design team on this one. 42068 still intrigues me, can't wait for that review
"If you don't mind the dark purple pieces" WHAT the dark purple pieces are what make this set sooooo good. I will definitely be making a purple super car with this set to display with the porsche. Ive been dying for those mudguards in a new colour, and purple... best choice (although red would be great too)
I love it. Reminds me of lego 8297 (extreme offroader my first tehnic set)
one of my first too. It was cool how you could change the suspension.
Another incredible LEGO set review. Your little buddy really takes it to the level. I noticed this time he got to hang out during the build. Give that hamster a raise already!
I feel that if they get another raise then they will have the hamster-power to take over the world!
I'm going to get this set just for the fenders, going to try and make a widebody 1970 Hemi Cuda out of it, obviously will need tires though, I do have the parts to build Ken Block's tracked Subaru so i can use the tracks for that I guess
the stickers look messy but when it attached to bricks and
build together it gets coooooool
You could stick the antenna through the bottom of the blue pins and it would stick better. You could also take lego hubs and but them where the mini turntables are without much difficulty.
THIS should have been the flagship set tbh its way better with awd ,suspension, new rope more functions and better looks
Your hamster there has quite a sense of humor
im a simple man. i see hamster. i like the video.
I’m really enjoying these new Technic Super-Sets
I love this set. It is so quirky and different with its strange theme and colours much better than a boring yellow excavator. How well do the Claas wheels fit on the tracks and what are the eight languages?
I tried the wheel mod in this video, the rear wheels worked good, but the front wheels needed reinforcement in their axles, otherwise, the front wheels could easily fall out. It was also faster than tracks aswell.

Actually, the 42030 had TWICE as many Power Functions parts (motors etc.) as 42070 does. So yeah, 42070 is pretty bad.
Hmm...
You are right about that. But I still find that the set is not as bad as you end up with the stars.
bravo to the designer(s) of this set. Great review.
Have it. Love it. I finished it yesterday. I ain't very precise with the stickers, but at distance they look perfect.
Is a bit hard to steer with it's sheer weight. The tracks work well, but requires some effort to move forward (normal for track threaded vehicles).
All in all, I love this model. Best I ever had.
25:10 A wild cute hamster appeared
The black wheel from 3:55 is not a piece in a new collor right? I have these laying around for some time
I like how this set has around 1000 more parts than the off road truck (42070 I think) but is way cheaper lol
Correction, 500 pieces more.
ItsKrazy And has great functions which you can eaily motorize. Live axle suspension with 4x4, winch, v8 engine model. What else would you ask for.
CG Cacho how would I do that please
tbh i hate technic wenches. Every second technic vehicle has one and it is so frustrating to tie and untie them every time you want to use one.
Hey Krazy, I didn't think I would find you here XD
When you are too rich and decide to spend more money to turn your SUV into a Caterpillar SUV because having wheels is too mainstream
Sodor Studios & Co. Ken Block did this to a Subaru and a Ford Raptor
Yay the hamster is back!
YAAAAAY
I think I'll start looking around for this set
for the doors, i can find a gm prototype with bottom folding doors, but both ways? looks gnarly.
Another great video and set! Haven't purchased a Technic set for a while... might do now!
We all came for the 42069 and you know it.
I’ve never built a technic set before and I really want to get this one, besides the non numbered bags, are the instructions hard to follow? Because they look really hard :/
They're not. But you may want to try something smaller for your first set.
That's not a turbocharger, it's an air intake.
Amazing review as always though! Nice set as well!
*Supercharger
Sorry, it bugged me.
S. Sq. exactly
Wrong
honestly one, if not the best upcoming set
I would wing it and say it's the best.
.
i can't wait to get this to motorize this cool set
Great review and video, I actually wasn't too interested in this set until now!!! I'll be sure to pick one up now.
getting it as soon as i find one. 549 pln is a good price for all the fun!
This set is freaking AMAZING
String was used in the City Flatbed Truck
I have black wedge belt wheels from the blue tow truck with all the odd colours.
42069 nice
But the question is: Can you put power functions into it?
G1 Smokescreen I think if gut the back it should be quite easy
This begs for wheels and motor. I think I'm gonna get this one, as seems a nice material for further experiments. Thanks for the review!
Motorize it!
YES!
I actually plan on doing it myself when I get the set, although I won't be making a cool Sariel-like video about it.
EpicDestroyer 667 I did it already. Video is online in a few hours
This is my favorite set from the new ones of August
How are the colours both a pro and a con?
This is an overall good set. Just wished it came with tires and power Functions. One quick question; how to tie the winch string on winch?
With a knot, as shown in the instructions.
I like it with the wheels you found better. As most, I agree that it need to be motorized.
Hey Sariel, Are the tires from 42029 better on this or are the tires from 9398 better ?
No idea, I haven't tried them, sorry.
Probably the best Lego Technic set i ve seen the last 10 years or at least in top 5.
You did a good review that shows well the features of the model. Only the speed build is not so great because the camera is too far away from the bricks.
Nice video, keep up the good work!
I can't get enough of that hamster! 🐹💕
Nice
The pulley piece isn't new in black, I am fairly sure it has been used before.
True, my bad.
Wow, This set is amazing! I didn't think that it has so many functions.
the only ones i care about are the doors
Doors are very awesome.
Excellent and fair review, as always, thanks.
"Wedge belt wheel in black" Dont we have those for ages now or did they make a new version of it with minor changes?
What are those CV receivers in the diff housing? I wish they'd made them in 2009.
I wish I had the patience for Lego, but great work man!
I have set 42066 and 42043 on the way.. this set is next :)
Its a supercharger on the top, turbochargers are at the exhaust
This set looks really nice!
I dont like the actual 42055 set, but in Amazon and JL its always sold for £129 ($168) making it 4.3cents/piece. That's not too bad
nice
Looks like it's based off the tucker sno-cat vehicles.
the tracks look cool and i like them
25:59 and syringe doesn't seem to do anyth.... ROFLOL.
Wczoraj otrzymałem ten zestaw. Jeszcze go nie skladalem ale podczas otwierania pudełka zauwazylem iż nadkola sa u mnie luzem a nie zapakowane. Dzis policze ile paczek zawiera zestaw.
I wish I could get this; I saw it was heavily reduced at £75 and has of course been sold out.
Great review! I cant wait to get this set and build modified version of B-Model. Not that the main model isnt cool I just like look of B. I can already see myself buying at least 2 of these in the future.
Are you going to review the b-modells of the new summer 2017 sets ?
Sure.
The wheels look much better, maybe Lego opted for tracks because with wheels it looks similar - to me anyway- to the all terrain tow truck
a great review, 1 question; How easy is it to motorized?
It seems easy, but... It might take a while, considering there is no, "official" way to motorize it.
replace engine with motor, fill compartment with battery box.
I still think the Pick-Up Truck was the best non-power function offroad technic vehicle. Pretty darn functional with roaring hamsters on it.
i like that mouse
i swear i searched "iphone 42069" and this popped up
Are you able to do a how 2, including what parts would be needed to mod for the wheels?
I'm sure somebody else has done it by now.
42038 b model and 42069, which one is better ? Or which one is high cost-performance ratio ?
I wonder what was the logic behind decision to patent numbered bags (thus preventing others from using it) and then not use it anyway. Did someone at LEGO went insane?
Guess they were like "nah, it's only almost 2,400 pieces, no reason to bother with numbering the bags" ;)
