Wow, great information! I've been wearing domes for 10+ years. It's all I know so far. But in a few days I'll be getting a new set of hearing aids with custom molds. Thank goodness I changed audiologists because my previous one never mentioned custom mold option for me even though my hearing loss is in the severe range.

I prefer custom molds over the ICE aids that not have molds as they simply do not stay put. Th aids with custom molds stay put and don't budge and ensures all audio goes into the ear. Keep up the good work for your videos, I like them!

Hi Emily 💖 as always very valid points! I have tried domes as you can get them cheap off of eBay! But what you failed to mention was that domes are not much good for severe to profound loss! Plus because of my profound loss I get the thickest tubing I can get so more sound travels to my ears! You could have the most powerful BTE hearing aids on the market but if the tubing is thin you still won't hear much & get the dreaded feedback! We are lucky here in the UK our earmoulds are free! I don't like the solid earmoulds as they hurt my ears! But as you can see from my profile picture I have soft silicone earmoulds! I now want my earmoulds to be seen!
I was sick of hiding the fact I am deaf! And not wearing hearing aids!
You have shown that it's still possible to wear hearing aids all day & every day & still look attractive! How does your husband manage with you being deaf,If say your hearing aids are out or heaven forbid broken! He has to find ways of getting your attention! Especially once lights are out! Quite often deaf people marry another deaf person as they grew up together in the deaf community!
You can't put a price on being able to hear! If I had to pay I would! I hate the silent world once the hearing aids are out! & A pet hate is non deaf people think I am backward for want of a better world because I am deaf! My brain works not my ears!
In America it seems the hearing aid people are after your money! Whereas in the UK hearing aids are free & get adjusted until they are right!
So my answer is solid earmoulds all the time but if your aids bust you take whatever you can get!
Today just so I could hear something I used 40 yr old body worn hearing aids with the box & wires! I hope this comment helps 💖💖💖

For many years, I had a moderate to severe hearing loss, for which I had hearing aids with double domes. The domes were so bad. I tried a silicon ear mold, but I ended up pressuring a hard ear mold. In 2019, I had meningitis and I am now prfoundly deaf, and I found that hearing aids are next to usless for me. I was forced to get HA quickly. I failed the hearing test for a job. I got a tentative contract conditional upon passing hearing test. I had a friend give me 12yo pediatric Phonak sky & I had to get custom molds made for those. 6 months later I just ordered Resound Nexia and will use domes temporarily until I get molds cuz I LOVE them! In Indiana, it will cost $90/ear for my molds, my first ones cost $200. I have never been a fan of earbuds and always struggle even changing sizes. I also have been told that with my type of loss, (severely sloping HF loss), custom molds would be best for me.

I will be getting custom molds soon for my Starkey Genesis AI 24 RIC's I am wearing them with the single closed domes right now and they sound decent. I liked the double domes even better for sound quality and zero feedback, but they were putting a noticeable amount of pressure on my ear canals after a couple of hours. For both comfort and sound quality I think customs will provide the best of both. I'm considering "skeleton" or hollowed-out full-shell silicone earmolds with an extra long canal portion and maybe a very small vent port to reduce some of the occlusion effect, since these will likely seal way better than any domes I've used thus far.
