    Which style of hearing aids do you wear?
    1. OTC
    2. Receiver in canal
    3. Custom
    4. Behind the ear
    5. No hearing aids yet...
    Let me know, Matthew

    Mathew I am a costco customer. The first ones I bought was the KS10s. And thank goodness for the 6 month trial. Because I was having troubles with those. It started in my 4th month. Then the Jabra 10s came out and my H.I.S changed me to those. And I have enjoyed them. The are very good. So if it was not for the 6 month trial I would have still had a lot of troubles with the ks10s.

    • @HearingTracker

      Hmmmmmmmmmm it’s more of an exchange period than a 6 month trial then. Thanks for sharing Samuel. Matthew 😊

      Kind of. If I had decided not to continue with costco. The would have gave a full refund. But in my experience with costco hearing. They do really try to correct any problems. And another plus to the is all supplies are furnished dome and traps as long as you own the hearing aids purchased.

    • @pikeviewer7002
      @pikeviewer7002 6 месяцев назад +2

      The KS10s are a special case. Costco dropped them because of many failures. Mine took 2 years to show up. Costco sent mine back to the manufacturer for repair. I now have them back and they work well. Costco really stands by what they sell.

    • @samuelcabrera6289

      @pikeviewer7002 they are a special case but they had only been out for 1 month. When I got my set that had to be replaced.

      Love Matthew's videos, but disagree with him regarding Costco's 6-month trial. Yes, Matthew, an audiologist should customize the HA in a shorter period of time. However, Costco does not generally offer an audiologist (except Canada) and sufficient "customizing time". In my experience, we Costco patrons are left to our own ignorance and inexperience through trial and error to determine the best settings. This is especially true for new hearing aid patients. Therefore, the 6-month trial is a critical and necessary benefit when purchasing hearing aids.
      Also, as Samuel points out, your remark about replacement is a bit inaccurate, as the customer may receive either a replacement, a full refund, or an upgrade during the trial period. @@HearingTracker

    I had the older model and traded in for the 20s and they’re definitely a step up not only in size as they are smaller but in battery life and functionality as a hearing aid.
    I would like to tune them up myself as the Costco nearest to me is 2 1/2 hours drive to Sevilla Spain from my beach house by Atlantic and Portugal.

    I’ve used the Jabra EP20 for about three months now. The technology is amazing. The price at Costco was very good. Both aids for $1300 Canadian. I’m using both the new tv steamer + and the multi mic. Both work great. Streaming from my iPhone works well. Both telephone calls and streaming music or podcasts. Great video. I am a first-time hearing aid user with the EP20s with a Galaxy S23 Ultra phone since January 2024. I had to send them back for a replacement after working with second tier support over blue tooth connectivity issues. The new pair exhibits slightly different connectivity issues (primarily with the left ear, but it is still enough of a reliability problem to render them unusable with my phone or a streaming device. I get enough different comments from other users and even Jabra support personnel, that I believe they know they haven't nailed down the root causes of the problem and that there are a good number of compatible S23 and S24 phones that are having similar issues. The last support person was blaming the small size and hence the small Bluetooth antenna (probably not true). I will be calling support again in the next few days to see if there are any updates on the problem and to request a replacement set. If they can't get the issue resolved, I may be using that 6-month warranty. Otherwise, they appear to be a great value.

      @@HearingTracker I have not been overly satisfied with the adjustments they make. they can't seem to get it right. They were fine for the first few months I had them, but the left one started to "act up." It would not amplify sound, but the bluetooth feature would work. So they sent me another pair. A refurbished pair. I wasn't thrilled to not get a new pair. They never worked as good as the first pair did in the beginning. The left one is not amplifying as well as the old one did. If I take them to a local audiologist, according to Jabra, they can no longer be adjusted through Jabra. I paid for them to be able to be adjusted at no extra charge. If I take them to be adjusted locally, it will most certainly come at a cost. I think Costco will be my next place I use. Not sure if that is the best way to go though.

Not to bad if I have it set too filter sounds. Yesterday Costco blamed it on not using a dryer even though it started on day one and it wasn’t raining. I was going to try custom ear molds but I don’t think this Costco really wants to spend time or effort to improve the experience.

      Had the same problem with my $5000 Phonaks on the right ear. My hearing provider tested and could find nothing wrong so she had me hold the right hearing aid to my left ear - it sounded perfect (no static). She referred me to an ENT (ear doctor) who took sent me for an MRI which showed nothing abnormal physically. He did think I will eventually need implants but not yet. I was bummed but relieved because now I knew it was not the aid but something weird with the ear itself. Problem not solved but now I check the aid in the opposite ear for confirmation. I’ve learned to ignore the static. Could be some form of tinnitus I guess

    I'm currently on my 3rd pair of Jabra EP20s within the first year of purchasing from Costco. My first two pairs worked great for a few months and then the microphone sensitivity degraded to the point that I could hear as well with them in or out (i.e. not well.) If this pair go the same way I'll be switching to different hearing aids.
    When working they are great and the Bluetooth streaming works well with good audio quality. The double-tap for call answering works fairly well, but isn’t consistent. It would be nice if the double-tap would pause/restart streaming as my old Phonaks would do.

    I have been wearing the Jabra Enhanced Pro 20's for about two months. While all the features and the app are pretty good, the sound quality during audio streaming and phone calls is significantly worse than my KS-9s. They initially sounded tinny as my AM radio earphone from the 1950's. The Costco technician increased the bass, which helped some, however the distortion is terrible, both before and after the bass was adjusted. I was looking forward to the LE audio and Auracast, but the benefit of this is lost if the audio streaming sounds as poor as these do. I have closed dome tips due to my hearing loss, which I would think would actually help them sound better. They are connected to my iPhone 15 Pro. The odd thing is they sound great if you are listening to music or podcasts directly and not through the hearing aids. You also have to have the tech specifically add a program with the correct options to get the variable front focus setting in the app to work correctly. I'm going to have to look at other options, these are not good sounding hearing aids, even though they have great features.

      I too just got the latest Jabras and have been very disappointed in the streaming quality over the KS9’s. I was looking forward to the latest technology and thought the streaming quality would have been improved. manufacturer’s are more focused on speech understanding which the dB and frequency range aren’t wide enough to allow for quality streaming of music. Also disappointing is listening to phone conversation. Have to turn volume way up. The mic is however, much better than the KS9’s. Still testing them, but streaming music is important to me and I can’t get over the low quality tinny am radio sound as well.

    I just purchased the Jabra Enhance Pro 20. I generally like them but they need to be adjusted a little. My appointment is tomorrow so we'll see if there is an improvement. I was previously using the Kirkland 9 series.

    Do you know if Costco Canada sells the Jabbra's? and if they also sell a Auracast device to case to a headphone or hearing aid that you can connect to your TV or Stereo at home?

    What advantage does Resound Nexia 9 have over these Jabra Pro 20 hearing aids. Same company, big price difference. I'm wondering if I should have gone to Costco ;-)

    I am so confused. I am looking at Costco Jabra and the Phonak audio lumity l90 from an online retailer. I have severe hearing loss and the Phillips I bought 3 years ago never quite cut it for me. From what i am reading the Jabra 20 wont give me what i want. Is that true? Would i do better with Phonak? Thanks

    Phillips behind the ear rechargeable. Had the battery type, tiny batteries are a pain. Rechargeable is fantastic. In the charger at bedtime and back in my ear in the morning. More then a full day of used with this charging arrangement. Phillips has been great so far, I'm on the 4th set, make sure your costco provides loaners. As a medical first responder I don't have the luxury of being with out the.

    I have the new Pro 20's and the directionality/beam forming/steering sucks. Creates muffled hearing in situations with some noise. 2 adjustments and still sucks. And my old aids are Resound One's and do way better in All Around than these, and they are 3 years old. I am using the Outdoor program because i cant stand the constantly shifting sounds and muffled comprehension when its "steering sounds". These are going back...

    I have been wearing the Jabra hearing aids for two weeks now. I had the Phillips, Which I really think the Costco rep makes more profit on,,,, but was unhappy with several of those features.
    Thus now wearing Jabra…and listened to this video, because the fit in my left ear leaves so much to be desired!! You’ve answered my qualms, and I’m heading into the stop to have them change the mold to be a little larger fit into the left ear. Thank you for your clear explanation, so that I can have a better hearing experience:). Also, I might note, that the app for Jabra is far superior to the Phillips hearing aid app, most often given to Costco members!

    I have Enhance Pro (M&RIE) and the “environmental optimizer” is driving me nuts! My EV is quiet, but at around 60 kph tire and wind noise triggers the devices to turn down the audio level and increase the noise-cancellation. In seconds a “cone of silence” (yes, remember “Get Smart?”) descends and I can no longer understand my passenger.
    Can this “feature” be turned off? How about in the 20?

      @@dougbas3980 The app allows adjustments on level and noise reduction in all-around mode, but it is subject to override by the lousy algorithm! My “outdoors” setting does NOT automatically override.

    I have Phonaks with real Bluetooth in them and I can connect to cell phones, TV's, PC's, my cars, etc. without the need of some other stupid device to connect me. I will not buy anything now without true Bluetooth, why go back to the dark ages without it? Why do other brands not put true unrestricted Bluetooth in their device?

      Not much is discussed about hearing aids and Bluetooth and android vs iphone. I am due for new aids and I don't want to buy an iPhone in order to continue to be able to stream phone calls on android. Android is slow when it comes to tech with LE Bluetooth and costco is no longer selling the phonaks with classic Bluetooth which work well with android, so now i will have to shop somewhere else and pay more for aids or learn how to deal with iPhone.

    • @danaheath9559
      @danaheath9559 2 месяца назад

      They partnered with Apple prior to 2018 to get around a patent. Therefore, they could not connect using classic Bluetooth. Phonak didn't partner with Apple.

    What he is not saying is that the Bluetooth is very very weak and will loose connection. I tried two pair one from Costco and the other direct from Jabra both pairs lost Bluetooth connectivity when I was in open spaces; like walking around a mall or at a golf course. Both pairs lost Bluetooth streaming connection as soon as I put my phone in my back pocket. Both technicians try to down play the failure. One said that it was a tube from the unit to the ear bud and replaced it. Did not work. The second tried changing settings and still, I continued to drop calls and my music was dropped on and off. The third one finally came clean and admitted that the Bluetooth in the hearing aid is very very weak and it is being work on, but the fix will not be available for a long time. Both pairs were returned for a refund.
    P.S. Costco return was a bit painful. I had to make an appointment and then the technician was really put off by the return.

    I will say out loud what we are thinking.
    If the wearer needs a cellphone to use your hearing aids these will not catch on to the older crowd. We hate cellphones, our fingers hate cellphones, our eyes hate cellphones.
    These are obviously designed by young engineers, to be used by young cool deaf techies, right?

    • @MartianSolarbuddy
      @MartianSolarbuddy 4 месяца назад

      @@kevinabel2370 What I do is turn them off with long holds and when they are dead and I’m ready to pair I turn them BOTH on simultaneously with 8-second presses. I have the impression that I could pair them one after the other and it would work, but I’ve never actually tried that. I just treat them as a unit.
      Note that I’ve never measured the times to force them off or repower-I just hold the buttons until the amplification stops. On powering, I hold them 8 or 9 seconds (approximately).

    Wow. So much bad information it’s hard to know where to start.
    Costco dosnt sell many different types of over the counter hearing aids. They sell ONE. And its sales are dismal.
    You did mention the feedback issue, but you buried it in your video. The jabra are horrible for high frequency loss due to feedback.
    Philips is better for high frequency loss, more user friendly, and has far superior customer service. Jabra customer service is mediocre at best.
