    My headlights were really not that bad but going downhill. I went to a local detail/tint shop and they wanted $125 per headlight which I thought was kinda high. Is that near the usual price?
    So I went shopping for a kit. I bought the Sylvania kit which videos show it works great if you do the final clear coat in on direction like the instructions show. But some videos show it being applied in circles and rubbed in. I now wish I had looked into this one first. I might return the Sylvania kit that I haven't used but it was cheap so I might as well try it. Thanks for the video!

    I just used this product and my experience was nothing like Review This Thing's. Of course, I'm just an average Joe and not trying to grow a web site / RUclips page; but perhaps my experience is due to the fact that I have a much older vehicle (1999 Ford Ranger) than R.T.T. used. The headlights are very yellow and foggy.
    I used the Cerakote Ceramic Headlight Restoration kit, following the instructions to the letter! Results were very disappointing.
    Some of the yellow and fog was removed, but a lot was not. So now the headlights look even worse because rather than a uniform appearance, they're completely blotchy looking. So I did not go to the last step of applying the Ceramic Clear Coating. Rather, I even went back and repeated Step 1 with Oxidation wipes which, by the way, did not turn anywhere near the dirty and/or yellow appearance as shown in Cerakote's "How To" video. Followed that up with another "rub down" with the 2000 grit sanding disc, then the 3000 grit pad. (BTW, I think they "cheaped out" only providing 2 discs of each; should be double that.) The second run through steps 1 & 2 removed a little bit more of the yellow fogginess, but only a little bit more. I have before and after photos, but obviously this site does not provide a means of showing them.
    My conclusion is that if one has a relatively late model car with modest fading / fogging of the headlights, you will probably have success with this product; but if, like myself, you're facing a more serious challenge, this product will disappoint you.

      There is clearly a point where zero kits work to repair a heavily damaged headlight surface. I've used this kit on numerous 10-12year old vehicles with moderate to heavy fogging but no major surface damage from oxidation and the deep damage that can result. Also, the final step with the ceramic coating IS the kit. Up until that thick, scratch-filling coating hits the surface, you have a very foggy, sanded headlight.
      There is a healthy aftermarket replacement headlight industry for a reason.

    Hi...I bought the Cerakote headlight restorer kit but have not opened it yet. My headlights are just starting to oxidize around the outer edges and not where the light shines through. Would it work OK to just do step 1 only...that is, just use the oxidation remover pads only? I started to try that but somewhere I think it said using the pads (in step 1) would leave the headlight "cloudy looking", so I'm wondering if I should leave well enough alone and just wait until the oxidation is worse and then do all three steps?

    • @ReviewThisThing
      @ReviewThisThing  Год назад +1

      When you finish Step 1, they definitely get cloudy. They get a little cloudier with step 2. It’s not until after 3 that they clear up. I’d leave them until they’re bad if it were me.
