I really like how it sounds with the stock exhaust. Just a bit lower, with a touch of turbo whoosh and whistle. An aftermarket exhaust will make it sound meaner, but from what I read, it doesn't add any significant power. The stock exhaust isn't really restrictive in the first place.
not true, I've changed to a Milltek non res race which adds very noticeable gas reaction time, maybe touch faster spool time and you feel in 1st and 2nd gear that its allows gas to escape quicker, its hard to describe but i did not expect such a difference.
These downpipes are great with a tune , as the engine accelerates they allow the turbo to keep accelerating , unlike the OEM cat which diminishes turbo acceleration as engine accelerates hence a drop in power in the higher rpm's.
Putting one of these upgraded downpipes was a pain. But eventually I got it in and is rewarding. Probably one of the worst part to put in than anything else. Nice bro! 😎👍
Hi great video. Is the reducer needed? I’ve just had a sports cat fitted and stage 2 software but the garage didn’t put a reducer in and I have a smaller diameter cat back. Thanks
Hi and thank you. It depends really. The answer is probably not. Especially if it's a Milltek which is 2.75" anyway so only a bit smaller. At the time, I had a standard cat back exhaust so for the small cost of the reducer I put it on.
Currently have the intake and crossover pipes from ITG, is it possible to have the stock exhaust and fit in the sports cat? Personally likely to go with Miltek, but not sure if it’s a direct swap out with existing stock cat or not!
All I need hardware wise for stage 2 is the sport cat downpipe (was looking at mountune). Are you going to stick with Mountune (MR230) for the stage 2 remap?
@@fordyford have you short listed anyone yet? My fist is my daily driver so I am a little nervous to go with anyone else apart from Mountunes more conservative map.
Thanks. The standard heatshield is mouled to the standard downpipe so doesn't fit, hence the thermal coating. The manifold heat shield, firewall and exhaust tunnel heat shields remain in place. No support screws.
It did meet up with an adapter. Check who you are getting the remap/tune through as different companies suggest different hardware. It's basically whatever hardware had on the car when they developed their map.
Honestly I can't remember. I think it's just a few bolts. Taking the cowell off and moving the header tank over gave a hell of a lot more room to move.
Mitch puts a price on his time hahaha. I paid around $735AU to my door for the downpipe, exhaust adapter and intake so unsure on an accurate figure for just the downpipe. It works out quite a bit cheaper than the Mishimoto downpipe which comes in around $700AU.

Yeah the stock cat back will flow enough for what I want. I may in future get a custom 2.5" system for a tiny bit more noise.

It would have taken me a long time to do, luckily I took it to someone who knew what they were doing.
Cheers for watching.

Awesome thank you. Yes it’s milltek 😁
I'm fairly sure at least 99% of people with a Milltek don't bother with a reducer.
No worries mate, thanks for watching.

I think you can. I have a stock cat back and Whoosh Motorsports. I used the 3" to 2.5" (stock) adapter.
I have the Mp215 as well, you said it did not give you check engine light. Was the case the same later on?
It came on after a while yes. Took around 4 weeks.
What wheels are those? Dig the look.
Thanks. They are Oz Racing Superturismo LM.

I haven't decided who to go with yet but the labour cost of the cam timing locking tool is a strike against the Mountune map.

@@marcchipping4397 I am exploring lots of options
What did you do when the check engine light came on. ?
Not a lot. It doesn't affect how the car drives, it's just a required warning for emissions purposes.
A suitable remap can eliminate it.
Thanks. Good to know. I am going stage 2 from mp215 like you. Going to get a custom tune. I hope it works out.
Good luck with it. The increases in 1st and 2nd are great, as it will through all gears thought if it's a good retune.
looks good for sure,,coating is something different, noticed it does not have the support screws like the milltek? apart from that nice piece of kit

Hey mate did you attach this to a standard exhaust and did it meet the requirements for stage 2 remap ? I don’t want a loud exhaust lol
It did meet up with an adapter.

@@fordyford what adapter do I need
What country are you in? It's usualy a thin 3 inch to 2.5 inch apadter plate even though the standard cat back on a Fiesta ST is 2.25 inch.
@@fordyfordno worries did it make a huge difference in sound at all
Not a huge difference. It makes a lower/deeper note, no added drone and not much (if any) extra noise as the stock echaust/mufflers do what they do.
How did you remove the header heat shield
Honestly I can't remember. I think it's just a few bolts. Taking the cowell off and moving the header tank over gave a hell of a lot more room to move.
@@fordyford I did all that but there was two skinny metal pipe on top of the heat shield to make it harder to get out of there
and to think when i changed my intake over 10X i never removed the cowl, would've made like so much easier haha
Having seen it done, for the sake of 5 minutes to take it out it will give excellent access for anyone replacing a crossover pipe.
@@fordyford wish I knew about it before haha
How much did it cost in AUD landed and coated. I know Mitch's time is incalculable 😁

Why can’t the focus ST have the same downpipe to turbo bolts instead of a stupid v band
V-band is good for sealing though.
