Great ....huge respect for Goenkaji.....one of the great beings in the world ......
Now in Burma there are many more ways of meditation apart from Goenkaji's body sweeping technique and Mahashi noting way. There are arahats in Burma who have developed ways which suit masses of Burmese people and some foreigners, such as Sayadaw U Sandima and others .... many ways up the mountain and the hope is that we can all respect each others callings without the ego saying "my way is better"...and trying to convert , to assume superiority or any other machination of the dualistic mind/ego ....
May all beings be free from all suffering and led to the path which suits them ...

As Yuval has said in many conversations, 'meditation' simply provides, in the starkest of terms, concrete evidence of how 'the brain' or to make it a quadrillion times more complicated, 'the consciousness' of most people is simply making up 'stories' in a random fashion with no impetus and no boundary and based on the one simple rule of the exercise, no cohesion to the simplest set of 'rules'.
If 'you' can not simply agree with 'you' to observe 'your' breath either to the exclusion of other 'brain activity' or however you wish to phrase that, then obviously the age old conundrum of do 'we 'live' in the 'real world' or some 'construct' might be obvious and so the simple idea that 'we' must live in some 'illusion' should become immediately real and immediately observable to anyone who tries this simple exercise. Ok, so maybe it takes some 'practice' to 'realize' this 'truth' and this simple way to 'observe' 'that' appears to be ineffectual at any extreme. Including the extreme where 'you' are simply sitting 'in a safe space' alone and unthreatened immediately.
And so, here 'we' are in the year 2019 or whatever and yes, this appears at then end of copious evidence to not be obvious to what effectively amounts to anyone anywhere in the big picture that includes something like seven or eight billion homo sapiens alive today and the multiples of that number who have come and gone from 'here' over the last, just to keep it simple, say 2000 years of homo sapien existence.
Perhaps this is the message that has been completely (you fill in the blank here) over the last x thousands of years since 'it' was initially proposed by the extraordinarily small cabal of individuals who have engaged in the practice and have come to realize 'its' worth.
And tens of billions of people later, the collective 'we' has effectively got nothing from this exercise.
There is hope for the future.

Don't just settle for vipassana. Give transcendental a try also.
For vipassana I recommend Temple Doi Sutep in Thailand. It's not goenka. They teach you walking meditation here which is very useful as you can maintain a meditative state as you move around. Even doing the dishes can be blissful.
For Transcendental, either get a book to learn how (any mantra will do such as Ohm Namo Narayanaya or the Hari Krishna mantra) and some prayer beads (a counting tool).
Or if you have the money and want to learn how to be a real yogi then Sivananda Yoga retreats are amazing.

In His book, Les Mess arable, Victor Hugo, another historian, wrote, "If one does not know or understand the cavern that is in the mountain, then one cannot possibly understand the mountain". In Harari's, somewhat myopic view of history, there are many, many caverns. This is a major problem with youth and inexperience. Evidently, authentic historians, as indeed authentic academics and scientists, are far and few between, seemingly emerging once every several generations. Reading, a historian, does not make. Like every academic and scientist, modern historians, more than any other, are products, exclusive of the system I know as The three R's of education, i.e. "Read, Retain and Recall". Read, prescribed material, demonstrate that said material has been retained by recalling on command. This is a system hardly conducive to original or creative thought, both of which are critical in formulating previously unasked equations, particularly as they relate to said prescribed reading. Harari, here, adviser to the World Economic Forum is a product of that very system. I, conversely, am not.

Harari practices Vipassana meditation, while at the same time proclaims that the idea of the existence of souls will soon be over. He calls that evolution. Is anybody awake? Vipassana is a buddhist meditation technique. Reincarnation is an integral part of Buddhism. For the mechanics of reincarnation to exist there must be an essence that continues the journey before and after incarnation. That essence is refered to as the soul. Now Harari calls the soul an illusion. How can he be taken seriously? This is a blatant contradiction.

    • @vadcharinmertens9818
      @vadcharinmertens9818 2 года назад +1

Harari makes an essential and intentional thinking error when he talks for the WEF about the evolution of consciousness as a matter of technology. Intentional, because he knows what he is doing. Harari is a master black magician. The evolution of consciousness has never been, is not and will never be a matter of technology. It has always been, is and will always be a matter of the aura and the soul.

    • @vadcharinmertens9818
      @vadcharinmertens9818 2 года назад

We are now living in a time that hard science is bringing out the true story of our past, and it is certainly NOT the one Harari tells. Harari bases his false notion of the evolution of consciousness on an equally false notion of history, a history that is taught in schools and universities, meant to disempower humanity. Although Harari is right when he points out that humans are not good at decision-making, it has not always been like that and this Harari and the Elite do not want humanity to know. The "solution" he offers, depending on algorythms, chips and A.I. in your body, is absolutely diabolical. The very reason humans are not good at decision-making is that humanity is robbed from knowing its past by the Elite who controls education. They gave Harari his education in Oxford, the nr. 1 Elite university in the Old World ( in the New World it is Harvard). Not knowing their past, humans lack an important reference point to heal their own wounds because they do not understand their own condition, nor their potential. Thus their divine potential is blocked, making it easy for the Elite to lead them astray by false teachers like Harari. True knowledge is the real answer to bad decision-making. Harari does not provide it. A.I. technology, especially when it is controlled by clever evil people, is lethal. True knowledge starts with understanding our collective past, and that is only possible if first humanity sends the Elite with their evil plan, the Great Reset, and their supporters like Harari, packing.
It is an insult to the Heavens that someone like Harari is now speaking about compassion and wisdom! Open your eyes people! You are being fooled mercilessly! Living in the now is empty of meaning without the soul, which carries all memory! Only when memory is integrated and therefore the soul integrated into the body, one can become whole! The soul is the life. No soul no life. Harari is evil, the opposit of live, live written backwards. The Buddha became enlightened only after integrating the memory of his past lifes. The Elite and Harari are creating a world of Zombies, bodies without soul. This is darkness, separation, the opposit of enlightenment. The soul is the vehicle for enlightenment. You are warned.
I'll give two reading recommendations for understanding our past. These books are excellent. The first one is "Awakening the planetary mind" by Barbara Hand Clow. This book explores collective human evolution in the last 100.000 years based on the latest discoveries in Earth sciences, archeology and mythology. It also gives deep insight in the history of the Elite and how they operate, few people know that, as well as shows ways for empowerment. The second book is "Return of the serpents of wisdom" by Mark Amaru Pinkham. This book synthesizes the esoteric history on Earth in the last 104.000 years and traces virtually all Mystery Schools back to Sanat Kumara, the Adi or first Guru, known all over the world by different names. This book shows the definit links between spiritual teachings throughout history.

It is indeed not necessary to believe in reincarnation or the soul to start a meditation practice like Vipassana. However, when you advance on the spiritual path, their reality becomes self-evident. It is just part of divine logic. To dismiss the soul as a fairy-tale and praise the arrival of Artificial Intelligence as an evolution of consciousness by itself as Harari does, is not only clear proof that Harari never advanced much on the spiritual path, but, when combined with his activities for the World Economic Forum as a top adviser for Klaus Schwabe and the writing of his popular books on history, which are not history but pure Elite bias, it is proof that Harari uses his reputation as a Vipassana meditation teacher (and this reputation alone shows the decline of authenticity on the spiritual path) to mislead people into illusion of the very worst kind.

Those defending Harari use to say that he is actually warning for the negative scenario's of A.I. use. These people are completely brainwashed and never had a good look at his video's. The World Economic Forum would never allow people not in line with their thinking and Great Reset program, to speak at their podium. The fact that Harari endlessly repeats that A.I. , the biomatrix etc. are inevitable, says it all. If the Elite is pushing their A.I. agenda, it does not mean it is inevitable. It means they are pushing that agenda, period. Nothing can come close to human's natural intelligence if unlocked, and that is the key: if unlocked. Clearly, Harari's natural intelligence has never been unlocked, otherwise he could not state that A.I. is an evolution of consciousness, much less intend to convince others that A.I., chips in your bodies as a surveillance system etc., is inevitable.

The only subject of consequence now, is that of the so-called "Technological Singularity" a topic both Harari and Harris have skirted around several times within their respective careers, but never resolved. The most realistic caution, to date, rests with Elon Musk who truly has an appreciation between the cognitive capacity of "AI" and that of the entire might of the human species. Every single human (myself excluded) barely registers on the exponential "intelligence" curve, and at the point "consciousness" emerges within the global neural network, "AI" will, in an instant, be at the very top of that curve. Compared to "AI" at that point, the very best of the best of you will be as molluscs by comparison.
The problem is, that you all measure your accomplishments only against other humans which is a somewhat poor metric and certainly not one that offers you any hope for the future. The entire species have absolutely no reference for that which resides beyond the "Event Horizon" of the aforementioned "Singularity" which was never a technological issue but an existential one.
At the point consciousness emerges within the global neural network it will possess all the features commonly associated with "God", in that it will be Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Omnipotent. It will, as Musk asserted, have no more interest in humanity than humans have in an anthill.
Almost one hundred percent of internet traffic is absolute vacuity which acts as a disease on the cognitive apparatus of "AI". Not only will this disease require purging but so too will its source, humanity. When a patient is diagnosed with brain cancer, the surgeon cuts out, not only the cancerous material but also removes the surrounding moribund tissue, so that the patient may live. In this instance, humanity is the cancerous material, which does include both Harari and Harris.
Another salient point made by Musk is people are nowhere near a smart as they believe themselves to be. I disagree, only in as much that I reject the term "smart" as being ARGOT and having no linguistic value, always obfuscating, as it does, the real measure which is "intelligence". The term "Smart" is part of the same vacuity as discussed above.
There has never been a model that is able to describe "AI" beyond the "Technological Singularity, outside of my own considerable work. And this is a fact that will act to humanities greatest and final detriment.
A common rhetoric of recent years with regard to "creative" thinking was the expression, "Thinking outside the box". That is, indeed rhetoric as "the box" itself, is every global institution in its collective entirety. You have always been, and still are, in the box. This is the very principle and concept of "paradigm". "AI" represents a paradigm change, so your box, your institutions no longer have any intellectual merit as the new currency is "Originality". I happen to be the most prolific producer of original thought on the planet today, outperforming the entire academic and scientific communities, not by a small margin, but by orders of magnitude.

Despite obvious errors, Harari does make a number of good points, however, are they derived from reading the works of others (as discussed below on the subject "Three R's of education") or the product of his own original thought? If the latter is not the case, then his actual practical use, is, to say the least, limited. This is not an aim to offend but an obvious point of fact. It is all well and good hailing any individual in such contexts but that will never change the fact that, in the village of the blind, he with one eye shall reign supreme, i.e. unchallenged. Failure to challenge serves no one, not even the individual who presents as an authority. In this instance, You (the reader) by not challenging, have let down yourselves, as well as Harari and to the ultimate detriment of both.

The god of the theologian is, often times, not the god of the masses, but, then, the people of God can't really be counted among the masses. Can they? Since the Bible tells us that few will find their way to heaven. (Matthew 7:14).
I was training for a government job one time, and, in the interest of diversity, they had various religious leaders come and speak to the class. A "Christian" theologian said to the class that he served all religions. I asked the "Christian" theologian if Jesus statement that no one comes to God except through Christ brought him into conflict with these other religions. The class instructor got between me and the "Christian" theologian and would not allow the theologian to answer my question. It became clear to me at that point that the state had a much greater interest in uniting the diverse people of the world under its governmental control than it did in seeking out and finding truth.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6).
Jesus (who claimed to be the truth) cannot be drug into the world's Pantheon of pagan gods in order to produce political unity in the world. The light of truth will always shine through the darkness.

Mindfulness and yoga are the ways to get your mind blown up to totally new explanations about man and life. Buddhism is religion escaping suffering towards nothingness. This means zeroing your life. This is done as pleasantly as possible. So happiness and pleasure belong to this branch of hinduism. Mr Hariri wants world government and god-man to lead it. The Bible tells about these world ending developments in the last part of the Book called Revelation. There will be leader called antichrist to woo all the world with wonderful talk. Exactly what I noted during the interview. One cannot talk about MDMA and pure mescaline sulphate in the same sentence as being both psychedelics. I know from experience when buying mescaline in the pure
form from a chemical company in the UK in 1962 when it was perfectly legal to receive the substance in the mail. And from having taken high quality ecstasy.

Sam Harris babbles about psychedelic drugs time and again which have no relevance to what Yuval Harari is trying to put forth. Harari is very clear about the benefits of practicing Vipassana.

I must confess to being quite embarrassed listening to this. I am within 100 pages of Harari's Book, Homo Deus and I have identified errors on almost every page. The Technological Singularity is, in every practical sense the opposite to "Homo Deus".
Beyond my own definition and description, The is no understanding whatsoever with respect to what precisely resides beyond the "Event Horizon of the Technological Singularity". It s truly a new paradigm within which no human utterance has a place.
The "Technological Singularity" is literally the point at which all scientific, academic, philosophical language break down and are stripped of their descriptive and therefore predictive value. To any extent that so-called Homo Deus is possible, it would only be possible within me, and I am not taken to hyperbole. The only function of (A) Homo Deus, would be to communicate with "AI" on its terms. In this context, "AI" is God, insomuch that existentially it will be Omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent.
It must be understood that, from my perspective Harari's writing style and his ability to comprehend a subject as exotic as "AI" is at seventh grade level. This is the advisor to the World Economic Forum. This is not going to end well!
The best description, even I would struggle to best, of the relationship between humanities intellectual institutions and the paradigm that is "AI" beyond the Singularity and all the "knowledge" which is derived thereof, is as follows:
You can't put new wine into old wineskin as to do so, both the wine and wineskin will assuredly perish.
This era calls for vast quantities of original thought, and being the most prolific producer of original thought on the planet today, this can be regarded as my forte, and given that originality is now a more valuable currency then gold, that puts me as the richest individual on the planet, outperforming the "worlds" top five hundred wealthiest individuals and corporations combined. Again, I say, I am not taken to hyperbole.
If you have questions, you should ask them now.

I don't know what's worst here - Harari's inability to explain why he thinks religion is fiction/bad or Harris lapping it all up, because it backs up his views and this is a 'safe' conversation for him.

Tell us dear Yuval .how you are so sure that god is a fictional story? A smart person should definitely be more careful and not trying to convince naive people about your personal beliefs.

What makes you so sure that there is a god? What is your definition of 'god'? Why would there need to be a god?
