    Btw, Those are crackheads in the video. lol I was drawing the parallel between crack addiction and speeding on a supersport. I never did drugs in my life but I assume the addiction to drugs is as bad as the addiction to speed on a supersport motorcycle.

    Well-stated points man! Since I've never ridden a SS, I can't say that I know that level of temptation. But even on my cruiser, whenever I encounter an open stretch of road, I wanna crank that throttle. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to keep yourself in check on a SS. 'Specially with that torque at your fingertips; that HP at your beck and call; that POWER just a crank away!

    1. Yup. I like the supermodel analogy.
    2. I haven't found this to be the case in northern Nevada.
    3. Some areas are better than others. I parked mine out in front of my apartment for over two years and no one ever messed with it.
    4. Yup. I didn't hear the tip about Chinese fairings until too late. My OEM fairings are effed.
    5. It does take a little getting used to.
    6. Yes, but at 40 mpg who cares about the price of gas?
    7. Yup. Kind of like #1. Unless you're leaned way over I don't think a squirrel would wreck you. A deer OTOH...
    8. Lubing a chain takes like five minutes. The hard part is remembering to do it. True about tires. You can get sport touring tires and give up a bit of grip for longer life. I get almost ten thousand out of a Michelin PR3 rear. Trying the PR4 soon.

    So poor impulse control is a con? Maybe some of us are better than th... nah, I can finish that.
    I just moved from a CBR500r to a GSXR 750 and I was cruising the other day, thought I was doing 60, and was doing 110. Gonna have to be careful, myself! That throttle is like a psychology experiment... I feel like the hamster that pushes the button to get a reward.

      lol Reason I still like my cbr600rr, I feel the speed better on it compared to my cbr1000rr. However, both beg me to "crank it" on the back roads. lol

      D. Hunter same with me brotha i feel that way to. When i go to work it is very easy to go over 100. I have a 09 GSXR 750. My friend has a 03 GSXR 600 the way i feel the speed is different it feels more raw on the 600.

      hey dude, i got a cbr500r and i want a gsxr 750. what did you think man?

    • @DrTranofEvil
      @DrTranofEvil 8 лет назад +1

      Baden Watson i think I shoulda just bit the bullet and went 1k. The 750 has a LOT more pull than my old CBR500, but trying to dial in the suspension was a pain and I'm still missing how well I could corner with that 500. That said, I still want a little more on the throttle just for torque, not so much speed.
      I still gotta say I love the gixx. I've had it up to 155mph and there was more on the handle. My old CBR started vibrating about 100-105.
      My next bike, I'm looking at a Ninja ZX10r, a Yamaha R1 or a CBR1000 (I'm glad I went Suzuki this time, but I gotta admit I'm probably gonna come back to red at some point).

    I can understand what you're saying. For me what i do to keep safe is establishing limits over the real limits, i never till now got even close to my limits. why? because i don't like hospitals, i don't have money for another bike or massive repairs, i love my bike and it's for now my only mean of transportation and relax moments.
    The acceleration oh yeah i love it can't say never done it, but, there is a time and place for everything and limits. I confess that I now find myself sometimes discipline myself not because of over-speeding, but because i'm at a speed that it's "safe", okay, i'm not on my real limits, but its more than the limits i establish myself. I prefer to cruise under the speed limits, getting good millage, enjoying the view and the freedom that only those who ride a motorcycle can understand the feeling, prefer that to speeding where you have to be 100% focus on driving without relaxing, i'm this type of rider.
    About stealing, that's why i choose a old Sport buddy,( besides the costs ), a old CBR 600 F2. less risk to steal because the parts are cheap and exist a lot of them so they're not worth the risk. More than that, my street has a lot of motorcycles parked outside so we're like a family watch each other back or in this case motorcycle's.

    My big issue with sport bikes, especially supersports, is PAIN. I owned a Ninja ZX6R for 3 years, and in all that time, I only put 5000 miles on it. The bars were so low that they put all my upper body weight on my shoulders, arms, and wrists. And because you are bent over so far, you have to bend your neck back almost all the way to see where you are going.
    But it doesn't end there. Then there are the pegs, which are mounted so high and far back that you wind up cutting off the circulation in your legs. I almost dropped it once, I came to a stop, put my feet down, and realized I had no feeling in my legs. Fortunately I was still in first, so I gassed it and got moving again. I took my feet off the pegs, straightened my legs out a bit, and the feeling came back in my legs in a few minutes. This was after about a 50 mile ride at 65 mph, so it was well under an hour. I am now a die hard cruiser guy. I feel that cruisers can be just as safe as any other bike if you pay attention. And I can go on all day rides without any serious pain.

    hey man I can't deny it, but when I bought my 2013 Ninja ZX6R 636 when I bought it Fuel economy was one of the reason why i wanted not just that bike but a Motorcycle period. I honestly wanted to have something that was cheaper to run then my Car. Yet admittedly so I've always wanted the Supersport for the Fun Factor.

    Regular grade (87-89 octane) gas is fine and WILL NOT harm your bike - being said, premium grade (93-95+ octane) gives better performance and overall is smoother burning so its still recommended because like he said its only a couple dollars more.

    old school sport bikes (pre 80} have the advantage of being fun to take fast, but dont exactly get past 70 easily, which is a con if you want highway speeds, but my Yamaha RD is nothing but fun in the city, letting me go wide open and go through all the gears, but it hits a brick wall acceleration wise at 50mph.

    Of so many motovloggers that ride supersports, you're one of the few who will actually go up in speed. i mean you'd be surprised at how many Beemers, R1s and CBRs are actually used for touring/cruising, kinda stupid really, to buy a supersport(speed), but do touring(long distance, low speed). and you also shout "FACK", and it looks so fun! But anyways, i don't even own a bike yet, so there probably is something i'm missing, because you can go fast on a standard, and buy a dualsports for the street, meaning you decide the type(though the bike can be better at one task compared to another).

    Hey CC, I think you missed another "con" of supersports.. SS's have high footpegs and narrow, low clip-ons. It puts you into a seating position that is good for high speed stability but that same position is not really what you want for "streetfighting" . What you want for street fighting is "Superbike bars" and "drop pegs", this puts you into a more upright position were you can get more "bite" on the bike and carve out a tighter corner at the lower speed ranges. You give up some high speed stability but you get it back in Spades in the form of agility on the bottom end of the speed range 0-110mph. I have a both supersport and street fighter version of the bike I ride and I go for that streetfighter version as weapon of choice for the street. even though my street fighter has less displacement and power. I can still ride that streetfighter faster on the street vs my Supersport.. Its all about that riding positon, baby...its almost like riding a dirt bike. A good street fighter will make mincemeat out of super sport on the street.. believe it.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  10 лет назад

      Actually, that was my #5 con, at 7:34, however this is a pro for many of us riders including myself. Ask the riders who have cafe racers with low clip-ons. Personally, I like the ability to be able to switch from an upright seating position by taking the left hand off the bar and sitting up closer to the tank and then when I hit the twisties or want to get aggressive put my hand back on the bar and scoot backward on the seat. Also, high pegs give you better ground clearance when you are leaning around corners. Some supersports like the KTM RC9 you can adjust the foot pegs lower.

    • @Gloomshadow100
      @Gloomshadow100 10 лет назад

      CycleCruza true, but everything is a "trade-off" there is no real "right or wrong" way of doing things on this subject. The lower pegs can help you get more weight off the side where you need it to influence the rear wheel.. if they drag, they drag.. no big deal most the time, you got feelers to tell you when that starts to happen.. I know guys that will ride through a turn on the feelers in a hearbeat.. makes em feel better about the turn when they do it too..

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  10 лет назад +1

      Gloomshadow100 Yeah it's all personal preference. Like I said in my videos, if I had a garage big enough I would have all different kinds of bikes. I'm not just a SS dude, I'm a fan of streetfighters, nakeds, cruisers, trikes, quads, dirt-bikes, etc etc, all powersports. I even had fun on that pos 178cc chinese scooter. lol

    • @Gloomshadow100
      @Gloomshadow100 10 лет назад

      CycleCruza yeah I don't doubt it.. motorcycle ARE like women. Its nice to have a whole stable of them for different moods .. hahah. Have you considered converting the 600 into a streetfighter? It wouldn't take much to do and you would have a better reason to ride it more. Later on you could sell kit separately .

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  10 лет назад

      Gloomshadow100 lol No I like the fairings because I like to take long highway cruises on the 600. I'm thinking about maybe selling it and getting a pretty sunday cruiser like that new Indian Scout, maybe customize the scout to look more like a Harley Breakout, the drag bike look. You like the new Indian scout? It's only 558 lbs wet and has some power off the line for a cruiser. 200 lbs less than the HD!

    I get the same feeling on my 50. 50cc scooter that is. At about 38 miles an hour, just when I think I will hit 40, it is a an adrenaline rush like no other. LOL! Sometimes I think I am going to pull the throttle cable clean out of the carburetor!

    I would like a Fireblade, but my 14th bike might be the 600rr :-D Maybe it'll be my bike 15 :-D Speaking of enticing....throttle crank syndrome envisioning Chappelle staring you in the face :-) I would also like the "Where-the-cops-are" sense, and if only they would be blind to sport bikes, instead of being gravitated towards them. Pulling over to lose a cop is better idea as long as he doesn't follow you there too..but then I'd just leave as soon as he/she would park it. Being a lady, I'm paranoid of corrupt cops here. Swapping the fairings sounds awesome; I like painting ;-)

    Another con that you missed is taking passenger and carrying any item you might need. Taking passenger sucks on these bikes. You can't go as fast, take corners slower, bike feels heavier, etc. And if you need to carry something, you're SOL. The trunk space on the 600rr can barely fit 2 t-shirts. But SS are awesome and I love my 2011 CBR

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  10 лет назад

      Dylan Tran I never carried a passenger so I couldn't speak from experience. I've never heard anyone complain until your comment. I've seen riders carry a passenger on a track high speeds so I believe it's more about skill than a con. As far as trunk space you should check out a 2012+ Honda CBR1000rr, my trunk holds 4 gopro cameras, a tripod and other stuff. It has the biggest trunk I've ever seen on a sport bike. It's deep and long. My 600rr's trunk sucks though.

    even on my shitty cbr 250 it is difficult to keep the throttle under control, especially in slow traffic plus I don't have a speedometer so more than often I usually just zip where ever I am going. maybe a 1000cc should not be in my near future haha. I rode the 2007 cbr600rr and almost couldn't contain myself it was depressing riding the 600 and having to go back home on my 250 after the test ride :/

    That was one hell of a bolt. I have noticed that some motovlogers have gotten punctures in their tires while running over safety glass, which is no problem in a car with normal tiers. In general are sport bike tires all that soft, or did this person have some sort of soft track tire?

    Good video as always sir. I have a question, as a potential future rider, I'm a bit worried about tank slappers or head shakers. I know they mostly happen on wheelies, which isn't an aspect I would be interested in if I ever started riding, but I also heard they can happen in other scenarios too, so I'd like to hear your take on tank slappers, and if you ever experienced one. Thanks for the great content.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  10 лет назад

      root9065 Honda has the best built-in electronic steering damper that prevents tank slappers, with that said, I've never experienced any tank slappers/head shakers ever on these bikes. Get a honda with a HESD (Honda Electronic Steering Damper)and you won't have to worry about that. Best of luck to you!

    I think a few things got left out. 1. Super bikes GET HOT, in a hot climate that is a big problem. They cannot handle stop and go traffic-- fan kicks in start Barbecue you.. 2. Horrible at commuting in city because of turn radius. 3. They do not like going slow, perform pretty dicy at slow speeds gas wise. 4. Easy to drop because of position compared to those joke bikes. 5. Very unforgiving b/c they are heavy and powerful. (for new riders). When I first upgraded to a super, from a 250, I had to learn to ride all over again. I did not like the transition it felt weird.

    • @africanhistory
      @africanhistory 10 лет назад

      And I also promised myself I would ride at the same speed I did when I did with my 200 cc which did 100 KM (only). YEAH RIGHT! speed limit is 120 and i struggle to ride that slow. Even if you do 120 km/h the bike wants to do 135, then it wants to do 160, (then it is happy).

    At 8:35, about the premium gas, my V-Strom requires it too, but, if the bike is fuel injected and computerized, why should it matter? BTW, I haven't tried the lower octane fuel yet, but, what could happen other than less horsepower? Would it even be noticeable?

      But you will never find double lanes on normal roads.
      Just near big cities or places of heavy traffic.
      Also the US roads are usually much wider which makes over taking much easier and safer

    • @kovrcek
      @kovrcek 9 лет назад

      eberbacher007 why do you need double lanes..I'm confused. US roads seems all straights to me..kinda boring. On bigger bike overtaking is not a problem anyways ;)

    • @eberbacher007
      @eberbacher007 9 лет назад

      Martin Kováč
      well at least twisty road seems to mee much more fun with those double lanes.
      I mean such roads as blood mountain which are driven by guys like chaseon2 wheels,
      of course on straight roads like these videos you don´t need double lanes.
      But I have to agree with you, that all those straght lines in that video are great if you need to go from A to B fast, but not if you want to have fun riding a bike

    • @kovrcek
      @kovrcek 9 лет назад

      eberbacher007 ahh I got it now what double lane is..i thought double line at first lol. Yeah double lane is much better and safer for a spirited bike ride. Too bad there's not that many like you said.
      If you complain about roads I don't know what I should do..our roads are complete shit tbh (czech rep. btw). At least for sportbike but I still like riding it more than anything else.

    Bike security that i thought of that is fool proof. When you move the handle bar a certain amount it triggers a little voice on a speaker that says in robot voice "this bike is equipped with gps and the owner has been notified.".

    • @eberbacher007
      @eberbacher007 10 лет назад

      Well if you have an expensive bike, and the thieves are pros, they will have scouted the bike.
      They know more about your safety systems than you do.
      they know the frequencies, they have signal jammers+ lead+silencer blankets that block all signals and cancel 90% of any alarm.
      Pros will come with a van,signal jammers on.
      2 guys with heavy cutting tools come out and 20-40 seconds later any chain is gone.
      Then 2 other guys come, and the 4 guys put your bike in a van, put a blanket over it that cancels most of the alarm noises (plus its in a car) and the material stops all signals (plus its in a car).
      And then your bike is gone.
      Before the day is over, they will have searched it for hidden alarms or will have torn it to pieces to sell it in parts (which is what happens usually)
      You can´t do anything against pros, even if you have a guarded parking spot.
      There were case (super expensive bikes) where people where pushed off their bikes at a red light and then the bike was stolen.

    • @colemithrush
      @colemithrush 10 лет назад

      eberbacher007 My idea still stands. most bike thieves would not expect to hear a voice come out the bike that says its equipped with gps and the police are notified.. most dont assume a bike has gps on it, but i guess if some real good "pro" thieves had that tool they could take the bike i just think it would be really rare and 99% of thieves would run if they heard that.

      I keep liability coverage on my Hayabusa and zx10r. Just over $100 a year for both. That's why I pay cash for my bikes. I'm not worried about getting my bikes stolen where I live in Ohio. Why pay high insurance "in case" you wreck? I just accept that I'll fix it, not prepay some insurance company to fix it and not ever need it. That's just how I've done it for over 20 years.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  10 лет назад

      Daniel Williams I pay cash for my bikes too but I'd rather have my bike replaced by the insurance company than to fix it myself. Most of the time they will total out a bike even if it just has messed up fairings. Bikes do get stolen out here in ohio....
