This Video was, even being a little older, really helpful for me finally getting into some repeated landing training (in my case) with the Fenix a320. Thank you so much 😊… I did my base training at EDHI (the Airbus base in Hamburg Finkenwerder) Runway 05 … with a really nice takeoff over the Elbe river and the city of Hamburg. The first manual round was terrible, but I got better every try after that. Being able to do several otherwise identical approaches in a row is really a good training. Keep up the good work with your videos 👍
The autopilot is doing very strange things for me.. sometimes it will just disengage the autothrust and shoot to the moon, on the first landing and take off I go toga and the LVR climb message never appears
Great video. Been flying proper flights but never really practiced landings, needed some mental confirmation on how to program it and you explain it perfectly.
Thanks for this. When I've tried manual landings previously I've ended up fighting the aircraft all the way down despite AP being off. I hadn't realised you need to set the VS rate. Practice time! I'll also have to look into TRK/LAT mode.
Many thanks for that Gavin. A great tutorial.💥 Been auto flying the A320 NX Version for about a year now and this was a great exercise. My initial attempt out of Birmingham EGCC took me on an extended runway heading until I could get it all configured 🙄 and had a very long and wide downwind leg (which gave me ample time to read my notes) . After 3 restarts I managed to shorten and narrow my downwind legs but still room for improvement. Lots of practice still required and I might have to make this a monthly exercise. 😮
Once again, another great training video. I have noticed that I can activate the approach each time around but everything else works correctly, apart from the pilot ha ha
How do you get the threshold?? You sorta just glazed over that part as if we are supposed to know what that means or how to find it. I'm only 6min into the tutorial and already stuck =\ Edit: I figured it out. It was easier to figure out than I initially though but it could have been explained a bit more plainly. Could have said, "Which is the Airports IACO plus the runway number."
Very challenging in low visibility conditions or with some proper winds factored into the mix, thank you for the tutorial, what a great way to get some practice in on the most crucial phases of flight.
Doesn't really allow for following here since you haven't shared the A/C loading. Therefore, at least in the Fenix, without cargo/pax/fuel and a load sheet, it will not compute v-speeds automatically.
@@Easyjetsimpilot I guess the Approach Phase is to ensure that managed speed follows the flap handle. But from your experience, for final approach, is it better to descend at managed or selected speed?
@@jeffhiew5795 that's it. If you dont arm the approach phase then when you want to slow to final approach speed (Vapp) by pushing for managed speed...you'll shoot up to 250kts (and yes, that's happened irl with pilots too!) Managed Speed is far better. It's one less thing for you to concern yourself with, and if your setting your Vapp speed manually, then GS Mini won't work.
Good tutorial, clearly and logically explained. I do enjoy your content but it's has made me realise just how rubbish I am. I understand the theory, I just can't actually control the airbus manually. It pitches wildly up and down no matter how light I am on the controls so I can't maintain a stable altitude. I also don't seem to be able to get the turns right and can never line up. I've checked the calibration of my flight controls and they're ok so obviously It's my lack of ability that's at fault. I've practiced this dozens of times and instead of getting better I seem to be getting worse. I think it's time to hang up my headphones and admit flying the airbus is beyond my abilities.
I’ve done everything you told following you step by step but I’m not able to switch into Managed Speed using the stable Version of the FBW A320 Neo. Why could this be?
I found it much easier to get into Speed mode after I assigned a button on my controller to "Toggle Flight Director" - which switch both off simultaneously.
This is exactly what I experienced. I did a few patterns, and on some of them, the plane would not want to go into SPEED mode, so the speed was increasing like crazy. With a button to turn FDs off, I was consistently getting SPEED mode.
Am I the only one having really hard to see the PAPI lights in MSFS2020 (before in last second) ? Especially in daylight. As it is now I wouldn't be able to use them in daylight to see if I'm on the glideslope at all.
Hi easyJet, very nice video but, i have a problem with fbw a320. Its imposible go upper than FL240 due weather i think, do you know the solution? Maybe disconnect the live weather? I need help :S thank you so much, continue uploading videos 👌👌

Hello, you can do a tutorial or a flight with A320 FBW, DEV version, which includes a landing with RNAV procedure. Thank you very much and congratulations on the videos you bring to the YT channel.
Hey there, Definitely earned a sub from me, for all of the work that you have put in. Quick question if you can. Do you by any chance have a tutorial as to how to utilise a stream deck with the FBW A320? I have tried with limited amount of success to set mine up with this aircraft. However I’m going to be completely honest, I have failed miserably. If you have a video like this already, that I haven’t noticed, I’d be happy to watch it, and if you do not have one yet, I’d really appreciate if you could create one. Thank you in advance! 🙂

Ah and just to confirm I know that there’s a profile for the Stream Deck XL. However I only have the 15 key version, instead of the 32 key one.

Practice makes perfect. As you can see from the vid, there was still items missing from me. Much easier with a 2 man crew.

If the weather has low vis, then base training is usually cancelled as its all done VFR.

Amazing tutorial thanks for uploading what scenery are you using I seem to be getting double overlay runway lines and numbers? Thanks in advance 🙂
if you have default scenery AND download scenery then disable one
Thank you, very instructive. I come from Xplane 11-Toliss. I found it pretty impressive.
This is very fun to do, i'm doing it eversince i saw you doing this in live stream 😃
Nice tutorial. BTW, for Touch and Go, in the flight isn't in NAV mode, what is the purpose of activating the Approach Phase in MCDU?
What happens when you push the SPD bug for MANAGED SPEED?

Hell would it be easier if I did this at the same airport or does it work for any airport?

This is a bug when temperature suddenly rises to 250+ deg and yes you are right :disable live weather when above FL240 then enable when landing.

FIX INFO is not selectable sir ?
You need the Flybywire dev version of the A320NX
next time with AT off...
Not with my SOPs. Try Lufthansa 😜
