I just love the fact that I can watch all of this and IT MAKES SENSE! Yesterday I had put myself into a hold (just to practice) when the doorbell rang. It was amusing chatting briefly with a neighbour knowing that my A32 was safely in a hold. Best of luck with the apex gaming pcs - I'm a pensioner, but I do enjoy window shopping for hardware :)
Having had a stressful day at work, coming to this is a nice surprise. Thank you for putting these up once more. This is what I need to get my mind off silly IT problems. :D
Wow, can I just say what a great video, nice and easy and really helped with my planning. Just started really starting learning planning and this was 10/10 video. Thanks mate
Excellent tutorial. Thank you. I normally use holds in the sim in order to reduce altitude, as I’m always descending too fast for some reason. Plus you get a chance to take in the lovely scenery that MSFS 2020 affords. Thanks again.
According to the devs, MSFS doesn't have published holds in its navdata, so the calculations are purely based on the inbound track. You'll always have to modify to get published values.
I've done one quick test of the hold feature and I'm amazed! It works! Hehehe... Fantastic explanation for someone like me who is still learning on this procedure stuff (despite having flown flight sims for over 30 years). Now to go use it in an actual flight. ;)
Clear & concise explanation (like all your videos) - currently learning the Fenix A320 and this was particularly valuable for using it online on VATSIM. Thank you!
Many thanks for another great tutorial... this one gave me the confidence to experiment and I'm pleased to say I'm now routinely practising holds... great fun and one thing less to worry about as I prepare for joining live ATC sessions
I’ve had to hold for 40 mins before on Vatsim and had to change headings and time legs manually - I’ve been waiting for this feature for so long it’s great to see it implemented
As always I love all your videos and watch all of them as soon as I have time even I do not have time playing any flight simulator these days. Your channel one of the few, if not the only, channel that I love so much that I have to comment here and show my respect!
Learned so much again from you! Thank you! I always wanted to be an airliner pilot but genetics said "lol nope" and gave me 200 cm height and bad eyesight, MSFS is the next best thing I guess :)
As usual, amazing video Always love learning about new procedures about aviation even if I'm just puttering around in the twin otter right now in MSFS.
Great content as always! Really informative to get the most from the aircraft and hard work they've put in We get holds in Jersey all the time due to fog! Side note: Maybe time to update the intro sequence with MSFS for better quality?
hmm, pressed a button…. I was flying from Palma to Malaga yesterday but realised too late that I had a real-life appointment so decided to divert to Ibiza, instead of just closing msfs down. I got into problems, realising that I did not really know what to do. The basics were there but that was not enough. Thanks in advance. Ben
I would really love to know the answer to this question, which is: if the flight computer determines the entry of a holding pattern, does it also determine the entry for an approach with a procedure turn?? For example the Princess Juliana has a VOR approach with a procedure turn and one would use the same technique to enter the approach just as he/she would a holding pattern.
Captain, can you explain the "Map Partially displayed" message on the ND? I've seen it pop up here on there in my flights as well and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the zoom level but not entirely sure. Thanks for the video! :D
I believe it's when there is more information to show than it can show on the ND. Having waypoints displayed will almost always make this happen because there are so many waypoints in most places
from the FBW NOTAM page: "Our custom ND now features EFIS filters, bringing it ever closer to its real-life counterpart. Included is a proper word transmission limit implementation, causing the ND to display a MAP PARTLY DISPLAYED message when the amount of data being transmitted and displayed has reached the limit. "
some tricky things I have noticed and we can get accros with ( for ex at an airline interview ) : the MSA is 5800feet, the Grid Altitude for SUVOK is 9600 and the minimum altitude between RF428 and SUVOK is 4000 feet. Question : are we allowed to fly lower than MSA or Grid Altitude ? Answer :Yes sir !
Hi,this is the first video I have seen from your channel. Amazing work man. I’ll check out others too for sure. I have just purchased MFS. How did you add navigraph charts on this and how do you smoothly transition the camera from cockpit to MCDU and to various instruments? Is there any setup video of yours that I can checkout? Please do tell buddy. Thanks :)
Dear Captain! I would like to ask how to program a waypoint into the MCDU if you are requesting ATC hold over a waypoint that is not in the flight plan. Also, how do I return to the next waypoint in the original flight plan when exiting the holding. In Budapest (LHBP), there is such a hold at the ALZUR waypoint, which is not affected by the arrival procedure, but ATC can hold over ALZUR. I apologize for my poor English and thank you for your reply.
Hi @320 Sim Pilot! Thanks for this video. Unfortunately for me it still seems like Holdings are not implemented into my FlyByWire A32NX. Which version are you running? Stable 0.7.4 or development? For me it seems like in none of these versions the holidngs are implemented?
how do you enter transitions for arrivals as well as stars? ie when I fly into Paris from london, BIBA9W is my STAR, I enter MOPAR as my via but there is no way to select MOPAR6W transition :(
So tried the hold in the inibuilds 320neo v2 but i hit the im exit but brought me to another screen on the fmc and couldnt exit the hold just did the direct to point but is there a way to get out of a hold that you know of on the inibuilds v2 thanks

Captain could you please do a tutorial for communication what to say and how to respond and what to expect
what a coincidence, I flew into Fiumicino last week. Another great tutorial. Looking forward to trying the hold function. Enjoy the rest of the day!

Been there. Doing manual holdings with varying wind conditions is a fine challenge

Thank you so much for all your great tutorials. Very well explained and for the most part, easily understood.
YEP, one time we were over northern PA and we had to hold in IMC, by the time we landed we had about 9 full sick bags.

Awesome Tutorial Captain, cheers for that! Subscribed ;-)
Great stuff. Thanks for putting this together.
Thx captain for that very interesting tutorial.
Brilliantly explained. Thank you 👍
Again, thank you SO much, cheers!
Thnx! Very good and really usefull tutorial!
Fantastic - just what I needed! - Can you explain TOGA use on take off and go round please?
Gatwick controllers breathe a sigh of relief! Haha

And presumably being told by ATC to fly direct to "xxx" whilst in the hold will also automatically cancel the hold.
for those who want to practice it on VATSIM: fly to LSZH on a Tuesday evening, holds are to be expected quiet for sure (e. g. AKINI or RILAX hold)
yup, always busy into LSZH on a Tuesday! Also, any time they open Heathrow, on VATSIM, the entire planet wants to fly in!
will you update the A320NX cold and dark startup?
Thanks just subbed, will this work with the fenix a320?
Thank you 😊

16:05 is it using reshade or something? or just in game settings i wonder
when flying the FLATI3 arr to KDEN the holds dont state altitude just the restrictions on the STAR, so whats my altitude and speed
I got stuck in a hold with the fenix the other day will this be the same ?

I want to get into VATSIM and want to familiarise myself with how to do this stuff incase ATC requests so I thank you a lot
Standard holds are to the right.
i was approaching into gatwick and atc requested me to hold. but i didnt know how. so i got a mean statement from atc. :(
in 70% it performs orbits instead of holdings in my case and autopilot switches off... but cool feature any case. just need to keep eyes on it.
What if there’s no speed limit in the charts?
Does this also work on the development version of the A32NX?
It's only in the experimental version at the moment.
Good
which mods are you using?
Thanks! hopefully I never have to use this feature!
Is it in dev?
Savez-vous si ce type de vidéo (explications par un vrai pilote Airbus) existe aussi en français ? Merci
