For you mystery shawl I think you should take your favourites to your wardrobe and see what you would wear it with and that might help you choose. Love the soft pink as the main colour to go with any of the dark.

The dark brown, pale pink combo would look amazing with a mossy/sage green accent.

Hi! Would your husband wear a sweater vest? That would at least be a quicker knit. Also, what about knitting with sparkle thread and mohair for your daughter's (the Grocery Girls just showed their sparkle sweaters earlier today and 😍)? Lastly, what about adding one of the burgundy colors to the brown pink combo? Or even an olive green maybe? Whatever you pick, it will look amazing!

I totally understand re responding to comments! I often feel the same- feel awkward posting a new video when I’ve not replied to all the past video comments🤔 Great idea to dye you own mkal yarns, I was happy I could shop my stash for all but 1. Have fun knitting & possibly vlogging !

I laughed out loud when I saw your fix for your swift. When you were talking about the thingie breaking, I was wondering, “How is it still upright?” If it helps, I have a Stanwood swift and the “peg” is about 3” long (just the screw part) and about 1/2” across. Measured around it’s about 2”. It seems smaller than yours. As far as the KAL, I like the browns and purples that you showed as options. There is a Twists & Turns swatch chatter thread in Ravelry. People are knitting swatches with their potential colors. I found that really helpful, and I think it would work well for you with the variety of minis you have!

    Hi Karen,
    Great to see you.
I love your Renunculus, the color is so pretty.
You might want to check out a pattern by Max the Knitter, for your husband's sweater.
It's not easy to pick out color combos when you don't know how they are going to be arranged. Your yarn dying is very good, your fades are perfect.
    Good luck on the KAL.
    Take care

I started Stephen Wests MKAL last year using my own color choices and never finished it because I didn't really like how my colors worked together in that shawl. So, this year I bought one of his kits (cranberry/wine, soft rose with a gray accent color).Love the colors, hope I'll love the pattern. I like your pale pink with the grays or the browns.

Would not recommend asking LYS to “spot” you a replacement pin for the swift. Manufacturers do not “replace” unless it is a defective unit, which then the store has to buy and wait for a credit to their account.
The right thing to do is to explain the pin has broken and if you are able to order a replacement.

I am also doing the West Knits MKAL. I am going to use some crazy colors - bright pink, lilac purple and orange as the pop. I think you should go with the brown and tan with a pink pop, I love those colors together. I think you should tell your husband that you want to knit him a sweater so he can help choose the pattern and the yarn and also try it on as you knit it. Happy Knitting, love your podcast!

How about the grey yarn with the blue as a pop.

Hi Karen! I love your podcast! I was smiling throughout your conversation about choosing colours for the west knits mkal - I have been ridiculous this year! Last year, I did get a kit, but I ended up not loving it, so this year I was determined to choose from stash. I have made about ten swatches! Because each time I put yarn together in cakes or in their skeins and then swatch, I haven't loved the combinations I thought I would... As of yesterday, I Think I have two options that I'll be happy enough with. But, like you say, who knows what I'll think tomorrow morning! I think part of the fun of this MKALis the build up to it, and all the chat about what yarns we will all use.
For me, I love your light pink, either with the browns, or with the grass. Gorgeous dyeing! Thank you for sharing your time - I always enjoy your show! X Ros X

Such a pleasure to see you pop up in my feed. I have always wanted to knit Joji's cardigan with the fingering and mohair "Elton" cardigan. I think it looks a bit dressier.

As usual, your video has made me smile! I share your pain in choosing colors for the SWMKAL. I did go to a yarn store but it has a small selection so choosing wasn’t too bad. I was literally driving out of the parking lot and changed my mind, went back and bought one more skein so I have 3 choices for main , contrast and accent. All 3 colors work in each spot. Every day I stare at them and change my mind. I’m hoping the first clue will help me decide how to arrange my six skeins!
    Love the Mrs Dalloway solution!
How about purples with the light gray as an accent ? Or your burgundies with light pink or either gray accent? Brown and light pink with burgundy accent? So many good choices!! Good luck😁

I bought a starter kit from Dharma Trading Company that had 3 primary colors, black, and some citric acid. It's pretty reasonable and fun to play around with.

I cannot wait to see the colors you dye up for the MKAL. I don't know if your girls are into dinosaurs as well as unicorns but if so I just stumbled across the fossil frenzy tee (and jr. size) and want to cast that on for my nephew after my twists and turns is cast off. To me its fancy and fun. Cant wait to see what you decide on your husband's sweater or if he gets one. I have been grappling with the same thing for over a year and instead just knit baby clothes 🤗 also, I'm not going to say it... but nina is having a sale this weekend nearly 20% off and you could ask about your swift and maybe pick up an accent color and hand dye the rest🤷‍♀️ but I would never suggest go to the yarn store if you are trying to avoid it. Good luck! And enjoy soon to be fall

So glad i found your podcast. I did the same thing to pick my colors for the mkal. I wound a bunch of minis off of a skein and experimented with dyes. Already had an idea of what i wanted, so i was mostly trying to get the right colors and speckles. Love your choices!

    • @knotfancyknitter

What colors did you choose? I change my mind every day it seems!

    • @knittyweeza
      @knittyweeza 2 года назад

@@knotfancyknitter i chose a tonal gray/black for my first color. I did a black and raspberry speckle for my contrast. And i chose a raspberry for my pop. I might still change my mind, but after doing brighter colors for last year's mkal and barely wearing it, i wanted this one to be more neutral. I like your browns and pink.
