I wonder if you saw how Jenny at Future Fibre dealt with a similar problem with a flimsy polo neck? It’s on her Tuileries Polo that she showed in her last podcast, about 15 minutes in. I think she crocheted a chain stitch around the neckline and it added stability and stopped it from sagging. Maybe you could try that on yours x
I'm glad you shared that about the cabled my favourite things jumper. I've often looked at it and been put off by the weird shoulder line/arm but then wondered if I was making problems that aren't there because other than that, it is beautiful.
I'm glad I could de-influence you on that one. I've heard her newest 'jacket' and another sweater have the same cables but another fit, maybe that's an alternative for you?
Agree with you. The shoulder construction is just off and it causes an odd fit that had the cables pulling from the back. I think the trapezoid is just too deep probably because the design feature at the back shoulder was too wide - I had to abandon the project after completing the back. The sleeve depth is generally shallow (seen in sweater no 11 comments) and that makes the issue more noticeable. I knit sweater no 23 and I really liked it - but that was after adding mods to the neckline and increasing the armhole depth. Bönan by Jarbo is very similar - fits well, well written and it's free.
Great collection, and I’m sorry that you aren’t getting more compliments on your Alpenglow - it is gorgeous! 👏 I find that the sweaters I wear most often are not the ones that were more fun or engaging to knit. This is something I’ve been thinking on recently.
Loved this video and reviewing the projects AND the yarn after wear!! The alpine glow is gorgeous it’s like high fashion 80s skier love it! You may have influenced me to buy noro yarn now 😅
I hope you're proud of all the great work you've done even with all the little bits that you're maybe not 100% satisfied with! We always learn in this craft. This video was very entertaining and informative to watch, if you ever want to make one with the tops you've made or any other "genre" I would be glad to watch!
The Edgar Sweater is my first handknit sweater! I definetly agree on the hole-part on the raglan increases. I fear that they'll get bigger over the time. + yes, the cuffs!! I finished the first arm, tried it on, and immediately did not like it (also did not see the flare on the pattern pictures (bought the pattern on the Hobbii website)), I changed from 6.0mm needles down 4.5mm and then down to 3.0mm needles, which gave the cuffs a more "fitted" look in the end.
Heya, about the Maude tee's saggy polo neck, I would definitely try sewing in poppers, I've put poppers in knits in the past and they're super easy to add. The only thing to be mindful of is to not pull on the fabric to pop them open, but pull on the poppers themselves to gently separate them.
Thank you for showing the Sweater Number 15, that was on my list to try. I'm a beginner knitter and I fear that would have made me cry. I agree with you, those sleeves, the placement is not ideal and it does make the sweater wear funny. The sensory issues I'd have with that fit would make me cry after spending so much time making it.
Nice video! I just found your channel and love it. You got yourself a new follower. I am planning my fall knitting and might go for the Caidree cardigan. Its lovely!
This was a helpful review of your sweaters especially since you've had the garments for some time and can how it wears/fits over times. I love the Eva cardigan and have made 3 already - one of my favorite construction and fit. May knit a pullover version either using Poppy tee or Lyon pattern. I started sweater no. 15 but set it aside after the back was done because I something about this pattern felt off. 31:07 and 31:14 clearly shows that the problem is the armhole shaping. I thought it was the neckline and was planning on adding short rows to better shape it, but the armhole issue is clearly visible from this video. Even with short rows added after the sleeve stitches are picked up, I don't think the issue would be solved as it should have been shaped better when knitting the back. I'll try another pattern - maybe sweater no 23 or the recently released Tulip loop sweater. Thanks for the video.
Three eva cardigans, way to go!!! I should make another one too since I wear it so much 😊 Yeah sweater no 15 is kind of a tricky one isn’t it? I think it’s good to spread the word a little bit because it seems like such a beautiful and knitworthy sweater but no one seems to talk about the fit issues 🥲
@@maanknitwear I saw this tip by Cocoknits and how to adjust a pattern for gauge, so all 3 versions of Eva have different gauges/yarn compositions - I love them all. I think the fit works so well for curvier people. On my body, I need a bit more structure than a basic drop shoulder that hangs at my elbows. 😆 Have you looked at Bönan pattern by Jarbo - it's very similar to Sweater No 15, but fits so much better.
Just found your channel and think this was a very informative video, great job. I often feel like you do about some of my knitwear but am hoping things will get better as my knitting improves. I used to have this gorgeous red top that I loved. But every time I wore it people would ask me if I felt ok, or are you sick, you don't look so well, and I was fine!! Turns out I cannot wear red, any shade of red! So, if you don't get compliments when you wear certain things it could be the color doesn't compliment your complexion! So, I pay more attention to color choice now.😊
Oh that’s a great point! Also honestly I think people where I live make less compliments than for example in the US. Whenever I’m visiting family there, I get a bunch of compliments. Whereas in the Netherlands people just don’t say anything 🥲😭😂
you do beautiful work! i'm with you on the don't-do-prov-CO on a neckline--some of my round yoke sweaters have drooped bc i used the prov CO--instead of crochet, i just ran a line of yarn around the back neck, which helped. also not crazy abt dropped shoulders, at least for petite me. i like your informative video style 🙂
Love your critique of your sweaters and one solution for your Maude sweater is snaps. I saw the designer use it for the Darling cardigan - check it out.
Maude Tee Sweater. I have thought about sewing down a ribbon along the neck line, that's visible but pretty. I have notice sezane does this along the button ban of knits for stability
Wow, this video was so informative. ❤ And also very validating, ahaha--I'm currently making the Petite Knit Zipper Sweater in Noro Silk Garden Sock Solo and Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk! 😅
Oooooh that's going to be lovely! I just got a new Noro yarn (Kakigori) and was debating making the Zipper Sweater too!! Would love to see how yours turns out! xx
Great reviews!! So helpful in planning future knits and yarn choices. For your Maude, have you considered putting snaps on it, since you don’t have button holes?
@@maanknitwear you’re welcome! I put some on a buttonless cardigan that I never wore because I hated the way it flopped open awkwardly. Now I wear it all the time. And I’ve intentionally put snaps instead of buttons on a few since then. I hope you love it!
I’d try fixing that polo by adding a facing of 1” Gris grain ribbon in a color that really blends in. That should give structure and if done meticulously, should look really good. (Lots and lots of tiny hand stitches..)Since the sweater is really a problem, it’s worth trying to save it, and no risk with stitching on ribbon.
Cut the rib color out of that polo sweater just making sure u rescue enough to knit either the double knit edge where the zipper would be or a ribbed edge all the way around the neck so the sweater would be a V neck instead.
I wonder, your personal creation, I think it might turn very differently if you used a 50 % linen, 50 % cotton yarn. The calculations for the V-neck seem to be quite off, but I really like the pattern stitch. With a different yarn and a narrower V-neck, there's quite a potential here !
I think the problem with the Maude is the placket is too long to be left open. I made it too without buttons, but shortened the placket and joined in the round earlier. Maybe you can experiment with sewing a button on the bottom joining the two sides permanently. If you like the look, then you could add a couple other buttons just for decoration. No one will know you omitted the buttonholes😊
I love the colour work sweater. While all your work is very nice, I am wondering why you decide to have them sooo short? I think, they all would climb from great…. to: outstanding, when they would be a little bit longer.
Omg girl it was a few years ago now but it was scandalous haha 🫖 WAK did a collab with zara selling kits to make your own crochet pieces for $50 while also selling fast fashion crochet pieces for very cheap so underpaying their (sweat shop) workers. The craft community got super mad that WAK was going for an easy cash grab with a company that didnt align with the values that WAK said they had. So basically they got cancelled after that and crafters felt bad using their yarn and promoting them and then all of a sudden their yarn wasn’t as big as it was before that

Well thanks to you, I added the Eva Cardigan and the other one by Caidree to my Ravelry cart 😅!
Great review

So glad to hear that! On Thursday my fall knitting plans video will be out too ☺️☺️
I need to knit more cardigans too.
Thank you so much for your honest opinions! It’s really appreciated. And are you sure you don’t want to do a pattern for the Milky Way V neck????? 😊

Add some fun color twill tape to the inside edges of the Maude tee to add structure, or you could add a zipper
