- We will be finding out the gender of our baby in 6 weeks, and we can't wait to see if baby will be a boy or a girl! We start thinking of good gender reveal ideas that we could do for the holidays, and either Christmas or New Years! Should we wait to find out the gender, or should we take a blood test for the gender? We don't know yet how we will find out, or if we will wait for a surprise gender reveal! Either way, we are so excited for the day when we know what our baby will be!

Do a new year party then at midnight throw the gender confetti
We found out about our first with a Christmas themed gender reveal. We had a Christmas tree with blue and pink lights on it. My sister had us all close our eyes and then on a count of three open them and she had plugged in the blue lights for boy. It was so fun, special, and memorable!

Austin & Jess Vlogs it was! Hobby Lobby had tons of pink and blue Christmas decorations too, so it was easy to make it a Christmas themed gender reveal. Can’t wait to find out what you’re having, congrats!
I say paint your wall a light gray! It will still feel light, airy, and modern while giving the shelves some contrast.
Does anyone else agree that painting the wall would be best?
I want to give you a HUGE THANK YOU... I didn't know what to do with this leftover candy.. I have around 3lbs of candy left over and when you said you were donating them to the troops I googled it and found Operation Graditude ! Thank You ! !
I've seen this thing where you go to a store and pick out a girl and a boy outfit and give them your envelope. They then pack up the outfit of the correct gender and you open it as a Christmas gift in front of your family!!!
I like this idea. Although I say to the blood test so there is no issue like last time.

My suggestion: Paint the central section of the divide wall between your living room and kitchen (where you have your existing shelf, hang your mugs etc) to give you your pop of colour without overwhelming the room (I love colour but I know you love white, so it would be less intense to have that wall painted).
For your dining room wall, have 3 large pictures diagonally - the central one is your favourite wedding photo of just the two of you, the top one of Micah and the bottom one of the new baby (when he she comes - you can put something else in before that if you need it filled). That way they are just 3 key photos that are a statement and which you dont need to feel obliged to change.
You can also add two floating shelves (one longer that the other) top right hand corner if you want to display things, or add some shelves down the side wall
The other thing you could do is hang a really cool large clock there

JESS!!! Long time no talk, but I have so many ideas for your wall! Paint it about the same color as your couch, then the white shelves (the ones you got or different ones) will pop. So either that idea or not sure if you are a fan of it or not but....shiplap! It will add a beautiful extra texture to your wall while still being clean and modern ,and if you want you could even paint that the grey of your couch! Also, I don't know if you can, but move the shelf in the left corner to a different room. I would only have dining room objects in the dining room. Lastly consider updating the light fixture over the table. I just want to show you so many picture ideas! Now I miss taking my interior design classes at Weber State.... :(

Paint the wall! A pop of color is essential to brightening a space up, especially a space with a new deck! Keep the white shelves and use them to contrast whatever color you decide to pick so that you can use them as your decoration holders for different seasons. Don't give up on what you envision for your house. You have to make it yours as you did with the basement! If you could reconfigure and redesign an entire basement, you can surely do one wall! I believe in you! Happy Day :)
I would SOOO paint the banister and the cabinets black, and that would totally change the feel of the space up! All black and white looks so fresh

We found out through the blood test that we are having a little girl! I loved having that moment with my fiance and think it was perfect for us. So excited for however you decide to reveal baby Spomer #2!!!
I think the wall would look good painted a creamy taupe. Then go with a square mirror and the shelves you already bought. You already have an amazing sense of style!!!
I think you guys filming your reaction separately and posting it after your gender reveal with your family would be fun.

If you do a New Years revel. Make the fire works that color. That would be amazing. I think y’all should wait for the revel because I didn’t last time and it is amazing to have that special moment together but I imagine it be even more special with family. Team baby boy 💙

Micah is so adorable! I think you might be surprised at what black shelves would look like on your wall. Every room needs some black! Then you could put something black on the table to tie it together. It could be something as simple as black salt and pepper shakers. I’m sure you could find something cute.

You could paint the wall a middle to light gray and then the shelf’s would be a perfect contrast. And the mirror would show better to. Love watching your channel.
I have a beautiful soft minty green / light teal blue colour on my walls. 🖌 Would recommend that! 🤩 It's very light still and just so pretty and calming!🥰

I think you should pull the colors from the living room into the dining area. You could paint that wall in a grey that matches the couch. Then I would suggest getting rid of the mirror, and hanging a family portrait or portraits in black frames in the center. Then you could put up the shelves around the picture centerpiece, and maybe add some small succulents or small green plants on the shelves. You could also just showcase some holiday knock knacks and decor on the shelves too!
I wish I lived near you to come decorate for you, you are WAY over thinking it!
Other that white...Pick your favorite decoration... what color is it? Do you have several things the same color around the house? Paint the wall that color and put up the white shelves you bought with a better quality mirror. The lay out you did looked nice.

Maybe kinda dark grey on the blue scale paint might work with what you want to do with the kitchen wall. It should help with the white shelves and the mirror idea you have.

Regarding finding out the sex of baby number 2, I think it is such a special time in your lives and it is only going to happen a very small amount of times in your life, that you and Austin find out together, enjoy that moment by yourselves, keep it a secret for a while so that you have that precious knowledge all to yourselves.
It is just so special and precious and something that I think would be lovely for the 2 of you to share for a little while at least. Plus it is something that will only happen a few times in your entire lifetime, so why not share that extra bit of happiness with just each other for a while.
I like the idea of that for you guys or any couple having a baby. Especially in these times where we all share everything with the world on social media etc. Then whenever you feel ready, share the exciting news with your loved ones and after that, with us!! 😉😃
Well, that is just my opinion. But, of course, I can’t wait to find out what you guys are having, as soon as you are ready to share it with us! Even if that happens to be on the day that the baby is born!

I say confetti cannons at midnight on New Year's Eve that are the gender color. But the intamate of just you and Austin finding out seems like it would be sweeterand a little bit more emotional.
She is great at stairs. My husband was deployed during the holidays and they already get a lot of candy in every box. The mirror will look great. You could move the mirror to across from the top of the stairs or above your vanity. Print out one quote and two other prints to go on either side. Let the baby be a surprise it is a great surprise on the delivery day.
That mirror looks like those big mirrors that are in some gas stations where they can see if anyone is stealing 😂 in bummed that it didn't work out.

If you have Santa gender reveal, give micah a build a bear that is the gender color or have santa bring a gift for baby with a stuff animal with a ribbon on it that gives away the gender.
Oh if you wanna make thosr white shelves work. Try making the wall a dark gray paint. Those white shelves will pop.
You could do a christmas ornament gender reveal or a gift for Micah that is blue or pink. That way she can actually play with the gift as well.
you can still dye your hair it wont hurt the baby as long as you are in a well aired area you will be fine i asked my doctor bout it and he said dyeing your hair doesnt go into your blood stream so its fine as long ad its well aired

Find out!! :) Y'all are just a few weeks behind me and we found out at week 16 then again at our anatomy scan it was confirmed. THEN we told family. But finding out together with just the two of us in the ultrasound room was so special.
You guys should have Micah open a present on Christmas and reveal either a teddy bear with a cute pink dress that says "it's a girl" or a teddy bear with a baseball cap and blue polo shirt that says "it's a boy"
New Year’s Eve. You can watch the baby drop instead of the apple. What better way to celebrate 2020.
What I did for my gender reveal: I made it kind of into a game. So I had the bakery make some cup cakes with the frosting being a twist of blue and pink. In the inside, we had pink in some and blues in the others. What ever the gender is, that color would be the dominant one. In my case, I had more pink then blue. It was pretty exciting giving that I had 3 girls already and I was very anxious as every bit their cupcakes into the middle to reveal the color.
Now, I'm a mother of four princesses. Baby #4 is six weeks old.
Paint the wall a deep dark blue, pictures frames in the center or a different mirror, white shelves, shelves that match your table around the pictures.
We paid to have an extra ultrasound for our last baby. We took the video home and watched it with friends and family so we found out all together. We all were watching so closely to see if we could figure it out before they typed the gender. It was so special!!

You can dye your hair while pregnant. I did I asked my dr and they said it was ok. I hope you find out early what you’re having, just get a blood test so there’s no issues/confusion like last time. I’m still guessing boy lol
what about peel and stick wallpaper? you can put it on the wall like a big sticker (no glue needed) and when you wanna change it, it just peels off. :)

You could get each gender as a baby doll and give it to Micah for xmas. That way she would start learning how to treat the new baby.
If you do New Year's you can get these fake champagne bottles that have different colored confetti in them. Have everyone set them off at midnight and boom! Gender reveal

Do you not have a privately owned boutique around you? They can do gender scans as early as 13. But they suggest 16/18 usually ❤️

Im expecting my first and our pregnancies are in sync. I love watching your videos for this reason because I feel like we are on this journey together and I like to see how our symptoms differ or how they are similar. But about the gender, what my bf and I are doing for our gender reveal is that we aren't having a party. We are going to have my midwife write it on a paper in an envelope and we might do something special with it and put it under the tree to reveal with the family on Christmas since Christmas day this year I will be exactly 20 weeks. I had my genetic testing all done at 12 weeks and I wont get the test back for another week cause it does take a while but I did choose to test for gender. Super exciting!!
Update: we got the envelope from the hospital and we were too anxious to find out lol I got us cupcakes and had the lady at the bakery just pump the inside with the color frosting. We were hoping for girl but are having a boy! Still excited either way. Cant wait to see what you're having, Jess!

With Halloween candy, my sister always traded her kids. 50 pieces of candy was a small like 5 dollar toy. That way their dad got guilt free candy and they eat less sugar and are happy about it.

I have had 2 friends that did gender reveals where they didn't know but someone else did and they along with their families found out together. One friend I know it was the couples' mothers who knew. I don't know who knew first and set up the reveal for my other friend. It was neat to see the couple's reactions to their baby's gender along with their family's reaction to them reacting.
My first, we didn't know until she born(27 yrs ago). Second, I think we might have known(24 yrs ago). Our last we found out and told our families(17 yrs ago) that was before this trend of gender reveal parties and such.

Oh wow! I had no idea that a blood test could reveal the gender of the baby. Wow, sounds like a good idea. Here in India we aren't allowed to find out the gender of the baby. It's banned. What about doing pine or natural wood shelves to match your kitchen? I think a huge mirror would make the space look bigger. Big rectangular one.
I haven't been able to find any that are the same color as the rest of the kitchen, otherwise I'd be all for it!

Every sonogram they told my nephew it was going to be a girl, my sister went and was watching while they did it. My sister kept telling them no it’s a boy. The technician said no it’s a girl, I’ve been doing this for years. So we all bought girl stuff. It ended up being a boy like me sister said.

Here’s a method that my grandma has used for years to determine the gender. She has accurately determined about 22 of the 26 grandkids and great nieces and nephews she has.
Take the age you (mom) were when you conceived and add the month when you conceived. If the end total is even it’s a girl, if it’s odd it’s a boy. Test the theory with micah and anyone else you know and I can guarantee it will almost always be accurate !!
There are places that you can pay for gender reveal scans! ...a GREAT IDEA..make a box sleigh...with a HUGE christmas present with balloons inside OR a overstuffed animal of something !!
Lol girl I went to Disneyland for my nephew’s 8th Birthday on November 3rd. They already decked out for Christmas. Where we live in Brea California, there was a big pumpkin outside the movie theater, not it’s a Christmas tree. November 1st the tree went up hahahaha.
I would put gender reveal in a gift that both you open before doing reveal for family.
Get the anatomy scan at 18 or 19 weeks...you can use a 3rd party (aka not your doctor)...then you can still do the gender reveal on Christmas. It's a thought. At least you didn't find out you were pregnant and the gender the same night! 🤣🤣🤣 Yup...13+ years ago. Good story now--not so much then. It was more shock and disbelief. 🤣🤣🤣 Either way--this kiddo will be super cute just like Big Sis Micah! 💗

My husband and I knew both times before everyone else and then did Gender Reveals for our family and friends. For baby #3 my sister wants to do a surprise Gender Reveal for us, but I don't know yet what I want to do.

When I had my kids, they didn't do ultrasounds. They were all a surprise. Especially when they all came four to six weeks early.

I usually procrastinate to put up Christmas decorations the 1st or 2nd week of December. But in 9 days i am having surgery and dont know if i will have energy to put the decorations outside in December so i did all of mine this weekend
