Star Citizen added an 80 Missile Tank?!

- Star Citizen- The Tumbril Storm and the Tumbril Storm AA. Honestly, vehicle releases like this get me excited for future org gameplay. Can you imagine locking down a location with a fleet of these? Oh and if you didn't know the Tumbril Storm AA has over 60 missiles, that's pretty insane.

You can tell he's played the game for a really long time when you see how far he steps back each time he opens up a door
Why is that?
@@user-bo3gm5ey9mprobably an old glitch
@@user-bo3gm5ey9m star citizen doors are very very glitchy, and you can often get stuck, glitched, or killed by them if you aren’t careful.
😂😂😂 titan ptsd
I miss my PC tbh I would love to play this game but my house got broke into and lost my PC among other things 😢
At first I was like "A missile tank? doesn't sound like a lot of fun, just fun until you run out of missiles."
But then I was like, "EIGHTY MISSILES?!?!"
Do you mean squinty mc squint tank?
would be cool if CIG actually implements a sort of logistics system, where you have a large box of missiles, then you just sit out on a spot, and only have to get out to ressuply.
@@snowfury406eventually we are supposed to be able to rearm everything manually without having to land at a station and use an app. Best eta for that though is probably Soon/TM though.
This tank has like, absolutely no suspension. The slightest bump really sends you up. I guess they just want to add this into the game to test the weapons and whatnot but I hope they add suspension to this tank cause it does seem jarring how stiff it is when moving around.
its not the tank, its the relationship between the tank and the ground thats the problem right now. Objects arent colliding properly. That will be smoothed eventually.
it's the fuckin tank dude@@Dreamer66617
From my understanding, ships and tanks and other armored vehicles will eventually be more or entirely resistant to certain small-arms fire. Soooo it will likely be a heck of a lot better than getting killed by the first guy who has a common rifle.
Once you can lock onto ground targets, that MLRS tank is going to slap
It's an anti air tank. Not sure if that is actually planned, but let's see. I already like it so far.
Especially if it keeps bouncing into the air over every pebble...
I believe they said it was intended to lock onto ground targets too
@@vorpalrobot It's literally called "Tumrbil Storm AA". It's meant for just Anti-Air. Ground targets don't have the HP to withstand even a few S1 Missiles, it would destroy the meta.
As far as I'm aware you already can bur you have to have the correct missile type.
Tanks jump when they're eager to go out for spin. Could use more armor in front of driver. Nice firepower, especially if there are several in the battle
I appreciate that you include all the little issues like choppy framerate, keybinds, and jittery tank to show that this game is still in alpha. So many channels cover this game and make it look so much more polished than it really is.
I imagine the bouncing is due to a suspension issue. It feels like those track nacelles(?) should all individually move
It's a cool vehicle, but my main issue is the size vs firepower and utility. IMO the AA variant should have a small anti-personnel turret for close range defence. The original should have a bigger turret with 180 rotation, and that can open the floor for an actual compact IFV style vehicle which would bring more capability by fitting on smaller ships, without making the original storm obsolete.
the Storm has a 360 degree rotation.. people don't understand you can "deploy" the turret and remote access it from the pilotseat :)
@@Vallery_ It needs it at all times. Having to stop then deploy it will just get you killed as you're giving up the vehicles main advantage of mobility.
@@MrEsphoenix you can drive while in turret view in both Storm variants
@@greed_xiii I never said otherwise
@@MrEsphoenix I was addressing your concern about stopping to enter the turret, since you can drive in turret view so I'm not sure what else you meant about the Storm giving up mobility
when i heard the wub wub wub wub wub, when you turned the tank on, all i thought about was transformers, transforming, also i feel they should add in a tank carrier ship like the pelican that halo has, where they had a tank attached to the end of it and can be dropped
Love what this game is becoming but man the vehicle code is rough right now. The way it handles looks like some super Nintendo level stuff :)
Let's clarify some > The flight model for flying vehicles is more or less functional minus some polishing; the drive model for the ground vehicles has always been secondary since the game is primarily a space sim.
This was admitted to by CIG, that the initial Storm launch is not quite 100% done for vehicle physics stuff, and not *all* the ground vehicles yet have the new code. Those that do handle a lot better, and they are still dialing it all in.
@@uberfu"I thought this game happened in space?"
LITERALLY EVERYTHING IS IN SPACE, MORTY ;)
7:30 I totally feel that I also set my keybinds up a certain way and when I leave after a patch or two and come back I crash my ships leaving the hanger
The fact that the Tumbril (Apparrently?) Fits in the Connie series has already made me mega happy. Being a Taurus owner, the last update for me was amazing. I can finally use my Tether beam AND Jam a light tank in my Cargo hold? F*** yeah!
I have some sorry news to give you but no the storm infact does not fit inside the connie, atleast not without being at a serious risk of getting a case of the booms
Once Pyro is available you should do a custom battle with players (like a mini war game) and the use of the tanks, fighters and bombers are available. Plus a full on ground assault. Or make it a Capture the Base/Flag event
so, in my experience in arena commander with the storm turret, its thrives in team combat, royale not so much but used in a team it is very useful as a support role
What would make the AA version even better is if they added rockets you could use instead that have a drop, so you could use it as mobile artillery against ground targets
Those rockets already exist; dumbfire rocket pods.
For both tanks you missed the "enter turret" button on the dash.
Frankly, I couldn't believe that myself. Kept waiting and waiting .... Oh well.
Thank you, this was a very cheerful and amazing video. Lifted my spirit... aaaand, we get to see a new tank.
the driving felt like its made of plastic its so bouncy and light hope they fix it, i really want to like this tank
i was hopping the each track enclosure would be on suspension swivel or compression, hopefully they'll improve it
Nah you're absolutely right about the keybinds though. It's immensely annoying, especially when I spent hours at times tweaking the perfect setup (for me) which is the least enjoyable part of this immense game, only to look forward to the latest patch and then realise that every hour I've spent honing the controls has been completely reset ... Imagine if every time you turned your phone on it factory reset..! 🤬
Nod called, they are looking for their tonk.
Beautiful vehicle, my favorite so far.
Is there a way I can adjust the hud when I put on the helmet? I have this strange issue where when I put on the helmet the hud elements to the corner of my screen doesn't stay within my field of view, it's partially out of view and idk how to fix it
Great fun for outposts but took ages & couldn't use the front-right box rack.
They look great but they don't drive well & get stuck on terrain pretty easily, if you're not careful. Also, remote turret view helps.
Apparently your axies might get messed up if you pull out your sticks from their USB ports.
The only 2 times I had to redo my keybinds was once when I changed from a thrustmaster t 16000 m to a virpil Constellation, and when they reworked a huge part of their flight setup. So my settings stayed the same since basically 3.13.
In the future this will be the only game.. amazing
I remember saying that around 10yrs ago and I’m still hoping. If they could deliver the entire experience with huge player numbers on the server then it would be one game to rule them all.
In 2035 when it becomes obsolete, maybe
The worst keybind change was them changing C from cruise control to toggling decoupled mode. Taking off from a planet, I get up to speed, press C and tune out - then realize I'm falling backwards down to the planet...
The combined arms battles will be legendary. What we have in Planetside 2 right now, but with way better graphics.
fyi: the base storm turret can rotate 360° when in remote turret. Also the weapon got 5km range and 1732 sustained dps (2917 burst). Its not just a S3 repeater, its a S3 repeater on crack.
Problem is the armor systems are in the game yet, so things are just balls of HP, which the guns deplete at rather constant rates.
Once armor is in proper we will have DR and weapons with varying effects. Also will REALLY affect the different ships out there. Drake and MISC aren't known for armor for example, wile RSI leans into it harder than the shield tech (MISC is kinda the opposite)
I tried bringing these tanks in a bounty hunting mission and I found it to be quite bouncy, even with little rocks. There must be something wrong in the code for the suspension.
They updated all of the ground vehicle physics and a bit of the code for everything is quite broken right now, it needs a bit of fixing. Right now for some reason parked vehicles will sometimes move on their own inside cargo bays which can be annoying.
I've noticed that HOTAS/HOSAS keybinds don't seem to change with patches. I think (I am using a premade setup so haven't actually changed anything yet) that those keybinds actually bind the joystick buttons to the function, rather than the keyboard button, so as long as the function doesn't change, the joystick buttons don't either.
must have a killer sound system in those tanks lol. It's all about that BASE!!!
How you getting normal frames at NB now with IAE? Mine was ranging 0.2 - 5
Reminds me of the Sprut, it's a light tank with the weaponry to take out a lot of other tanks but has to hope they don't shoot back😂😂
8+8=16x2=32 size 1 missiles on the urban camo one! btw the key binds reset when you delete USER folder which they ask you to do when theres a patch or your have bugs! I stopped starting NB cause obviously the event at MT was causing client crashes and 30k's so, I don't it because you can't take your helmet off outside but I've had to move to Hurston just for November until the event ends I had 12-15 crashes on Monday because of the lag at MT, then i'll probably go back when the event & free flight has ended because MT number one it's home to me! but I feel like I was having these crashes on MT before the event so i'm unsure! I got a great rig a Rog Strix 4070Ti OC ED! (oced further by gpu tweak), 40GB of DDR4 3200Mhz RAM, Ry5 5600X with some grizzly thermal and a artic Esports DUO fan heatsink block in red and black to cool it with a Rog Strix Hyperion case!
I'd like to preface I am not rich just really patient I get 40 every 2 weeks the gpu took me 6-8 months the pc case took me 4 (but only cause the delivery didn't ship the first time for some reason) the ram were relatively cheap in comparison and I skimped out a while back as a make do for the motherboard and got the a520m-k prime but only because in 2025 I intend to see how well the next gen am5 cpu and motherboards do and see if they overcome the issues that plagued the the 1st gen am5 cpu's and motherboards... if i'm gonna spend anything over £300 on a cpu or mb then I wanna make sure it's not gonna have a cascade failure i'm not rich or poor just broke most the time except for that £40 every 2 weeks spare that doesn't go to food and drink and other needs, it's more than some people have!
but theres plenty of people with my budget who would say we can't have those things we can't afford them... and I call those people... impatient!
I like playing the long game I wouldn't recommend the high end rog gear for an enthusiast gamer who's just looking to game theres cheaper builds but I make youtube videos on another channel and the editing and gaming power is important to me it make more sense as a creator why i'd get them also I play in 4k on star citizen sometimes I get just above 40fps sometimes I get 50-130fps!
but since this event i've been getting more concistently 30-50+fps on the good servers and anywhere between 1fps and 30fps on the bad ones! but the moment I took off from micro and left the mt system heading for hurston my fps jumped (though it did sadly drop again at loreville so once i'm done getting amenities i'm off to get a bit a cargo missions in the syulen this is the first time i've had stable gameplay without any crashes in half a year maybe more since at leastin 3.19 started)
I agree with keybindings. Lots of times my HOTAS forward turns into backward and have to spend time to reverse it
is there no turret view for either tank? also it seems weird that the missle rack on the missle tank is stationairy. would be pretty sick if the missle rack could be raised and then rotated/aimed
The detailing in the crevasses and underneath are so that you have something to look at and admire when the tank runs you over. Which WILL happen.
1:30 I think the tank is also excited to see the owner 😂
The Storm is bouncing because it is just that excited to see you!
I absolutely LOVE the music of MicroTech. It is so epic.
If you had enough people in your game, you could potentially create your own sci fi series utilizing the game and its ever expanding mechanics as tools for some of the most epic shots around
"Potentially."
SC in a nutshell.
@@_Jay_Maker_ HOW DARE YOU
Angone getting Cyberpunk2077 vibes from Star Citizen lately??
This made me literally think of the tank from that game.
would live it if they worked on the procedural generation of the rocks or however theyve seeded them, theres just waaaaay to many EVERYWHERE, would be nice if there were areas with less so you could just drive and not worry about being bounced into outer space
I seems you pressed a button to close and open everything on the exterior, what button would that be?
You have to set up your own key binds for it in the settings.
@@775Kodiac ohh ok thanks
Very impressive. It must have cost hundreds of manhours from concept to just that one tank.
I think the frame drops are the product of this patch. My PC is brand new with beefy specs and I had some weird lag yesterday when I was playing. Also had some invisible asteroids. I'm told thats a shader issue so I deleted the cache. Hopefully they fix whatever is causing it.
Seen a few vids of these being driven. CIG need to fix how vehicles handle asap.
It's been an issue since the beginning. I don't think they know how to.
Like with the keybinds I pressed c I expected for it to go into cruise control but then it went into like a self propelled mode or smthn where it doesnt slow down unless I press the button again.
wish the damn cap for distance on ammo did not exist would be cool to lob the missiles like an actual mlrs system
i regularly use ground vehicles for all bunker missions, and run down outposts missions. i park about 2 K away so drop ship can't shoot at my transport ship.
doing bunkers i'm normal in the Tank or Cyclones, or the STV cus i can carry box's in them. Hurston mostly
now all we need is a hammerhead variant with 333 size 2 missiles and an emp to make players really want to use up all of those missile deterrents lol. they just need to adjust flares so all 8 missiles you shoot dont get distracted by one ship flare. the turreted version needs dual turrets on top tbh
RIP Ballista? Granted, the other AA ground vehicles have *bigger* missiles and will be better for use against bigger ships, but this thing is gonna absolutely own the skies against light to medium fighters.
Olli big fan of your work. I love star citizen you just got a new PC if I can ask. May I have the old one.
Cool designs. Though i dont know if they're super practical. Having a quad tread design makes the vehicle more vulnerable to getting tracked. Its always better to just have two treads. Id want somthing of a ifv in this game. a fairly well armed but still mobile armored transport vehicle on the ground.
This tank looks absolutely magnificent
Love the new tanks, and yes the change in keybinds are really annoying, everytime theres an update i now go to the keybind menu and try and understand what all changed and try to change it back to what im used to using.
Do a tank wars event where everybody brings these tanks to blow eachother up you can have to seperate locations one out open in a green field like this and the other in a snow biome with preferably strategically placed hills for a traditional king of the hill situation! free for all or maybe use the skins to make teams!
it'd be awesome if you had an assistant to record with, like a guy flying around in an arrow for you to shoot at or something. pretty sure hundreds of people, myself included, would do it free of charge
i want to see a troop carrier version of this too
Going to go with the BMP style and just sit them on the sides
Now CIG needs to relook at the Cyclone AA with its 2 missiles, and give it 8 S1's
Last night we fired almost all missiles into an M2 result not even a scratch.
Day 4 IAE coming out soon?
Reminds me of The ThunderTank from TheThundercats
Kind of reminds of me of the C&C Renegade Nod Stealth tank.
It's funny that such a tiny tank has space for 80 frigging missiles. Meanwhile the 890 Jump, the biggest ship currently in the game at 200m length only has space for 8 missiles in each turret!
Imagin a giant clan ship 150 players doing Misson all at once with one ship 50 tanks air defence 50 air ships 25 transport it will be so awesome
I'm not fed up with you saying "Oh damn dat looks good... freaking postcard what de hek"!!!!
ground handling is still balls
Even though its AA, it would be nice to be able to load this up with dumb rockets and use it as a rocket MLRS vs a base or other poi
The Storm is jumping with joy of the opportunity to blow stuff up.....
I'm building a new PC. I was thinking about going full AMD for a change with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and the RX 7800 XT. The reason i was thinking AMD is because the Nvidia RTX cards are way over priced. The RX 7800 XT is basically an RTX 4070 but £100 cheaper. Out of curiosity, what's your GPU and CPU ?
Looks like a UN version of the Halo Scorpion tank.
If they get some subterranean bases in game, ground attack would be the only real option. Tanks will be useful then, we wouldn't need Pyro.
Everyones comparing the storm to the nova when it should be compared to the cyclone aa, centurion, and ballista which i believe the storm is an upgrade to all these. Instead of bringing a ton of centurion and ballistas to lock down an area all youll probably need is two storms and a ballista. And really the ballista for extra deterance because no ones gonna wanna mess with that
If it wasn't like trying to drive a helium balloon, it could be cool.
I fully agree on the keybind thing.
It's bouncing because they have wild physics in this game, wild with issues. And they kinda need to handle it soon, makes me crazy that they leave such a big problem for so long. Making me thing they can't fix them. Because everything is so heavy, the less heavy things slides and jitters around and getting tossed like it's cardboard by heavier things. So unrealistic and totally idiotic :D
My complaints with the Storm. Low armored, it slides.. Belts shouldn't slide. It's got a VERY low mid section, so stones and terrain will stop and flip you, easy.. Turret should go 360 around the tank, like a normal tanks cannon, eventho this is a turret. Does the missile lock on, or not? Hope they do!
Sounds like a transformer when it powers up
Love the design but I wish the four independent treads would move independently to the terrain. Kinda looks awkward all stiff, looks like a mini halo scorpion tank.
We need an APC or MRAP in game.
10:44 well, a light tank
Yes, don't change the key bindings!
I wish I could afford a pc to get star citizen. It's basically the one game I've always dreamed of playing
You're right both tanks are so Halo!!
did olli just suggest a quantum inhibition for ground vehicles? olli write to cig you get hired as you fit right there with roc DS.
I hope they make the missiles be able to be used as rocket artillery, I just want space Katyusha😅
Nod stealth tank 😎
Came back after a long break of sc and the new keybinds screwed me over good 😂
Tank battles!!!😊
Can we have rocket pod for cheap rocket bombardment?
When takes startsup: Transformers moment
Star Citizen really needs to work on their tank and terrain physics.
Didn't build your new PC by hand? :P
a tank with its vital parts that in the future( in 40k or more) will require either fixing or replacing is place at the sides.....anyway is it possible to put that tank on top of a aircraft carrier class ships? if so BAM extra turret
Tumbril Storm looks science-fantasy cool, with nice lines, but otherwise... shrugs. At this point I"m obvs expecting slavish devotion to rule of cool, and not hard science fiction from SC. But from an AFV design perspective, putting components and access compartments on the tread outriggers increases mass, volume, and more mass for armor due to the increased volume -- all of which would make the outriggers heavier, requiring sturdier suspension arm thingies which will already be eye-wateringly complex, which again increases mass, and so on. If you're gonna put tracks on outriggers, gotta keep it simple, compact, robust with as much of the electronics and mechanicals on the main chassis as possible. Each outrigger should be designed to be somewhat redundant, so that the vehicle can hope to survive losing 1 of the 4 outriggers.
Actually, "simple, compact, robust" applies in general to AFV design b/c any volume increase adds significantly to armor surface area requirements and mass. This is an age-old AFV design challenge with compromising/balancing volume, mass, power (the latter being expressed variously as mobility and/or firepower or other capabilities like active protection etc) for a given level of tech development.
But a hard-science low-polygon slab of necessarily flat composite armor surfaces (or even curved superscience composite armor surfaces) visually reflecting the design choices of the past century of AFV design would feel like too much of a copout and throwback to Battlezone, so gratuitous complexity it is to justify the production budget. :P
You are supposed to delete your user and shader folders after every big patch anyway. Maybe copy the keybinds over though.
we are launching ICBMs with this one
does it come in black though? asking for a friend in Gotham
