The coconut chicken you eat is made from black-bone chickens, which have black bones and skin. Chinese people generally believe that they have higher nutritional value and are more expensive. The green bottled drink you drink is mung bean soup, which is simply a soup made from mung beans. Basically, most Chinese people drink it in the summer. It is considered by traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and most older Chinese people to be the best drink to relieve summer heat. As for scientific evidence, it seems that mung bean soup can quickly replenish electrolytes.

The chicken is black because of its species. Its name is Silkie (烏雞) or Chinese silk chicken.
Also, the fish that you eat is pickled fish (酸菜魚), which is not Cantonese food, it is the food from middle China like Sichuan or Chongqing.
It is putting pickled vegetables and chilli to make the soup and boiling the fish for a few seconds.

The essence of coconut black chicken soup is the soup, not the chicken. The chicken is relatively poor and not tasty, but the soup is delicious. The focus is on soup, which is a food culture in Cantonese cuisine. Because after a long period of cooking of black-bone chicken, all the nutrients have entered the soup, so Cantonese people like to drink soup. Let me summarize what you ate this time.
1, The wonton is a typical Guangzhou breakfast, but you should try the rice noodle roll and porridge. You can find a local to ask and you will know where to find the breakfast shops selling rice noodle roll and porridge.
2, There is nothing to say about the bakery, it is just a normal shop.
3, The first kind of cake you ate should be called Jiangxiang cake, which is not a local food in Guangzhou, it should be from Hubei.
4, The soup shop you went to is a very traditional Guangzhou stew. The coconut chicken you drank is actually a new product. You should actually try the stewed pigeon. The black-bone chicken is similar to ordinary chicken, but their skin and bones are black. Guangdong people believe that black-bone chicken has more nutrients than ordinary chicken.
5, The desserts you ate were double skin milk and snow mei niang. Snow mei niang is a relatively new dessert,Its skin is cold and can be filled with any fruit fillings.
6, The drink is called green bean paste, which is made by boiling green beans very soft and then turning them into a drink similar to smoothie. In Guangdong, because the weather is very hot, and Chinese medicine believes that mung beans can cool down, mung bean paste is also a very popular drink or dessert.
7, This is called scallion pancake, which is not one of the traditional foods in Guangzhou.
    8. The restaurant you went to is actually a Sichuan restaurant. Of the two dishes you ordered, the fish is the famous Sichuan pickled fish, and the spare ribs are the traditional Guangzhou flavor of garlic-flavored ribs.
9, The desserts you ate at the end are typical Guangzhou desserts.
In summary, you haven't really touched the food in Guangzhou. I strongly recommend that you find a local to take you to eat. Guangzhou's food includes but is not limited to: rice noodle rolls, porridge, fish skin, beef brisket, roast goose, white-cut chicken, salt-baked chicken, etc.

Can't wait for your food journey in Chengdu XD. Though hotpot is most famous food of Sichuan province, the "Affordable Restaurants" are the real must-go in Chengdu, which is similar in Guangzhou. Especially, don't miss the special pig-gut restraurants, you can only find them in Sichuan. 曹氏肥肠(Cao's pig-gut, cao's fei tzang)is one of the hottest pig-gut restraurants in Chengdu. There is braised(红烧,hong sao)/steamed(粉蒸, fen zen)/salad(凉拌, liang ban) pig-gut/beef/chicken. After having a feast of pig-gut, some noodles in 张氏海味面(Zhang's Seafood noodle, zhang's hai wei mian) is a good choice. These two restaurants are just neighbours. You may have 3 small portions of 怪味面(guai wei mian, special noddle)+海味面+素椒面(su jiao mian, ground meat sauce noodle).

If you have plans to come to China next time, I really recommend you to visit Qingdao, which is a coastal city with a very comfortable climate. Secondly, this city was once occupied by the German army in history, so there are a lot of German buildings in this place, and the sewage system of the whole city has always been designed by Germans. I see you have tasted Tsingtao beer, Tsingtao is the birthplace of Tsingtao Beer, which was once opened by the Germans in 1903 and later became the best beer brand in China, you can visit the Tsingtao Beer Museum.I really want you can visit there. And I hope you can have a good time in China ❤❤❤

O, no, you actually went to a Sichuan restaurant in Guangzhou?
The best food in Guangzhou is Cantonese food, such as the breakfast you have, of course, those are just simple breakfasts.
You can try Guangzhou's morning tea, drinking tea and eating dim sum (I prefer steamed shrimp dumplings)
As for authentic Cantonese food, I recommend two places, both of which I used to go to frequently. I always drive from Tianhe District to eat there. The price is not high and the food is delicious. They are both in Fangcun, namely "Zhou Wang Zhuang粥旺庄" under the Hedong Bridge(鹤洞大桥下) and "He Xiang Ju荷香居" next to the railway of Fangcun Tea Market(芳村茶叶市场铁路边)

    少不入川,老不入广--This is a Chinese proverb.
It means don't go to Sichuan when you are young, and don't go to Guangzhou when you are old.
Because Sichuan is so fun and comfortable for young people. Its food style is greasy and spicy, but it's very delicious.
Guangzhou's weather and food are very suitable for the elderly, as the weather is warm all year round, the diet is light and the ingredients are rich and varied. It is considered a place where life is very healthy.

I m Malaysian chinese and been watching you guys a month. It brings to my attention that one of the guy keep crictising that China ppl don't speak English. As a person who love to travel, I have been traveling a lot of country and always enjoy nibble learning the local culture and language. why don't we pick up at least basic local language when comes to ordering food or talk to local? I would never expect french, Japanese, Korean, or even some of suburban European speaks English to me. There is nothing else more important to respect the local culture than taking our own pride from the country . My two cents!
