Michael, I am considering buying a new IPad Pro versus a MacBook because I am super interested in DaVinci for IPad.
Honestly will I lose much over DaVinci on a MacBook ?
Does anybody know if I can, for example, have a resolve project database on a samsung t5 and go between editing on an iPad and a PC?
@@moneyboys2010 yes... if you're serious, you don't want to try to do it all on the iPad. i promise. ipads have gotten pretty powerful but there's no way you'd want to be tied to the tablet.
i'd buy a used tablet for cheap in addition to the MacBook, if you want to go that route. i have an older iPad, 6y old now, but since it has a Retina display it's still wonderful for my needs, and it must not cost even $200 used anymore.

When you step back from the two of them and ask the question "Who was these Apps were designed for as their target users?" it seems that they are targeting two different and distinct groups of users. One is for those who want just a full featured App on the iPad to do limited video editing on the iPad only and the other is for those who want a logical and integrated extension of their existing video editing workflow that now includes the iPad.
It's just amazing to me that we have them both available after a long time coming nice review as always 👍 ❤

Great analysis man. I’m a FCPX user and Resolve interest me I guess you could say. But you know old habits. Riddle me this. All of the issues w FCPX iPad mentioned I totally agree with. I also assume most will come quick w future updates, well hopefully…. When I try to import direct from card of my FX6 to FCPX I, broken clip. But direct to resolve perfect. So clearly a codec issue. But the codec is clearly available in resolve. That sucks. From my Ninja pro res of course works but dang FCPX I dang.
“Selection at Playhead” you nailed it. After playing with FCP for iPad during my first few days of the trial offer, I knew something was missing but didn’t know how to describe it. Of course you got it exactly right. I think FCP for iPad is going places with a very different metaphor than most editors.
hello, just purchased final cut for ipad so i’m looking up all the vids for help! as of now, we can’t use motion VFX for filters etc??
No speed ramping in either? Looks like I’m sticking to a free editor that has the best speed ramping I’ve used (Vn)
3:16 That’s exactly the problem why I so far don’t want to use FCPX for iPad- is that to start playing your footage or project- you have to press that tiny “play” button on the left of your screen, no other way like in Lumafusion- where you just tap a screen almost anywhere. Found it very annoying on iPad Pro 12.9 holding a pencil in my right hand and iPad in left- then I have to find any means how to press that “ONLY” little “play button “ to continue playing a footage. Let me know please if you know any other tricks about FCPX for iPad- that could be used to ease the start/pause/stop function. Bcs it seemed to me kind of annoying.

I’ve posted this on a few other channels. I currently use a 7 year old PC with AdOBE PP. I shoot with a canon R5c. Photo and video. I usually only shoot 4k XFAVC for video. File size is small and playback is smooth even on my old PC. render time is fast too but I want something mobile. For color correcting my CLOG3 footage I usually slap on BUTTERY LUT mess with a little exposure, contrast and highlights shadows and small color temp. I mainly am using my set up for family photos / video documenting and some smaller little client projects here and there. Nothing crazy.
I’m NOW considering a 15” air that just came out but I like the workability of an iPad. Just fun to use, however air would have larger screen and 8 more hours of battery life.
I could learn resolve no prob but I like keeping things simple. I DO however like that you have resolve files and can add LUTS ect. The external drive thing isn’t a huge issue as I would just delete project after finished but store raw footage on PC as a backup.
What’s your thoughts! Price being relatively same for either device.
Final cut not yet supporting speed ramping put me off from installing it. Until they update it with this feature that's when I'll give it a try and also stabilisation.

Search resolve for iPad hack. Using a keyboard shortcut you can unlock all the pages 👍🏼
Final Cut what? Why would you use it still when Davinci Resolve is pushing Finalcut Pro on Macs and Adobe Premiere on Mac, pc out of the market? On your iPad you just might as well move to Davinci Resolve right away.

FCPX looks like lumafusion to me, lumafusion has 6 channels of video and 6 channels of audio and is a one time charge not a subscription, so I’ll stick with what I’ve already paid for and know how to use quite well

Great for the hack and for your input with ipad resolve...I switch to ipad M2 resolve combo with speed editor usb4 hub with 8 tb nvme DIY External SSD and feeding it with my blackmagic multicam footage of live event concert onroad. It is working not as good as my PC but very close even noise reduction and fx...would need to go for Macbook pro M2 max to have better result and I am rocking with the basic m2 pro version with 128 GB drive so with resolve no need for more just buy a USB 3.2 or even better USB 4 and you have an incredible working station...and yes no second display but with the speed editor you can switch back and forth full screen so it is not a problem for me as I know where are the problems...for me perfect combo is Ipad 128 GB USB 4 hub permitting charfing for ipad as well and 40 gbs speed 4 DIY nvme ssd drives, Speed editor ,mouse and keyboard and I am good to go...
Using mostly Braw multicam so FCP anyway a no go...
Great channel and content btw I notice.that gyrostabilisation with 18.5 is better comparing with last year did you notice it maybe I am dreaming...just an intuition made some test on org BMPCC4K and 6K at 50 fps work really fine even 25 fps in Eu so why the 25 fps...

I have been a mutual fund user for more than 10 years. I’ve been asking on ipad since 2017 (I even wrote directly to Craig Federighi last year and opted for a fuzzy answer), but this version of fcp is an insult to intéligence and users.

Why would Apple release this app, AFTER DR was already available? That's such a bad move. They should have two versions, or UI's available-- one for the casual user who likes the simplicity, & a full layout just like DR has made. Would've been WAY better!
