I actually really love the cinema classic sketches, they are very cute, zany and a nice change in pace from the other ones.

Kate and Emma are doing the "Mid Atlantic adult woman" accent, an accent that only existed in classic B&W films and which was meant to be a hybrid of posh UK and aristocratic USA.
Carrie Fisher attempted it in Star Wars; George Lucas liked her sounding like a Flash Gordon/Buck Rodgers "classy dame", but she couldn't hold it throughout all three films
Totally get it. Its actually a very hard dialect to hold on to. Could either be brillant or a hot mess. No in between. These ladies nailed it. And looked good doing it.
I read where Joan Crawford originated that “accent “. Every B&W movie I’ve seen he actors talk with a slight British accent.

I think eventually when Lorne does pass the torch, it’ll be to Kenan. He has been the longest cast member and knows the ropes better than anyone. He’d be the best choice to carry on the SNL legacy. Doesn’t need to die with Mr. Lorne Michaels.
